Hello Everyone ,, I'd like to share with you my experience with Lenovo ThinkPad P50 ( EFI , and Installation Process with some tips ) Hopefully to be useful for anyone who own Lenovo ThinkPad P50 Before start I want to show you my device specs , and I'm sure 99% this will work too with any P50 have different spec. specially Intel i7 CPUs: - Intel Xeon E-3 1535 v5 ( P530 Intel HD Graphics ) - 32 GB RAM - 256 GB SK Hynix Nvme SSD pc401 hfs256gd9tng-62a0a - for Mac OS ( be careful not all nvme ssd are compatible) - 256 GB Samsung Evo 850 SSD - for Windows - 4K Screen - Nvidia Quadro M2000M 4 GB ( Useless - Disabled ) - Intel WiFi Card ( Should be change to a compatible Broadcom one ) BIOS SETUP : I highly recommend this steps before going to BIOS SETUP according to my experience with this Laptop : *( Update your BIOS Firmware to the latest one using windows ) *( Remove Battery , Open the back cover and unplug the small CMOS BATTERY for about 4~5 minutes and put everything back again ) * ( Remove any SSD HDD Nvme disks , USB , DisplayPort , Dock .. etc during installation, keep only the target Disk ) ------------------------------------------- Now Power your PC and Press F1 to enter the BIOS SETUP - Reset BIOS to its defaults - Adjust Date and Time - Config ----> Network ---> Wake Up on Lan ( AC Only ) Network Stack ( Disabled ) - USB ----> USB UEFI support ( Enabled) - Display ------> Total Graphic Memory (256 MB) Graphic Device ( Hybrid) - RAID -----> Disabled - Security -----> Security Chip Selection ( Discrete TPM ) Secure BOOT ( Disabled ) Intel SGX Control ( Software Control ) - Start Up ------>BOOT Priority order ( USB HDD - Mac OS Disk - Windows - and so on ....... with this order ) UEFI/Legacy ( UEFI Only ) CSM Support ( NO ) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** F1 to Enter Bios - F12 for Boot Menu *** Delete the EFI Folder in your Installation USB and replace it with the Attached one **** Generate new serial for SMBIOS MacBook Pro 13.1 ***** If your CPU is XEON then go to Config.plist CPU Section and Add 0x05A5 under Type ( Fix for Unknown CPU ) ****** You can delete boot-args "brcmfx=1 & brcmfx-driver=#a" if you want , I used it in my case with 1820A card to fix wifi issue ****** After you successfully installed OS , now Copy the same EFI Folder to your main EFI Boot Disk Partition ******* Now install all the attached KEXTS to "Library / Extensions" using Hackintool.app or by any method and rebuild cache and repair permissions ******** Check and compare the KEXTS in Library/ Extensions and Delete the repeated ones from Clover / Kexts / Others ( Important don't duplicate the same kexts here and there ) FYI : LiluFriend.kext include ( Lilu , WhatEverGreen, AppleALC , AirportBrcmFixup ) All In One You are Done --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What is working : - 4K Intel HD P530 2048 MB - AUDIO - CAMERA - ALL USB 3 PORTS , NO THUNDERBOLTS - Keyboard and TouchPad - Battery indicator - Display Brightness - Sleep - DSDT has been patched , USB Ports modified only to MacBookPro 13.1 See the Screen Shot Important Notice For Future OS Updates Installations : To avoid Kernel Panic during install any future updates process please remove ( FakeSMC.kext and LiluFriend.kext ) from Library/Extensions directory to Clover / Kexts / Others . After update process finish put them back to Library/Extensions and delete them from clover .   