  1. Hi guys, I've been lurking in the shadows for months trying to learn how to hackintosh this laptop. Perhaps if anyone has the time, I could use some help getting it to install Trying to install High Sierra on this Laptop: Lenovo Ideapad 110-171KB-80VK (2017) Intel Core i5 7200U Intel HD 620 Graphics Resolution: 1600x900 Elan PS2 Track Pad - [ACPI\VEN_ETD&DEV_0675 - system device -PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_9D23&SUBSYS_383117AA&REV_21] Realtek Network - [PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8136&SUBSYS_383317AA&REV_07] Realtech audio SATA Controller - [PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_9D03&SUBSYS_382F17AA&REV_21] USB 3.0 XHC - [PCI\VEN_808 --- Using Clover * --- I'll attach it below. I can't quite get it to install, and i've been going in circles for months now ... I'll attach everything I have so far including, verbose pics, clover preboot, Clover folder, etc. Here are some photos of the verbose text leading up to the installer, if maybe there is something useful in here? And now photos of the installer Above is an image of the Installer log, (the main pop up window loads from about 10 mins and stops arbitrarily at 2 minutes left, every time) of the nearly hundred attempts i have made, this is the final screen i get, pretty much no matter what i do. Sometimes the the order of what it says is different , but the main things of interest are: "Target is not convertible to APFS: This volume is not formatted as Mac OS Extended journaled." "Warning: Couldn't find Board ID, Chip ID, & ECID in new namespace, falling back" "Unable to get fs for null" " NO native mechanism to verify Applediagnostics.chunklist" " NO native mechanism to verify Installfa.plist" " NO native mechanism to verify Basesystem.dmg" " NO native mechanism to verify AppleDiagnostics.dmg" " NO native mechanism to verify InstallESD.dmg" " NO native mechanism to verify Basesystem.chumklist" I have tried many many ... many .. different combinations of kexts, drivers, copies of clover, forks of clover - different copies of drivers and kexts from different sources.. including from all the official repositories. * I am not trying to install with APFS - the drive i am using is a spinning HDD - so i don't understand the first line quote above. * I am using a usb2 slot - there is only two on this machine - 1- usb2 and 1- usb3 * As you'll see in the Clover folder i'm using APFSdriverloader. - so the installer should detect the installer-APFS-thing - and see it should be HFS+ ?? no? I'll detail the procedures: I wiped the Target HDD drive with a live linux USB. i prepair the USB with Createinstallmedia method, install clover to the EFI on usb, load kexts and drivers (I've been recently attempting with the Plist from a 'certain other site' Ton*****86) As it has the dvmt preallocation patch and other bits - i'm of course open to ANY other files/pLists .. this is just the one i've been experimenting with lately.) Add ' -v ' in clover options to see the verbose output in the installer (acts sketchy sorta, delayed and sluggish) i use DiskUtility to erase the drive 'Macos extended journaled' Make initial selections, agree to license and begin install. it proceeds to 2 minutes left every time, and hangs. many times i've left it for hours, and even overnight. I'm honestly not kidding, it's nearly 100 times ive' tried this, i've downloaded high sierra from the app store 5 times to rule out that, i've used countless combinations of everything .. i'm almost completely burned out. If anyone can shed some light i'll be VERY thankful!... I'm ready to go in a completely new direction...please please please help I'll put the Clover in the next post because i ran out of space in this one...... Here is the latest clover i've been using, with the preboot, and DSDT/SSDT (F2 & F4) in it. CLOVER-Oct15.zip Thank you very much for ANY help you can provide

    AppleAHCIPort.kext

    Version v328

    2,499 downloads

AppleAHCIPort.kext v328 from High Sierra PB1_17A291m. Info.plist has been edited so Bundle version is 999.1.1 ---> give higher priority loading in kernel cache/pre-linked kernel than v329 from later betas/GM. Need to disable SIP (since editing info.plist invalidates Apple's kext signature). Install in /Library/Extensions (so doesn't get over-written during updates) repair permissions, rebuild caches eg sudo chown -R 0:0 /Library/Extensions/AppleAHCIPort.kext && sudo chmod -R 755 /Library/Extensions/AppleAHCIPort.kext sudo touch /System/Library/Extensions && sudo kextcache -u / Test kext is loadable... sudo kextutil -tn /Library/Extensions/AppleAHCIPort.kext Confirm kext is loaded after rebooting the system... kextstat | grep AHCIPort To use with a USB installer, the kext needs to be included in the prelinkedkernel. Use PLK.tool attached to post#13 to create a new prelinkedkernel with AppleAHCIPort.kext v328, then replace original prelinkedkernel in the installer - post#16.
