Eminos
Hi, I just ordered an other harddrive that I will use for OSX (iAtkos). My current harddrive is 160 GB (1 partition, osx), Id' like to move all the content to the new disk/partition, 320GB. How do I do that? Also I have some other questions. 1) I'm running iAtkos 1.0r2 now, and it works fine with my DAW. I booted up the iAtkos 2.0 DVD hoping that I could update my system, but it said install instead of update in the customization so I aborted. Is there a way to update from iAtkos 1.0r2 to iAtkos 2.0 ? 2) Is there a benefit in running more then one partition for OSX + OSX Apps ? Some apps seem to require installation on the OSX partition anyway. For Windows the benefit is that you still have your apps and settings (mostly) on the second partition, could you start up those apps on the second partition after reinstalling OSX ?? /E
Suzie's Soliloquy
Make a time machine backup to another device, and use the setup disk to recover that backup onto your new drive
Cave Man
You can also do a fresh install onto the 320 gig, then use Migration Assistant at the end of the install to move your files and users over to the new drive. That's what I did with Kalyway 10.5.2.
hogfan
Or you can do what I did and use Symantec Ghost to clone the old drive to the new one. You will have to boot up initially with MacOSX install disc because for some reason Ghost (version 8) anyway, doesn't get the Darwin bootloader. Once you are in OSX you can grab PCWiz's Utilities on the forum here and re-install Darwin w/ Netkas EFI boot with a nice little script...no manual EFI install! Then your cloned drive will be bootable without the install CD in the drive. This was the only thing that worked for me. Time machine backup will work too, but will not be bootable either. You will need to boot from the CD and re-install the Darwin Bootloader.
