theSpam
I currently have a PS2 keyboard which doesn't seem to work even with the PS2 kext. So, if I go out and get a PS2 to USB convertor, will that work? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/10182-ps2-to-usb/ Share on other sites

jbjonas
I have noticed that OS X only likes ps/2 mice if you also have a ps/2 keyboard plugged in (and vice versa). However, the usb converter should work, since then there will be no ps/2 devices. (I'm guessing that you have a USB mouse, right? - I had the same issue and fixed it without the converter by plugging in a second, ps/2 mouse which I don't use at all- just to recognize the keyboard.) theSpam
Yes, I currently have an USB mouse and a PS/2 keyboard. I guess I'll pick up one of those convertors this week. theSpam
I've been to 3 shops and none of them have a keyboard PS/2 to USB adapter. 2 of the shops actually said that they don't exist because: a) USB is faster than PS/2, so an adapter cannot be made USB and PS/2 have a differing amount of pins ...I smell BS Anyways, I noticed that one of the shops I went to had mice (green) PS/2 to USB adapters (the guy working there said that I needed a keyboard specific one). Will one of these work with a keyboard (the mice adapters, that is)? jbjonas
Not sure about that one... though I don't see why it wouldn't. Try it out = especially if it's returnable Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/10182-ps2-to-usb/#findComment-65764 Share on other sites
Eggman
Actually, although the the mouse and keyboard PS/2 ports look identical, they really aren't. That's why motherboards have different ports for mice and keyboards (this is all a quote from a friend; I don't know if it's true or not). Your best bet would be to do what jbjonas did.
