  1. KX AUDIO DRIVER MOD Hi guys i am a small developer, i really like to use my sound blaster cards on my machines and i love also coding, so when i find the source code for the kx audio driver on git hub and then Eugene, the creator of kx audio driver decided to no longer maintain the project, i decided to start working on a mod of this driver. With my mod, created starting from the sources of the last version of kx audio driver, and also by using apple developer documentation for pci and audio drivers as reference, i am working to achieve 2 things mainly: get all the cards supported by the driver to work with all the recent versions os macOS and add support for other cards that are not officially supported by the driver that works or could, but needs to be more properly supported. This driver is made to support cards based on the E-mu 10k1, 10k2 and similars (like what is used by audigy rx and audigy 4 cards). Supported cards are: - most of the sound blaster live!, live! 5.1 and live! 5.1 digital series - sound blaster 512 - sound blaster 256 - other creative and e-mu sound cards based on the 10k1 chip (cards with the ES1370/ES1371/ES1372/ES1373 chips are not supported) - sound blaster Audigy series (1 st gen) - sound blaster Audigy 2 and audigy 2 zs series - E-MU cards based on the 10k2 sound chip - Some Audigy 4 cards (SB0610 only) and the audigy 4 pro - Sound blaster Audigy RX (sb0155) - other creative and e-mu cards based on the (10k2, 10k2,5 and CA10300 based cards) NOT supported cards: - Any ISA Sound card - ES1370/ES1371/ES1372/ES1373 based sound cards - CMI8738/CMI8788 based cards - Any CA0106 based card and cards with similar architectures (like sound blaster live! 24 bit, sound blaster audigy SE SB0570, audigy LS and similars, but audigy SA is supported) - Any sound blaster x-fi (some of them works on macOS using a modified version of voodoo hda) - Any sound blaster recon3D - Any sound blaster Z/ZS/ZX and similar series - Any sound blaster AE5 series In the time being the things i have modded or added with this mod are: - increased the simple buffer frames number with different values for emu10k1 based cards and emu10k2 based cards (including recent audigy 4 and rx) to reduce and all the audio cracking issues and possibly fixing all of them on a lot of cards - added a more proper support for the pci express sound blaster audigy rx (which basically is an audigy 4 with a pcie bridge chip) - added more fancy names for the cards in the settings and other menus (so the name will be, for example, SB live! 5.1 SB0060 instead of kx SB0060 [e880] witch was shown in the original driver) - added support to sample rate changing and added lots of sample rates (from 8 khz to 176,4 khz) to accomodate any possible usecase (note that 10k1 sound cards are limited up to 48khz sample rate, and 10k2 based cards are limited to 176,4 khz because of issues getting 192 khz to work, for now the driver goes up to 176,4 khz for such cards) - added boot args to manage the driver: Boot args to use with the kx audio driver mod: -kx_disable or -kxdisable or -kxoff This will prevent the driver from doing any initialization work, so the driver is basically disabled, use it to boot your ssytem in case the driver is giving you issues and kernel panics while you are trying to boot/using your system, so you are able to remove this driver or replace it with another version of it or to do some truble shooting. -kx_debug or -kxdebug or -kxspec Will show more debug info about the card, mainly the i/o port address and the kind of bus that it uses -kx_exp_deb or -kx_beta or -kxbeta Will enable experimental and probably not working or unstable features like showing inputs for the card or 192 khz sampling rate, use it only for testing and debug