  1. Even with High Sierra, the Optiplex780 / 760 is not quite at the end. We're still playing! the Optiplex story: 10.10: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/302877-guide-yosemite-1010x-dell-optiplex-780-760/ 10.11: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/308097-guide-el-capitan-1011x-dell-optiplex-780-760-755-790-990/ 10.12: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/312656-guide-macos-sierra-1012-dell-optiplex-780-760-755-790-990/ 10.13: this guide Note: High Sierra supports only CPUs with SSE4 support, example: my Q9400 or my Q8200 working with Sierra. Core2Duo E7200 / Core2Quad Q8200 or higher works as well. See CPU-X.app for your CPU !!! For a direct update from 10.12 to 10.13, you first install the latest version of Clover. Copy your Kext's from Clover/kexts/10.12 to /other. Note new BIOS data and firmware data in Clover's config.plist in SMBIOS. For more information read on. Instructions for Clean Install: 1. Download Install macOS High Sierra.app 2. CreateInstall USB flash drive (8GB) with terminal (If problems with USB, then create internal Install HDD): sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ High\ Sierra.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/USB --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ macOS\ High\ Sierra.app --nointeraction 3. Install current version Clover for HighSierra-Support to your Install medium (Legacy-Method): Install Clover in the ESP Bootloader / Install boot0af in the MBR CloverEFI / Clover-EFI 64Bit SATA Drivers64UEFI / EmuVariableUefi-64 Drivers64UEFI / OsxAptioFixDrv-64 Drivers64UEFI / PartitionDxe-64 Install RC Scripts In Target Volume optional: Theme, free choice Install Clover Preference Pane 4. Copy your config.plist and DSDT from your Sierra HDD or SSD or new users from here mount your EFI partition DSDT.aml insert to EFI/Clover/ACPI/patched/ config.plist insert to EFI/Clover/ Attention! New bios data and new firmware data. Use current version CloverConfigurator! Example Optiplex780/760: my_DSDT.aml.zip (my DSDT, optimized for Core2Quad, configured for HD5450 and Audio LayoutID 13 (0D) for AppleALC + Lilu. Additionally Framebuffer in the Clover is "Shrike" for the HD 5450) my_config.plist.zip (Create serial number, board serial number, MLB, ROM !!!) Example Optiplex755: by @ricoc90 (files and info): http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/332512-guide-macos-high-sierra-1013-dell-optiplex-780-760-755-790-990/#entry2598770 Example Optiplex790/990: by @morpheousman (files and info): http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/332512-guide-macos-high-sierra-1013-dell-optiplex-780-760-755-790-990/#entry2595193 by @chris1111 (files and info): http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/332512-guide-macos-high-sierra-1013-dell-optiplex-780-760-755-790-990/#entry2595284 Thanks @morpheousman and @chris1111 5. Copy your kexts of your Sierra HDD or SSD to EFI/Clover/kexts/other/ Example760/780: these are my kexts for 10.13: other.zip 6. Important preparation with HD5450 (780/760/755) With High Sierra, there is a black screen with the HD5450, because C2D and C2Q have no Injector iGPU. Since High Sierra, the HD5450 needs a rollback from Sierra. WhateverGreen.kext + Lilu.kext does not work with LegacyBios, unfortunately. Save in advance the following Kext's from your Sierra installation from /System/Library/Extensions: AMDRadeonX3000.kext AMDRadeonX3000GLDriver.bundle IOAccelerator2D.plugin IOAcceleratorFamily2.kext Note: Optiplex 790 (or higher) with i? CPU with Injector GPU does not require rollback. 7. apfs.efi This is the current apfs.efi from 10.13.4 DP2: apfs.efi.zip The current original apfs.efi can be found after each install or update in usr/standalone/i386/ (use ShowAllFiles!). The new file system is only for SSDs. HDDs continue to work with HFS+. copy the apfs.efi to EFI/Clover/drivers64/ 8. Now High Sierra install on your HDD or SSD (Partitions with Guid scheme) The installation, even with subsequent updates, can take place in several steps. My experiences: APFS two steps HFS+ one step 8.1 With the HD5450 there is a black screen the first time after the install. I take the SSD out of the Dell and connect it to another Mac. Here I am using the app "EasyKext Pro" and doing the rollback from the backup (step 6 above - AMDRadeonX3000.kext, AMDRadeonX3000GLDriver.bundle, IOAccelerator2D.plugin and IOAcceleratorFamily2.kext from Sierra 10.12.6). Reinstall SSD in the Dell and now we get a picture in High Sierra. after installation: 9. Terminal (for unsigned apps) sudo spctl --master-disable 10. Install Clover on your HDD or SSD (Legacy-Method): Install Clover in the ESP Bootloader / Install boot0af in the MBR CloverEFI / Clover-EFI 64Bit SATA Drivers64UEFI / EmuVariableUefi-64 Drivers64UEFI / OsxAptioFixDrv-64 Drivers64UEFI / PartitionDxe-64 Install RC Scripts In Target Volume optional: Theme, free choice Install Clover Preference Pane 11. Copy your config.plist, DSDT, Kext´s and apfs.efi to your High Sierra HDD or SSD after installation sound: Please ask if you have problems with the AppleALC method! It is not hard to get it right. optional Audio Optiplex780/760: current AppleALC + Lilu in the Clover's Kext folder works for the Optiplex780/760 with: LayoutID 11 (0B) ManualMode LayoutID 13 (0D) autodetect Speaker/HP The current release can be found here: https://github.com/vit9696/AppleALC/releases https://github.com/vit9696/Lilu/releases optional Audio Optiplex755: trial_AppleALC_Lilu_Optiplex755_layoutID28_1C.zip LayoutID 28 (1C) please report optional Audio Optiplex790 and 990: current AppleALC + Lilu in the Clover's Kext folder works for the Optiplex790/990 with: LayoutID 15 (0F) ManualMode LayoutID 16 (10) autodetect Speaker/HP Night Shift Patch: patched_signed_Night_Shift_CoreBrightness.framework_10.13.zip Replace the original in /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/ and reboot. 