I built an AMD system and would really like to install OSX on it, however, my proc is a socket 754 and only has SSE2. At first I thought this was the issue, but as Im seeing that many SSE2 processors are running it I dont believe that this is the problem anymore. I attempt to boot using the install DVD and the apple loading screen will come up with the little thing in the middle spinning around, and it will sit there spinning for hours. Any ideas? Thanks!

When booting from DVD press F8 and add the "-v" option to get more info.

PS. Are you shure that it will spinn for hours? Do you hear any activity from the dvd drive and from hard drive? Just let it to spinn around for 5 min.

Sorry, I should have been more clear of what I meant was spinning. I was referring to the little circular loading graphic that the OS startup displays while its loading its boot menu, not my hard drive. Sorry about the confusion. I have down the -v command before and it got as far as saying something about trying to clear or replace cache of some sort. I will try again tomorrow and get specifics. Thanks for the help!! (By the way, there is no activity from the DVD drive or the hard drive while the graphic spins.)
