How to shrink os x .vmdk in vmware workstation 12 As most people probably notice is that .vmdk file expands and never shrinks down back again it just gets bigger and bigger. The solution to fix this in vmware workstation 12 is this: Open terminal on your guest os OS X machine and run this command: Macintosh\ HD is the name of your harddrive so it might not be Macinthosh \HD for you so check that you type the correct name for your HardDrive. Use "sudo" instead of "su" if its yosemite or newer su diskutil secureErase freespace 0 Macintosh\ HD It will take some time and when it goes 90+% it will give you an error message that it ran out space and failed just ignore that and let it finish. When it has finished shutdown the Guest os and run this command in CMD (command prompt) as administrator on the main OS. path-of-vmware-folder\ vmware-vdiskmanager.exe -k path-of-virtual-machine\guest-name.vmdk Exampel of the one i had to use and dont forget the " " or you will get an error message and it wont start. C:\"Program Files (x86)\VMware\VMware Workstation\vmware-vdiskmanager.exe" -k "E:\Virtual Machines\OS X 10.9 Mavericks\OS X 10.9 Mavericks.vmdk" This will take some time also so but when its done your .vmdk will now be shrinked down to its real and correct size. I have added and changed so many files on my os x that it became 70gb+ in size but after running this it shrinked back down to just 10,4gb. The information was gathered from this blog but the commands he had didnt make vmware workstation 12 so it will look different from the blog and he didnt add su to the command and without it will stop. http://blog.oshim.net/2013/01/shrink-sparse-disk-image-of-mac-os-x.html

  5. Hello everyone, I have an Asus gl502vmk (i7 kabylake + GTX 1060 6 gb) laptop and I tried all the patches/kexts to get the brightness with fn keys/touchpad (I2C ELAN 1200 works with VooDoo I2C kext v1.0 but no gestures/preference pane)/Keyboard backlight to work but no success so far, any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance. [EDIT] (10/04/2018) Battery status now works, thanks to @RehabMan turned out to be incorrect SMBIOS (used iMac instead of Mbp) lol, but it drains crazy fast (~1.5 - 2 hours while on standby (all apps quited!), on windows 10 it lasts 4 - 5 hours, and on linux it lasts 6 ~ 7 hours!) And with VoodooI2C v2.0.1 + VoodooI2CHID kext and patched DSDT, the touchpad is now detected in the sys pref pane but still no input. Sound works with VoodooHDA v2.9.1, but the only issue is that the jack sense isn't working (the output device doesn't auto switch to headphone when connected) [EDIT 2] (11/04/2018) The system brightness now works thanks to @onejay09 but I have no brightness slider, and there are 4 extra brightness levels (brightness stops increasing after 12 levels) and the brightness keys are not mapped correctly, plus the brightness decreases when I plug in the ac adapter, then increases if I unplug it???, the brightness level isn't also saved after reboot. battery still drains crazy fast (~1.5 - 2 hours, even with brightness at 50%, so apparently it is a power management issue). and I also have shutdowns while in sleep mode (I tried darkwake=10 and darkwake-0 and darkwake=no) P.S. I have uploaded my new report files, thanks! Latest report files (11/04/2018): https://www95.zippyshare.com/v/AMOpP0AY/file.html

