  1. Hi all. I own a laptop (ASUS N56VZ) very well hackintoshed. Pretty much everything works, except the external video ports (HDMI,VGA). Here are some specs : Intel i7 3630Q, Chipset HM67, nVidia GT650M, Intel HD4000 Unfortunately with OSX Mavericks, VGA can't be used anymore on HD4000, and I need to use an external monitor for work. The HDMI port is dedicated to the nVidia card, so the only way to have it was to disable the Integrated Graphics and use only Nvidia. Of course the system uses nVidia optimus engine for the switching mechanism, but I found a way to disable it via BIOS and use discrete graphics only (since I use it as a desktop replacement) It works very well on windows (HDMI only) of course but not on OSX unfortunately!! nVidia GT 650m appears to be loading ok (kext loaded and registered), but that's all! it does not go on. The weird thing is that I can't even boot into safe mode (-x) unless I delete nvidia drivers. Is there anybody who can help me? Here's what I did : -I tried both Clover and Chameleon, InjectNvidia on/off GraphicsEnabler on/off. -Installed 10.9 nVidia drivers over 10.9.2 -booted with and without my DSDT If you need any other kind of info to help me out just ask!! Thanks in advance!

  3. Hello. I own a Toshiba Satellite (Model P755-12F) and I've been trying to get Mac OS X working for quite a while with no success. The problem is the video arhitecture ( Intel HD3000 (on CPU) and nvidia optimus 540m). On further research I found out that there is no way to run both at the same time or just the nvidia one on OSX. So, the first thing that I tried was to request a bios unlock on a few forums so I could get access to the advanced options and disable the optimus. I ended up with no results. Then, I tried to use different Intel kexts, but that wouldn't have helped much, cause the bootloader would detect the nvidia card at boot and create further conflicts in the OS. Removing the nvidia (and ati) kexts didn't help much, the OS freezes when it's requested to do an action (randomly) and windows get stuck in plain animations with transparency (still funtional, but screwed up). So I noticed that the nvidia optimus has to be disabled before booting, and there were only 2 ways: DSDT or BIOS. Since the BIOS method failed already and I have no knowledge of DSDT editing, could someone edit my DSDT and remove the nvidia card from it? Thank you DSDT_SSDT(aml).zip
  4. Hello dear insanelymac forum members . Nowadays I am so confused about installing Mac OS X M.L. 10.8.x (with UEFI support) . I have heard about iAtkos ML3U but I am not sure what should I do .My laptop has a core i5 processor with Intel HD integrated graphics . And here comes my disaster ; it has an nvidia GPU too . (with cuda ) I would be very grateful if you can give me some guide links etc. ... Thanks for reading
  5. Hello, It makes now one week I try to hackintosh my new Acer Aspire V5-571G. It is not fully working, but at least, it starts. I tried to disable Nvidia Optimus (so the GeForce GT620M) by patching DSDT but I don't really know if is has worked.. Please some of you can take a look at my DSDT? I am not really an expert and tried to do my best, but I'm not sure I did right, I would like to know where I'm wrong! I also had some sleep issues and I am not able to use brightness controls.. Thanks for your help!