purposes, this may likely cause instability and problems in the everyday usage! Use it at your own risk! -kx_original or -kxoriginal This will basically turn off almost all the mods of this mod, so the driver will come to work as it was before modding it, this can be usefoul as a "safe mode" like feture to have a working driver in case of problems with features of the mod, so using this means no crsking issues improvements, only 48 khz sample rate and only features of the non-modded kx audio driver for mac os x - created a script file to use with the driver for installing the driver and also to load/unload, update, repolace it and it's libraries. What i'd like to implement but i don't know how to do: - I'd like mainly to add a more proper support to the pci bridge chip of the audigy rx, - have audio inputs working, - fix the support when using more than one card, to get all the cards shown in the settings and other menus, - have the gameport/midi port of older cards to be used in mac os as a midi in/out If other developers would like to join and help me, you can, and also an hand from other people with testing and feedback will be nice. link for the kext only (if you have clover put it in [your clover efi folder]/clover/kexts/[your macOS version]/ so it will not be deleted when updating macOS): - download from the downloads section: kX Audio Driver Mod by ITzTravelInTime 1.01 - external download: https://dl.dropboxus...Driver.kext.zip link for the installer pack (the best way to install it, but you have to reinstall it when you upgrade macOS, remeber to fix kext permitions and rebuild the kernelcache if you want to remove the kext from it's install directory without using the unistall feature of the provvided script): - download: https://dl.dropboxus...aller pack.zip Source code from Git Hub: - github repo: https://github.com/ITzTravelInTime/kx-audio-driver NOTE: Some system because of some problems with the HPET may need to use FixHPET in clover and to install the kext in /System/Library/Extensions or to do other kind of hpet mods to run the driver properly, but only on some systems, most systems should not require it

  3. Some users claim that using VoodooHDA they hear loud bump at system start and sound in system comes with noise. Although this can be repaired with existing drivers I propose a version that do this automatically. It started silently and have very clear output. The file is compiled as 32/64 and works from 10.6 up to 10.12. VoodooHDA.kext-289.zip The sources is in my signature. There is a VoodooHDA,prefPane compatible with Sierra VoodooHDA.prefPane-289.zip Now there is a version 2.9.0 by Zenith432. It can work with multichannel sound and play it on 5.1 analog system. 6. Hello, I have a problem with my sound after waking from sleep. While the outputs show up, the sound doesn't actually come out. In addition, pressing the volume up/down keys is laggy. My chipset is the realtek alc889 and my mobo is: EVGA 121-BL-E756-TR I have a custom patched DSDT in which I have changed my AZAL Device to HDEF and have installed a patched AppleHDA.kext (no HDA Enabler, just AppleHDA.kext). Anyway, looking in my console I have a lot of Sound Assertion Errors. Does anyone have any solutions?
  7. Hi, I installed Mountain Lion on VMware on a Ubuntu 12.04 host but the sound is really choppy, how can i solve this issue? Host (Asus A55VM): Linux Ubuntu 12.04 8GB RAM Intel i7 3610qm, 6M cache up to 3.3GHz 1TB HDD 2GB nvidia gt630m Guest: OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.2 Processor cores: 4 (2 processors x 2 cores) 150GB HDD Audio device: default 4GB RAM It seems to be a OSX only issue, i also have a windows VM under the same linux host and the audio works perfectly Is there a way to solve this?
