Hello,

I now that it's illegal to install Mac OS X on a PC (not an apple machine) due to Apple license.

I wonder know what's a apple machine.

Is an apple juste the motherboard, or all the components ?

I want to be in legality. Is it alright if I just buy an apple motherbord, and I buy some components in order to mount a PC with this motherboard ?

Thanks in advance for your answers

It's pretty much just the motherboard in terms of hardware. The RAM, CPU, hard drive and optical drive are all off-the-shelf components. The only other parts specific to a Mac are the case and operating system, and there's nothing in the license that says you can't put the computer in a different case.

Building your own Mac is legal, I couldn't tell you the price difference between buying a Mac and building a real one.(Someone on these forums did it, but I forget who)

As for what is a real mac, besides the hardware, to me a real Mac is one that does its job. Efficiently.

Because it's soo expensive :censored2:

if I buy a apple mothorbord, RAM en CPU...

I don't understand. Where else will you get an Apple motherboard? From the factory direct? I didn't know they did spare parts. And if you buy second hand, it'll most likely be a Mac with its case.

Here in Australia, the first generation of Intel Macs are going for about half their original price... I don't see how that makes such an expense.
