  2. ****************************************************************************************************************************** IF YOU WANT A RAW COPY (THAT INCLUDES ACTUAL FORMATTING) OF THIS UNFINISHED GUIDE, ASK ME THROUGH PRIVATE MESSAGE, THEN MODIFY IT AND SEND IT BACK TO ME THROUGH PRIVATE MESSAGE, IT'LL BE A PLEASURE TO UPDATE IT, BUT I'M NOT ACTIVE HERE ANYMORE -- ALSO, IF YOU KNOW HOW TO HAVE THIS THREAD'S OWNERSHIP CHANGED AND WANT TO OWN IT, LET ME KNOW HOW TO PROCEED AS I DO NOT WISH TO KEEP IT FOR ME, THANKS! ****************************************************************************************************************************** Hi, I'm starting this new topic in the hope to, progessively, create a guide for a vanilla (as much as possible) OS X Installation on Z400/Z600/Z800 Workstations. I invite you to participate in the comments so that this topic becomes an easy-to-follow guide. The idea of doing this emerged from information exchanged with other members (proteinshake, MacPeet, zhangtemplar, MacUser2525, nitelava & apav) in topic titled "Fix my HP! Just a few random DSDT-edits to improve your HacMac experience." originally created by proteinshake. Main goals of this guide Explain manual procedures; Avoid "magical" utilities, but don't ignore them (they can sometimes be time/life savers); Make you become independent & aware of the inner mechanics of creating a functional Hackintosh, so that you can repeat & adapt those procedures for future hackintosh projects. *** AS THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS TOPIC, I WILL NEED SOME HELP TO GATHER ACCURATE INFORMATION *** HELP NEEDED, PLEASE READ THIS SECTION, THANKS! As I only own a Z400 Workstation, I'd need you (those who own Z600 and Z800 Workstations) to send me your lspci output. To do so, you have 2 options: Boot with a Linux LiveCD (see the Tools/Utilities/kexts or other useful links section at the bottom of this post); If you already have an OSX version installed, you'll need to install lspci (see the Tools/Utilities/kexts or other useful links section at the bottom of this post). Type the following command : lspci -nnvv >~/Desktop/lspci-nnvv_output.txt If you are using Linux, please also type this command (before creating the following, make sure you updated your BIOS to v03.57) : sudo cat /sys/firmware/acpi/tables/DSDT >~/Desktop/DSDT.aml OR: sudo cat /proc/acpi/dsdt >~/Desktop/DSDT.aml (whichever works for you) Copy those files to a USB flash drive, send them to yourself by email or whatever other method you want. Then, reply to this topic mentionning which workstation you have, and attach the file(s) created above. ALSO, if you got Clover to boot your Z400 / Z600 / Z800 Worktation, PLEASE send us your config.plist so that we can have a starting point. I'm trying to switch from Chameleon to Clover, but I'm still unable to fix a Kernel Panic I have; I will report it with a screenshot soon in the comments, maybe some of you might know why I get it. Requirements Another Mac or Hackintosh machine; 8GB+ USB flash drive; BIOS updated to latest version (v03.57, 2013-09-20 release, found HERE); This is mandatory for 2 reasons : patched DSDT files included in this guide will not work (properly) if you use a different BIOS version; that latest BIOS version fixes possible erratic behaviours with Xeon 3600 & 5600 CPU series. Z400/Z600/Z800 specific files (see Z400/Z600/Z800 specific information sections further below). BIOS setup instructions (eventually, there will be screenshots) You must set your hard drive controller to AHCI+RAID mode, else you won't be able to use your SATA devices. ... Generic instructions (for all downloads/credits, see Tools/Utilities/kexts or other useful links & All attached files sections at the bottom of this post) Get a copy of Yosemite Installer from the AppStore; Create a Yosemite boot DVD or USB (USB recommended); Partition & format the USB Flash Drive : Put your USB Flash Drive in a USB port; Open Disk Utility; Select your USB Flash Drive disk in the left pane; Click on the "Partition" tab in the right pane; Change "Partition Scheme" to 1; Click on "Options" at the bottom; Make sur you select GUID (first one) and click on OK; Give it a name, let's say Yosemite-Installer for the sake of this guide; Change "Format" to "Extended Mac OS (journaled)" (AFTER THIS STEP, YOU'LL ERASE YOUR USB Flash Drive, so make a backup first if you have important data on it!); Click on "Apply"; Create a USB Flash Drive with Yosemite Installer on it; Open Terminal; Copy/Paste the following command (make sure to verify the path names as they might differ slightly on your setup) - it will ask for your user password to elevate the command at root permission level : sudo /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Yosemite.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/YosemiteInstaller --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Yosemite.app --nointeraction Wait until it's completed (takes about 20 minutes, depending on your setup and USB speed); Into your volume's /System/Library/Extensions folder, copy the following kernel extensions (kext) : AHCIPortInjector_v1.0.0_Micky1979.kext.zip & IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector_v1.0.0_Micky1979.kext.zip - Those extensions make OS X detect your SATA controller. You'll get the "Waiting for root device..." message if you don't install those. (Couldn't yet find official page nor original thread for those, please let me know if you found it - credits seem to go to Micky1979); FakeSMC_v6.16.1372_netkas.kext.zip - emulates Apple's SMC chip found on Apple motherboards; NullCPUPowerManagement_v1.0.0d2_tgwbd.kext.zip - prevents kernel panic of genuine Apple Power Management; (optional for the install disk, this is to get sound working) VoodooHDA_v2.87.kext.zip (autumnrain, slice2009) - The file attached here is version 2.87 with a tweaked Info.plist to fix noise & volume issues for our workstations. According to my tests, HDADisabler kext is not needed (probably because original unpatched AppleHDA won't detect our Realtek ALC262 chipset). Now, let's rebuild that target volume's kernel cache with the following command : kextcache -f -update-volume /Volumes/YosemiteInstall Create the Extra folder on your Yosemite's install disk : mkdir -p /Volumes/YosemiteInstaller/Extra Install a bootloader Chameleon ... His new method, named the "hotpatch" method is far superior to our old ones and should rightfully take its place. Following is a direct link to his detailed and extensive guide to assist both current and future users with their adventures in OS X. Should you find success using his method, please remember to say THANKS for his work and to possibly add to his growing repository to hopefully assist future users in their own success stories. 10. I'm using a HP AIO trying to boot Mojave. Both matter what distro I use, it never boots past a small portion on the line and in verbose it fails at "thread 0 crash". I've tried using "LogEveryBoot" and the debug flags but it will not save any logs for me to look over since verbose goes way to quick to read, even while recording. I've set all bios to the needed settings. Can someone help me get the logs so I can post and hopefully receive some help? Current setup: HP C0063W Intel Celeron G4900T Intel UHD 610 4GB Ram

