  1. Here's my driver for LSI MegaRAID SAS family of controllers called SASMegaRAID.kext. This one was requested few times at InsanelyMac and other Mac-related communities. Download link https://github.com/dukzcry/osx-goodies/releases or https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/files/file/306-sasmegaraidkext/ F.A.Q.: Q: I can't manage controller via supplied utility A: Only monitoring functional is supported, management is done via controller BIOS Q: Any chance to make cards based on SAS2208 chip work? A: Not currently, the chip belongs to the same family, but it requires a lot of handling different from common handling for supported cards. Q: The driver loads but my device doesn't show up anywhere in profiler. What should I do? A: Try inverting "PreferMSI" key value. It's under "Settings" dictionary in kext's plist. Q: macOS doesn't see my volumes A: Set them as virtual (logical) disks in controller's BIOS. If no luck try "Uncontiguous enumeration.zip" version. See full issue report https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/forums/topic/285197-driver-for-lsi-megaraid-sas-family/?do=findComment&comment=1987665 Q: Is it possible to push more from my setup? A: It may be. The plist from "Unsafe settings unlocked.zip" allows tweaking of dangerous options. Before playing with them you need to detach all HDDs with critical data and attach some spare HDD for doing the tweaks. The "MaxSGL" option is number of scatter gather list entries you controller can handle. The "MaxTransferSize" determines the maximum size of data transfer (in bytes) per request your controller can catch. If you set them to some enormously big value then they will be truncated to the max values your hardware can achieve (may still be not safe enough for successful data transfers). "MaxTransferSizePerSegment" does the same but for a single SGL entry (will never be larger than MaxTransferSize). For the tests you need to stick to the system.log and start a transfer of a >= 100gb data. If the settings you set are inappropriate, you'll see the I/O errors. Q: My Mac stopped to go sleep after i've loaded your kext.A: This is awaited. See https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/forums/topic/285197-driver-for-lsi-megaraid-sas-family/?do=findComment&comment=1986269 Use kext from "Unsafe settings unlocked.zip" and set "AllowSleep" key to true. Q: Your driver doesn't work for me. Are there any alternatives? A: Yes there is one https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/forums/topic/314799-guide-z820-el-capitan-the-great-guide-sucess/?do=findComment&comment=2556863

  3. Hi guys, I've had someone working to put together a system for me over the last several weeks. I've now got the machine but as I've been putting it through it's paces we are discovering a few problems. Just throwing some questions out there as we are both getting to the point of being quite frustrated and any help will be greatly appreciated! Now just to clarify, I didn't build this machine myself but have been helping to sort out quirks as they arise. I'm probably capable of trying out most fixes but anything a bit over my head I'll pass on to the builder to carry out. Just trying to save a bit of time if I can do some things my self seeing as the machine is at my place. We've also been at it pretty much full time for nearly 8 weeks. These are the specs (any other info you need just ask & I will find out): EVGA SR-2 motherboard 2 x 6 core Xeon 5679 3.2GHz (12 core/24 thread) 32GB ECC RAM (4 x 8GB) GTX570 MSI twin frozr II OCZ Agitlity 3 240GB OSX system drive (6Gb/s data connection) OCZ Agitlity 3 120GB Windows system drive (6Gb/s data connection) Noctua DH14 coolers Ethernet adapter (PCI-E Slot 5) Areca 1213-4i RAID card (4x2TB WD black RAID 5) (PCI-E Slot 6) FireWire 800 adapter (PCI-E Slot 7) Sleep and related performance issues I get pretty low geek bench scores of around 18,000 before sleep, which then go up to around 24,500 if the machine is put to sleep then woken up again. Cinebench CPU and GPU benchmarks also increase quite a lot post-sleep, OpenGL scores can be as low as 11fps pre-sleep and 30fps or more post-sleep. The scores are also not very consistent pre-sleep. I am not able to wake the machine from sleep at all if any overclock settings are applied. I planned to run the machine permanently at a mild 3.6GHz but it enters a cycle of attempting to power on. Fans spin up for a few seconds, then it dies and repeats the process every 5 seconds or so. It has also happened a few times with no over clock settings applied, when sometimes the fans spin permanently but nothing else happens. Firewire is not detected/functioning before sleep but works after sleep. BIOS Resetting Every time the machine fails to wake from sleep, or I need to restart the machine for any reason, the BIOS settings randomly reset. I need to go in and adjust the AHCI, power management settings etc. almost every time. Sometimes it will takes several attempts for the settings to stick before it will boot successfully. So thanks for reading if you got this far, I believe this machine has great potential and really want to get it going! I look forward to any responses! Best regards, Danny
  4. I've been multibooting OS X Yosemite and Windows 8.1 Pro for a while now, and I've finally come across an actual issue. I've just installed 2 1TB Western Digital Caviar Black drives to be used as a RAID 0 cache disk in Windows for my editing applications. I followed the windows raid setup, and make a RAID 0 with 16k sectors. When I boot into OS X, the login hangs for a couple of seconds and I get two identical error messages stating that the disks are not readable, and gives me three options: Initialize, Ignore, Eject. Currently, I'm just ignoring as I don't know what Initialize will do. Should I initialize the drives from the error message, or should I restart the raid process and make the volume in Disk Utility, but make it compatible for Windows? Or is there a fix for preventing OS X from trying to mount the drives in the first place? If so, would it be in the Clover Configurator? Thanks, Pro
Vorrei rimediare diversamente.
