got past the infamous still waiting for root device error.. began throwing a bar mitzvah.. just to find that there are no found devices to mount on... i even dragged out an ol' IDE HD to dedicate only to mac.. heres what i am working with

NForce4 mobo(is all just lost once you see NForce 4?)

2 SATA 120Seagate 200WD

1 IDE 80GB Seagate

followed profit42 to a T, on partition magic(after formatted the drive) it is showing the IDE drive as "type AF" .. seeing that clean space works just fine elsewhere on forums..) and yes the partition is set to active...

do i need windows on the drive to make this work?? or is the NForce4 holding me back?

thanks

Ooops. stuck at the same point, also got an old IDE drive (20GB from a G4 when Apple put real high-end components in their new computers) and no joy. Can't find any info on nvidia4 or anything else here, someone want to point us in the right direction?

Have you check out the FAQ for setting up the drive?
