1. hi guys, Im hoping some one can help me out of this jam. maybe this is an easy fix but im lost. I've been running yosemite for years on my asus N53SV but i figured its time to upgrade.. and since i was told mojave its too much trouble im fine with going to High Sierra. my issue is this: I created a usb boot and grabbed a clover folder from a website that claimed everything worked out of the box. i was able to boot in to the setup screen, however my image looks all distorted. im guessing it has something to do with the fact that i replaced the panel on my laptop from a 720P to a 1080p display. i was able to solve this same issue when i was on yosemite by using a patched DSDT but if i use that same old patch DSDT then i get issues/conflicts like my internal keyboard and trackpad not working. This are my specs: ASUS N53SV HD3000 1080p i7 2670qm 512 GB SSD 8GB Ram maybe someone can point me in the right direction.. Im attaching aa picture in case someone has seen this issue before. Thanks
2. Hello everyone, it sure has been a while since I last posted here. I'm trying to upgrade my Hackintosh to High Sierra, and right now it's running Sierra which I installed last year. My hardware is a Gigabyte Z68MA-D2H-B3 mobo with Intel Core i5-2500K. Unfortunately, I can't even run the installer. I have an installer USB stick with Clover 4558 on it, and whenever I try to run the installer from it, I get a KP after an extremely long boot process. There are so many panic messages that flash by so fast, but I think I got everything relevant in these pics.

Please Help Me!

Eventually I want a triple boot of Windows 7, Lion, and Ununtu. I am having a lot of trouble with getting a functional system with mac osx. I'll try to explain my entire situation because I have been troubleshooting for weeks now and am really stuck. I really want this to work and it would kill me to give up. My build: Motherboard: GA-Z68XP-UD3P rev 1.3 with F5 bios CPU: Intel i7 2006k sandy bridge GPU: GIGABYTE GV-R545D3-1GI Radeon HD 5450 1GB Ram: Corsair Vengeance 16gb (4 x 4gb) 240-Pin DDR3 PSU: Rosewill BRONZE Series RBR1000-M 1000W Optical Drive: SATA 12X Blu-ray Burner Hard Drives: 1tb Seagate 7200rpm for windows 7, 320gb Western Digital, 2tb not even hooked up yet Now that that is out of the way here is some more information. I already own an imac. I have a retail SL and I did purchase Lion and it is already working on my imac. The main reason I want a hackintosh is for Final Cut Studio and video editing in general. When I go off to college I can't take my imac. Also macs are simply fun to use. What I have tried so far... I tried following Tonymac's guide found here Yes I have tried getting support on that forum and for my specific mobo on that fourm but pretty much still having the same problems. I changed my bios to the recommended settings: optimized defaults, hpet mode 64-bit, and sata mode ascii. For the SL install i left only 4gb of ram in the slot furthest away from my cpu, I took out my graphics card, and the only sata ports that are being used are Sata0 and Sata1 for my disk drive and WD 320gb hard drive to install os x on. My webcam, ethernet, and all other usb devices are uplugged besides keyboard and mouse. I am using the hdmi slot built in for my monitor. Where everything goes wrong... I make it through the entire install of SL using ##### and my retail SL disk. I made a custom dsdt using a dsdt editor i transferred over from a portable hard drive. I ran the updates to get to 10.6.8 and selected these options in #####, which were recommended for my board. After the install of ##### is finished and it's time to restart the problems start. If i boot from hard disk my system either becomes in an infinite boot loop or stops at the grey screen. If i try booting the os with ##### my system gets a kernal panic or gets stuck at the grey screen. I can boot in safe mode but even after trying different things with ##### i have no luck. I tried going to lion while in safe mode my the app store can't authorize my computer and let me sign in, w.e. for now because staying on snow leopard isn't the worst. Since I can't boot normally I thought I should add that my audio does not work in safe mode but i can connect to the internet using ethernet. I have not tried putting in my graphics card or the rest of my ram yet. I have tried using the dsdt provided on tomymac forums, usually I get a kernal panic. Thanks you so much if you took the time to read this and offer support, Merry Christmas!
