Error "com.apple.Boot.plist not found" while booting Kalyway Install DVD

Hello,

I was looking to install Leopard on a computer in my home. The Specs are:

Pentium 4 2.88GHZ

120 GB Seagate HD

768mb ram

I don't want to dual boot. I just want Leopard. But when I try to boot from my KALYWAY_LEO_10.5.1 (Intel) disk I get the error message "System config file '/com.apple.Boot.plist' not found"

I am using an external USB DVD drive to boot the disk. I don't think its my burn. I have reburned the image 3 times on different programs.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Rostam,

Sounds like the disc itself is ok. Make sure you press F8 at the first prompt where you see the Kalyway disk as the boot device. If you wait too long, it will then ask you if you want to boot from the hard drive, where there's nothing to boot from. So make sure you're hitting F8 at the first screen, and don't wait too long.

Thanks for answering Canis, but I might be doing this wrong. It seems as though when I press F8 I am only given the choice of the Hard Drive. I may be missing the Kalyway screen though. Does this go by relatively quickly?

I am having the same problem for Leo4All as well as Kalyway. As soon as I boot from the DVD, it instantly pops up the sentence. I burned Leo in Ubuntu and Kalyway was done with Alcohol in XP. I am just not seeing something that I should be?

Are you using an IDE Hard Drive or a SATA Hard Drive? If IDE you might want to switch to SATA. I believe there is a problem if you have a Jmicron Controller when doing installs using Kalyway. What brand and spec is your motherboard? Also did you try Disabling HT (hyperthreading) in the BIOS and during boot up you select boot with command line options. Then try adding -v -x cpus=1 and see if that helps you to continue on.

i have answered this question several times, i have an ide dvd drive on my hp amd laptop and sata hdd, still installation was a breeze, so check out topic with this problem in other topics below.what kind pc you got?

Pentium Dual Core E2140 (I am overclocking for 1:1 ratio if it makes any difference), ASUS P5K, Crucial 2GB 667 Ballistix, eVGA 8600GT 256MB, WD 80GB IDE & Seagate 80GB Sata drives, Sony IDE DVD Drive. I did spend several hours looking through the topics since the search function turned up nothing of use. Currently there are only two files I can see in Linux on the Kalyway disc and eight on the Leo4All disc. I read something about using Toast to make an ISO but I lack a Mac in my house. I gave away my G3 a while ago. : (

*EDIT* I hit F8 and tried the -v but still getting the same issues. @_@ I will try your suggestion cotton and post back with the results. The problem is its not even booting into the installer and just hanging outside giving me this error.

No dice. Just tried that and it wasn't working. I didn't see a field in the BIOS to disable HT and I don't believe my CPU even supports it, given that it isn't a real C2D. Is there a particular program I should be using to burn this with? I am willing to load XP and give something a go if necessary,

I will comment that the DVD drive is on the same cable as the IDE HD, as I don't have two working IDE controllers on my motherboard and the IDE drive is primarily an XP drive.

Hey Boaz, for P5K, id' suggest setting your SATA as AHCI instead of IDE and also disable Speedstep and enhanced disable execute in BIOS. Make sure you update your BIOS to the latest one if it still doesnt work - I've read v8.05 works if you are a version below try upgrading to this one. Another suggestion is to turn off the audio and lan on the motherboard and re-enable and install the drivers after you have a bootable system. Your audio should be ALC 888 based and that's in the DVD but the onboard LAN will need a separate driver. You'll have to look around to find that one (AttansicL1).

Still nothing. Acquired a fresh copy today and the MD5 isn't correct, to which I am not sure why. Also, with the latest BIOS, the option to set SATA to AHCI disappeared. :X