3. Making a High Sierra USB Installer Entirely From Scratch in Windows This is a proof of concept tutorial, to show it's possible to create a vanilla High Sierra installer, entirely from scratch, in Windows (even without App Store downloaded "Install macOS High Sierra.app" from a real Mac ). @PikeRAlpha's link to Apple's Software Catalog provides us with all the URLs necessary to download the needed files directly from Apple instead of some dubious source from the internet... Pre-Requisites 8GB or larger USB drive Boot Disk Utility v2.1.2017rev021b from @CVAD TransMac (free 15 day trial) Paragon Hard Disk Manager Free Download Installer Files Directly from Apple 1) Browse Apple's Regular Software Catalog and find the URLs to download the following 6 installer files... BaseSystem.dmg BaseSystem.chunklist InstallInfo.plist InstallESDDmg.pkg AppleDiagnostics.dmg AppleDiagnostics.chunklist (Hint - search page for "InstallESD" to find its URL and others nearby) to a folder named "SharedSupport" on your Windows NTFS drive. A browser download manager (eg Chrono for Chrome, dTA for FireFox) is handy since InstallESD is >4GB ---> allows you to pause/resume interrupted download... 2) Rename InstallESDDmg.pkg to InstallESD.dmg 3) Edit InstallInfo.plist with WordPad/text editor to remove the chunklistURL and chunklistid keys for InstallESD, and renaming it from InstallESDDmg.pkg to InstallESD.dmg (example of edited file attached to this post)... Note: You can verify the SHA1 checksum of your InstallESD.dmg and BaseSystem.dmg with the correct ones at this website. Boot Disk Utility to format the Installer USB and Restore OS X Base System HFS partition 1. Format USB with BDU & latest Clover ---> creates boot files in CLOVER partition + second FAT partition 2. Extract 4.hfs from \SharedSupport\BaseSystem.dmg with BDU --> save to it's local folder 3. Restore 4.hfs to USB second partition with BDU ---> 2nd partition becomes bootable "OS X Base System" Paragon Hard Disk Manager to extend HFS Partition to its Full Extent Open Paragon Partition Manager Free and resize the second partition of the USB drive to the full size allowed. Don't forget to apply the changes at the end... Transmac to Copy "SharedSupport" folder to OS X Base System 1. Open the TransMac program and navigate to the HFS+ Volume/Install macOS High Sierra.app/Contents folder. Right click anywhere in the empty space on the RHS pane and select "Copy Here"... 2. In the next stage, select the "SharedSupport" folder we created above as the "Files and Folders to be copied to the Mac Volume"... Clover Settings Clover configuration is required now. The default config.plist (in the Clover FAT32 partition of the USB) maybe sufficient to boot your machine if you’re lucky. If not, the hackintosh-vanilla-desktop-guide has some good explanations on the various settings available and also offers sample configuration files based on CPU type. Also, look at the Clover Wiki, Clover Instructions and Clover Configuration Thread for pointers and edit /EFI/Clover/config.plist accordingly with Wordpad or Notepad. The location of the important configuration files for Clover are summarized below config.plist--->EFI/CLOVER folder DSDT.aml with or without SSDT.aml--->EFI/CLOVER/ACPI/patched (don't need one if your DSDT is auto patched by Clover in config.plist) Kexts eg FakeSMC, NullCPUPowerManagement --->EFI/CLOVER/kexts/<osx version> or /Other. NB BootDiskUtility by default already has FakeSMC.kext installed here. You may need to add VoodooPS2Controller for your laptop keyboard/trackpad to work. If UEFI booting, you will most likely need one of the OsxAptioFixDrv-64 drivers copied from /EFI/CLOVER/drivers-off/drivers64UEFI to /EFI/CLOVER/drivers64UEFI. If you want to use the installer to run High Sierra in Windows on VMware, you can follow my guide to set up the Virtual Machine and replace Clover's default config with EFI_Clover for VMware (which is compatible to run in VMware). In the screenshots below, I have attached the USB Installer (in this case PhysicalDrive7) to my macOS Virtual Machine. Reboot the system to the USB installer to install High Sierra ... What happens if we don't have access to TransMac or Paragon Hard Disk Manager? Not a problem, as long as we get "OS X Base System" bootable, we can launch terminal from the Utilities Menu to copy the SharedSupport folder over to the Installer app. In essence, we will build the full installer app = 5GB+ on the target HD eg "Macintosh HD", by copying both the "small" installer app = 15MB (on "OS X Base System") and the SharedSupport folder from the NTFS volume (mounted in this example on /Volumes/DATA)... -bash-3.2# cd / -bash-3.2# cp -R Install\ macOS\ High\ Sierra.app /Volumes/Macintosh\ HD/ -bash-3.2# cp -R /Volumes/DATA/SharedSupport /Volumes/Macintosh\ HD/Install\ macOS\ High\ Sierra.app/Contents/ ...then start installation with the startosinstall utility... -bash-3.2# /Volumes/Macintosh\ HD/Install\ macOS\ High\ Sierra.app/Contents/Resources/startosinstall --volume /Volumes/Macintosh\ HD --converttoapfs NO --applicationpath /Volumes/Macintosh\ HD/Install\ macOS\ High\ Sierra.app The above steps can be automated with the attached "startosinstall.command" script, which will assemble "Install macOS High Sierra.app" on "Macintosh HD" and launch the startosinstall utility targeting the "Macintosh HD" volume. Copy/download to "Macintosh HD", then run in terminal (after attaching DATA USB with /Shared Support folder)... cd "/Volumes/Macintosh HD" chmod +x startosinstall.command ./startosinstall.command Updated Download Links for macOS Mojave 10.14.6_18G87 Browse Apple's Regular Software Catalog and find the URLs to download the following 6 installer files... BaseSystem.dmg BaseSystem.chunklist InstallInfo.plist InstallESDDmg.pkg AppleDiagnostics.dmg AppleDiagnostics.chunklist Note: In Mojave, Apple has removed the --converttoapfs NO and --applicationpath arguments from the startosinstall utility.... eg to use startosinstall for the above section "What happens if we don't have access to TransMac or Paragon Hard Disk Manager?", the syntax is now -bash-3.2# /Volumes/Macintosh\ HD/Install\ macOS\ Mojave.app/Contents/Resources/startosinstall --volume /Volumes/Macintosh\ HD This basically means that for Mojave, the default installation will always convert the target volume to the apfs file system. startosinstall.command.zip InstallInfo.plist_edited_10.13.6.zip InstallInfo.plist_edited_10.14.6.zip

