Alessandro17
http://distrowatch.com/?newsid=04873 http://www.slackware.com/announce/12.1.php It is always a day of celebration for every true Unix/Linux user when a new Slackware release comes out, even for those who don't normally use it. Properly set up, Slackware's desktop should be suitable for any level of Linux experience. .............................................................. From the beginning, Slackware has offered a stable and secure Linux distribution for UNIX veterans as well as an easy-to-use system for beginners. Slackware includes everything you'll need to run a powerful server or workstation. Each Slackware package follows the setup and installation instructions from its author(s) as closely as possible, offering you the most stable and easily expandable setup. Forceman
Thats because Slackware's DE's are their defaults and not modified at all. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/102910-slackware-linux-121-released/#findComment-737642 Share on other sites
Alessandro17
Thats because Slackware's DE's are their defaults and not modified at all. Exactly. And almost everything else as well. (MoC)
Exactly. And almost everything else as well. I love it simply because of that. It is very simple to mod and make it the way you want Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/102910-slackware-linux-121-released/#findComment-737695 Share on other sites
Forceman
I was going to install it but I dont know if I can be arsed, I'm going to have to compile latest GNOME via jhbuild as well and compile my fav apps. I just feel nice and snuggly in Ubuntu hardly, I got it to easy. (MoC)
I'm going to have to compile latest GNOME via jhbuild as well and compile my fav apps. That's the fun part!! P.S you could just use slapt-get and it will do the same thing Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/102910-slackware-linux-121-released/#findComment-737787 Share on other sites
Forceman
Nah, never used slap-get, alot of the slackware guys say as well you just can't guarantee the security, same goes for Linux packages. Always best to compile or use slackbuilds. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/102910-slackware-linux-121-released/#findComment-737795 Share on other sites
