flynismo
Hello all, Noob to the forum, as well as Mac. My problem is that I have a Mac OS X 10.4 .iso that I am trying to install on my PC, and I cannot get the install to run; it simply freezes up on me before I have a chance to do anything. I'm sure it's probably a compatibility issue or something along those lines that I failed to address; problem is is that being new to this, I have no idea on how to troubleshoot my problem. My hardware is as follows (and I'm not sure exactly what needs to be listed in order for someone to be able to help me out, so please let me know if I miss anything): HP Pavillion w/ Intel Core 2 Duo Windows XP SP2 (however, I would like to install the MAC OS X on my external drive so that I can keep Windows for a little while) ASUStek Buckeye mainboard Western Digital external hard drive (connected via USB in J: drive) Now, when I boot from the .iso, I just get a message that keeps repeating "still waiting for root file/folder" So I tried installing through the VMWare Server program, and when I get to the part where it says "Applications available for installation", it shows nothing. After searching on google for a solution, the only thing that I came across was a thread on another forum where it showed how you had to go into BIOS to change a few settings before running the install disc, but my computer's BIOS does not have the options available that were described on the site. If anyone can help, please do...the few times I've used a Mac, I absolutely loved it; and I've got a decent computer to run it on, so hopefully I can get this to work so that I won't have to sell my firstborn in order to afford a Mac.