  3. Nice, seeing High Sierra running on this old but capable system! It rocks with a new ASUS GT1030 Config: Gigabyte EP43-DS3L Core2Quad Q9300 6 GB DDR2 RAM Asus GT1030 2GB Sandisk SSD 128GB TP-Link AC1200 Wifi USB Inateck KT4006 USB 3.0 PCIe (No boot) SMBIOS: iMac14,1 Clover: 4297 A good deal of DSDT editing was necessary to get this machine to boot High Sierra but finally it works flawlessly, even sleep and wake! You NEED to have the DSDT put in place for installation because otherwise macOS doesn't recognize the SATA ports. There are a few important BIOS settings: SATA hast to be set to AHCI and "native" and HPET has to be run "64-bit", I'd recommend to disable IDE and the serial and parallel port. For the GT1030 nVidia Webdrivers are needed, have to boot with nv_disable=1 until you have them installed. You have to install Clover in legacy mode because this old fella does not support UEFI. Only downside: The so often recommended Inateck USB-card isn't recognized by BIOS, so you cannot boot from it. It works perfectly within macOS though, have the ac-Wifi connected to it. config.plist.zip DSDT.aml.zip
  4. Hi, thereMy desktop hackintosh cannot enter the Sleep Mode.I mean it can enter the sleep mode for a few seconds and it will automatically wake up itself. How can I fix this issue. Thanks for your help. My BIOS / APM capture: My system preference / Energy Saver capture:
  5. Even with High Sierra, the Optiplex780 / 760 is not quite at the end. We're still playing! the Optiplex story: 10.10: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/302877-guide-yosemite-1010x-dell-optiplex-780-760/ 10.11: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/308097-guide-el-capitan-1011x-dell-optiplex-780-760-755-790-990/ 10.12: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/312656-guide-macos-sierra-1012-dell-optiplex-780-760-755-790-990/ 10.13: this guide Note: High Sierra supports only CPUs with SSE4 support, example: my Q9400 or my Q8200 working with Sierra. Core2Duo E7200 / Core2Quad Q8200 or higher works as well. See CPU-X.app for your CPU !!! For a direct update from 10.12 to 10.13, you first install the latest version of Clover. Copy your Kext's from Clover/kexts/10.12 to /other. Note new BIOS data and firmware data in Clover's config.plist in SMBIOS. For more information read on. Instructions for Clean Install: 1. Download Install macOS High Sierra.app 2. CreateInstall USB flash drive (8GB) with terminal (If problems with USB, then create internal Install HDD): sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ High\ Sierra.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/USB --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ macOS\ High\ Sierra.app --nointeraction 3. Install current version Clover for HighSierra-Support to your Install medium (Legacy-Method): Install Clover in the ESP Bootloader / Install boot0af in the MBR CloverEFI / Clover-EFI 64Bit SATA Drivers64UEFI / EmuVariableUefi-64 Drivers64UEFI / OsxAptioFixDrv-64 Drivers64UEFI / PartitionDxe-64 Install RC Scripts In Target Volume optional: Theme, free choice Install Clover Preference Pane 4. Copy your config.plist and DSDT from your Sierra HDD or SSD or new users from here mount your EFI partition DSDT.aml insert to EFI/Clover/ACPI/patched/ config.plist insert to EFI/Clover/ Attention! New bios data and new firmware data. Use current version CloverConfigurator! Example Optiplex780/760: my_DSDT.aml.zip (my DSDT, optimized for Core2Quad, configured for HD5450 and Audio LayoutID 13 (0D) for AppleALC + Lilu. Copy your kexts of your Sierra HDD or SSD to EFI/Clover/kexts/other/ Example760/780: these are my kexts for 10.13: other.zip 6. Important preparation with HD5450 (780/760/755) With High Sierra, there is a black screen with the HD5450, because C2D and C2Q have no Injector iGPU. Since High Sierra, the HD5450 needs a rollback from Sierra. WhateverGreen.kext + Lilu.kext does not work with LegacyBios, unfortunately. Save in advance the following Kext's from your Sierra installation from /System/Library/Extensions: AMDRadeonX3000.kext AMDRadeonX3000GLDriver.bundle IOAccelerator2D.plugin IOAcceleratorFamily2.kext Note: Optiplex 790 (or higher) with i? CPU with Injector GPU does not require rollback. 7. apfs.efi This is the current apfs.efi from 10.13.4 DP2: apfs.efi.zip The current original apfs.efi can be found after each install or update in usr/standalone/i386/ (use ShowAllFiles!). The new file system is only for SSDs. HDDs continue to work with HFS+. copy the apfs.efi to EFI/Clover/drivers64/ 8. Now High Sierra install on your HDD or SSD (Partitions with Guid scheme) The installation, even with subsequent updates, can take place in several steps. My experiences: APFS two steps HFS+ one step 8.1 With the HD5450 there is a black screen the first time after the install. I take the SSD out of the Dell and connect it to another Mac. Here I am using the app "EasyKext Pro" and doing the rollback from the backup (step 6 above - AMDRadeonX3000.kext, AMDRadeonX3000GLDriver.bundle, IOAccelerator2D.plugin and IOAcceleratorFamily2.kext from Sierra 10.12.6). Reinstall SSD in the Dell and now we get a picture in High Sierra. after installation: 9. Terminal (for unsigned apps) sudo spctl --master-disable 10. Install Clover on your HDD or SSD (Legacy-Method): Install Clover in the ESP Bootloader / Install boot0af in the MBR CloverEFI / Clover-EFI 64Bit SATA Drivers64UEFI / EmuVariableUefi-64 Drivers64UEFI / OsxAptioFixDrv-64 Drivers64UEFI / PartitionDxe-64 Install RC Scripts In Target Volume optional: Theme, free choice Install Clover Preference Pane 11. 