  8. Hi everbody, At the moment I installed Mac (iatkos L2) and updated it, sound drivers weren't detected (instead of installing drivers with ##### 4.7). So I fix this problem this way: 1) Delete AppleHDA, install VoodoHDA and repair permissions. 2) Restart 3) Install Realtek 898 drivers (appropiate for my motherboard) 4) Restart After restarting, sound drivers were detected but I can't hear anything. Quick Time and iTunes don't plays anything by clicking play (VLC and Youtube works). I have diferent sound outputs (look at the attached picture) in my sound configuration panel and I try everyone of them. I also try to change the mini jac position but with the same result. Does someone knows what's happening? My computer: CPU: Intel Core i7-3820 3.60Ghz Box Socket 2011 Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-X79-UD3 Nvidia GTS 450 My MAC: iAtkos L2 (10.7.5 updated)

w520 cannot get audio to work

Finally frustrated and ready to ask for help after about 5 days of trying to get this working. I had audio on my headphone ports one day, but got greedy and tried a different version of voodoohda (unfortunately didn't back up settings before then) and have been back at nothing working for the last couple days. System: Lenovo w520 with Conexant 20672 OS: iAtkos ML2 -- Mountain Lion 10.8.5 Bootloader: Chimera Boot Kernel Flags: darkwake=0 -v PCIRootUID=1 dart=0 Error: Whenever I click on VoodooHDA prefpane I get "No VoodooHDA Devices Detected" Steps: - I have tried almost every version of VoodooHDA I can find. The two main guides for the w520 (http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/273621-guide-os-x-lion-on-thinkpad-w520/ and http://hackintosh-forum.de/wiki/index.php/Lenovo_ThinkPad_W520) both use voodooHDA 2.7.2) . I have also used the DSDT associated with both of those post to no avail. -also tried this voodooHDA (and the appleHDA associated with it) http://www.osx86.net/files/file/810-applehda-and-voodoohda-for-cx20588/ -also tried all the voodooHDA's in ##### -and this one: http://www.osx86.net/files/file/3713-voodoohda-with-working-mic-for-lenovo-u510/ (i'm almost 100% sure this is the one that worked before). -and probably a few more that I don't remember where I got them - I also have tried each with separate DSDTs from here (http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/273621-guide-os-x-lion-on-thinkpad-w520/ and http://hackintosh-forum.de/wiki/index.php/Lenovo_ThinkPad_W520) both use voodooHDA 2.7.2) - I have added my device-vendor ID as PrimaryMatch and as the ClassMatch, just as the Classmatch (without primary match row), and leaving Classmatch as same while adding PrimaryMatch Row. -i have used various device ids (see screenshots below to see my devices) { 0x506e14f1, 0x0bea10de, 0x1c208086 <- this is the one that worked } - I have added the HDEF section to my DSDT after trying it without. - I have done every combination of everything above. As I said, this has been a while of just working on the sound. Everything else works great! When the sound did work in my headphones that one time, it sounded great. I just got greedy and wanted my speakers to work since a lot of others seem to have gotten it to work. Each time I install a new version of voodoohda (either by the pkg file or KextWizard to install Kext) I rebuild the cahce, and restart. -Attached are screen shots of my devices in OS X and Windows 7, also my current dsdt, my mesg.txt, current version of voodoohda.kext, current appleHdadisabler.kext, and my current info.plist from current voodoohda.kext. Any help would be great. I can use my system fine without audio because I mainly program and write code, but it just feels weird not to hear the little dings and clicks. thanks for any help! dmesg.txt dsdt.aml.zip AppleHDADisabler.kext.zip VoodooHDA.kext.zip
  11. Hi, I got 10.7 (and 10.7.3) installed on my IONITX-G-E (ALC662 - I *believe*, not 100%). Everything works great except the sound over HDMI which is crucial in the HTPC role this hackintosh will play. The closest I've gotten has been with VoodooHDA 2.7.x which will at least show all the different output devices/ports, including HDMI, but won't play any sound. My volume bar is then also greyed out. Everything else either does nothing or gives me a kernel panic. Any ideas? Please help!
  12. Hi all, I got ASUS K95VM laptop with Intel Core i5 2500 MHz Ivy Bridge processor. Few months ago I successfully installed hackintosh (Mountain Lion 10.8.2) on it and since then I solved various issues and now it's working pretty stable, however couple things still bothers me. First, I found that my system clock is slowing in time, I mean when the computer works, for example, during 24 hours, I can see that clock is wrong about 3-4 minutes back, e.g. real time is 10:04 and I see 10:00. Just don't ask about System Preferences -> Date and Time -> Set date and time automatically - I know about this option and it helps for a while of course, but here's more general problem. I suspect that my processor maybe not working at full power, or I don't know... I tried setting FSB=100 and busratio=25 according to my cpu characteristics, but that didn't help. Another problem is that when I listen music or watching youtube videos the sound is initially fine, but in about a 30 seconds it starts crackling little by little and that crackling grows in time and after a minute it's hard to hear something in that noise. If I pause for a while, it gets back to normal but then again that thing repeats. I suspect that this problem is relevant to previous, though maybe not, maybe it's another problem. What I suggest is that sound desynchronize with real time and somehow that causes that effect. However, it's only suggesstion. I have VoodooHDA 2.7.3 as a sound driver, just FYI. So, any help about these issues is very appreciated, thanks in advance.