    Help Required

Hello, It's been a while since I last attempted to install OS X on some hardware and in honesty I'm confused about what to do with an AMD cpu If someone could help me identify which bootloader and kexts to use etc. I would greatly appreciate it. Specs: CPU - AMD FX-6350 GPU - Gainward GTX 660 2GB Motherboard - MSI 970 Gaming - http://www.msi.com/p...l#hero-overview RAM - 8GB of assorted budget DDR3 RAM I'm hoping to run the latest release of OS X which I believe at present is 10.10.5 Again , thank you for any help given
  8. Hi, I tried to install iATKOS S3 V2 on my old Acer Extensa 4620 (not 4620z). The installation worked (though I had to remove the battery), and i could not boot into the OS. So i tried -v -x, and it worked, and I could set it up. But the verbose mode showed a lot of errors about something like AppleUSBUHCI.kext not loading or something. The main issue is that my trackpad isnt working, usb mouse not working, wireless mouse also tried, not working. But the keyboard is working.! Any suggestions on how to get back my mouse(stuck on top left of screen)?? (Last resort, I can install it again, if someone tells me what drivers to enable, because the last install worked on some random selection of drivers) Thanks in advance ---------------------------------- SYSTEM SPECS (if required) [ If any more required, ask) ---------------------------------- Model : Acer Extensa 4620 Processer: Intel Core 2 Duo 2 GHz RAM : 3 GB DDR2 Graphics / Display : Mobile intel 965 express chipset family (I also see X3100 somewhere) BIOS : (Dont know for sure) Phoenix v1.00PARTTBL HDD : 160GB ?? In dxdiag, I found PS/2 devices connected :: HID Keyboard Device Standard PS/2 Keyboard PS/2 Compatible Mouse HID Compliant mouse. And also, my mouse and keyboard both worked DURING the install, but not after it ???? Edit: Reinstalling with the proper drivers might be better, if somebody provides me with a list of drivers
  9. Hello! I've been using this Hackintosh computer for a while and I've been quite happy with it since it works smoothly with a Ralink DWA-125 Wi-Fi dongle but I've been having this little issue I haven't found an answer to… My Wi-Fi connection freezes and collapses when I'm running apps as Logic or Pro Tools and when I try to load a webpage I get a "Unable to connect to the Internet" message, which appears not only on Chrome but also in Safari, Firefox and any other browser. I included a screenshot. I highly doubt it's a hardware problem since this didn't happen with iAtkos or Kalyway distros while using the same apps I mentioned above. How can I solve this issue? Thanks in advance! EDIT: Forgot to mention that I created the installer with MyHack and a retail 10.8 image. I had the same issue with 10.6 and 10.7, both installations created from retail images.
  10. https://vid.me/RAeO These are 2 different drives. One is purely Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 on the SSD, and the other is Windows 8.1 on a Hard Drive. Look at the 3 boot options there in Clover UEFI. Yes I installed Windows UEFI mode Also. SO heres my complaint. There are 3 extra options that don't work to boot into Windows. How Can I get rid of those? i just wanna keep the OS X Yosemite disk, the recovery partition for Yosemite and the last one on the right as that is the one that helps me boot into Windows. BTW can any one guide me through how to make a backup from my Hackintosh SSD to a hard drive partiton, on the same drive as windows? What I did to install windows on the HDD: Unplugged my SSD Plugged my HDD Put in the windows USB installer for Windows 8.1 clicked advanced setup, made sure drive was clean Let it install as usual Went through post install business such as updates and the drivers installation Plugged up my SSD for my Hackintosh, changed the boot to Timeout=2 in Clover Configurator Went to the clover bootloader screen and saw that.

  16. Hey there mates, I'm about to add an SSD to my rig for Windows and I plan on using my current 1TB drive for storage and games. I was just wondering if I could format that as GUID (or GPT in windows) and allocate 800GB~ for storage (formatted as NTFS) and the other 200GB~ for OS X (formatted as Journaled)? Would that be fine or will I run into a problem? Thanks
  17. Hi everyone, I'm having a weird issue, when I do certain tasks the OS freezes and becomes unresponsive, at that point the only way to "fix" that is force shutdown pressing the power button from laptop. The only two ways I reproduce that are: Using Box Sync, when that program starts syncing after a while (not to much) the OS hangs At first boot when OS restores opened programs and Google Chrome has a few tabs (like around, I don't know, 30 for example), Chrome starts restoring every tab and OS hangs after a little bit (while restoring tabs) Anybody experienced this or have any ideas about it? Thanks in advance. Best regards.