6. Hello to everyone, is nice to be here. After spending 2 weeks or so over the month I've finally managed to install my new Hackintosh HS 10.13.6. My HW: CPU: Intel Pentium G3420 3.20GHz MOBO: H81M-VG4 RAM: HyperX 8GB 1600MHz DDR3 PSU: CX 750M 750W GPU: GEFORCE GTX 750ti 2GB vRAM GDDR5 I know, I know, this is probably the worst hackintosh hardware you ever seen but at the moment I don't have a better computer. Everything work fine, I made a vanilla installation using clover and everything work fine. The only problem is the lag part. Many people told me that my pentium will not have hardware video decoding so it will have to do software decoding which is slow on my chip. Then I should replace my hardware - motherboard and everything else. I ask to you, guys: there is a workaround to this? I already installed the last Nvidia Web Drivers (387.10.10.10.10.40.105). On clover I apported a little edit to my InjectIntel FakeID typing as value 0x1902 (I'm using an Haswell GT1) and it worked, now my hackintosh is more smooth - window resize or similar animations are more fluid and I can finally watch youtube videos in 720-1080p. But lag remains. I can't see a 1080p video using quicktime because is too laggy and I also tried GeekBench some days ago and I received a result of 21 fps, lol. Also right now when I'm typing there is a little, little lag. I should stop see videos and still use this hackintosh with this problem or there is a workaround to fix it? I asked on every Hackintosh discord group but no chances... everyone told me the same thing but also to ask to someone else with a different point of view. Thank you to everyone. Some sources about my exactly problem: https://www.reddit.com/r/hackintosh/comments/6hzky4/laggy_fullscreen_animation_on_youtube_videos/
  7. Installing macOS High Sierra 10.13.2 on ASUS Vivobook S400C (also know as S400CA) Specifically in S400CA-CA178H model, most likely all other models are compatible Updates: 12/20/2017 04:41h GMT-0 - Added config.plist. - Added USBs.kext to replace FakePCIID.kext, FakePCIID_XHCIMux.kext and USBInjectAll.kext. 12/11/2017 20:26h GMT-0 - Added update instructions. - I use SSD. I set the guide for HDD too. Small change. 11/29/2017 01:10h GMT-0 - Added USB 3.0 Kexts - Bonus: Touchscreen now works. 11/29/2017 00:18h GMT-0 - Added HDMI audio patch to Clover 11/24/2017 00:16h GMT-0 - Complete rewritten. What works and what does not work - Processor -> Work. All SpeedStep stages. - Video Card -> Work. HD4000. Full QE/CI. - Chipset -> Work. - HDMI -> Work. Audio too. - VGA -> Not work. - Audio -> Work. - WiFi -> Not work. Need to be replaced. - Ethernet-> Work. - Keyboard and touchpad -> Work. - FN keyboards keys -> Work. - Brightness control -> Work. - Touchscreen -> Work. - Sleep -> Work. - Battery -> Work. - Card Reader -> Not tested yet. (TODO) - Integrated Camera -> Work. - Bluetooth -> Not work. - 2nd stage boot logo -> Not work. What you need to install - Running install of macOS on VMware -> Downloaded version 10.13 via torrent (search by "10.13 vmware" torrent). You can use a real Mac of an friend. My method only tested on Mavericks (10.9) and above. - One USB flash drive of 8GB or bigger. - macOS High Sierra install app -> Downloaded via App Store inside the virtual machine. Downloaded version 10.13.2. - CloverEFI -> Also download inside the virtual machine. I used build 4334. - DSDT patch skills -> Needed to battery works. How to patch DSDT. Or you can download mine DSDT below, but would not recommend. How create the install disk Prepare flash drive: Format the disk with GUID partition mapping and name it "Install". - Open Disk Utility. - Click in View, then "Show All Devices". - Select the destination flash drive, then Erase. - Name: Install, Format: Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and Scheme: GUID Partition Map If the Erase popup in Disk Utility don't work. Close it and run this in terminal: diskutil eraseDisk JHFS+ Install /dev/diskX X is the number of the destination disk. Use "diskutil list" to discover. Create install files in flash drive: Open terminal and run this command: sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ High\ Sierra.