  5. Hi team, I'm looking for the best route to achieve this upgrade, so I have been stuck with HS since Nvidia drivers stopped being supported on newer MacOS releases. Now I'm having an AMD 5700 xt on the way and want to plan the upgrade properly. I have added some information below and questions that might help with your recommendation. Current GPU 1080 ti with Nvidia webdrivers installed. So should I uninstall the webdriver before adding the new GPU? Clover is being used and EFI attached. Any kext must be removed? or parameters adjusted MacOS HS 10.13.6, should I upgrade before using the new GPU? CPU: 9900K Motherboard:ROG MAXIMUS XI HERO (WI-FI) Dual Monitors I have a Time machine backup, Do you recommend a fresh install? and If I did, will I be able to restore my data/apps as-is? Please let yourself free to explore further aspects to considers. EFI-20200204.zip
  6. BEFORE TRYING THIS, DO THE OBVIOUS SOLUTION! REPLACE YOUR OPTIOFIX EFI FILE WITH VERSION 2, OR WITH VERSION 1. ONLY PROCEED IF DOING THIS DOES NOT WORK. Alright, so my first attempt at helping people that isn’t in a private discord. Hope this goes well. No one has posted this as a direct solution to someone asking for help with this error, so I thought I’d be the one to share it.

I encountered this problem when I rebooted after making some minor changes and discovered I couldn’t boot back into the disk. All over the web, people keep suggesting clover-side tweaks and replacing kexts, and while they may solve the problem for some, absolutely nothing was working for me (and a few others), even when booting with no kernel cache at all. No boot flags worked, no .efi files would solve it.

