Good morning,

I discovered just by coincidence that it was possible to put an MAC OS X on a PC. And today, I surprens to read magazines Mac: shock:

To understand why Mac OS X attracted more faithful, I embarked on an installation.

Here for information following characteristics of the machine that I use for this test. It is no more nor less than my laptop.

Here are the details:

ASUS G2S

Bios 300 modified version [/ b]

Core 2 Duo T7500 2.2 GHz

160 GB HDD currently partitioned in 3 volumes

-- Partition 1: Recovery Asus

-- Partition 2: Vista SP1 NTFS

-- Partition 3: space donated NTFS

-- Partition 4: 25 gigabyte Fat 32

2 GB Ram

Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce 8600M with HDMI output VGA +

Map wifi intel 4965 a / b / g / n <- Not good at all for Mac OS ca

Lan Altansic L1

Chipset PM965

Sound card LAC 882 RealTek

Webcam + microphone

Map acquisition analog integrated

Integrated Tuner TNT

Modem 56 Motorola

eSata via JMicron controller

Logitech MX518 mouse buttons 5

Note that this topic just perfectly be used by owners of portable Asus (G1S or other) because the physical characteristics are very close [/ b]

Do be aware that to achieve this, it took me:

-- 3 browse forums (Fr and some other U.S.).

-- Download 2 distro different from 10.5.2. Finally in this tutorial we will use a Kalyway.

-- Patch the bios of my machine with a bios "tuned" See link below in this post.

-- Download and uncompress a boot fix: http://rapidshare.com/files/65965115/files.rar.html [/ url]

-- Download and unpack the drivers of my 8600m GT: http://www.mediafire.com/?mi2obzt2ont [/ url]

There unpretentious, I saves you 10 hours of galleys. [/ b]

Qq explanations before.

There are several distro (Kalyway, Leo4all ,....). The worry for the final on such portable (asus G2S), this is not the distrib 10.5.2 -> This is the BIOS [/ b]

Unlike the bios of the PC desktop where you can make changes here are not possible. If you try to boot on a Kalyway or Leo4all without changing the bios, you block the boot partition is your freedom to your future Mac OS is unavailable.

If you do not prefer to take the risk of flash your machine with a bios amended by a forumeur, I understand. You have to stop reading the topic here: (

For the other 8), here's more:

First downloaded bios amended.

You can find it on this fourm: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act = Print & client = printer & f = 2… [/ url]

and there: http://osrom.net/biosmod/ [/ url]

Using the tool Asus winflash to install windows in your bios "moded".

Following the installation reboot windows vista to validate that your widows always works well with this new bios.

Make sure you have a partition free for your very next Mac OS X. If this is not the case. Reduce the size of your final score with the disk manager windows.

Then you have to create a partition FAT 32 MAIN as a result of your partoches widows. To do so do not expect anything Vista. It will create as you were leaving logic.

Use a liveCD Gparted for example to create the FAT32 partition.

Ue once made, insert the DVD of the Kalyway 10.5.2.

At the prompt, as you Bios amended more typing anything. Enter entrance.

@ darkgold: do not want me but I qq resume. Passage of your tutorial:

After a long script window installation starts.

Choose "Use french as their main language" and then the next. In the top menu click on "Tools" then "Disk Utility" then click on the partition that you planned for Mac OS and select "Delete".

In format volume choose "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" and a name put the name you want to partition (I have put MAC HD) and then click "Clear." Close "Utility Disc" and proceed to the selection of partitions for installation.

Check "Vanilla_Kernel" and all the applications you want. Do not not the drivers for your graphics card now. We will do so later.

Finish and start the installation (if you're on your DVD you can skip verification).

Once installation is completed the system will not start alone it will make some manipulations (note that you will not have access to Windows, we will see how to get there again thereafter).

Reboot on DVD

After a long script you get on Mac OS X (the system will be in English for now). Answer the various issues (use a simple password kind toto as a first step because your keyboard is in us) and you finally arrive on the desktop.

Go to the preferences system and put in French keyboard (French windows PC).

go in the terminal

sudo-s

diskutil list

fdisk-e / dev/rdisk0 (0 corresponds to drive east or mac)

Update

Back on the Mac, we will install the graphics driver:

Copy on the office file "10.5.2_NVkexts +. Pkg" which is on your USB key. Double-click the file and then continue to the end of the installation you will be offered to restart. You made and this is the graphics card is recognized and the display is a 1400 * 900 or 1900 * 1200 according to the native resolution of your slab.