4. Hi everyone! I've searched high and low for a fix to my problem, to no avail. I'm hoping someone here can steer me in the right direction. Here's my situation: I have successfully installed Mountain Lion 10.8.5 on my Acer Aspire S3 ultrabook (which I was able to snag for only 250$!), using Clover as my bootloader. It is surprisingly compatible. Here's the specs: i3-2367M (1.4GHz) Sandy Bridge CPU Intel HD 3000 Graphics 4GB DDR3/USB 3.0/Bluetooth 4.0/Standard SATA Hard Disk Here's what currently works: Intel HD 3000 with full res. and QE/CI (after DSDT patch) Multitouch with latest Elan Touchpad drivers Audio with VoodooHDA 2.8.4 Shutdown/Restart Webcam USB 3.0 Wifi with USB dongle (the speed is actually quite good!) Here's my problem: Sleep doesn't work. If I could get sleep to work I'd be 100% content with this hackintosh. I have tried various DSDT edits (HPET, RTC), with no success. I have tried installing a patched 10.8.5 AppleIntelCPUPowermangement kext and removing NullCPU, but I am greeted with an instant kernel panic. Is there something about 10.8.5 that changed the way sleep mode works? I'm not picky; if someone could find a working sleepenabler kext, I'd be happy with that, too. Any suggestions?
5. I decided to install El Capitan 10.11.4 and Yosemite 10.10.5 on my kid old laptop for my wife to use. It turns out to be a perfect MacBookPro 8,1. Everything works except the card reader. 1. I installed an SSD on the DVD bay a long time ago, it's still working and very fast with El Capitan 10.11.4 on it. 2. I installed Yosemite 10.10.5 on the internal hard drive triple boot with Windows 7. 3. Built-in WIFI AR9285 and Ethernet AR8152 and Bluetooth 2.1 work perfectly. 4. All 4 USB ports work at 2.0 since there isn't any USB3.0. 5. Sleep/Wakes perfectly with lid close and button. 6. I create comprehensive videos on POST El Capitan and Patch DSDT and SSDTs from beginning to end using this Laptop as an example. How to check device ids and extract dsdt and ssdt in Windows. How to create El Capitan USB installer with Clover. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=itA7MQy8jx8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_15BlTF9BdY Cheers, Louis PS: Attached are the clover folder for Lenovo G770 with DSDT and SSDT, sleep, wake, battery CLOVER_G770.zip
6. Hi All, I've been struggling for a while trying to get any throttling of my Xeon E5-2620 (v1 thus Sandy Bridge). Using Asus P9X79WS, 10.9.2 (13C64, the release version), and RampageDev's clean SSDT-based installation with updated FakeSMC. Using PikeRAlpha's ssdtPRgen script (newest revisions), with various settings. Pike kindly added the v1 definitions for me, but I'd been hand-jamming them before. Tried without and with explicitly forcing SB cpu (-c 0) and xcpm (-w). Nothing I do budges the speed from 20x. Nothing lower unless I use NullCPU (then it naturally throttles between 12x and 20x). No turbo no matter what I do (yes, I specified -turbo 2500 with ssdtPRgen). 1. Has anyone got this chip (or very similar) to work? Esp. with the new PM methodology in Mavericks? 2. Any general hints in troubleshooting? I've re-done the installation and script gen fairly carefully, but I can't help but feel I'm missing something. Perhaps SB has just fallen into a gap in support and everyone is working only on the IB models as they're more focused on enthusiast home use (I do understand why, just that my use case is different and I bought back when V1 was out). Thanks much for any tips! David PS. Here is my SSDT-1 as of today: SSDT-1 as of 20140315