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Install --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ macOS\ High\ Sierra.app --nointeractionThis will take about 30 minutes. Install bootloader: You need to format the EFI partition of the install flash drive to FAT32: sudo newfs_msdos -v EFI /dev/diskXs1 X is the number of the disk. Use "diskutil list" to discover. Download the CloverEFI (used 4334) and install with this options on "Install macOS High Sierra": Options: - Install for UEFI booting only - Install Clover in the ESP - Drivers64UEFI - CsmVideoDxe-64 - Drivers64UEFI - OsxAptioFixDrv-64 Adjust the config.plist genereated: Will be created a partition named EFI. Edit the /EFI/CLOVER/config.plist inside this new partition and change those values: - Alter value: GUI - ScreenResolution to 1366x768 - Rename key: Graphics - #Inject -> Inject - Alter value: Graphics - Inject - ATI - FALSE - Alter value: Graphics - Inject - Intel - TRUE - Rename key: Graphics - #ig-platform-id -> ig-platform-id - Alter value: Graphics - ig-platform-id to 0x01660003 - Alter value: KernelAndKextPatches - AppleIntelCPUPM to TRUE - Rename key: #KextsToPatch -> KextsToPatch - Remove all <dict>...</dict> in <array> inside KextsToPatch - Add <dict/> bellow in <array> inside KextsToPatch: <dict> <key>Comment</key> <string>HD 4000 brightness fix</string> <key>Disabled</key> <false/> <key>Find</key> <data> EAcAABAHAAA= </data> <key>Name</key> <string>AppleIntelFramebufferCapri</string> <key>Replace</key> <data> EhMAABITAAA= </data> </dict> P.s.: I will provide below my config.plist as attachment. Add essentials Kexts: Download those Kexts and put in /EFI/CLOVER/kexts/10.13/ - Download the Smart Touchpad kext from here. I used the version 4.7 beta 5. - Download the HWSensors dmg and use the FakeSMC.kext from inside. I used the version 6.26.1440. This is very important. Can't boot without it. Put the Clover installer on the flash drive too. Now you can start the instalation without problem (I guess). BIOS Setup Configuration and Installation Bios configuration: - Shutdown the ultrabook and insert the flash drive on the left side on upper port (on the side Keystone hole). - Power on with F2 pressed to enter BIOS setup. - Go to "Save & Exit" and press "Restore Defaults". - Go to "Advanced" tab and change VT-d to Disabled. - Go to "Save & Exit" again and select "Save Changes and Exit". - When ASUS logo appear, press and hold ESC to enter Boot Menu. - Select the flash drive named with UEFI prefix. In my case "UEFI: KingstonDataTraveler 2.0PMAP". - The clover menu will show. Use the arrow keys to mark the flash drive. The option name is "Boot OS X Install from Install macOS High Sierra", then press Enter. - If you did everything correctly, you will see the installation screen. BUG Note: I delete all entries from the list. With that, I could not add anything else. It just didn't work. I had to put some USB device so the list is not empty, so I can add a new entry. Strange thing... Format destination disk: Format the disk with GUID partition mapping and name it "HD". - Select Disk Utility in the list, then press Continue. - Click in View, then "Show All Devices". - Select the destination Disk, then Erase. - Name: HD, Format: Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and Scheme: GUID Partition Map If the Erase popup in Disk Utility don't work. Close it and run this in terminal: diskutil eraseDisk JHFS+ HD /dev/diskX X is the number of the destination disk. Use "diskutil list" to discover. Close Disk Utility. If the destination is SSD: Start installation without APFS conversion: Open Terminal and run: /Volumes/Image\ Volume/Install\ macOS\ High\ Sierra.app/Contents/Resources/startosinstall --volume /Volumes/HD --converttoapfs NO --agreetolicenseThis will take about 20 minutes. If the destination is HDD: Start installation normally: Select "Install macOS", then Continue. Follow instructions in screen. After install: After first part install the system will reboot. In Clover main menu, press enter in "Boot macOS Install from Install macOS High Sierra" once again The second part of the installation will begin. This will take 16 minutes. Post installation Install bootloader: When the second part of install finish, the system will reboot again. After performing the user initial setup and go to the desktop, you need to install Clover on internal disk. Open the Clover installer inside flash drive that you copied before. Use same options above but choose the system partition this time. Now you need to replace the EFI folder inside your internal disk EFI parittion with EFI folder inside flash card EFI partition. The flash drive EFI partition is unmounted. Mount with "diskutil mount /dev/rdiskXs1". To know what X is, use "diskutil list", most likely is 1. Add Clover entry to UEFI: Now remove flash drive and restart the system. With F2 pressed to enter UEFI BIOS. - Go to "Boot" and press "Add New Boot Option". - Select "Add boot option", write CLOVER and press Enter. - In "Select Filesystem", choose the option that contains "HD". Like "PCI(1F|2)\DevicePath(Type 3, SubType 12)HD(Part1,Sig2a0127c1-ea5d-44d3-8967-57e59c1f0e3b)". - Select "Path for boot option", write EFI\BOOT\BOOTX64.efi and press Enter. - Select "Create" and press enter. - Go to "Save & Exit" and select "Save Changes and Exit". Others Kexts: I strongly recommend always use newest versions. If you are too lazy, I attach on end of the post. Ethernet: AtherosE2200Ethernet 2.2.2 Sound: VoodooHDA 2.9.0d10 (.kext only) You need to select the output there in System Preferences after reboot. Battery: ACPIBatteryManager by RehabMan (version 2017-1001). You need to path DSDT (below). 