Edit of 26/05/2008: First findings [/ b]

I have not finished tuning whole.

I have noticed that the PC is not able to leave a day before (black screen) if I leave it without touching it. So for now I disable paused. On this point I have seen things on the forums.

Edit of 04/06/2008: Update 10.5.3 [/ b]

Here is the procedure to follow:

-- Download Kalyway combo 10.5.3 update

-- Install the package comboUpdate10.5.3, do not reboot

-- Install 10.5.3kernel.pkg checking vanilla

-- Repair with Onyx

-- Then reboot and update F8-v, it remains blocked a little time on the text then it reboot and that is ok.

Since this update there is a video driver pbl ANC.

To correct this made the following actions:

* Download the file NVkushInstaller.pkg.zip (313.03K) http://forum.insanelymac.com/index. php? act = attach & type = post & id = 2872… [/ url] and there: http://diabolik1605.com/DHF/ [/ url]

* Unzip and install the package

* Remove the file "NVinject.kext" in the "Extensions"

* Restart, then the boot phase, type:-f

Edit of 05/06/2008: Re-operation of the driver NTFS R / W [/ b]

The move to release 10.5.3 driver paragon allowing access to NTFS disks R / W. Following the passge of 10.5.3, I have more rights than R. We must relocate to new driver paragon et ca refonctionne R / W..

Edit of 06/06/2008: The Ethernet card Altansic L1 works very well. [/ b]

To do this you need to install the following: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act attach = & type = post & id = 2659… [/ url]

Installing the pilot. Restart.

Go to preferences networks and implement changes in Ethernet.

Edit of 17/06/2008: The management of the battery, which galère! [/ b]

Well, I tried several totu but obviously my tests s'interféraient them. Here is a method that works.

To do this you need to download 3 files:

http://osx86heb1.googlepages.com/AppleACPI...10.5.3.orig.zip [/ url]

http://osx86heb1.googlepages.com/PowerMana...10.5.3.orig.zip [/ url]

http://osx86heb1.googlepages.com/ApplePS2C...kext.10.5.3.zip [/ url]

Save your two kext currently present on your machine (AppleACPIPlatform.kext and ApplePS2Controller.kext) to a destination of your choice.

Do the same for the bundle on your machine PowerManagement.bundle

Unpack the 3 zip. Installing the package Powermgt.

Then around 2 ktext in / System / Library / Extensions

Under a terminal type sudo-s

Then do:

chown-R 0:0 AppleACPIPlatform.kext

chown-R 0:0 ApplePS2Controller.kext

chmod-R 755 AppleACPIPlatform.kext

chmod-R 755 AppleACPIPlatform.kext

Reboot and prompt type:-f

O great micracle, the battery icon works. The shutdown / reboot too.

Note:

For me the sleep mode works but when I power up the PC I have black screen.

The remaining time in battery mode is incorrect. 9mn MacOS and rebootant under VIsta 1:30: shock: Strange.

Try patched bios . I have G1S-A1 (bios v300 patched) and got everything to work with kalyway 10.5.2 except JMicron esata crontrolers.

It doesn't require cpus=1 anymore and running vanilla kernel.

Hi,

I have seen this topic but I'm afraid of loosing my laptop.

This evenning I have done this without success :

-v -x cpus=1 -legacy -f platform=ACPI

-v cpus=1 acpi=off noapic

It did not boot

I'm trying to get a leo4allv3 distro before testing your sollution (BIOS patching)

Thanks.

I keep you inform.

Hi!

I'm the happy owner of an ASUS G2SG-7R014J. Is the patched BIOS posted above also compatible to the G2SG-Series? If I want to boot from the Kalyway DVD, it doesn't work. It always failes as shown on this image: http://localhostr.com/files/f6520f/P1010478.JPG

What can I do to get the installer to run on my laptop? I saw in some guides I need to modify the SATA options in the BIOS to AHCI. But there's no option for this in my BIOS.

I'd be happy about help.

There's a NVIDIA GeForce 8700 GT built in the laptop

That's what I figured out:

BIOS Type: AMI

BIOS Date: December 25th 2007

BIOS ID: 64-0100-009999-00101111-122507-Crestline-G2SG0000

BIOS OEM: BIOS Date: 12/25/07 Ver: 303 - 303

Chipset: Intel 2A00 rev 3

SuperIO: Unknown

Manufacturer: ASUSTeK Computer Inc.

Motherboard: G2SG

May someone tell me where to get the original BIOS in case the patch with G2S is failing?

4) booted iDeneb DVD, installed
