  1. ********************************************************************************** In this thread, I have fully documented the installation of macOS Catalina on my HP EliteDesk 800 G4 Mini. It is a PERFECT HackMini8,1 and is running very well for me without any issues. I hope this documentation helps you to install macOS on your hack. Please leave feedback if you think there is anything I can improve and let me know if you have any questions. ********************************************************************************** Background This is my first "modern" hack supporting UEFI and my first hack using Clover "on-the-fly" patches. My previous hacks Laptop: Thinkpad T61 / Nvidia NVS 140m Laptop: Dell Latitude E6410 / Nvidia G3100m Desktop: Gigabyte G31 / GeForce 9600 Desktop: Biostar TH55HD / Sapphire Pulse RX580 (Google "Catalina Biostar TH55HD" and look for user name deeveedee) are all perfectly running Catalina and I patched them all "manually" - all DSDT patches applied with MaciSL with virtually no Clover on-the-fly patching and all booted Legacy Clover. This UEFI hack was MUCH easier and took about 20 hours vs. a combined hundreds of hours for the old hacks. I wanted a hack that was a little more future proof and I think this is it. I hope you enjoy this as much as I am enjoying it. It is a perfect MacMini8,1. 2. Hi there I recently got an old macmini1,1 from a friend and installed an Intel Core 2 Duo T7600 with 2,33GHz into it. It also has 2GB of RAM. I currently run OS X 10.5 and since you can't really do anything with this outdated OS I'd like to have any version AT LEAST >=10.6. My Question now is: Is there any possibility and if so, how? Regards
  3. I have a late 2012 Mac Mini i5 Dual Core which came with 4GB RAM, been using it since December '13. I decided to Upgrade the RAM (Memory) to 8GB and bought 'Two Corsair Value Select 1600 MHz' 4GB RAM sticks and upgraded it to 8GB about a week and half back. Currently Running Mavericks 10.9.3 Since then I have experienced that the Mac during some youtube videos, hangout video calls (Chrome Browser) etc crashes and I get the 'Grey Screen asking me to press any button to Restart screen'. It happens atleast once daily sometimes twice. today it happened a lot. I've checked the 'About Mac' memory tab says 8GB with both sticks working fine. Even ran a Apple Hardware Test this morning and got a clean result. Can anyone help me with this? thanks
  4. Hey guys! From what I've seen, I posted on the wrong forum. Now I think it's on the right one. So, here I was searching around the forum trying to find a "copy" of a mac mini (not the one that got out today, the last one) and didn't really find it. The idea is to build a pc hackintosh that would go cheaper than a mac mini with kind of the same power. Interesting power to run Adobe software like Photoshop (of course that i'm not talking about working with 50gb images). No games, just creative and data process work. What would I need to build such a thing? What about buying a working Powermac G5, selling the insides and buy new pc stuff to do a hackintosh?

  9. I was wondering if anyone ran into this problem. Ive been trying to install 10.6 retail on my Hp Mini 110-1131DX. Obviously based on forum posts i've read WIFI isnt going to work without another card, thats fine. However, even the ethernet isnt working and I've seen reports of it working with the HP Mini110. AtherosL1cEthernet kext seemed the best route, however it still is not working. Then again, i am running it off my Macbook Pro Internet sharing since I do not currently have fast internet. Therefore i was wondering if there was a fix for this at 10.6 retail without combo updating, or will this sort it out when I apply the combo update, or will this work once I get proper internet and networking set up. i also read it worked just fine on OSX Leopard 10.5.8 However ive been having difficulties getting that installed (attempting to take this at two angles) Keeps hanging up at MAC Framework successfully initiated Using 10485 buffer headers and 4096 cluster IO buffer headers. Not sure what the issue is here, using iDeneb v1.6 Lite. Which there are no tutorials on. However with proper kexts this shouldnt be a problem. ACPI fix on this one and cpu=1 fix as found in another forum however still the same results. Ill post some of the notes about this particular HP Mini which might help. Intel GMA 950 Ethernet Atheros AR8132 Fast Ethernet DevID:1062 VenID:1969 I have the Mac Address as well which I have heard i may need to patch the UUID however i have not gotten that far, was going to try that with OSX Leopard iDeneb install Broadcom Wifi BCM 4312 (Hell i have the notes why not post it) Audio - Intel Corp. (Side note, usb linking my iphone internet sharing to the HP Mini 110 is not working either) *edit found this here http://osxmini.wordpress.com/tag/hp-mini-sleep-fix Going to try to use an older kernel ill get back to you on that.

