  1. I have a Lenovo P52 laptop, Xeon E-2176M hexacore, 32GB mem, SSD, 4K display running VMware Workstation 15, latest darwin.iso. I freshly installed Mojave in a VM. The VM has 8 GB mem, 2 Proc, 2 Cores, 100GB single file disk. VMware Tools is installed in the VM. When I boot, it takes roughly 4-5 seconds for the Apple logo to show up (after the EFI boot) and then roughly 80 seconds to get the Apple desktop. Is this expected performance ? I know this is virtualized, but even my 2009 MacBook Pro boots faster than this. I have searched but not found any notes regarding performance. And related to video performance, if I start LaunchPad, it appears relatively quickly but if I select the "Other" folder which typically contains the Utilities, that may take 5 seconds to show up. I know this is a video performance issue but do not know how to fix this...
  2. Hello, Maybe i am the only one seeing this or maybe i am doing something wrong but my resize animation performance in HS 10.13.5 is terrible. I did a clean install of 10.13.5, installed the latest nvidia drivers 387.10.10.10.35.106. My GPU is a GTX1060 connected via DP to a 4k display. Now, the issue, when i open an empty TextEdit for example, if i drag the corner of the window to make it larger, it lags more and more as the size increases. I also have Adobe Audition CC installed for my work, the interface is very slow compared to the windows version (my 2011 macbook pro is much faster, but it's not 4k). Is there a known issue when running 4k on nvidia web drivers ? It's very frustrating because i've been using custom machines with 1080p displays and nvidia cards since Snow Leopard, but i was always butter smooth. Thanks.
  3. Hi, I've just installed Sierra in VMWare from a distro and everything seems to be working fine, except for the graphics performance. I have the newest tools installed and I've tried using the beamoff app. That, unfortunately, doesn't work on Sierra, since Apple has started using Metal instead of OpenGL. Any ideas?
  4. Hello, I have installed High Sierra and I realised that my SSD drive was reformatted to APFS (without problems, I don't believe it). Now I was wondering if there are any tips to make it work better in a Hackintosh, because the performance I think is more or less the same that which HFS+. Thanks guys!
  5. I have the latest Clover 3021 installed on my Z87 based motherboard and I have set no boot logs. I use the UEFI option to boot Clover and it makes about 45 seconds to go from the Bios screen to Clover's boot selector. After the timeout, the screen goes black for about 25 more seconds before I can see the verbose output of Yosemite's startup sequence. I find these numbers quite enormous and I seek help making them a little bit more acceptable. By contrast, my Windows 8.1 boot screen appears almost instantly after the Bios screen. An idea?
  6. Hello there, I currently have Mac OS X (10.7 Mountain Lion) running under VMWare Workstation 8 on Windows 7. I have 16GB of RAM and I dedicated 4 to MacOS X At first I wasn't very happy with the video performance. But after getting some SVGA II drivers here at Insanely Mac, I reckon the video performance is alright considering is a Virtual Machine. What I am looking for is a VM that would give me a fair 2D and at least some general audio playback capability (something tells me running Logic Pro under a VM would never be a good idea). I can't stop but wonder whether VirtualBox would be better than VMWare, mainly because with virtual box there aren't any hacks I must do in the virtualization software to run Mac OS X. I mean, with VMware I had to "unlock" Mac OS X as a guest OS option. Plus, perhaps I am wrong but I believe that it would also be easier to get audio and video? working at a better performance, since I reckon that Oracle thelselves would be working to provide decent drivers for Mac OS X under Virtual Box. Before I venture into trying to run Mac OS X under VirtualBox just for the sake of comparison (and risking wasting some precious time when I could be doing something more productive, like playing The Witcher 2 or diablo 3 ) I would rather "hear" what the community here has to say. What do you guys reckon? Also I never ran ######. on my Mac OS X VM as I thought this is only really necessary in "physical" (as in non-VMs) Mac OS X installs. But I have a feeling that I might be terribly wrong Any suggestions / recommendations are greatly appreciated. I am a total "noob" in the hackintosh scene. So my appologies in advance Cheers! P.