  6. Hello, I have n551JM CN201 asus laptop with Intel HD 4600 and NVIDIA 860m. The battery with Hackintosh is low because the Nvidia discharge the battery quickly. Can anyone help me to disable DSDT Patch My nvidia? My bootloader v2.3 clover. thanks DSDT.aml.zip
  7. Hi Everybody!! After messing around with many linux Distros, i've recently been attracted from the OS X, and wanted to get it working on my notebook. After many tries, following lot of different guides (non3 of them completely working to say the truth), I finally managed to install Lion 1.7.2 on my fresh Acer M3. The point of this Thread is help someone elsa with my hardware to accomplish this goal and, hopefully, get some help to make things works better (well, in some cases, just make them work would be enaugh :wink2:) see signature for complete hardware specs, anyway these are the main characteristics: Acer Mother board model MA50_HX (Bios: Insyde corp v1.08) Core i3-2377M Built-in HD3000 + nVidia Optimus discreete card nVidia GT640M Atheros AR9462 + NetLink BCM57780 Gigabit Ethernet PCIe Standard PS\2 built-in Keyboard + Elan PS\2 Port Smart Pad I've to say that I'm quite good at linux, but completely new to OSX so I'm just starting to understand Kext, smbios and so on... What i've used: 8gb USB stick iAtkos L2 dmg Chimera BootLoader (without this, touchpad isn't recognized during installation) Now that's what I've done: Downloaded iAtkos L2 dmg Installed it on VMWare (just to have a functional OSX for partitioning, restoring images etc), followed that guide that works really stright forward http://ilpico.it/wordpress/?p=2642 (It's in Italian, anyway if someone needs it I can traduce it) From Lion VMWare (or another working Mac OS), mounted the 8gb usb stick Entered Disk Utility, select the USB Stick, in "Partition" tab, selected 2 partition from the dropdown menu (i've used GUID partition table) Selected the first partition and changed size to something like 300-500MB, named it "boot" Selected the second partition and named it "iatkos" Partitioned the usb stick with this partition scheme. mounted iAtkosL2.dmg image in disk utility clicked on the mounted iatkosL2 image, and the in the expanded image Selected restore tab, dragged the expanded iatkosL2 image from the left inside the "source" field, dragged the "iatkos" partition inside the destination field. Proceeded to restore During the restore process, downloaded latest chimera bootloader pkg (i've used Version 1.9.2) When Restore process was complete (about 15-25min), opened the chimera pkg and then doble clicked the installer Proceeded througt the installation and changed the install destination to "boot" partition on my USB Stick When installation finishes, unmount partitions and rebooted At start up, selected the usb stick from boot menu In chimera boot loader, booted the iatkos image with -v GraphicsEnabler=No (otherwise the system tries to use the nVidia Card and cannot boot) Using chimera, when install screen arrives, touch pad was working, so proceeded trought the installation, initialized the partition i've wanted to use (i've used the whole 20GB SSD), selected only PS/2 Kext for making also the kayboard working. Also selected both Atheros driver but didnt' make my wifi card work. After install, booted in arch linux to remove every AppleIntelHD* and AppleIntelSNB* kext, otherwise boot hangs, even with GraphicsEnabler=No rebooted installation processes only for fixing permission trought disk utility Powered off and booted from SSD with GraphicsEnabler=No, this time i was able to reach the mail screen!! entered sytem setting -> chimera bootloader (or maybe it's called chameleon inside the system setting menu', dont remember right now), changed resolution to 1366x768x32, checked the "GraphicsEnabler=No" as boot option That's all, right now didnt apply any extra kext or smbios or dsdt. Now, that's wht's not workig, hoping some one can give me some good tips! - NETWORK: nor Atheros AR9462 nor NetLink BCM57780 Gigabit Ethernet PCIe get detected. Simply no network interface. (En0 not present). Any suggestion here?? I think for the atheros there isnt much we can do, but i think should be possibile to make the ethernet work! - GRAPHICS: Intel HD3000 is recognized as "built in graphics", with only 64MB of memory and no specific Kext used for it. How can I use the intel HD3000 kext and graphicsenabler=yes without having the system tryng to use the nVidia card??? Maybe romoving nVidia Kext and placing back intel HD and Intel SNB??? - INPUT: Keyboard it's ok, touch pad works with basic function (no gesture at all). anyway if I go in system settings -> touchpad, there's no device listed Anyone can suggest some fix for those problems? Should I fix my dsdt (if yes.... HOW??), should I use a smbios different from the stok one inside iAtkos (MacPro3,1)??? Hope this post will be usefull to anyone with this hardware configuration, and hope some good soul will help me fix these issues! Thank you in advance! PES