8. THE GREAT GUIDE HIGH SIERRA + Z820 *** 10/06/2018 ********************************************************************************* ———————————————————————————————————————— ———————————————————————————————————————— (from El Capitan´s guide) (from Sierra´s guide) Introduction: Hi everybody. Again, a new guide version, updated to High Sierra. I hope it will be useful for you all. This time, the update is pretty soft and easy. Basically, the 100% of Sierra’s guide is still valid for High Sierra. The guide has been updated to update links, kexts versions … etc, and some parts try to be more clear. Just there are some important topic to keep in mind: 1. Whats new?. There is a new and absolutely important setting to install High Sierra. We have to activate “legacy ACPI cpu tables” in Advanced Section, in BIOS. Without this option enabled, we will get a KP. This option changes completely the structure of the SSDT needed for PM. We have to get rid old SSDT versions, if you extracted it with this option disabled. And all SSDT generated by ssdtPRGen also. We won’t get PM. And, if your DSDT has the “SSDT-1-CpuDef” code injected, (following my guide, to avoid No ACPI Processor declarations found in the DSDT! Error, (see PM section) ) you will have to delete that part, because the DSDT will cause a KP. A better method is described in this guide. No need of add estrange code into DSDT. 2.Can I use my old files from Sierra´s EFI folder? The most important, yes. You can keep your config.plist and your DSDT … saving tons of time. You have to use the new drivers64Uefi files installed by newer clover version, and update the kexts versions of main kexts. The specific kexts for our dear machine, USB3, Astek driver, remains in same version. Of course, I provide of all links and files (into my stuff folder) in this guide. 3. So, do I Need repeat again every step of this guide?. If you come from Sierra´s guide, no. After 1st boot and graphics divers install, you can use your previous files (see point 1.) reboot and jump directly to PM section. For new users, Yes, sure. 4. Consider any part of this guide open to discuss. If you see something wrong, or which could be improved, please, just say it, and I’ll fix it. English is not my native language. If you can’t understand some step, or something could be best written, please, just say it and I’ll fix it too FOR 26x7 and 26x3 USERS!!!. This section remains freezed. I didn´t have much feedback to find out a fix for “Should have XX threads but only found YY” error. If you are user of this cpu models, contact me via PM. Who knows, maybe, the ACPIoption enabled could be part of the fix for this error. 5. And please, (this is for "anonymous" users) don't PM me with personalquestions. No need for that.Any question can be answered openly Ok, let’s go.
  9. I had posted a note earlier with little feedback so I thought I would post HOW TO INSTALL High Sierra on VMware Workstation 12.5.7 It is much easier than the complicated scripts that I have seen. Assuming that you have a functioning macOS system: 1) On your existing macOS, go to the App Store and download the High Sierra installer. Some people have reported that a stub installer is only downloaded although this has not happened to me. If it happens to you, follow the instructions on this page: http://osxdaily.com/2017/09/27/download-complete-macos-high-sierra-installer/ 2) The easy way to create a bootable USB is to use Install Disk Creator. It has been updated for High Sierra: https://macdaddy.io/install-disk-creator/ OR, Using a Terminal window, you could use the command: sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ High\ Sierra.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/MyVolume Note: Replace "MyVolume" with the name of the macOS volume of your USB key 3) Create a new Virtual Machine in VMware Workstation. Select "Apple Mac OS X" as the Guest O/S and "macOS 10.12" as the version. Select the default for all other options (although I prefer to have the virtual disk as one single file) 4) Edit the newly created VMX file and append the two following lines: smc.version = 0 sata0:0.virtualSSD = "0" 5) Start your VM, and attach your USB key to the VM so that VMware can boot the installer. Proceed with a normal installation of macOS. Use Disk Utility to format the new virtual disk as a "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" DO NOT SELECT APFS as your volume type. 6) Install High Sierra using all normal defaults. 7) Install the VMware Tools from VMware Workstation 14. There is new support for HiDPI displays which is great. 8) After a sucessful install, shutdown your macOS VM and edit the VMX file. Now change the virtualSSD value to a "1": sata0:0.virtualSSD = "1" The reason why you cannot install High Sierra in VMware Workstation 12 is that (in my understanding, someone may correct me), in the second phase of the install, the installer reformats the volume to APFS which Workstation 12 cannot boot from properly. But forcing macOS to think it is an HD disk and not SSD allows a proper install. Then changing it back allows macOS to see its virtual drive as an SSD and will not attempt to reformat it to APFS. If anyone has additional comments, please feel free to correct me or add.