6. Hi all, I hope someone can help me as I am struggling with this bloody installation. I am running on several problems that I can't face : ( First of all my config: Mobo: ASROCK H81M-DGS R2 CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1220 v3 @3.10ghz RAM: 16gb DDR3 1600Mhz SSD: Crucial BX100 120Gb SSD Monitor: Hp 27w Hdmi POST Installation CLOVER Current Issues: • System will not boot (clover boot loader do not shows up) from SSD - System boot only with USB stick • Screen Resolution is only 1024x768 • Monitor recognised as 17" instead of 24" • Monitor identified as secondary • Grafic Card Geforce GT710 shows 0 Mb • System info do not match Config.plistin Clover I attach screenshot of System Info, Kext in Clover, Resolution etc etc. Please can someonhelp me?   7. I got a couple of used XServes for super cheap on eBay. I am going to use one as a VMWare Server for remote employees. The other will be a simple file server since I can do both SMB and AFP as opposed to our Win SBS 2011 server which can only do SMB. The one that will be for virtual machines I felt that I would need a little more power to handle the out of office employees. I bought a pair of Xeon e5345 CPUs for $40.00 on eBay and they certainly did the trick. Here are the before and after Geekbench results Before - http://browser.primatelabs.com/geekbench2/1814845 After - http://browser.primatelabs.com/geekbench2/1533559 Quite an improvement in my opinion. Went from four total cores to eight. As temps go; idle temps are around 35-42c. I also used Arctic Silver 5. OSX System Profiler does not recognize the CPU name. It gets the number of cores and speed right but it lists "Unknown" as the name. However, Geekbench and the virtual machines both see the CPU speed and name correctly. For $40 this was a great upgrade.

  9. Hi im new here and trying to hackintosh my pc but I'm not successful installing it. It always shows an error with nanoseconds xxxx.... or weird text after successful install with boot flag -x i used clover and i was successful with the pre install. but i can't boot thru the hardrive. i use this boot flags : -v , GraphicsEnabler=Yes/No. my Bios Seetings in Gigabyte-UEFI Dual Bios Bios Version: F6 VTD- disable Boot mode: UEFI Initial display: Pcie 1 i can only enter to hdd thru this boot flag -v -x but there is a glitch on the screen and the hackintosh is so slow.   12. Guys, I am trying to upgrade old LGA775 P5Q board with new processor. It is Xeon L5430 with adapter. It is working perfectly under Windows since I've updated microcodes in BIOS. Bios I am using is so called 5th Year anniversary mode BIOS. Dual core E4400 is absolutely fine with the setup. So far i don't have problems with running it on Clover 10.10(tweaked) or 10.11(vanilla config with only latest FakeSMC) on e4400 but Xeon gives me checkered screen after initial apple on black loading screen on both installs. Black has fuzzy RGB dots. Any ideas what this can be or how to troubleshoot that? Thank you.

    [Success] 10.9.1 on HP z800

    I have successfully installed Mavericks (10.9.1) to my HP Z800. Specification 2x Intel Xeon E5520 @ 2.26GHz Four Cores Eight Threads; 96 GB 1066 MHZ ECC DDR3; Nvidia GTX 760; Intel Rapid raid storage; LSI SAS controller; 1×128 GB SSD and 4x2TB HDD; Procedure Get your Mavericks 10.9.1. This is must, after 10.9.1 the support to LSI SAS controller is removed; On your Mac, use myHack (you can get it http://myhack.sojugarden.com/guide/) to create a USB installer, for which you will need at 8GB stick; Change hardware settings of HP Z800 to make all your SSD and HDD connected to SAS port instead of SATA port (which won’t be recognized). Remove unnecessary component from HP Z800. Change the bios setting of HP Z800 to disable vt-d and make sure booting from LSI is enabled (press ctrl+c during booting to access LSI interface); Insert your USB installer to HP Z800 and use following boot flag “GraphicsEnabler=no PCIRootUID=0 -v -f”. The first two flags we used for the GTX 760 graphic card and “-f” disable kernel cache; Follow the install instruction of the Apple. Approaching to completion, myHack will indicate you to remove some kexts, press “yes” to all of them; After installation is completed, remove the USB installer from HP Z800; Boot HP Z800 to the Mavericks just installed and follow all the instruction; In your system, change boot flag in /Extra/org.chameleon.Boot.plist Benchmark