Holding spacebar in clover, no change. So, the solution ended up being system side, and not clover related. You needed to delete your prelinked kernel from the HDD and rebuild it.

To do this, you just have to be able to get to your recovery drive or use an install USB that’ll give you access to the disk. Clover got me into my recovery drive just fine, another hint that it wasn’t related to clover - but regardless, whatever works for you. After you’re in a terminal, type the following commands.

Df -h This will list all of your volumes, make sure you’re targeting your installation drive.

If your volume has a space in the name, such as "Mac OS HS", you'll need to format it as such: "Mac\ OS\ HS" - This is simply how the command line associates spaces. touch /Volumes/[NAME HERE]/System/Library/Extensions && kextcache -u /Volumes/[NAME HERE]

In my case, I replaced [NAME HERE] with my installation drive - "macOS\ 10.13". Chances are, this command will give you the error "Child process [directory] has exited due to signal 10" The line immediately after that will give you another bit of extremely important information that you need to take note of. "Error 107 rebuilding /System/Library/PrelinkedKernels/prelinkedkernel" That directory is what we're going to be targeting to fix our system. So, time to nuke it. rm -rf [location to /prelinkedkernel/prelinkedkernel] MAKE SURE YOU DOUBLE CHECK IT IS EXACTLY WHAT WAS OUTPUT WHEN YOU TRIED THE COMMAND ABOVE.

IMPORTANT: YOU MAY RECEIVE A READ ONLY ERROR! DO NOT PANIC. I've done this on multiple machines and it really is hit or miss whether or not this will appear. Regardless, the solution is simple. The following code tag only applies to if you encounter this issue. Fsck mount -uw / RE-ENTER THE FOLLOWING COMMAND! You need a more specific location now. rm -rf /Volumes/[NAME]/System/Library/PrelinkedKernels/prelinkedkernel touch /Volumes/[NAME]/System/Library/Extensions && kextcache -u /Volumes/[Name] Now you should be receiving "/Volumes/[NAME] locked; waiting for lock." This is a good thing. Wait a few seconds, you'll receive "Lock acquired; proceeding." After that, you'll be back at -bash-3.2#, and it will appear as if nothing happened. Again, this is expected. For people who didn't have to use the Fsck command, simply type the following and receive the usual "Waiting for lock; Lock received" response. touch /Volumes/[NAMEHERE]/System/Library/Extensions && kextcache -u /Volumes/[NAME HERE] Now, use your up arrow on the keyboard to re-enter this command. If nothing happens, you're golden. If it detects kexts with invalid signatures, that's still okay - but for future reference, don't go the ##### approach/philosophy of installing kexts to your system drive. Take this as a warning. Go ahead and reboot, and start your installation just like normal. You'll now get past the 0x1 error. Congratulations! If you get hung up anywhere, go back to clover and add “-f” to the boot flags, then boot again. You should make it back to your desktop with no damage whatsoever.

