Spinning beachball instead of login R9 390x

Hey forum geniuses, I'm having trouble getting my new installation of Yosemite to run correctly. First, some specs for you: MOBO: Gigabyte 970A-D3 FD CPU: AMD FX 6300 GPU: MSI R9 390x HDD: Sandisk 128GB SSD YosemiteZone 10.10.1 Distro The issue that I'm having is that after I installed Yosemite, which only required bootflags /amd64 and npci=0x3000, I'm unable to get to the login screen. The computer boots up fine, so there are no reported errors when using verbose boot. However, after the boot screen passes and I should get to the login screen, I get to a gray screen where the cursor becomes the beach-ball of death. Booting with -x allows login, but lacks any sort of graphics acceleration, so it takes a while to be able to do so. While I am not exactly sure as to what the cause is, I'm guessing it is related to my new R9 390x, as I had a previously functioning Yosemite build back when I had a GTX 760 and never encountered this issue with all other parts being the same. Perhaps it's as simple as loading the proper drivers, but I'm not familiar with what is required for an AMD graphics card. Any helpful advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  3. Hey guys, Every time since I installed the HD 4400 kext to my Hackintosh, I get pixelation occurring just before the login screen comes up. Does any body know what this is? If so, what is it? Why does it do it? and How can I prevent it from happening? (Photo attachments included.) Kind Regards, Moosehead1

  5. Firs let me tell you how i appreciate this forum for all the help i got reading various post during my first USB boot and install, and how i probably wouldn't be here in your company without this topic http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/293168-guide-how-to-make-a-bootable-os-x-109-mavericks-usb-install-drive-on-linux/ Since i didn't have working Mac on my disposal and i didn't want do download any pre-made distros. intro: So I've managed to boot and get to work ML 10.8.2 about week ago, App Store included. Only my graphics made problems: -integrated Q35 isn't supported and i had 64mb graphics displayed on "about this Mac" with no acceleration -with my Gigabyte nVidia GT220 it either shut down my monitor at boot or displayed 3mb or 5mb graphics on "about my Mac" when it was working (also without any acceleration - i had to wait for minutes to react if accidentally clicked on Launchpad or Mission Control) - NVEnabler didn't do the trick on this installation although it worked flawlessly in my 10.8.0 installation few days earlier, on same machine. I've tried making custom EFI string, removing NVEnabler and installing nVidia Web Driver but that didn't help either, so i left GFX string in my boot.plist and went for update to 10.8.5 from App Store. After update and reboot nVidia worked great (web driver and efi string, nvenabler removed) and is fully recognized by osx. problem: But now i can't make App Store to work. Before it was just matter of downloading OSxTools and EFIstudio, making Network string and IOBuiltin was showing "true",no problem. After this update it won't work whatever i try. Tried string, changing serial no, deleting everything and rebooting, changing place of string in boot.plist (it won't boot if Ethernet string is after GFX string), updating Chameleon… Nothing helps. If you have any ideas please tell. I'm ok since everything i need works (Audio interface, sleep and wake, graphics, ethernet) but it would be great if i could get App Store (and later iCloud and Messages) to work too. My PC is Dell Optiplex 755 Core2Duo E4400 nVidia GT 220 0GM819 motherboard 82801 PCI And my org.chameleon.Boot.plist <key>EthernetBuiltIn</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>GenerateCStates</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>GeneratePStates</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>Graphics Mode</key> <string>1280x1024x32</string> <key>GraphicsEnabler</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>Kernel</key> <string>mach_kernel</string> <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string>darkwake=0 nvda_drv=1</string> <key>Legacy Logo</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>Timeout</key> <string>2</string> <key>UseKernelCache</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>UseNvidiaROM</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>VBIOS</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>device-properties</key> <string>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</string> </dict> </plist> Thanks in advance, Ljuba!
  6. I have successfully installed Mavericks DP1 on my Z87-HD3 based system. I then upgraded all the way to DP4 (first DP2, DP3 then DP4) and up till DP3 everything worked fine. After installing DP4, I restarted the system and now cannot login anymore. The login screen appears but my username is gone. All I'm left with is the "Other..." option. Manually inputing my previous username and password does not work either. I have tried to boot from my install usb stick and reset the password from there and weirdly, my username appears correctly in the resetpassword program. Does anybody have an idea how to correct this problem? I'd really rather not have to re-install the system.