  7. Hey all, I just recently upgraded from Yosemite to El Capitan using the Clover direct upgrade method--it went down mostly without a hitch. On Yosemite, the thing ran beautifully, and never gave me a bit of trouble. However, since upgrading, my graphics are choppy and slow. You almost can't tell at first, until you start multi-tasking. A pretty low-specced MacBookPro absolutely trounces it, GUI graphical effects stay smooth, mission control etc... transition fine even with multiple windows open, hooked into the same external monitors. DVD, QuickTime, and (non-flash) Safari videos have a noticeably reduced framerate. Games have erratic frame dropping and skipping. 8. I have to say that thanks to this community it's been like 6 months since my Hackintosh is running perfectly stable, and El Capitan only improved things to better in my beloved Hack. I started this adventure of computing because I really wanted to use Logic Pro tools and some other tools of Apple that only run in Mac OS. All for my music. Mac OSX is a great operating system that has helped me achieve many things in a much faster and more reliable way than Windows. After trying Mac OS in my hacks, after all the DSDT and SSDT edits and patched and kexts and misc hahahah I have never ever wanted to boot Windows again. In fact I totally deleted my hard drive, and made a really smallish partition for Windows (I ocasionally like to emulate PS2 or PSP or play a bitof Skyrim ) and remaining 800 Gb for Macintosh. It has given me less headache and less trouble than my girlfriends MacbookPro hahha This stable little laptop (1st in signature) still has a lot to give hehehe I just made this post to show how thankful I am for our community to exist. It's great to be able to achieve the full potential of one self, and all thanks to the help of many great users here ... I think alot of us can be very thankful for all the helpful people that enjoy guiding newcomers. Once you learn about things, you see Hackintosh is a better way of living than windows. I am also happy Apple doesnt support this officially, otherwise our Hackintosh paradise would end, because so many people would be using OSX that we would have so many malwares and spywares created for Mac ... This way, the ones that are bold and intelligent enough to hackintosh can enjoy their experience, and relax
  9. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/files/file/31-vmware-tools-for-os-x-darwiniso/ Please tell me, what is the difference between the 8.5.6 and 8.5.5 versions of the VMWare tools for OS X ? Probably by mistake, the changelog for 8.5.6 and 8.5.5 is the same. What is a real changelog between them?
  10. Hello guys. I have successfully installed Sierra on my Gigabyte Z97n gaming 5. I have in my rig: Gigabyte Z97n gaming 5 Intel® Core™ i7-4790K Nvidia GTX 1060 (Web Drivers installed) Also I can share any additional info about my setup if thats required. For the moment everything works great except two things. My hackintosh sometimes start to performing very slow for approximately one minute. I have checked Activity Monitor processes and haven't noticed any weird or high resource dependent task. Everything just become very laggy, except graphical animations (for example no lag in dock reveal animation and in launchpad everything is smooth and not laggy from GPU perspective), so I suppose there is an issue with CPU, maybe with power management, but I'm not sure, because this problem is new to me. Second issue is not much serious, bet likely to be fixed. It is halt/reboot time. It may take up to 1.5 minute. I have used latest Clover distribution to boot in to hack. Attached my EFI/clover directory. To make video works i have used Lilu kext and NvidiaGraphicsFixup.kext For audio audio_cloverALC-120_v1.0f3 I tried to fix slowness issue using ssdtPRGen.sh script, whats i done is run ./ssdtPRGen.sh (without any args as I remember) and then put resulting ssdt.aml (not included to clover archive for the moment) to the patched folder of clover. But this has no impact. Sometimes I'm facing with performance drops as usual. This is very critical to me to fix this because I'm studying now to produce music and any perf drop leads to situation which is blocks me completely. Guys, really appreciate your time investment to help me. Here is Geekbench teasing result, may be useful, I don't know. CLOVER_without_ssdt.zip