7. Okay, I'm new here, but I'm not new to Hackintosh - I've set up three different successful hackintoshes in the past, one shop-bought desktop, one custom built desktop, and one laptop. I just got a new desktop PC to play around with, and I want to install Mac OS X Yosemite on it. It's not playing ball. The graphics are completely broken, blank screen with drivers, and horrific graphical slowness and lag without. It's worth approaching this fromt the standpoint that more or less nothing aside from hard drive, cpu, ram and ethernet works. It's not pretty. Here's the core specifications: CPU: Intel Core i7 2600, 2nd gen, 1155, Sandy Bridge RAM: 8GB DDR3 HDD: 2TB SATA Hard Drive, 5400 RPM (Partitioned into two partitions, 1TB for Windows 8.1, and 1TB for Mac OS X. There's no problem with this, Chameleon works a dream!) GPU: nVidia Geforce GT 545, a 3GB edition (The main source of my problems, as I can't figure out how to get drivers to work!) There's additional parts, too. Here they are: Motherboard: HP IPISB-CH2, Intel H67, SATA AHCI controller (Has USB 3.0, and has integrated Intel HD Graphics 2000/3000 which may interfere, I'm not sure.) Ethernet: Realtek RTL8111E Wireless: Ralink RT5390 TV Card: Hauppauge WinTV DVB-T USB with IR Remote (model 133xxx) Sound: IDT 92HD89E Beats audio Disk Drive: SuperMulti Blu-ray Player drive And, finally, it has a multi-card reader. My goal is to get as much of this working smoothly with Yosemite as possibly - ideally without using a distribution, and just using a genuine Yosemite DMG. I tried Niresh's Yosemite distro and that has not been a success so far.
8. Installed on HP EliteBook 8540p, a Core i7 with 24 GB ram and two seagate momentus xt hybrid SSHDs (1000gb and 750gb), and an nvidia quadro 5100m. No boot flags. Thanks guys in the chat room for entertaining me while I got all this sorted out. Nice not to have to rely on a distro Process: 1. Booted into an existing Lion install, Download Mavericks installer from App store for free, and download MyHack latest. 2. Use Disk Utility to create a 10gb partition on a GPT partitioned drive, type Mac OS Journaled (HFS+), for myhack installer, and a big partition, same type, for Mavericks to be installed on. Instead of using a USB for MyHack I am using another partition on the hard disk. (SO much faster, and none of the stupid errors trying to boot from a USB. Thanks to dcai777 for the idea.) 3. Use the HP ProBook 6360b Boot Pack I found on osxlatitude. Add Extras. This will be needed to get working PS2 and Intel Ethernet (e1000e) 4. Boot from the Myhack partition and run the installer. You may or may not need a USB keyboard and/or mouse. Ports on the right side work. 5. Boot from the newly installed Mavericks partition. Used a tool that may be blacklisted from this site, to install Voodoo 2.8.4, HDAenabler, and USB3 Universal by Zenith432. This turned on my other USB ports and my audio. 6. (Thanks to Frontier314 for original post on this) Go into /S/L/E/VoodooHDA.kext/Contents/Info.plist and change VoodooHDAEnableVolumeChangeFix to true (then use Kext Wizard to repair/rebuild), in order to get the volume controls to actually control the volume. 7. Configure GRUB2 bootloader to also boot my new Mavericks installation using the following stanza in my /etc/grub.d/40_custom file (for you dual-boot linux / osx folks) Note: I have GRUB2 bootloader on an MBR hard disk with my other OSes (win7, various linuxes, osx Lion) and Mavericks installed on a GPT disk by itself for now. All OSes are booting from GRUB2 now. At some point I am going to attempt to get all of my OSes onto a GPT disk and see if they all work together on one disk. menuentry "Mac OS X Mavericks" --users jc { insmod part_gpt insmod hfsplus set root='hd1,gpt2' search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set <uuid of the maverick partition> multiboot /boot } Note on the Grub, it says invalid partition but boots up. It does the same with my Lion install on the MBR. not sure if it's something to do with the uuid stuff or not. Also, to get your uuid's in linux you can just do sudo blkid. 