  14. Hi All, I've been struggling for a while trying to get any throttling of my Xeon E5-2620 (v1 thus Sandy Bridge). Using Asus P9X79WS, 10.9.2 (13C64, the release version), and RampageDev's clean SSDT-based installation with updated FakeSMC. Using PikeRAlpha's ssdtPRgen script (newest revisions), with various settings. Pike kindly added the v1 definitions for me, but I'd been hand-jamming them before. Tried without and with explicitly forcing SB cpu (-c 0) and xcpm (-w). Nothing I do budges the speed from 20x. Nothing lower unless I use NullCPU (then it naturally throttles between 12x and 20x). No turbo no matter what I do (yes, I specified -turbo 2500 with ssdtPRgen). 1. Has anyone got this chip (or very similar) to work? Esp. with the new PM methodology in Mavericks? 2. Any general hints in troubleshooting? I've re-done the installation and script gen fairly carefully, but I can't help but feel I'm missing something. Perhaps SB has just fallen into a gap in support and everyone is working only on the IB models as they're more focused on enthusiast home use (I do understand why, just that my use case is different and I bought back when V1 was out). Problem after upgrade to Intel Xeon I have a desktop computer: Now installed a processor Intel Xeon E5410, previously used the Celeron DualCore E1400 Gigabyte GA-EP41-UD3L http://www.gigabyte.pl/products/page/mb/ga-ep41-ud3l_10/overview/ Nvidia GeForce 9400GT I made a successful installation Xeon processor in the LGA775 socket. Xeon is typically designed for socket LGA771. But there is a trick, a way to correct Working Xeon and Socket LGA775 http://www.delidded.com/lga-771-to-775-adapter/ I changed the old processor and now under Windows and Linux everything works OK. Before changing the CPU my hackintosh also worked OK. But after installing Xeon hackintosh with El Capitan I have a problem - as in this picture "pixels" (when you should see the desktop system). The question I have to point out the important. Earlier, before changing the CPU all OK I worked in a hackintosh, for example graphics card worked OK with EFI String and Clover. This my computer as a hackintosh use since 2009 and over the years I have it very well configured to run hackintosh. I read on the internet that Xeon E5410 should probably work OK in hackintosh because it is used in real macintosh. Graphics card may not be a problem if previously worked OK with EFI String, I changed only the CPU, not the graphics card. Please see my config.plist from Clover http://pastebin.com/ERfV4Na0 Please very experts for advice, to review the config.plist what wrong I have set, I have to remove, add or change What can I change in my confing.plist in Clover which is associated with the processor Xeon?   16. Hi, guys, help is needed. I am trying to install Yosemite (14a389) to my HP z800 workstation, which has two Intel Xeon E5520 CPU and 96 GB ram. However, I am stuck at this screen and followed by a black screen (the screen is totally off). To install it, I have installed only one SSD (tried on both SATA and SAS port, which is recognized by bios) and Nvidia GTX 760. For install, I used the latest chamelon (on a USB thumb drive) for boot and another SSD for install file disk. Boot arguments: 1. -v -f kext-dev-mode=1 2. -v -f kext-dev-mode=1 npci=0x2000 The hardware specs: Chipset Intel 5520 2x Intel Xeon E5520, 2.26 GHz, 8 MB cache, 1066 MHz Memory, 5.86 GT/s QPI, 80W 96 GB (12x8 GB) DDR3-1333 ECC Registered RAM 2-CPU Nvidia GTX 760 Thanks!