  12. I recently embarked on a mission to set up the fastest virtual machine possible (OS X Mavericks running on Windows 8.1). I think I'm almost there. Note: This is not at all about hardware. My mission is simply to remove all bottlenecks. Background I wanted a Hackintosh. But I have a Dell Latitude E4310 with a BCM4313, a WiFi card which is not compatible with OS X, so I set out to run the OS in a virtual machine Software I'm using VMware Workstation 10, though Player 6 will probably also work, running on Windows 8.1 x64 Hardware Dell Latitude E4310, with Intel i5 processor and Intel HD Graphics (1st generation). 4GB RAM. 150GB WD Scorpio Black 7200RPM. Initial bottlenecks & issues Disk Graphics Network RAM Bottlenecks removed Disk Network Bottlenecks almost removed Graphics RAM Process Hardware & host First off, disk. Using a virtual disk was probably the largest bottleneck in the initial setup, so I knew I had to find another way. After some searching, this has been completely solved. Here's how. Create a partition on the hard drive. Mine is 38GB. Add this physical partition to the VM Edit the VMDK file. Remove all extent descriptions except the correct partition. Remove all of the UUID stuff. At the top, change createType to "fullDevice". Here's my VMDK file: # Disk DescriptorFile version=1 encoding="windows-1252" CID=4752fba3 parentCID=ffffffff isNativeSnapshot="no" createType="fullDevice" # Extent description RW 79687680 FLAT "\\.\PhysicalDrive0" 211916800 # The Disk Data Base #DDB ddb.adapterType = "ide" ddb.geometry.biosCylinders = "1024" ddb.geometry.biosHeads = "255" ddb.geometry.biosSectors = "63" ddb.geometry.cylinders = "16383" ddb.geometry.heads = "16" ddb.geometry.sectors = "63" ddb.longContentID = "00ccb28b97ee4e6bd3d16fec4752fba3" ddb.toolsVersion = "9409" ddb.uuid = "60 00 C2 93 91 9e 74 ec-87 2e a4 eb c3 51 f9 db" ddb.virtualHWVersion = "10" Network was easier. I use NAT since Bridged didn't always work for me. There shouldn't be any issues here. RAM shouldn't be too much of an issue. Just don't run anything other than VMware. I run my VM with 2.5GB, and it seems to work okay (I can run Chrome with a few tabs while running Activity Monitor, iTerm2, and Sublime Text). Software & Guest Time for graphics. Install the latest VMware tools and the awesome VMsvga2 driver (http://sourceforge.net/projects/vmsvga2/). Big thanks to Zenith432 for that! Set the vram size to 128MB. However, VMware imposes a 128MB limit for vram. I'm trying to find a way around this. Zenith says that VMsvga allocates more video memory when needed, but OS X doesn't recognize this. Graphics performance is still a bit laggy. This is meant to be a discussion thread. Post your suggestions! Cheers, Alfred
  13. Hi guys I just finish to upgrade my hackinthosh to El Capitan with clover. All work just fine, but i have a specific problem with streaming, i use Plex on this hackinthosh ( is my media server) and is connected to an apple Tv3 With OSX 10.10.5 this mac play video just fine no problem at all. But now with El Capitan the video freeze after 20 sec. I try a lot of fix with plex I replace the RealtekRTL8111 with the version 2.0.0 but there is no change. Transfer big files over the network from this hackintosh to my real mac works perfect !! so i remember that i was play with the sysctl.conf file I do a lot of test and changes even try to delete the file and leave all by default, but , finally get this file net.inet.tcp.delayed_ack=0 net.inet.tcp.sendspace=1042560 net.inet.tcp.recvspace=1042560 but i still have the streaming problem Any ideas ? My hackintosh have just the RealtekRTL8111.kext and the FakeSMC.kext all the other change are over clover This is my current config Clover version 3280 installed on EFI partition EFI 64 bits SATA option (my motherboard is not UEFI) <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>ACPI</key> <dict> <key>DSDT</key> <dict> <key>Debug</key> <false/> <key>DropOEM_DSM</key> <false/> <key>Fixes</key> <dict> <key>AddDTGP_0001</key> <true/> <key>AddHDMI_8000000</key> <true/> <key>AddPNLF_1000000</key> <true/> <key>DeleteUnused_400000</key> <true/> <key>FIX_ACST_4000000</key> <true/> <key>FIX_ADP1_800000</key> <true/> <key>FIX_RTC_20000</key> <true/> <key>FIX_S3D_2000000</key> <true/> <key>FixAirport_4000</key> <true/> <key>FixDarwin_0002</key> <true/> <key>FixDisplay_0100</key> <true/> <key>FixFirewire_0800</key> <true/> <key>FixHDA_8000</key> <true/> <key>FixHPET_0010</key> <true/> <key>FixIPIC_0040</key> <true/> <key>FixLAN_2000</key> <true/> <key>FixRegions_10000000</key> <true/> <key>FixSATA_0400</key> <true/> <key>FixSBUS_0080</key> <true/> <key>FixShutdown_0004</key> <true/> <key>FixUSB_1000</key> <true/> <key>NewWay_80000000</key> <true/> </dict> <key>Name</key> <string>DSDT.aml</string> <key>ReuseFFFF</key> <false/> </dict> <key>DropTables</key> <array> <dict> <key>Signature</key> <string>SSDT</string> <key>TableId</key> <string>Cpu0Ist</string> </dict> <dict> <key>Signature</key> <string>SSDT</string> <key>TableId</key> <string>CpuPm</string> </dict> <dict> <key>Signature</key> <string>DMAR</string> </dict> </array> <key>HaltEnabler</key> <true/> <key>SSDT</key> <dict> <key>DropOem</key> <false/> <key>Generate</key> <true/> </dict> </dict> <key>Boot</key> <dict> <key>Arguments</key> <string>kext-dev-mode=1 