8. To get Airport, AirDrop, and full wifi: Replace Intel WLAN card with Broadcom 43224, which is in the whitelist: HP ProBook 4415S Wireless WiFi Card 518434-001 Install ProBookARPT.zip found by a google search, thanks to pokenguyen in insanelymac chat! 9. To get iMessage: Login to iCloud using my Apple ID. It was just spinning forever when trying to login to Messages, so I tried a bunch of stuff, including reinstalling latest Chameleon v2266 from the pkg installer, which fixed my GUI boot screen / theming came back.... and a thank you here to rampagedev for pointing me at some options.... but what ended up working was, I chose "Skip" then I went in to the Messages app > Preferences > and chose to log in to the apple ID and it worked! So.... In summary: WORKING: IDT Audio Nvidia Quadro NVS 5100M 1GB USB3 ports & USB2 ports Intel E1000e Ethernet AirPort/AirDrop/Wi-fi. iMessage/iCloud/AppStore NOT WORKING: Sleep seems to go and come back, but i think it just shuts the screen off. And breaks my (injected) wifi. And the speakers pop about every minute or so. So, no sleep. If i used sleep I would fight with DSDTs and such, but I don't. UNKNOWN: nothing at this time. I wanted to put this out on the wire in case anyone else wants to use the awesome, powerful Elitebook to run a hackintosh partition. Will update as i do more / test more. Thanks guys! And Joseph51423 for entertaining me in the chat room while helping us. You guys are great! Update 11/16/2013 - Fun GPT w/ Protective MBR project... I wanted to see if I could get Mavericks, Windows 7, and Kali Linux all playing nice on the same GPT drive. Basically, I did a lot of watching TrueImage progress bars for this job. Basically ended up with: /dev/sda1 unknown (the protective MBR hybrid) /dev/sda2 fat32 EFI (the EFI Bootloader for the GPT table) /dev/sda3 hfs+ Mavericks /dev/sda4 ntfs win7boot (System Reserved) (the windows bootloader) /dev/sda5 ntfs win7 /dev/sda6 ext4 kali /dev/sda7 linux-swap swap And for good measure, remove that disk, and throw a quick windows 8.1 install on a second hard disk, then put both disks back in. /dev/sdb1 ntfs win8 From a kali linux live usb: Had to install everything individually to a fresh drive, image it, and after all of the installations, then copy/paste everything around with gparted to get it all on the same drive. Used gdisk to create a protective MBR for 4 5 6 making all bootable. Perform a chroot grub installation and install it to /dev/sda to make it the main bootloader for the whole drive using --force because it's not supposed to work on a GPT/MBR very well. allow the /etc/grub.d scripts to run and find all my os's, then edit grub.cfg down to what i wanted to show, and use that to create my /etc/grub.d/40_custom file. re- update-grub Boot from a win8 dart usb (the 7 installers didn't work) to get a setup command prompt, and use some commands to get the win7 bootloader to re-recognize the win7 installation: bcdedit /store C:\boot\bcd /set {bootmgr} device partition=D: bcdedit /store C:\boot\bcd /set {default} device partition=D: bcdedit /store C:\boot\bcd /set {default} osdevice partition=D: Boot into each OS and celebrate a job well done!
9. Hi, I recently got a new laptop, Dell n5110, which packs an Intel Core i5 @2.4 GHz (Sandy Bridge, second generation), 4GB of RAM (gonna be upgraded soon to 8GB ) and an nVidia 525 w/ 1GB RAM. I already got WIndows 7 Ultimate on it and I would like to install the iAtkos Mountain Lion Developer Preview on it. The only issue is that I've also tried installing iAtkos L1 and L2 (had no luck, it tells me to start the magic trackpad or mouse, I also tried to plug in my USB mouse before booting, and the cursor moves, but the installation still tells me it doesn't detect anything) and S3V2 (doesn't work, on disc boot it gives me a kernel panic-"cpu(s) failing to respond to interrupts" or smth like that). I haven't yet tried iAtkos V7 but I don't intend to, because it's just useless, I think. Is there any chance that it could work if I tried booting the latest iAtkos with Mountain Lion? I really have no ideas left... I may try installing Lion with an ###### and a burned DVD, but I have to find all the kexts and everything..