  6. Hi to all, this is my first post here! I want to set up a mac os x server for my internal needs, actually i've a linux machine with virtualization stuff installed on. My actual server uses a 8x500gb hdd connected to a LSI 8408E raid controller as storage and i want to use this in my mac os x based server. From what i understand this controller isin't supported by lsi kext, but i've founded only old discussions :\ ( http://www.insanelym...dpost&p=1409995 ) Any news? Thank you!
  7. Hi, I've been looking into getting two 120GB Samsung 830 SSDs to run in raid 0. I have a Mid 2010 MBP 15" 2.66 i7. Now the OSX raid 0 is the easier part but I've read on macrumors that you cannot boot Windows from a raid that contains a SATA HDD set to ODD instead of slave or master in the EFI. Is this true? I've searched around but all I seem to be getting is Hackintosh discussion results and If it is true can the settings be changed?
  8. Man am I ever considering downgrading back to Lion! Had the perfect setup running, even with sleep and power management working 100%. Since upgrading to the latest "improvement" by Apple, nothing but headaches. My biggest one as follows: I've tried everything in my arsenal to try and get the damn thing to work, but I just cannot seem to get iCloud/iMessages/FaceTime to work on my RAID 0 Hackintosh setup. Works fine when booting up from a single disk. Have used ALL the tricks known to man, such as adding my Ethernet EFI to com.apple.boot.plist / org.chameleon.Boot.plist, Adding "EthernetBuiltIn" flag, Creating a System Id with my mac address and adding that to org.chameleon.Boot.plist, removing the Network connections plist and deleting all devices under the network control panel, creating a new smbios.plist, blah {censored} blah, and NOTHING seems to work. The ONLY time I can ever get it to work is if I clone my raid drive to a single HD, boot up from that, login to all these services, and then clone the single drive back over to my RAID drives, and everything now works being that it remembers the previous logins. However, this is only temporary until the next software update is released by Apple, then I'm back to square one. I'm really getting frustrated with this, and being that these services are almost the entire reason I even use ML to begin with make me want to scrap using a RAID configuration all together and buy a larger SSD instead. I hoping to find a solution and beg you all for your insight. Thanks. -One hell of a disgruntled hackintosher.
  9. This project is actually two years old, but despite the aging SATA standard, still current as an idea. And of course - conforming hackintosh different thinking. I invite you to my shop for a short film of the "Do it yourself" series.
  10. Hello every one, I had an old software raid set on 4 drives (strip) back from 10.6 and used it 100% till 10.8 then went to 10.10.2 and it still worked. This raid is not where the booting is taking place, data drive only. Have SSD for the OS. So all 4 drives are in a strip for data drive. So I just got 4 more drives to replace my old ones and created the same thing. Clover is hanging at scanning entries. Was going to turn off scanning ....... I tried all day to add my drives in the GUI of the clover configuration. I cant get them to show up to save my life. I tried every UUID for my disk I could find, all partions. Theres two that show up when you do diskutil info disk0s1 ect ..... Then pressed F2 at clover and got the pciroot from the log. Have no clue what Im really doing but i'm not a noob. Ive never used clover until now. I read every guide I could find including the clover wiki. Any thoughts ??? if I put my old four drives back in, it will boot ? WTF ?
  11. Hey guys/gals, I got a sucessful Yosemite set up and I want to switch my motherboard to RAID so that I can RAID 0 two drives for windows, i dont plan to install OS X to these drives but the drive will be connected to the RAID controller. I have an ASUS Gryphon Z87 with built in Intel chipset and am using Chimera as a boot loader, so if anyone can point me to kexts that will work thatd be great Thank you
  12. Successfully installed Mavericks on my system in a day, now I'm wondering if hardware RAID is possible. I'm running my machine on an old P5B Deluxe board which has an ICH8R south bridge which supports RAID. Currently my system only boots with AHCI option, I'm wondering if RAID will be possible? Thanks!
  13. Hiya everybody, I got some issues here... I've been searching loads of things about hackintosh and stuff everywhere but I couldn't find the answer for this.. My case seems to be so odd! What I want to do is install Mountain Lion in the same drive as Windows 7 is installed (in a different partition obviously) and have dual boot with both. I don't want to reinstall Windows or format anything in the drive (I already got a partition separated for Mountain Lion that can be formatted of whatever needed). My disk is MBR and I'm using it in RAID with an SSD using the "Intel Smart Response Technology" (only for Windows, I suppose), and my MOBO has UEFI. Another thing is that I don't have a Mac to use and prepare the USB drive (I'd prefer to install it from a USB drive). (If REALLY necessary I can get to use my friend's Mac as a last resort..) From what I've read my system should be compatible: CPU: Intel Core i5 3450 MOBO: Asrock Z77E-ITX VGA: MSI GTX 660Ti RAM: 2 x 8GB Corsair Vengeance HDD: 1.5TB Seagate (the main one) and 64GB Crucial M4 SSD (cache) I need to have Mountain Lion just so I can use Logic Pro.. (I'm doing Music Uni) And I can't live without Windows (Games and stuff)... Is what I'm trying to do even possible? How? If not, how can I make it work? Any thoughts? Thank you very much!