I've just begun exploring the possibilities with Hackintosh and my immediate impression is: while people SAY it's easy enough to build a good Hackintosh Tower that is comparable in performance to a Mac Pro (and slightly less expensive), I am seriously doubting it. I need your advice and I'm sure 100 other people this summer will come in here looking for same. Hopefully they find this thread and comment. Observations / Questions 1. In all the Parts wikis and Tony's site and the rest, I don't see Xeon motherboards anywhere. I also do not see among the popular configurations, dual socket motherboards from Intel. I realize Intel is not a "Requirement" but as much as possible I would like to use the same types of "core parts" found in a Mac Pro. Then when it comes to things like USB 3, SATA III SSD, etc I'll use whatever people have the best luck with. How difficult is it to find Xeon E5 CPU and motherboard parts that will work with this process? If I'm going to go to the trouble to build and maintain one of these things, I'm not going to shoot for a less powerful machine than what Apple sells. I'm going to shoot for equally or more powerful, as would many others I think. I am not averse to i7 parts but they have to be high end (around 3GHz) and either a single 6 core machine or a dual 4 or 6 core machine. 2. How common is it that once you choose your "baseline system" (let's say 10.7.3), that you can get it to work and just "stay put" for a long period of time? Some of the New User info suggests this is only a "hobby", sort of inferring you shouldn't expect things to work well much of the time. Is that the case or are there more serious Hackintosh setups where you can, with a couple days effort, set up a powerful, stable machine that you can use for production purposes? I don't always need the latest OS updates but I want to know that once I pick my baseline I can set it up and leave it untouched for several months, so I can get work done. 3. Given my hardware goals, am I better offer getting a pre-built tower from HP or Dell and installing the Hackintosh firmware and whatnot? I do not need Windows and in fact hope to avoid it. So maybe that means some of the things that cause problems for others will simplify my would-be setup and make it more stable? 4. Are there any sites out there who specialize in building "Mac Pro like" Hackintoshes, in terms of the advice they give and parts wikis? I haven't found one yet. Most sites (like this one) seem to take a more generalist approach, which I can understand.
  19. Hey folks, a few years ago i installed the iAtkos L2 on a super micro x7dal dual xeon e5420 ( non- hyper threaded) ; everything worked fine. I recently upgraded hardware to a super micro x8dti-ln4 with dual x5670's ( hyper threading capable cpu). Since i had a bunch of stuff installed and configured for the original hardware, I moved the HD as is to the "new" hardware and it booted just fine; however, the mac designation is still "mac pro early 2008" and only 12 cores (2 x 6 core cpus) showing up. The "new" cpus are hyperthread capable and the macosx should show 24 cores under the cpu usage window. My question is how do i update the SMBios (or which ever) to: 1) enable hyperthreading of the new xeon X5670's 2) show that this is a macpro 4,1 or 5,1 late 2010 thanks in advance

HOWEVER memory and both Xeon processors had no defect since they now both work on a new motherboard: SuperMicro X7DWT (of which I have two) but no Hackintoshing on that level anymore, I'll just have my DC7600 running OSX as a terminal and two servers probably on Linux as a nano renderfarm. This works pretty much Out-Of-the-Box and includes graphics acceleration by using NVidia's NE210 Silence PCIE card. Knowledge of computer systems is a must to understand this short guide and to be able to help yourself in the case of minor issues. The CPU's are both XEON E5440 SLANS. SLANS is a sub identification that among other things defines the processor's stepping. When you plan to purchase it is advised to pay attention to this code when the motherboard will be occupied with 2 processor chips. OS X is picky and demands the 2 processors to be equal in stepping. Period. The OS X version used here is Snow Leopard. Foreword: To start with use one quad-core E5440 Xeon processor . It was no problem to have 4GB or 8GB of ram in the slots during the OSX installation process provided I used the correct booting arguments . Put only 4GB in the slots in case of trouble. SATA settings in BIOS is Legacy with Secondary SATA or Primary