Step 1: Create the USB Installer (taken mostly from Vanilla Install guide) In a previous MacOSX install, use DiskUtility to Partition a USB disk with 1 HFS+ Partition, make sure GUID partion map is selected in the options. Mount your Mavericks dmg image Go to the mounted image, right click on "Mavericks.app" and choose "Show Contents" Go to "Contents/Shared Support" and mount InstallESD.dmg Mount BaseSystem.dmg by typing the following in terminal: open /Volumes/OS\ X\ Install\ ESD/BaseSystem.dmg In DiskUtility, go to the "OS X Base System", Restore it to your USB disk. Navigate to /System/Installation on your USB drive. Delete the “Packages” link, then copy the Packages folder from “OS X Install ESD” to this location. Copy the following kext's to /System/Library/Extensions on your USB stick. FakeSMC.kext and NullCPUPowerManagement.kext files from the Vanilla Guide The patched AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext from Mieze (optional, untested) You can try copying the Elan Touchpad drivers as well, read Step 5 "Touchpad and Keyboard" section below and delete approriate kexts, this could save you from needing a USB keyboard/mouse during installation Install Clover to the usb drive, customize the install with the following options: Install for UEFI booting only Themes->Choose one (BootCamp is nice) Drivers64UEFI->OsxAptioFixDrv-64 Copy the mach_kernel file from RehabMan to the root of the USB drive Cut out all Bluetooth kexts to prevent hanging on bootscreen System/Library/Extensions/... 1. AppleBluetoothMultitouch.kext 2. IOBluetoothFamily.kext 3. IOBluetoothHIDDriver.kext Use Clover Configurator to edit the config file in EFI-Partition 1. Open DiskUtility, click on the usb-stick, click on information or press cmd+i 2. Look for the volume number (e.g. disk1) 3. open clover configurator 4. clover asks to select the efi partition 5. select the efi partition an mount it 6. clover opens the editor 7. ACPI > FixDisplay uncheck 8. Graphics > ig-platform-id 0xa260006 9. Graphics > Inject EDID 10. Graphics > VRAM 1024 Step 2: My BIOS Settings: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/pnopddabcj092jo/Alui1TXoAa Step 3: Installing OS X Boot into the installer, you should be able to select the boot order in your bios to boot from the USB key. Now boot into the installer (return to the menu with all the OS icons and select the USB key. It'll read "Mac OS X from OS X Base System“ or something) If you did not install the Elan kexts, you will have to use a USB keyboard and mouse for the install. Install OS X (use a HFS+ partition on a drive partitioned with a GUID partition map, „Macintosh“ is a good name for the partition) Boot back into the installer like you just did early Select "Utilities" from the top and then Terminal You need to copy all those kext's you installed on the USB drive to your new installation partition. Type in the following lines, replacing „Macintosh“ with the actual name of the partition you installed to (hint: after entering the first one, press the up arrow to save yourself some typing): cp –R /System/Library/Extensions/NullCPUPowerManagement.kext /Volumes/Macintosh/System/Library/Extensions/ cp –R /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext /Volumes/Macintosh/System/Library/Extensions/ cp –R /System/Library/Extensions/FakeSMC.kext /Volumes/Macintosh/System/Library/Extensions/ Likewise, copy the patched mach_kernel from your USB drive to the install, replacing the original cp –R /mach_kernel /Volumes/Macintosh/ Optional: cp –R /System/Library/Extensions/ApplePS2ElanTouchpad.kext /Volumes/Macintosh/System/^/Extensions/ cp –R /System/Library/Extensions/ApplePS2Controller.kext /Volumes/Macintosh/System/Library/Extensions/ Now type "reboot" and hit enter Step 3: Intial Reboot Reboot again into the installer, boot from the hard-drive, not the USB drive As MacOSX 10.9.x pops up, do a little dance of joy. Install Clover onto your hard-drive, choosing the same options as before and install clover preference pane. Install Clover Configurator and run it. Do the following: Go to File->Open on the top bar and choose /EFI/Clover/config.plist (this is your current Clover configuration) ACPI > FixDisplay uncheck Graphics > ig-platform-id 0xa260006 Graphics > Inject EDID Graphics > VRAM 1024 Step 4: Bluetooth Reinstall all Bluetooth Kext with Kext Wizard. to System/Library/Extensions/... 