10. Greetings InsanelyMac Community, I'm very interested in creating a Hackintosh out of my new computer, mainly for production purposes and because the MacOS platform is the middle ground between Linux (which I'm very familiar with) and Windows (which I'm not very fond of). I have purchased a Lion USB Key from Apple and have tried a few install methods I've found on these forums and Tonymacx86 though nothing has really worked. I haven't beenable to even load into the install program for Lion, so I'm not really sure what the best method of getting Lion and ultimately Mountain Lion are for my system. System Specs Biostar TPower X79 Motherboard Intel Core i7 3820 Sandy-Bridge CPU SanDisk Extreme 120 GB SSD WD Caviar Black 1TB HDD G.Skill Ripjaws Z Series 16GB 2133MHz RAM EVGA GeForce 670 GTX GPU I don't even know if its possible, but any help or guides would be fantastic. I don't know much about DSDT editing and specific hardware kexts, but thank you in advanced for your help!
11. A couple of months ago I finally succeeded in transforming my Medion Akoya E6221 laptop in a fully functional hackintosh (http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/304259-medion-akoya-e6221/). The subject of interest in this post will be the appstore. Until last week I could connect to the appstore and download as well. Unfortunately this is not the case anymore. When I try to connect I am looking at the coloured wheel for a couple of minutes and then it sais "Cannot connect to the appstore". Sometimes it comes up with this message rightaway. In some rare cases it sais "connection failed". I am quite sure that I do not have a verification problem (I have dealt with en0, ethernetbuiltin and so at installation time a couple of monts ago). I have noticed that it sais "serial number not available" in the system overview (after clicking on "About this Mac" ). Now I am afraid that Apple has detected that I am using non-Apple hardware and has blacklisted me in some way or another. So I started reading and must have seen a zillion posts about related problems. I have tried all kinds of suggestions but no luck whatsoever. Extra information: Perhaps I have done something stupid: A friend of mine has her picture collection only on an USB stick since she got rid of her desktop in an impulse after buying an Ipad (women...). When she realized that she could not look at this collection anymore she turned to me for a solution. I am not familiar with Icloud bit I thought immediately to solve her problem by storing these pictures on the Idrive. Therefore I had to use her AppleID on my laptop. I succeeded in storing her pictures. But maybe I have caused my appstore problem myself by doing so. Anyway I need help. First of all: Why is it saying "Serialnumber not available" while there is a serial number in my smbios.plist (actually I finally put a real serial number there although that is a bit unethical, but that did not help either) Secondly: Is is possible to fool Apple in some (preferably legal) way. Thirdly: Am I on the right track in solving this problem? Thanks in advance for any help/suggestion!

13. Surprised to not see any posts about the best ZBOX so far here! It has a sandy bridge i3-2330M, HM65 Express chipset, HD3000 graphics, Built-in gigabit, wirelessN, and BT 3.0. Would love to get OSX installed! On my iMac I have Mountain lion from App store, created USB with newest version of ######. BIos defaults and sata to AHCI. Installed via -x. Boots via -x. Gigabit even worked with -x! ###### is another issue though. No amount of checkboxes seems to let me boot with anything other than -x. I also did the vanilla osx chamleon method but with the ###### install uSB and it now wont boot into -x either. Any recommendations? whoops! didnt know that that multiple monster thing was a curse word round these parts!
14. Hello. I am trying to get my Intel HD Graphics 3000 to work with full acceleration support and full resolution. Currently I am stuck with 1024x768 when the display is capable of 1600x900. I am running Sierra 10.12.3 and I am unable to change the SMBios from iMac14,2 Specifications are as follows: Make: Lenovo Model: ThinkPad T520 CPU: Intel Core i5 2540M 2.4GHz GPU: nVidia NVS 4200M + Intel HD Graphics 3000 (nVidia disabled) RAM: 8GB DDR3 HDD: 320GB Seagate HDD I am fairly new to Hackintosh/Hackbooks and have never successfully hackintoshed a device. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If any extra information is required I can provide.