SATA . Avoid using USB connected hard drives. DISABLE the onboard ATI100 graphics (PCI settings). All other BIOS settings are default. Installing the latest BIOS of the this Intel SR1530CLR server is recommended. You will work as follows: Remove any PCI card. Use a USB keyboard and mouse, disconnect all harddisks except the one you will use. You may try a PS/2 keyboard and PS/2 mouse. The use of a PCI card is discussed later. Only use ONE harddisk of not less than 40GB. It MUST BE formated in GPT table format with the all partitions in HFS+. Use an ASUS EN210 graphics card by cutting free the motherboard's PCIe slot at its end so the graphic card fits; this way PCIe x8 is achieved instead of PCIe x16 but that's not bad at all; we miss only one lane and the difference in speed is hardly noticable. Disconnect all harddrives except the one on which you will install OSX 10.6.3. Use the HD0 SATA connector. Use the ModBin X86 boot CD to boot the system but you might try other boot CD's specially made for hackintosh.. Get the iso by looking for Nawcom and ModBinX86 boot CD. At the menu prompt replace the boot CD with the commercial OSX Snow Leopard 10.6.3 DVD, press F5 and wait till the Install DVD appears in the menu. Select the OSX Install DVD with your keyboard arrow keys and then type the following without the quotes: 'cpus=4 maxmem=4096' and press the enter key. Wait until the DVD OSX asks you to enter the working language, then enter your language of choice and then go ahead. Go to the Utilities in the above bar and choose Disk Utility. Select your harddisk and choose to partition in GPT partition table format via 'option' below. Choose the amount of partitions you want. The top one will be where OS X will be installed. Name the partitions in single words without special characters. Apply the partitioning HFS+ Journaled. Apply. Exit the Disk Utility. The Installer reappears automatically upon which you must engage the installation process. The installation should be successfull showing a green check at the end of the installation. Put back the ModBin-X86 boot CD and restart the system. Remember: 'cpus=4 maxmem=4096' are the boot arguments, use them only when using the ModBin-X86 boot CD. Now we put a booter on de harddisk where just now OS X has been installed. This way we can get rid of having to boot via a boot CD. That is done using for example: M-ultiBeast 3.9.0 via tonymacx86.com. Use the checks shown further below. After that you're done you have a single E5440 4-core 2.83GHz Xeon OSX 10.6.3 stable system. Once your OS X works use update ComboUpdate 10.6.7. USB Other than keyboard and mouse/trackball: For audio use dedicated external audio interfaces and avoid the PC type PCI audio cards unless you know the manufacturer provides OS X drivers that fit in Snow Leopard 10.6.3, or 10.6.7 in case you updated to that level. I use the Alessis io2 with success, OS X recognises it without any driver hassle. External hard disks via USB 2 work without issues. Bluetooth USB sticks and USB flash work (Celect, Conceptronic, Lexmark, Sony, TDK), both LAN Network connections work at speed 1 Gigabit per second. Set the network speed of the server to manual (master) and set the speed of the connected computers to automatic (slave). ** The M-ultiBeast 3.9.0 checks: System Utilities (all) Drivers and Bootloaders, Kexts & Enablers, Disk (IOHCIBlockStorageInjector) Miscellaneous (FakeSMC, NullCPUPowermanagement) Drivers and Bootloaders, Bootloaders (Chimera v1.5.4 r1394) Customization, Boot Options (64-bit Apple Boot Screen, Instant Menu, PCI Configuration Fix) Customization, System Definitions, iMac (iMac 12,2) Customization, Themes (Chameleon RC5 Default) Implementing the 2nd CPU (CPU2 on the motherboard) and second 4GB Ram (minimum 8GB ram for dual quad-core E5440 Xeon system) The second E5440 Xeon processor chip must have its stepping match that of the first one. Here the configuration is as follows: cpu1 = Xeon E5440 SLANS (stepping 06) cpu2 = Xeon E5440 SLANS (stepping 06) (previously cpu2 was SLJJB but that caused the frequent boot mishaps) The stepping of both Xeon chips MUST match! in stepping otherwise the booting will be unstable and miss more than hit. Take my word, there is absolutely NO other way to get around this. The stepping of both Xeons MUST match. After 2 years of research and trials this is the final conclusion. PCI/PCIe Well there's only one PCI slot on the Intel SR1530CLR 's motherboard S5000VCL (Callahan) and it is paired with the PCIe x8 slot via a riser . It's not really a