  20. Hey guys, I just have installed Yosemite on my HDD over the installer (I've used Nireshs distro if thats necessary) and then - like shown in the article - unplugged my USB pen and restarted my notebook then. But it always shows me then "Please insert a boot media and so on...."... when I try entering the BIOS (with UEFI Support), it shows me under "Boot Options" only my CD/DVD drive.... it doesn't show me "P0:XXXXXXXXX" anymore... Some infos: I've installed Chameleon EFI and Standard, but with only EFI or only Standard it's the same issue Same with Clover There is no option to select but it was before... Secure boot is also disabled like it was before and I'm just able to add a new boot option when my USB pen is plugged in but then just over the USB pen... I don't know what to do now... I have only 1 HDD on my notebook... before that procedure it showed me smth like: [(ubuntu) P0:XXXXXXXXXXXXXX-XXXXXX] [Windows Boot Manager (P0:XXXXXXXXXXXXX-XXXXXX] and now: [P1: CD/DVD Drive A] and nothing else... and I can't add something ... reinstalling with all bootloader and options didn't have solved the problem, I tried many things like marking that partition as boot in gparted (live disc)... but no success...
  21. Obviously, I know it has something to do with CPU power management or FakeSMC not initiating for some reason, but I've tried: Replacing FakeSMC with a new fresh one from RehabMan's repo booting with almost every flag i can think of trying to use a clean install from the terminal and with clover Using Pandora's Box to create the installer My specs are: Intel Core i3 - 4360 NVIDIA Gigabyte GeForce GTX 950 OC Edition (OC'd a bit) powering 2 monitors, 1 HDMI and 1 DVI. GA-Z97M-DS3H My machine is currently running 10.11.5 on El Capitan, and I've ran Yosemite on it before, so obviously it is capable, but I'm pretty confused at to why my machine won't boot the installer. The only issues I've ever run into were having to set up CodecCommander for my current Install using Clover. I'm booting UEFI btw. If anyone could help me out I'd really appreciate it. I can provide anything you need such as IOReg, etc.
  22. Alright, so I've been able to find guides for laptops similar to mine, but none that are PRECISELY for the Lenovo Thinkpad T440. Not the S model, but just the T440. I manged to pick this laptop up for a sweet deal on eBay, and i'd like to run MacOS on it if possible. Would it be fine to try a VM then try installing for real later? I have Windows 10 with a key already installed MBR/CSM Style and would like to keep it on here, if at all possible, but I could wipe it if necessary to do a UEFI boot. I initially wanted to try Sierra, but it seems Sierra is relatively undocumented for any similar thinkpad. My specs are as follows: Intel Core i5-4200U @ 1.6GHz, turbo boosts up to 2.3 Ghz 4GB Ram (going to another 4gb dimm) 500GB HDD (will eventually add a m.2 ssd later for macOS if it can be installed Thats about all the important specs, I think. If theres anything else necessary, I'd be glad to list it. (: I did manage to make an installer and boot it Legacy style into Sierra but the trackpad and keyboard didn't respond. It also took awhile to get to the installer. Is there a way I can Install to a USB or something to test it, or is a VM the best way to go about it for a test run? Thanks. Sorry for rambling.
  23. Installed ML on HP HDX 16 using ###### method. Then used Chameleon 2.1 as bootloader. Noted that after install, whenever I updated the boot config file (org.Chameleon.Boot.plist in /Extra) using GUI tools (e.g. Chameleon Wizard), the permissions would change and the system would freeze during booting. Upon closer inspection, I realized that the permissions on the file which allowed the system to boot fully was 666 (rw-rw-rw-). Every time the permission changed to prevent write permission to "group", "others", the system would refuse to boot. Changing them back to 666 (chmod 666 /Extra/org.chameleon.Boot.plist) would allow the system to boot smoothly again. So to everyone who encounter unexplained boot freezes, I would giving this a shot; it may just work out for you. PS: Sorry if this has been covered earlier; didn't search the forums.

    Update Help

Hello! I am looking to update my hackintosh to a more recent version of osx. I did not do the original build and don't know much about how it was completed. Right now I am running 10.6.4 and I'm looking to get at least to 10.6.8 if not a more recent build in the lion family. What is the easiest route to go about this update without losing my build?
