YKWIA posted a topic in OSx86 10.13 (High Sierra)Just so you know, I'm not new to the hackintosh scene. I know how to set up a system and get it working... I do have some questions though... I'm considering a CHG70 or 90 as my new monitor and I found out that has HDR support. I know macOS has HDR for monitors support but I assume it's only for it's own monitors. If I plug my monitor into my graphics card, would it recognize it as HDR-capable or would I need to find a way to hack a solution? Secondly... I'm currently researching an SLI solution (CHG90's basically 2 16:9 monitors in one) and I have to know if it's impossible to do SLI. I'm going to be using MacOS as my main OS and I remember an early kext having SLI support. Based on what everyone here is doing (and based on the fact that AMD and NVIDIA have separate implementations of dual graphics technology.) would it be possible? Lastly, I'm going to be using Wine as a compatibility layer and I'm curious as to whether or not HDR will be able to translate into the games themselves or if the VSTs I use will be able to work. The last time I tried my VSTs and games it threw up errors and out of memory errors and I want to know if enough time has advanced that things are going to be different... Thank you.
I'm currently on a $1,000 budget. I got a build recommendation for that price on reddit, here it is: CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD3H ATX LGA1150 Motherboard Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport XT 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 660 Ti 2GB Video Card (I already own one of these, so this would be my second, so I can run SLI) Case: Corsair 500R White ATX Mid Tower Case Power Supply: SeaSonic S12II 620W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply I am looking into purchasing this computer to both play and develop games. I plan on making games for Windows, Android, iOS, and Macintosh platforms. I already own a May 2009 Macbook, but I'm afraid it wouldn't get the job done for me when it comes to making games, as I'm more of a desktop person. Because of that, I decided I would look into splitting Mac OS X and Windows 7 across my computer. Anyways, my questions are, -Will this hardware work with building a Macintosh? (I already know I can get just one of my 660 TIs working, and that SLI will not work with mac.) -In opinion, do you think that Mac would be a good OS to do these things: Texturing Video Editing Music Making -If the CPU did work with Mac, would I be able to use it if it was overclocked? Thank you.
I have decided to try and install OSx86 on my old lappy since Linux has became slower for my laptop. I have gotten Mac OS X Tiger beautifully running and updated it to 10.4.11 without any hitches. Now, I found out that many applications do not work on Tiger and needed Leopard to work. I checked the minimum specs for Leopard and I slightly above the minimum requirements for Leopard. So currently, I have two questions. 1. Will Leopard work on my laptop? And if it does, will there be a performance hit or no performance changes? Tiger runs fine on my laptop and pretty fast. 2. Can I upgrade my current Tiger to Leopard in some way? And will kexts from Tiger work on Leopard? Laptop specs: Compaq Presaio 2200 1.4GHz Intel Celeron Processor 512MB RAM 40GB HDD Intel 825/855GM Graphics Chipset (QE not supported on Tiger)
