I found out that it was because of an incompatibility with the TWAIN plugin. So, since the only program giving problems was photoshop, I copied the file TWAIN.plugin in the folder Plug-Ins/Adobe ImageReady Only. This way Photoshop loads and works well (without Twain, unfortunately), and Image Ready works completely well.

No problems with CS2 here - mbp 1.83GHz.

What scanner do you have? I think that's the true problem, because everything goes well after removing the twain.plugin from the plug-ins folder. I have an Epson. You can read it in my signature.

I have no problem with Photoshop CS2, it works fine.

I have a Epson Perfection 1200U Photo Scanner.

would you send me your twain.plugin by email or post it? I have looked also at the Adobe forum, and so many users with 10.4.5 and Epson scanners have had the same problem of mine.

Although this should be under post OS X installation, you could trying fooling your macintosh Hackintosh into thinking it is 10.5 or something that may fix it.

Meanwhile, I have totally changed my configuration, hardware and software.

I don't use an Epson scanner (I switched to Canon), I am not using Tiger, as I used to (now I have Leopard) and I am not using CS2 (now I have CS4).

I have even formatted the hard disk I had when I started this topic, so I cannot help georgeorange. Sorry!
