Is it 10.4.4 or .5 When I ran my external hardrive it was with 10.4.1 and through USB non powered. I had to load it on the drive mounted internal first then swap it over to the USB housing. I dont have the drive in that housing anymore so cant try it for you. Can you set up your external with USB and see if it will boot from there as a stopgap. And maybe check bios for USB emulation enabled on the 9300 (I have the M170 bios for my video card, think its the same though) I'm guessing its not a 2.5" drive?