  11. My Dell Inspiron Mini 1012 is running on 10.6.6 and all the devices that were reported to work with this netbook do work...except Wi-Fi . I am at least able to see networks, but after I connect I get the Alert: No Internet Connection Message . I thought it might be just my connection so I tried to connect to another open connection without a wpa2 password (i heard those were iffy) and same thing . My router is giving off an N connection speed I'm sure (I have Fios Internet) . I have an Atheros AR9285 card . dev id 168c x 002b . I've been searching for solutions but I still cannot get this wifi card to be fully functional . I'll note that in system preferences it says Airport Self-Assigned IP and then the yellow ball right beside it. When I manually assign an IP it turns green but then the Airport doesn't seem to like the iP or doesn't accept changes and goes back to it's default IP.
  12. I've been trying to install OS X Snow Leopard on my HP Mini, running of of a 16 GB SDHC Class 10 card. I've tried every tutorial known to man and every possible combination between them. iAtkos install, mymacnetbook.com tutorial, the one on this site and none of them seem to work. Every time i get something installed it runs sluggish and sleep never works. Can anybody help me with installing this machine before my girlfriend decides to move out?
  13. Ahoy there! I am looking at building my first vanilla hackintosh to drive a 4K display over Displayport. Requirements for me are; speed, performance but not gaming. I do realize I included a -K CPU, but the base clock of that model is far larger than the non-K version. (4.2Ghz vs 3.6Ghz) CPU: Intel Core i7-7700K MOBO/Case/PSU: AsRock Deskmini 110 Memory: Crucial CT16G4SFD824A NVMe (PCI): Samsung 960 EVO 500GB Bluetooth/Wifi: to be determined Any thoughts? Thank you! Kexts I would certainly need: - FakeSMC ; to let it think I run genuine apple hardware - Fake CPUID ; to let it think I run Skylake instead of Kaby Lake - FakePCIID.kext and FakePCIID_Intel_HD_Graphics.kext ; to let it think I run Skylake graphics - 'Skylake Glitch Fix' (AAPL,GfxYTile) ; no clue why - VoodooHDA ; to let sound work (I think) AppleALC: native apple audio for non-apple hardware - IONVMeFamily.kext ; from macos, to let NVMe work at boot.
  14. So apple has presented a new and updated mac mini a few days ago, and the great news seems to be the use of desktop processors in it, in fact, all the specs seems to match a typical desktop socket 1151 v2 coffeelake system without a dedicated gpu, so i am wondering if the smbios of this machine could be our new smbios of preference for coffeelake desktop machines. So i have created this new topic to discuss about it. Of course we will have to wait to do tests using the first public version of mac os which integrates this smbios, because when every new mac is released it's smbios is available initialy just in a purpose made mac os build and then it's added for all the os builds in the following releases. So what do you think about the possibility of using this new smbios for desktop coffeelake machines instead of the imac 18.3/18.2 ones? https://www.apple.com/mac-mini/specs/
  15. So is anyone planning on getting this to Hack it as its the perfect mix of intel and amd in the perfect size https://www.pcworld.com/article/3267074/computers/intel-hades-canyon-nuc-nuc8i7hvk-review.html
  16. Hi. I have around €1200 of extra money on the side and thought I'd get a real Apple desktop as soon as it'd happen to me. The thing is my MacBook Pro is doing fine and my Hackintosh too. Plus my hackintosh has the plus sides of having a Blu-ray burner and a decent graphics card. The thing is, it's now 3 years old, and that was the age of my other computers when they "died". Plus, a SATA port fell off the motherboard last week. I was thinking of getting an i7 Mac mini as well as an OWC Data Doubler and a 256 GB Samsung 840 or Crucial M4 SSD to setup a DIY Fusion Drive (Apple's option here in France only gives you a 128 GB SSD for almost the price of a 512 GB one). The things that appeal me so much are the i7 processor and the USB 3 ports Am I crazy, just a geek or fanboy? Should I get one or put the money on the side and get a new hack once it dies? Thanks for your advice.

  18. Hey everyone! Well... After I bought some Apples and exploded my old android, I wanted to make something new in my working/home place. First time i was installing Mac OSX themes for Windows. I thought it is so hard to install Mac OSX, and when i made some kind of "plan", I backed up my data, downloaded OSX, formatted disk, and tried to start the installation. I had errors like "still waitting for root device", and pci errors, just because I had old hardware. Then, in one great day, my motherboard and power supply burnt out ( It wasn't my fault, there are were energy issues in @ my district ). Then i just thought to build Custom Mac.. just for "test". I am thinking to buy 'real' Mac soon. So i bought the following components: And Mountain Lion installed without any errors! Great, I made that I wanted! Now, you can see how I was building it. Connected every component and restored Mac OSX 10.8.4 from my Time Capsule.. Tada! I don't want to change information in 'About this Mac' for now. Well, my pc case has finally arrived! So, i took it out from box, looks awesome. ( I already attached PSU ). Let's place mobo and another components inside! That's how it looks with 'mirror' effect I want to replace those USB2.0s to 3.0 ones, also, front audio works. That's how hard drives and PSU are installed in. I am using HDMI cable, my display has better collibration support for it. BUT ONE THING THAT I DIDN'T KNEW - It has L.E.Ds inside. So, i dis-attached some thingies, and made it branded! ;D I purchased some Apple stickers at eBay, but I can't wait, so lol. Now it looks superb. Another pictures: That's how cd-drive placed, haha. This is some my stuff, as disk using, wifi, etc Hosting second home WiFi network because i can't make this card work with internet ;( As you can see, it's fine. Well, i finally made my wifi to see networks. Added 168c,0301. But if it connects it's freezes ;( Current case is MidTower ATX. It is very small and compactible. More like Micro ATX. Currently, Geekbench shows 7600 points when I'm using 10.9 & 8100 points when I am using 10.8.4. I think the slow part are my HDDs. ( Note, not Solid state drives ). I am going to upgrade my specifications soon. I will post every progress there. I am going to make some kind of 'tuning' for my CustoMac. TODO list: * working wifi internet * wait for apple & "blue eyed" stickers and buy mirrored acrylic sheet to make it look more awesome! * replace usb2.0 by usb3.0 * make it more quiet * (optional) buy ssds * (optional) buy more ram memory Thanks for watching! Leave comments please! ;p