  13. Hey All, I'm new here so please go easy on me A little background: I need to run 10.6 as I still need to use older OSX apps (I make music and a few of my apps will only run <10.6) My specs are: ASUS P8P67 PRO (2103) 8Gb Kingston Hyper-X DDR3 @ 1833 i7 2600K O/C to 4.7 Barracuda 500Gb Ok, so I have done the following: Used a combination of the "other" boot cd called "Legacy" and the Andyboot cd found on this board to install base 10.6. Updated to 10.6.7 using combo update. Installed the "other" bootloader, then the P8P67PRO driver package from the same place as the Andyboot cd. Played around with the chameleon.org.boot.plist file until my grahics came back (from 10.6.4 to 10.6.7 my 8800GT 1Gb was only being recognised as a 16Mb Nvidia card). Tried to get sound and firewire recognised to no avail. So, I am now at 10.6.7 with my CPU being correctly ID'd (only the i7 bit, not the speed) and being able to boot with no CD (this took weeks of pain ) I have tried re-applying the Andy drivers but it doesn't make a difference. I have a couple of questions still: 1. Can I have an idiot-proof guide to geting my sond working please I know it's an ALC 892 . I've tried both the Andy drivers and the he "other" site but to no avail. It still says no sound device (not a game stopper as I am going to stick a PCI-E MOTU FW audio card in (anyone used this is a Hackintosh yet?) 2. How do I get the FW port seen by System Profiler? It shows up as a network device so I know the system sees it (again, not a huge biggie but I'd like it to work) Also, I'd like to update to 10.6.8 but seem to remember reading it breaks some stuff (like APCI kexts etc)..I have run the "update helper" from the "other" Hackintosh site and rebooted, but wouldn't mind some advice before I pull the update trigger Should I install the official NVIDIA drivers for this graphics card? Lastly, does anyone know if I will be able to get a NVIDIA GTX480 working in 10.6? I read somewhere that it will work in >10.7 but you need the CUDA drivers..as I say above, I don't want 10.7 (already runnig it on a MacPro hence my need to "downgrade" to 10.6 Thanks in advance and happy to screendump any logs etc All the best jake

    Microphone

Hello hackintosh community. There is only one step dividing me from having fully functional hackintosh. The only problem is my external microphone. (In-build microphone doesn't work for quite a while now (it is broken and stopped working over night), so I've managed to find the external one which is working great on Windows.) The problem with Mountain Lion is that i have to speak directly in my mic, almost touching it with my mouth. Even that way I can only hear myself through speakers, but when I open up Skype, microphone doesn't record at all, and I can't hear myself in test call, even if I speak directly to it. My Skype settings are fine, I've triple check it Is there anyone who had some similar problem, and solved this issue? Cheers I'm trying to get this mic working (Feinier FE-269)
  15. Hello everyone ! This is my first post to this site, which apparrently has a lot of stuff to read. I recently was given a Fujitsu Lifebook E751 notebook and decided to give a try testing a hackintosh. I started with Niresh Mavericks which was installed almost out of the box except the expected issue with the wireless intel card which is not supported and the following a) speakers have some sort of noise (like ssss...) I managed to eliminate the noise after user is logged to the system by trimming the "Voodoo-HDA Settings Loader" The internal digital stereo microphone is not working !!! while the external plugged to the jack input is working fine c) there is a third microphone that appears as "black unknown" and i estimate that is the microphone of the agere modem Any kind of help would be appreciated Thanks in advance Dennis
  16. Hello I have a Compaq Presario SR5233WM with snow leopard 10.6 installed. I am on safe mode because it seems that's the only way I can boot. Anyway I have tried AppleHDA Patchers which didn't work, I tried using VoodooHDA.kext, but it didn't work, and I tried using AzaliaAudio.kext, but it didn't work. I am becoming very frustrated and in system profiler it says "No Built In Audio". It seems I also have LegacyHDA.kext in s/l/e. HOW CAN I GET AUDIO?!?!?!? I AM GETTING VERY FRUSTRATED!!! please reply soon This is how I feel right now:
  17. Hello friends! OS X El Capitan 10.11.3 Asus K52F Intel Core i5 M480 Intel HD Graphics Conexant CX20585 ---------------- How to fix? ok, now the only problem was in platforms.xml.zlib (applehda.kext>resurces>platforms.xml.zlib) 1.open applehda.kext>resurces 2.convert file platforms.xml.zlib to platforms.xml (convert with special program Zlib xml convertor) 3.open this xml file with plist edit program 4.open root>CommonPeripheralDSP 5.delete 12,13,14....22 lines (1>11 = speaker lines, 12>22 microphone lines) 6.save file 7.convert file platforms.xml to zlib 8.install edited applehda.kext and rebuild cache don't understand or any problems? write me PM
  18. Hi. First time builder/hackintosher here. Please be nice. This thread is a continuation of my other one: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/291208-haswell-success-ga-z87m-d3h-gtx-670/ where I successfully installed OS X 10.8.4 onto my machine. In this post I will discuss features that (don't) work. 1. Power management: I think so, as I can boot without patched AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext or NullCPUPowerManagement.kext. Does this screenshot of Activity Monitor clarify anything? http://i.imgur.com/GsTWhdX.png What does it mean? EDIT: Turns out that I'm lacking a whole load of processor states. It makes a huge jump from 800MHz to 3.17GHz. To be continued. 2. Audio: Working in 10.8.5 with patched AppleHDA as of https://github.com/toleda/audio_ALC892 https://github.com/toleda/audio_kext_enabler (also attached). 3. Graphics: QE/CI works out of the box with EVGA GeForce GTX 670. 4. Ethernet: Realtek's official driver for OS X Lion 10.7 works: http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=13&PFid=5&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3 5. USB 3: Works (but I have only tested with USB 2 devices). AppleHDAEnabler1.zip PS2 Drivers.zip
  19. Hi, I use AppleALC v1.3.5, I can see the device in system info but no sound. Any idea? Thanks!
  20. Hello I'm having audio issues with my Dell Vostro 2520's microphone with VoodooHDA The internal microphone isn't detected, yet the microphone audio port is detected, and works. According to Windows and Dell, my laptop has the Cirrus Logic CS4213 codec in it, so if that's important, there it is. I am on Mavericks 10.9.5, since that works the best on this laptop, but would be open to try newer versions if things work well enough. I can provide my DSDT if needed.

  22. Hi all, since nvidia just released a pascal driver (and after loosing nearly 3 hours of my time making that damn driver work on my system) I only have one issue that still disturb me : The sound volume On windows if I turn my speakers to maximum, well this is really loud... that even neigbours could hear it ^^ On Hackintosh, when I turn my spearks to maximum it is like 10 times less loud... i would say it is like almost minimum sound on Windows. how can I fix this ? I did so many audio stuff that maybe I did something wrong. (not working at first, then wrong jack port...) It always was very weak sound, even when comming from other port... is there a trick, for example editing the VoodooHDA.kext's info.plist to boost the volume or to enable outpout gain ? I mean it is like there was no sound output gain ... like i said turning speaker's volume to maximum is not what I want. Because I don't want to make some hardware changes when I change OS ^^ Of course is something is needed like a clover config file or some information I'll try my best to give answers. Thanks in advance for your help.
  23. Hi ! 25. Hi! I read on an other forums that is possible to patch AppleHDA to disable console (IOLog) messages. My AppleHDA.kext spamming my console with "Sound assertion "kTypePinComplex != fType" failed in AppleHDAWidget at line 2043 goto Exit" message in every 30sec! But my sound works fine... Anyone knows how to patch AppleHDA.kext to disable this message? Please!