  10. While not exactly a hackintosh, I'm running a 2009 4.1 Mac Pro flashed to 5.1. NVMe drives seem to be supported natively now. Previously I had to use pikemanalpha's script to generate a custom kext in 10.12. This beta sees both my AHCI Samsung 951 and my NVMe version as well.
  11. Making a High Sierra USB Installer Entirely From Scratch in Windows This is a proof of concept tutorial, to show it's possible to create a vanilla High Sierra installer, entirely from scratch, in Windows (even without App Store downloaded "Install macOS High Sierra.app" from a real Mac ). @PikeRAlpha's link to Apple's Software Catalog provides us with all the URLs necessary to download the needed files directly from Apple instead of some dubious source from the internet... Pre-Requisites 8GB or larger USB drive Boot Disk Utility v2.1.2017rev021b from @CVAD TransMac (free 15 day trial) Paragon Hard Disk Manager Free Download Installer Files Directly from Apple 1) Browse Apple's Regular Software Catalog and find the URLs to download the following 6 installer files... BaseSystem.dmg BaseSystem.chunklist InstallInfo.plist InstallESDDmg.pkg AppleDiagnostics.dmg AppleDiagnostics.chunklist (Hint - search page for "InstallESD" to find its URL and others nearby) to a folder named "SharedSupport" on your Windows NTFS drive. A browser download manager (eg Chrono for Chrome, dTA for FireFox) is handy since InstallESD is >4GB ---> allows you to pause/resume interrupted download... 2) Rename InstallESDDmg.pkg to InstallESD.dmg 3) Edit InstallInfo.plist with WordPad/text editor to remove the chunklistURL and chunklistid keys for InstallESD, and renaming it from InstallESDDmg.pkg to InstallESD.dmg (example of edited file attached to this post)... Note: You can verify the SHA1 checksum of your InstallESD.dmg and BaseSystem.dmg with the correct ones at this website. Boot Disk Utility to format the Installer USB and Restore OS X Base System HFS partition 1. Format USB with BDU & latest Clover ---> creates boot files in CLOVER partition + second FAT partition 2. Extract 4.hfs from \SharedSupport\BaseSystem.dmg with BDU --> save to it's local folder 3. Restore 4.hfs to USB second partition with BDU ---> 2nd partition becomes bootable "OS X Base System" Paragon Hard Disk Manager to extend HFS Partition to its Full Extent Open Paragon Partition Manager Free and resize the second partition of the USB drive to the full size allowed. Don't forget to apply the changes at the end... Transmac to Copy "SharedSupport" folder to OS X Base System 1. Open the TransMac program and navigate to the HFS+ Volume/Install macOS High Sierra.app/Contents folder. Right click anywhere in the empty space on the RHS pane and select "Copy Here"... 2. In the next stage, select the "SharedSupport" folder we created above as the "Files and Folders to be copied to the Mac Volume"... Clover Settings Clover configuration is required now. The default config.plist (in the Clover FAT32 partition of the USB) maybe sufficient to boot your machine if you’re lucky. If not, look at the Clover Wiki, Clover Instructions and Clover Configuration Thread for pointers and edit /EFI/Clover/config.plist accordingly with Wordpad or Notepad. The location of the important configuration files for Clover are summarized below config.plist--->EFI/CLOVER folder DSDT.aml with or without SSDT.aml--->EFI/CLOVER/ACPI/patched (don't need one if your DSDT is auto patched by Clover in config.plist) Kexts eg FakeSMC, NullCPUPowerManagement --->EFI/CLOVER/kexts/<osx version> or /Other. NB BootDiskUtility by default already has FakeSMC.kext installed here. You may need to add VoodooPS2Controller for your laptop keyboard/trackpad to work. If UEFI booting, you will most likely need one of the OsxAptioFixDrv-64 drivers copied from /EFI/CLOVER/drivers-off/drivers64UEFI to /EFI/CLOVER/drivers64UEFI. If you want to use the installer to run High Sierra in Windows on VMware, you can follow my guide to set up the Virtual Machine and replace Clover's default config with EFI_Clover for VMware (which is compatible to run in VMware). In the screenshots below, I have attached the USB Installer (in this case PhysicalDrive7) to my macOS Virtual Machine. Reboot the system to the USB installer to install High Sierra ... What happens if we don't have access to TransMac or Paragon Hard Disk Manager? Not a problem, as long as we get "OS X Base System" bootable, we can launch terminal from the Utilities Menu to copy the SharedSupport folder over to the Installer app. In essence, we will build the full installer app = 5GB+ on the target HD eg "Macintosh HD", by copying both the "small" installer app = 15MB (on "OS X Base System") and the SharedSupport folder from the NTFS volume (mounted in this example on /Volumes/DATA)... -bash-3.2# cd / -bash-3.2# cp -R Install\ macOS\ High\ Sierra.app /Volumes/Macintosh\ HD/ -bash-3.2# cp -R /Volumes/DATA/SharedSupport /Volumes/Macintosh\ HD/Install\ macOS\ High\ Sierra.app/Contents/ ...then start installation with the startosinstall utility... -bash-3.2# /Volumes/Macintosh\ HD/Install\ macOS\ High\ Sierra.app/Contents/Resources/startosinstall --volume /Volumes/Macintosh\ HD --converttoapfs NO --applicationpath /Volumes/Macintosh\ HD/Install\ macOS\ High\ Sierra.app The above steps can be automated with the attached "startosinstall.command" script, which will assemble "Install macOS High Sierra.app" on "Macintosh HD" and launch the startosinstall utility targeting the "Macintosh HD" volume. Copy/download to "Macintosh HD", then run in terminal (after attaching DATA USB with /Shared Support folder)... cd "/Volumes/Macintosh HD" chmod +x startosinstall.command ./startosinstall.command Updated Download Links for macOS Mojave 10.14_18A391 Browse Apple's Regular Software Catalog and find the URLs to download the following 6 installer files... BaseSystem.dmg BaseSystem.chunklist InstallInfo.plist InstallESDDmg.pkg AppleDiagnostics.dmg AppleDiagnostics.chunklist Note: In Mojave, Apple has removed the --converttoapfs NO and --applicationpath arguments from the startosinstall utility.... eg to use startosinstall for the above section "What happens if we don't have access to TransMac or Paragon Hard Disk Manager?", the syntax is now -bash-3.2# /Volumes/Macintosh\ HD/Install\ macOS\ Mojave.app/Contents/Resources/startosinstall --volume /Volumes/Macintosh\ HD This basically means that for Mojave, the default installation will always convert the target volume to the apfs file system. startosinstall.command.zip InstallInfo.plist_edited_10.13.6.zip InstallInfo.plist_edited_10.14.zip
  12. Hi, I've got W520 with running High Sierra on it with configuration based on the great guide by @tluck (http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/285678-lenovo-thinkpad-t420-with-uefi-only). I works great with integrated video card, the only thing that I'm unable to get working is Nvidia card (Nvidia Quadro 1000m). By far I tired the following configuration: SMBIOS set to MBP 10.1 / 9.1 / 8.1 Nvidia Web Driver 378.10.10.10.20.107 Nvidia enabled in the Clover Video card set to discrete in BIOS As a result, after boot, I've got flickering screen with disappearing windows and some artifacts, unfortunately not usable at all. Does anyone has managed to get this discrete card working on this notebook? Thanks

Patched OSInstaller.framework to allow macOS 10.13 installation on MBR partition. To use those patched files you must follow HowTo to create an USB installer. You can't just run the app downloaded from Mac App Store. The patch is made base on 落下爱@pcbeta 10.10.x MBR patch method, and more patch for 10.13 Firmware check by crazybirdy. What is this patched OSInstaller doing? 1. Patch the MBR check, allow macOS 10.13 installation on MBR partition. 2. Patch the Firmware check, bypass the error of "An error occurred while verifying firmware". 3. This patched MBR OSInstaller method works with both MBR and GPT partition (GPT+recovery). No longer need to set new SMbiosversion, FirmwareFeatures, and FirmwareFeaturesMask with this MBR-patch. What's the difference between createinstallmedia method, MBR-Manual-Method, and MBR-Automatic-Method? As the following.... 1. createinstallmedia method, needs stage 1, stage 2 installation process, which is worked with GUID partition only. 2. MBR-Manual-Method (same as 10.12), install via stage 2 manually, which is worked with both MBR and GUID, HFS+ and APFS. We can manually format as MBR or GPT, HFS+ or APFS on installation screen like as 10.12. We can manually select MBR HFS+ partition to install 10.13 and 10.14 on installation screen now. Needn't to update the MBR-Manual-Method files, it will still work on 10.13, and 10.14 future versions, I think so. It can be installed as Fresh installation on formated blank partition only, but can't be installed as update from previous version. 3. MBR-Automatic-Method (new for 10.13+), install via stage 2 automatically, which is worked with both MBR and GUID, HFS+ and APFS. It can be installed as Fresh installation on formated blank partition, and can be installed as update from previous version. How to make 10.13 installer for MBR (MBR-Manual-Method)? Just use MBR-EasyInstallerMaker to make installer, it works with both MBR and GPT. Read HowTo inside the dmg first, same as 10.12. Read HowTo Q/A Q6. How to download the full installer app via swscan.apple.com, instead of App Store? Read HowTo Q/A Q7. How to update 10.13.x combo-update to MBR and GPT with installScript directly? How to make 10.13 installer for MBR (MBR-Automatic-Method)? Just use 13MBRinstallerMaker to make installer, it works with both MBR and GPT. Read HowTo inside the dmg first, new for 10.13+. Read HowTo Q/A Q9. How to update 10.13.x combo-update to MBR and GPT with installScript directly? And, need a SMBIOS supported with /System/Library/CoreServices/PlatformSupport.plist.
