dot4f
I have the reverse of everyone else’s issue. I installed from DeadMoo's Image. It works fine, except no Rosetta, and I DO have SSE3 (Shows up in System Profiler too) What steps (please go easy Linux geeks) are required to (unpatch?) my system, and allow me to run Rosetta? Thanks! Hardware: Gateway 552GE (Intel Mobo, GMA900+Audio+Ethernet+FireWire+PS2 +USB all work well) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/1050-sse3-with-deadmoo-image-unpatch/ Share on other sites
dot4f
Guide to enabling Rosetta for users with SSE3 systems that are needlessly patched. Effected: Those who have loaded tiger from the tiger-x86-flat.img (DeadMoo \ Curtis) image that have a processor that supports SSE3. Problem: Tiger works, but Rosetta does not (no iTunes), yet SSE3 is present in System Profiler. Possible Cause: Tiger was loaded from the tiger-x86-flat.img image. - This image contains a patch intended for users of SSE2, but unfortunately does not work if you have SSE3, without first removing the patch. Solution: Replace the patched CoreGraphics file with the un-patched version. Requirements: CoreGraphics.rar - Can be found: EDIT - sorry, you can't link to that here /EDIT Software to UnRar the file. (unless you are a linux geek and know better) http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm (Winrar – Windows) Know your password – If you do not know the password try bovinity Directions to revert CoreGraphics File, and enable SSE native support: 1. Start by UnRaring the file (File is nearly 9MB, titled CoreGraphics with no extention) 2. Rename the CoreGraphics file to CoreGraphics.bak (if you don't it may not show up in your drive in OSX) 3. Move the file (CoreGraphics.bak) from your windows drive to /System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/CoreGraphics.framework/Versions/A 4. Go into "Finder" and select "Applications" Then "Utilities" and open "Terminal" from there enter the following commands (just what is between the quotes, without typing the quotes). "cd /System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/CoreGraphics.framework/Versions/A" – Changes directory. "chmod 755 CoreGraphics.bak " – Changes file permissions (very important). "sudo chown root:wheel CoreGraphics.bak" "sudo mv CoreGraphics CoreGraphics.i386" – Renames patched (old bad file) to get it out of way. "sudo mv CoreGraphics.bak CoreGraphics" – Renames new file to the proper name. 5. Reboot the system. Say a prayer. When the system reboots, if you followed the instructions carefully, iTunes should run. Some users have had issues, so move forward at your own risk. Good Luck. Someone, please post more sources for the rar file. TheWolf
CoreGraphics.rar - Can be found:<removed here too> According to the md5 list both links point to a CoreGraphics.v0.3 file and not the original. Does anybody has an orginal? Are any other files in the deadmoo image (unnecessarily for SSE3 hardware) patched to SSE2? Thanks, TheWolf Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/1050-sse3-with-deadmoo-image-unpatch/#findComment-7456 Share on other sites
cyrana
Well if your file is about 9MB it is probably the original anyway. If you're worried, the instructions above show how to backup the file so you can always reboot into -s and restore things. If it is installed properly (and your motherboard chipset is working and you have GMA900), you should see CI and QE enabled, aside from things like Rosetta working. Velvet Nightmare
This is actually the only thing that I did, and it worked fine, however I had to find it out on my own. I added this to the FAQ's on the Wiki so that no one gets confused anymore.
