  1. Those who use Mojave with an OpenGL (non-Metal) Video Card in "dark mode" have noticed that global transparencies are working fine, while in "light mode" encountered the "grey" Finder menu bar and sidebars issues, this patch is intended for those who want to use Mojave mainly in "light mode" saving some transparencies around, so here is my "hybrid reduce transparency" patch. It is totally safe, harmless and reversible, it has been deeply tested and will 100% work until restart or logout, even after sleep lock screen it will still work. To return with normal "transparency" you can also do that from Accessibility prefpane disabling the "reduce transparency" checkbox. To use this patch just double click on this attached shell "mojavehld.command" and it will launch through Terminal. [METHOD 1: Enable hybrid transparency] After launch the mojavehld.command just follow these steps: type 1 type 4 close Terminal (CMD+Q) and any other app previously opened. (The choice number 3 is not mandatory) [METHOD 2: Force hybrid transparency] If for some reason after that you will still get Dock and Notification Center without "transparencies" then relaunch the mojavehld.command: type 2 type 1 type 4 close Terminal (CMD+Q) and any other app previously opened. 2. I had a working Mojave installation on my HP Z400 with clover and from a VMware image. (Because i had a Nvidia 8800GT with no Metal support.) I found a cheap AMD RX 570 card on the local market. So i did a reinstall with a clean Mojave version from de App Store. Before the new card everything worked fijne exept the video card. (My Englisch is not great sorry!) 3. Hey all, I just recently upgraded from Yosemite to El Capitan using the Clover direct upgrade method--it went down mostly without a hitch. On Yosemite, the thing ran beautifully, and never gave me a bit of trouble. However, since upgrading, my graphics are choppy and slow. You almost can't tell at first, until you start multi-tasking. A pretty low-specced MacBookPro absolutely trounces it, GUI graphical effects stay smooth, mission control etc... transition fine even with multiple windows open, hooked into the same external monitors. DVD, QuickTime, and (non-flash) Safari videos have a noticeably reduced framerate. Games have erratic frame dropping and skipping. Build is: Asus P8Z77-V LX Core i5-3550 2X AMD 2GB AMD HD6870 (I have two identical GPUs) Here's the output of ioreg (grep AMD) | | | | +-o AMD6000Controller <class AMD6000Controller, id 0x1000003bb, 4. Hey-ho hackintosh scene! There is a need for us to test a lot of Mac configurations of a really stressful GPU-based app. The app contains cool GFX, tons of metrics, it can crash your GPU, CPU, Mac, etc. Of course if drivers are fine then nothing like this will happen. If not.. then we really want to help Apple fix those drivers by giving them feedback using special channel that's open to us for some time. And we need you guys to help us. So - the app is called FractalArchitect and you can download it for free from MacAppStore. Also if you want to test CUDA be sure to mail support@fractalarchitect.net for your special exectuable. The test cases are pretty easy. Download app. Start it. Click 'Free GPU trial', and try OpenCL/Metal/CUDA rendering with 4 sample fractals. If everything is fine you can capture your performance metrics (when you render fractal second time, as first time it also counts compile time). if not - please leave bug-report in this topic. For people with iGPU/descrete - do tests of both GPUs. Any cool cases (eGPU) are welcome. Let the tests begin. P.S. You can share any super cool fractals you created here as well. P.P.S. Just to clarify. This is _not_ my application. I just serve as a proxy that will channel the bug-reports to the right people inside Apple. The author of the app will keep an eye on this post as well but in _no_ way this is an advertising. The app is a Rosetta stone for compute testing. And that's it. P.P.P.S Do not search bugs inside app. You guys are _not_ beta testers of it. You test your GFX/Compute drivers.
  5. Hi community ! Is anybody successful with 10.13.x and multiple GPUs on a desktop hack ? My main rig (see in signature) HD4600 + GTX550Ti + GTX560 is working perfectly under 10.11.6 and 10.12.6. Very simple to install, Intel IGPU set to active and primary in bios, inject intel and igplatformid in bootloader (enoch or clover), no nividia injection, since Fermi GPUs are natively supported. Smbios set to iMac14.2 for my Haswell CPU, and to avoid AppleGraphicsDeviceControl devices unloading. But from 10.13.0 to 10.13.3, system boots fine until login screen where WindowServer crashes with a "no MTLDevice" error (MeTaL device I guess). I could workaround that error by unloading nvidia devices in AppleGraphicsDeviceControl, but that kind of defeats the purpose, since only the IntelHD4600 can then be used. 10.13.4 brings a little improvement, desktop can be reached, all 3 gpus active (AppleDisplay instances appear in IORegistryExplorer for Intel and Nvidias) but only Intel HDMI output shows desktop correctly, both nvidias (HDMI or DVI output) only show a black desktop where the mouse pointer can be moved normally. Displays can be arranged, orientation and resolution can be changed, as if everything was fine, but it is not. Console shows the following repeated messages : WindowServer (Skylight) : Unable to composite display surface due to null compositor. WindowServer (CoreDisplay) : [ERROR] - Attempting to get capabilities from capabilities with no devices Does anybody have an idea on how to avoid or workaround these errors ? Thanks ! O. Things I've tried: Bios Graphic Devices order changes (breaks everything unless IGPU is primary) nvidia injection in bootloader (fails in enoch, disables secondary nvidia GPU outputs in clover) Smbios changes and/or AppleDeviceControlPolicy plist edits (simply enables or disables nvidia outputs) nvidia official or web drivers (no changes at all, even though webdrivers are properly loaded ; requires nvram emulation with enoch) enoch or clover (no difference except clover boots a bit faster - than enoch with nvram - thanks to proper UEFI boot I guess) lilu intel and/or nvidia and/or coredisplay graphicsfixups (no visible changes but graphics devices names, and thus enables or disables AGPM) use binaries from Sierra 10.12.6 for CoreDisplay and/or Skylight frameworks (never reached desktop) NVIDIAeGPUSupport (no changes)
  6. If this has been posted elsewhere I apologize. I looked to no avail. So a couple of news postings referencing a certain job listing for a position specifically for Mac Metal and OpenCL development, et al. at NVIDIA have many hopeful. For us, GTX1080 drivers would be quite lovely.