  14. Hello everyone, I was able to install macOS Sierra 10.12.6 a few months ago successfully with working audio, internet, etc. But now I want to upgrade to High Sierra and am not sure whether or not it will be compatible with my system. (Tried to do it using a High Sierra USB. Wouldn't boot into installer, showed "+++++++++++++" or something.) My specs are: Dell Optiplex 3010 Intel Core i3-3240 @ 3.40GHz (HD2500 Integrated Graphics) 4GB of RAM NVIDIA Quadro FX1800 (Want to use this GPU, have an extra Radeon HD7470 somewhere that I can also use in this if needed) Conexant CX20641 Audio Realtek RTL8111E Ethernet So, can I upgrade to High Sierra? Please let me know. EDIT: I kept getting this error: (See attached image) Thanks -Discount_Mac
  15. Hi, I noticed some weird behavior with macOS High Sierra. This system was working just fine on Sierra 10.12.5, until I decided to update to High Sierra (10.13.3). The upgrade process went mostly fine I guess, but it got stuck in an infinite spinning wheel which would just keep overlapping. I went into verbose mode, and sure enough, I found "IOConsoleUsers: gIOScreenLockState 3, hs 0, bs 0, now 0, sm 0x0" repeating over and over along with ACM errors... I'm really lost right now. I can boot in recovery mode and safe mode just fine, when the graphics drivers aren't loaded. Web drivers aren't installed. I installed NvidiaGraphicsFixup, but it didn't fix the issue. I tried deleting the native graphics drivers from macOS and installing web drivers, but it didn't help. SMBIOS: iMac13,1 Graphics card: ASUS GT630-2GD3 (It's a Fermi card and it needs injection, so I modified my DSDT. Full graphics acceleration worked in Sierra. No Clover injection. I tried using Clover injection instead, I saw no difference.) CPU: Intel Core i3-3210, iGPU disabled in UEFI All kexts updated to their latest versions, along with Clover. For more info, you can refer to the GitHub issue where I posted it. https://github.com/lvs1974/NvidiaGraphicsFixup/issues/3 Any help would be appreciated. Thank you for your time! config.plist
  16. Hi I am try to install High Sierra, as per ##### I have have successfully booted from the install usb drive and have booted into "Install macOS High Sierra". I had to add a boot flag (-no_compat_check) to the clover bootloader in order for the usb stick to boot properly. Also, at first I couldn't see the SSD drive in disk utility, but I fixed that by asking disk utility to show all drives. Onto the current problem. I am having major issues trying to install High Sierra to a NVMe SSD. When I run "Install macOS High "Sierra" I get the following error: "The version of macOS installed on this mac is newer than the version you are trying to install. When a new update is available, you can install it from the Updates plane in the Mac App Store. If you want to reinstall macOS, please use macOS recovery." Also, It doesn't matter if the startup volume is formatted as APFS or HFS+. If I format the drive using GPARTED on linux, the installer just says the startup volume doesn't have journaling enable. If I then run disk utility and enable journaling on the startup volume, then go back to the installer, I get the aforementioned error msg. I have the following specs: i9-7900. Asus Prime X299 Deluxe. ADATA 512GB NVMe SSD. How do I fix this issue?

  19. Hi guys, My current build is working flawlessly under High Sierra except for one thing : my Roccat Kone EMP mouse won't work after waking up from sleep. I have to disconnect/reconnect it to get it to work again. Other mice (less sophisticated) do work upon wake. However , the Roccat mouse doesn't have any issue under Windows 10 or on an iMac running SL 10.6.3 . I wish I could try under Sierra ... HibernationFixup.kext

Hi! I found this kext here: https://github.com/acidanthera/HibernationFixup Changelog says that: HibernationFixup Changelog v1.2.3 Basic 10.14 support So, does it mean that it is possible to use hibernation in 10.13+? And how? I tried to install this kext and set hibernatemode to 1, 3, 25, 29 etc but with no success. It does not work. But this kext's author clearly said that modern mac oses are supported. So, my question is - is it possible to turn on hibernation? I suffer from sudden power loss from time to time and hibernation would solve this. But how? 10x