    OS X on HP DC7700

Sharing my experience with OS X on HP DC7700 Firstly, remember you should replace the integrated Intel card with another one via PCIe. Now download my package. What it contains? Kexts AppleACPIPS2Nub.kext - PS/2 Kext ApplePS2Controller.kext - PS/2 Kext fakesmc.kext - FakeSMC kext (which emulates SMC device) edited to works better on Core 2 Processors Intel82566MM.kext - Intel 825xx Ethernet Kext Other files org.chameleon.Boot.plist - SMBios.plist - Use it at installation only. After that you can use what you want SSDT.aml - SSDT which generates C & P States successfully DSDT.aml - DSDT fixed and patched by me Patch list: DTGP HDEF (experimental) EHCI (don't need to delete AppleHPET.kext) ICH8 LPC (to fix some errors with AppleLPC) IRQs (to fix restart) SHUTDOWN (to fix shutdown) SATA (don't need to change device id in AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext) SMBUS (recognized as ICH10 to fix errors with AppleSMBusPCI) RTC (to fix errors with AppleRTC) PBTN: _HID changed to _CID to get sleep working by pressing the power button Some cosmetic patches Known issues/problems: Integrated card does not work I haven't tried AppleHDA SATA is a bit buggy because the motherboard doesn't support AHCI mode. For example, you cannot eject the Disc Reader by clicking on the icon (on the menubar) Sleep doesn't tried. (i have integrated card only, sorry) Pre-Installation / Installation Create the USB with OS X 10.7/10.8 installer. Copy DSDT.aml, SSDT.aml, org.chameleon.Boot.plist and SMBios.plist to USB/Extra. Install fakesmc.kext in the USB Drive. If you have PS/2 Mouse/Keyboard, install also AppleACPIPS2Nub.kext and ApplePS2Controller.kext. Turn on the PC, and boot into the usb. Press 'Enter' to your USB Drive. Install OS X on your drive. SemiPost-Installation Return to the OS X USB installer and click Utility -> Terminal. Now, execute this commands: cp -R /Volumes/(USB)/Extra /Volumes/(Mac OS X Drive)/Extra cp -R /Volumes/(USB)/System/Library/Extensions/fakesmc.kext /Volumes/(USB)/Extra /Volumes/(Mac OS X Drive)/System/Library/Extensions/fakesmc.kext - OPTIONAL for PS/2 USERS - cp -R /Volumes/(USB)/System/Library/Extensions/AppleACPIPS2Nub.kext /Volumes/(USB)/Extra /Volumes/(Mac OS X Drive)/System/Library/Extensions/AppleACPIPS2Nub.kext cp -R /Volumes/(USB)/System/Library/Extensions/ApplePS2Controller.kext /Volumes/(USB)/Extra /Volumes/(Mac OS X Drive)/System/Library/Extensions/ApplePS2Controller.kext Post-Installation Reboot with the USB Drive, but now press 'Enter' to your installed drive. Now install Intel82566MM.kext to your drive to get Ethernet card working. AUDIO: This is the AppleHDA.kext patched for this PC. I tried this kext but i cannot get the sound card working. (I added the HDEF Device, don't worry about that). If you cannot use AppleHDA.kext, use instead VoodooHDA.kext (should work good). Reboot, and you should get all working. Note: i haven't this PC anymore, that was of a my friend. That was my experience about this pc.