  7. I'm currently running a vanilla 10.9.3 build with Clover bootloader on a Sony Vaio Laptop SVE1712bcxb with the following specs: Core i5 3210M Radeon 7650M 256GB OCZ SSD 6GB RAM Full specs here: http://esupport.sony.com/US/p/model-home.pl?mdl=SVE1712BCXB&template_id=1&region_id=1&tab=manuals# I'm trying to isolate a problem where machine will occasionally reboot itself without warning within 5 minutes of bootup/login. Basically I can login to the machine, reach a desktop and start working as normal (launch browser, apps, etc) and then suddenly it will power cycle itself. It seems to occur more often if I execute a "Restart" from the Apple menu rather than doing a complete shutdown and then powering it back on. I do not think it's thermal or hardware related as the machine will run perfectly fine most of the time. In fact if the machine doesn't reboot within the first 5 minutes of login, it's rock solid even after putting to sleep/waking multiple times. The CPU temperatures are well within spec according to iStat Pro. The behavior will sometimes occur a few times consecutively and then stop with a "clean" boot. I check the console logs and nothing really stands out in terms of errors or failures leading up to these reboots. I see two messages that might be relevant: locationd was started after an unclean shutdown kernel[0]: Previous Shutdown Cause: 3 It appears that the shutdown code is always "3" regardless of if I do a restart or shutdown. It doesn't change even in the cases where the reboots occur. When the reboots occur, the machine goes straight to a black screen like it was power cycled -- no kernal panic message displayed on screen on in the logs. On my real Mac (Mac Pro 1,1), the shutdown cause is always 0 so I'm not certain if "3" is to be cause for concern. Any ideas on what might be causing this issue? Thx Josh
  8. I installed Lion again, using this guide: http://www.insanelym...howtopic=260594 I upgraded to 10.7.2 and everything is great. Yet I have a small, but annoying problem, a Finder window, which is actually the root of the Lion install partition I created opens every time I login to Lion (which is installed on a completely different hard drive). I tried many things like deleting com.apple.finder..., deleting the .ds file from the desktop and unchecking it from login items in system preferences, non of which worked. Anyone has and idea how can I make this Finder window stop appearing at login? I always uncheck the resume option when I shut down/restart. Thanks.
  9. Been having some trouble getting 10.11 to completely start up. @Shaneee has been working with me over here valiantly for the last several days, but we've really hit a roadblock. He suggested that some folks here, particularly @Spakk, might chime in and know what's going on. Essentially we've gotten to the point where the system starts and we're at the login screen, but then it goes black and is hung. `sshd` is non-responsive and the system will not respond whatsoever. Here is a video to further illustrate. We've tried various kernels that @Shaneee's provided that he thought would work out, but no luck. The issues started out primarily as an Nvidia issue, but after it's bios was flashed and so forth, we've been able to get it to the point noted there. I'd be happy to provide any details you'd like as I know that the other thread is quite populated at the moment by our efforts and might be hard to sift through.
  10. Hi folks! I run El Capitan on VB by guide on this forum. Everything works great, but I'd like to do 2 more modifications and I'll be very thankful if you helped me... 1. Adding serials to SMBIOS The main reason I run virtualisation of OSX is that I want to code apps with Xcode - Xcode wants you tu sign in with your Apple ID to sign apps. I've read that in virtualisation, there are no serials/information in SMBIOS, so "Apple" device can't be verified, which outcome is you to unable to login. I found something about Clover and Clover Configurator. I even tried that, but there were just many errors and problem wasn't solved. Can someone give me step-by-step instructions how to do this? 2. Custom screen resolution I think this'll be simpler than 1. but I couldn't find any exact guide. I managed to change resolution by VBoxManage setextradata "El Capitan" VBoxInternal2/EfiGopMode N, but I'd like to have 16:9 res (1920x1080). Is there any way to do it?
  11. As the title says, I cannot log into my app store account. The error says: "Your device or computer could not be verified. Contact support for assistance." My specs is: mobo: asrock fatal1ty killer z87 cpu: intel 4770k gpu: gigabyte gtx770 windforce I'm using Oz bootloader. Any ideas why this doesn't work?
  12. My installation works but after a couple of reboots, it will display a spinning beach ball AFTER logging in. Note that it's able to boot up right up to the login screen. But the system will just hang with a spinning beach ball after typing the password. Anyone else encounter such a problem?