PCI but a PCI-X slot. An ordinary USB card in the PCI slot wil work but all firewire cards I had didn't work. The Conceptronic dual USB 3 PCIe x1 card does work provided it has a PCI->PCIe converter between the card and the PCI slot , however we have then a powerbutton issue and a system which always starts itself up when shut down. Anyway, it's a server system so bulk data are transfered via networks instead of USB3. Audio There's no on-board audio on this motherboard. Concerning audio PCI there's an Envy-24 driver for Snow Leopard with which you can drive a number of audio I/O boards who use the Envy-24 chip. External audio works using the Alesis io2 via USB. note: Digital Audio production Workstation software Reaper for OSX makes streaming multitrack audio possible from one system to another of whatever OS platform. Setting up a 3rd display The Eclipse USB 2 VGA adapter that comes with its own OS X driver on the included CD (Leopard and Snow Leopard) did work on this hackintosh . A problem with this Eclipsetouch SEE2 UV150 is that it ignores color profiles . This means that if you have bad luck with the brand or model of monitor you connect to it you may have loss of detail in the highlight regions and this cannot be fixed with color profiling. Alternative Casing You won't be able to close the casing once the graphics card is installed. The factory installed cooling ventilators are loud. This is normal for a server system. You can replace the cooling with a more silent LGA771 tower type cooling sink. A cooler for any other type of socket may work provided the parts of the sink allow minor repositioning to allign with the LGA771 hole positions on the motherboard. MAKE SURE you then provide extra cooling on the chipset and RAM sinks since the airflow has lost effectiveness with an open case. I got rid of the server case and jammed the server's motherboard in a 15 year old however solid state free of rust upright ELEPHANT tower case. ELEPHANT because it weighs a ton and that's darn good anti-theft All ventilators run at a minimum as possible speed without BIOS feedback: power management is set to open loop in the BIOS settings. The hottest items are the memory DDR2 so extra cooling was provided for them. DISCLAIMER: I don't recommend to do as I did and described here because I do not want to be held responsible for your exposure to fire, electrocution or any other hazard by making a hackintosh to my example. When I was running on 10.7.3 everything was running fine, since my upgrade to 10.7.4 I have a number of issues including lspci reporting my cpu as a xeon e3-1200 (it's actually an i5 and reported correctly on 10.7.3)?? My other strange issues include my wireless no longer obtains a correct ip address unless the ethernet is plugged in (it seemingly makes a random one up)?? Off topic question, if I re-install 10.7.3 over the top of my existing installation, will I retain my apps and/or data? Any help or advice much appreciated.

  23. Hello. I am using VMWare Player 12 (Workstation 7.1) on Windows Server 2008 x64 (I know, irrelevant). The CPU of the system is an old Xeon 5150. I have masked the CPU in vmx file with the following value: cpuid.1.eax = "0000:0000:0000:0001:0000:0110:1010:0101" On an attempt to boot, I get the following kernel panic error: The SecurAble tool shows this: Is there any chance I could run Sierra on this hardware?     Xeon E5450 with Nvidia GPU glitch

    Hi guys, I have a weird problem using an Xeon E5450(775 modded) with nvidia card(8600gt & Quadro 580 FX same problem). First I want to say that in windows I don't have any problem, so it's not something about compatibility. When I try to boot in macOS with this cpu and nvidia video card I get only a glitch displayed(see attachments), the computer isn't froze, I can access it with ssh or file sharing, only no image. If I boot with nv_disable=1 flag I get image(no acceleration of course) and everything's fine. I tried the cpu on 2 different boards and 2 different nvidia cards and the problem is the same. With amd video card I don't have this problem. What I tried and failed: Deleting injection from dsdt and injecting or not injecting with clover. Using nvidia web drivers. Changing CPU settings from bios, like virtualisation, speedstep etc. Different macos versions(10.11, 10.12, 10.13) The hack I want to use with this CPU is the Desktop from signature, I can provide dsdt or entire efi if it's needed but I don't think it matters since I have the same problem with 2 different boards and 2 different nvidia cards.