    Boot/Shutdown problem

Hello everyone, This is two days I am facing a problem I can not solve . It makes me completely crazy, that's why I implore you for your help. I have a desktop computer that I use for hackintoshing since 2008, I went through all versions of OS X Leopard and since I never had any worries. After all installed (5 or 6 times) , I 've realized that when I turn off the pc I (  > shutdown ) , thereafter it is impossible to restart OS X. The screen remains frozen AFTER boot: init6 with an fixed " underscore ". The only thing is when I can do is to start on my hard drive where Vista is installed (I'll even display password ) and then restart on my hard drive or is OS X, and there is no problem starting ... For cons , I can restart (  > restart ) , sleep or wake up without any problems. I 'm reinstall , change some options, nothing works arghhhh I took screenshots of my console, my Clover configuration and kexts used below. Note: Kexts are too in S/L/E I now have to go, I'll be right on time. Thank you in advance. clover_config_1.tiff clover_config_2.tiff clover_config_3.tiff clover_config_4.tiff clover_config_5.tiff console_log_1.tiff console_log_2.tiff console_log_3.tiff console_log_4.tiff console_log_5.tiff console_log_6.tiff console_log_7.tiff kexts_efi_sle_part.tiff

    Webcam HP

Hi, I recently installed Mac OS X 10.7.2 Lion on my notebook HP ENVY dv6-7320el. I was wondering if there was an "universal" driver pack for the webcam. I have a built-in webcam (HP Truevision HD) and I can't find the drivers anywhere. Also, I don't know where to search the drivers for my GPU (nVidia GeForce GT 635M); without them the UI is a bit laggy. I tried to use the search function but I didn't find something remarkable. Any help will be appreciated, thank you so much
  23. Hi everyone, thanks for the helpin advance! For some reason, my fan doesn't seem to run, only while booting for few seconds, then nothing :s I've looked everywhere and couldnt find any clues as to why.. perhaps editing the dsdt would fix it somehow..? Thanks again
  24. This is a work-in-progress guide to install Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 on the HP Pavilion dv7 4087cl. This guide may work for other HP laptops, but you will have to make some changes with kext installation and what not. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Here's a quick heads up of what's working on this lappy and what's not. What is working: Intel Core i5 430M - All core and threads working with lapic_fix kernel Trackpad & Keyboard - Some basic gestures working with PS2 kext Sound - Works with patched VoodooHDA CD/DVD burner - Works perfectly without any kexts Webcam - Works perfectly without any kexts Ethernet - Works with Lnx2Mac's RTL81xx ethernet kext Shutdown and restart - Works without any configuration Native resolution - Works with "Graphics Mode"="1600x900x32" SD Card reader - Works fine without any kexts, but works better with AnyCardReader kext Some media keys - Play, mute, and volume key, stop key works as rewind key What is not working: QE/CI - OS X always boots with the Intel HD graphics card, and never uses the ATI card WiFi - OS X is not compatible with Intel WiFi cards at all Fingerprint reader - OS X is not compatible with fingerprint readers at all ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Creating OS X Lion Installer USB and Installing OS X Lion You'll need access to a Mac, an 8 GB or bigger USB, and Install Mac OS X Lion.app from the App Store.