rootless=0 ncl=262144</string> <key>Debug</key> <false/> <key>DefaultLoader</key> <string>boot.efi</string> <key>DefaultVolume</key> <string>LastBootedVolume</string> <key>Legacy</key> <string>PBR</string> <key>Secure</key> <false/> <key>Timeout</key> <integer>5</integer> <key>XMPDetection</key> <false/> </dict> <key>Devices</key> <dict> <key>Audio</key> <dict> <key>Inject</key> <string>No</string> </dict> <key>USB</key> <dict> <key>AddClockID</key> <true/> <key>FixOwnership</key> <true/> <key>Inject</key> <true/> </dict> </dict> <key>GUI</key> <dict> <key>Mouse</key> <dict> <key>DoubleClick</key> <integer>500</integer> <key>Enabled</key> <false/> <key>Mirror</key> <false/> <key>Speed</key> <integer>8</integer> </dict> <key>Scan</key> <true/> <key>ScreenResolution</key> <string>1280x1024</string> <key>Theme</key> <string>Mavs Style</string> </dict> <key>Graphics</key> <dict> <key>Inject</key> <dict> <key>ATI</key> <false/> <key>Intel</key> <false/> <key>NVidia</key> <false/> </dict> <key>NvidiaSingle</key> <false/> </dict> <key>KernelAndKextPatches</key> <dict> <key>AppleRTC</key> <true/> <key>AsusAICPUPM</key> <false/> <key>Debug</key> <false/> <key>KernelCpu</key> <false/> <key>KernelHaswellE</key> <false/> <key>KernelLapic</key> <false/> <key>KernelPm</key> <false/> </dict> <key>RtVariables</key> <dict> <key>BooterConfig</key> <string>0x28</string> <key>CsrActiveConfig</key> <string>0x67</string> <key>MLB</key> <string>C02032109R5DC771H</string> <key>ROM</key> <string>UseMacAddr0</string> </dict> <key>SMBIOS</key> <dict> <key>BiosReleaseDate</key> <string>02/29/08</string> <key>BiosVendor</key> <string>Apple Inc.</string> <key>BiosVersion</key> <string>MP31.88Z.006C.B05.0802291410</string> <key>Board-ID</key> <string>Mac-F42C88C8</string> <key>BoardManufacturer</key> <string>Apple Inc.</string> <key>BoardType</key> <integer>11</integer> <key>ChassisAssetTag</key> <string>Pro-Enclosure</string> <key>ChassisManufacturer</key> <string>Apple Inc.</string> <key>ChassisType</key> <string>06</string> <key>Family</key> <string>Mac Pro</string> <key>Manufacturer</key> <string>Apple Inc.</string> <key>ProductName</key> <string>MacPro3,1</string> <key>SerialNumber</key> <string>CK916YQ5XYL</string> <key>Trust</key> <false/> <key>Version</key> <string>1.0</string> </dict> <key>SystemParameters</key> <dict> <key>InjectKexts</key> <string>Detect</string> <key>InjectSystemID</key> <true/> </dict> </dict> </plist> Any ideas ??? GPU Performance GTX 680

Hi I'm new here. Thanks for your hard work on AMD dev. Few question about performance AMD machine. My spec is: FX 8120@4.125 fsb 250 Asus m5a99x evo SSD + few HDD and most important 2x GTX 680 (EVGA 4GB) PCIe: x8 on both problems with FSB reading but no impact to work. Now i'm using Yosemity 10.10.1 (from yosemite zone). I'm a little bit noob about advanced configuration but i'm able to change required kext and change kernel. Earlier i was using maverick. Performance problems exists in maverick and yosemite (equally same). I change kernels, IO kext and no luck. 1) performance of opengl is around half of performance on Windows (Cinema benchmark) 2) CUDA work very well on both gpu (Blender) - simillar or a little bit better than Windows 3) Most important for me - Apple Motion - Ram preview stuck around 12-14 fps on HD video(but if i remove physically secondary GPU) works ok. 4) After Effects - oh there are strange things - when playing from ram preview there are few things if i change view in active camera to 100% drop to 11fps, 50% 15-16 fps; 1,5% realtime preview 14fps - it's strange becouse secondary display (mercury preview) display full HD size with full speed (of course if active view is resized to 1,5%) Please Help Chrome is also slow in Yosemite in maverick Work ok. ahh and playing full HD video by QT or other soft works also ok, even 60 fps. Marcin
  15. Hello, Does anyone have fully working speedstep with this setup? My performance results (Intel Power Gadget) are very unstable. Performance drops by time. First round with Cinebench or Geekbench sometimes "flatlines" (full turbo) but performance and frequency drops on 2nd and 3th round etc. I think I have read all posts and tried every combination of settings but I cannot get this work. Any help, please?