1. AppleBluetoothMultitouch.kext 2. IOBluetoothFamily.kext 3. IOBluetoothHIDDriver.kext Step 5: Touchpad and Keyboard Use the files from my Folder or download it from: EMlyDinEsH's Elan drivers (i use Elan version 1.8.2 beta at time of writing): http://forum.osxlati...river-mac-os-x/ I have configurate my favorite actions on the touchpad. (use my configured kexts) In finder, go to /System/Library/Extensions and delete the following if you can find them: ApplePS2Controller, VoodooPS2Controller, AppleACPIPS2Nub, ApplePS2Keyboard and anything that says Elan Touchpad. Using Kext Wizard, install ApplePS2Controller and ApplePS2ElanTouchpad kexts Keyboard lighning works natively (on XMG Fn++ or Fn+- on NumBlock) Reboot and enjoy. Step 6: Audio/Sound Use the files from my Folder or download it from: http://www.osx86.net/files/file/1194-voodoohda-2-8-4-pkg-installer/ Install 2.8.4 Lion. I got it only run with voodoohda and applehda.kext (I have no Error free dsdt) Only thing is you must select a channel you want to use. Step 7: Wlan https://github.com/toleda/airport_pcie-hm/tree/master/airport_kext_enabler I replace the internal Wlan Module with the Broadcom BCM43225HMB The only thing is to install with KextWizard the toledaARPT.kext Were to buy: http://www.ebay.de/itm/Broadcom-BCM43225HMB-half-size-mini-PCI-E-Wlan-Karte-300mbps-Bluetooth-3-0-/360753189974? Step 8: Ethernet http://www.tonymacx86.com/network/120084-working-kext-killer-e2200.html Install with KextWizard the ALXEthernet.kext or ALXEthernet.kext in Debug Folder. Step 9: Brightness Use the files from my Folder or download it from: https://github.com/RehabMan/OS-X-blinkscreen For help use REDME and or look at github/RehabMan Copy org.rehabman.blinkscreen.plist to /Library/LaunchAgents Copy blink screen to /usr/bin Step 10: iCloud I get it worked with SMBIOS as MacBookAir6,2 iMessage dosn’t work yet… Many thanks to linuxgirl (I was so naughty and used your guide as draft )
  10. Hi all I got an ASUS U41SV with a discrete NVIDIA graphics card, and I have reached a solution to disable it in OS X. Spec of the laptop CPU: Intel Core i5-2410M 2.3 GHz Memory: 8GB DDR3 1333 MHz Chipset: Intel HM65 Graphics: Intel HD3000 + NVIDIA GeForce GT540M Display: 14" 1366 x 768 Audio codec: Realtek ALC269 WiFi: Atheros 9285 OS X Configuration Niresh's distro of Yosemite A whole SSD reserved for OS X Chameleon bootloader SMBIOS: MacBookPro8,1 (13-inch, Early 2011) Updated to 10.10.1 via App Store Disabling Optimus The guide here does not fit this laptop, but after some modifications, it works on U41SV. I first extracted DSDT under Windows with AIDA64 Back to OS X, I used MaciASL to edit the DSDT extracted from Windows At the begging of the file, I added the following line: // ... DefinitionBlock ("iASLnv4Cgf.aml", "DSDT", 1, "_ASUS_", "Notebook", 0x00000000) { // the line below was added External (\_SB_.PCI0.PEG0.GFX0.SGOF, MethodObj) // ... Then I added the following method before Method (_WAK, 1, Serialized) // ... Method (M_OF, 0, NotSerialized) { If (CondRefOf (\_SB.PCI0.PEG0.GFX0._OFF)) { \_SB.PCI0.PEG0.GFX0._OFF () } If (CondRefOf (\_SB.PCI0.PEG0.GFX0._PS3)) { \_SB.PCI0.PEG0.GFX0._PS3 () } If (CondRefOf (\_SB.PCI0.PEG0.GFX0.SGOF)) { \_SB.PCI0.PEG0.GFX0.SGOF () } } // ... Then called the method M_OF in the method _WAK // ... Method (_WAK, 1, Serialized) { M_OF () // calling M_OF () WAK (Arg0) Return (Package (0x02) { Zero, Zero }) } // ... And called the method M_OF again in the method _INI // ... Scope (_SB.PCI0) { Method (_INI, 0, NotSerialized) { Store (0x07D0, OSYS) M_OF () // calling M_OF () If (CondRefOf (\_OSI, Local0)) { If (_OSI ("Linux")) { Store (0x03E8, OSYS) } // ... Finally clicked compile in MaciASL, and saved the DSDT as /Extra/DSDT.aml And now NVIDIA Optimus is disabled. Edit: HDMI output working, VGA untested, able to adjust brightness of built-in display And here is my edited DSDT. ASUS-U41SV-DSDT.aml.zip Credits Thanks to Whit3Spirit for the guide here