Like nothing ever happened! Now, as for what causes this, I honestly have no idea. All I know is when you have a working system, make some kind of modication/tweak/installation that HS doesn't agree with, you can possibly get this error on some systems. It's rare, but exists, and unfortunately this is the only way I've been able to get past it. It's not too much work, so don't be too intimidated. You'll have your system back in no time. If you'd like some personalized 1-on-1 support, read my signature and contact me that way. I'm more than happy to help, or at the very least take some time out of my day to analyze your issue and give my thoughts. Thanks for reading my first guide, I'm hoping to publish some more fixes to make High Sierra as painless as possible for every user.

    [SOLVED] Mobile HD4600 Glitches

Hi, I'm having annoying graphical artifacts / glitches with the following configuration on apps like Firefox. The screen flickers when scrolling. Everything else is working properly. (Brightness, graphical acceleration, battery, etc) Configuration: - Thinkpad T440P - Intel Core I7 Haswell 4712MQ + Intel HD4600, (no Nvidia) - 16GB RAM, - 500GB SSD Western Digital, - MacOS 10.13.6 (but affects also 10.13.1 before update), - FHD LG IPS 14" Panel 1920x1080. I'm using the attached config.plist with patched framebuffer using Intel FB Patcher. I initially followed the T440P guide on TonyMacOSx86, but it looks somehow outdated since it doesn't use Whatevergreen and other old kexts (as well as kext framebuffer patching). I'm using the following kexts in Clover/Other: - Lilu, - Whatevergreen, - FakeSMC, - IntelMausiEthernet, - USBInjectAll, - VoodooPS2Controller (from tluck T460 topic to support trackpad), - ACPIBatteryManager. ACPI is patched using SSDT-T440P.aml provided by tonymacosx86 topic on T440P: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/guide-lenovo-thinkpad-t440p.233282/ Attached IOReg Dump, config.plist and screenshot of kexts used. 10. Hi! Could anyone help me installing High Sierra on this system? I succesfully installed Sierra before on this system with help of Jake Lo (thanks!!), I just wondering if could High sierra possible to installed on this system? Boot stopped at this. I'll attach my Clover folder and a picture from boot. UEFI enabled, and for skylake I used IntelGraphicsDVMTfixup and IntelGraphicsFixup kexts. My bios is very limited and does not have any option to change dvmt prealloc or anything else. Everything works fine on Sierra. Here is my system: THIS TOPIC IS OUTDATED AND WILL NO LONGER UPDATED. PLEASE GO TO THIS LINK FOR GUIDE & UPDATED FILES: https://osxlatitude.com/forums/topic/11355-acer-aspire-v-15-v5-591g-catalina-windows-10/ Acer Aspire V15 V5-591G-55TU (Note: Bootpack works fine with another versions of 591G, for example: V5-591G-71K2, -764Z, -59PU, etc.) Mobo: Skylake USOPP_SLS Bios: Insyde corp latest version CPU: Intel Core i5-6300HQ 2.30 GHz (Skylake) GPU: Geforce GTX 950M 2 GB (optimus, disabled), Intel HD 530 Ram: 8 GB DDR4 (4+4 GB) Wifi: Qualcomm Atheros QCNFA344A, Replaced to BCM94352Z Ethernet: Realtek 8168B/8111B Audio: ALC 255 (layout-3 fix) Card Reader: Realtek HDD: 1 TB Dual-boot with Windows 10 Any help appreciated! Please add these 2 patches to ACPI\DSDT\Patches in your config.plist in order to avoid not responding applications after sleep: (added in "v5_591g_55tu_updated_CLOVER.zip") HECI to IMEI 48454349 494d4549 EC0 to EC 4543305f 45435f5f Before updating to a new version of High Sierra please update kexts to new versions to avoid kernel panics Note: No need for "IntelGraphicsDVMTFixup.kext" so you should delete it. Not working: Original Wi-Fi: Qualcomm Atheros QCNFA344A unsupported, you need switch to BCM94352Z or just use a mini usb wifi dongle. NVIDIA GTX 950M: Optimus not supported. Card Reader: Unsupported For WiFi: You can choose an external USB wifi dongle (I used tp-link Archer T1U (5GHz support), Tp-link have official macOS drivers, you just need to install it (OR)Replace your M.2 Qualcomm Card with a compatible BCM94352Z card (you will have hand-off Bluetooth too), just install the kext I wrote above I'll attach my EFI folder for anyone who want to install High Sierra (acer_aspire_v5_591g_55tu_hs.zip). *REUPLOADED updated CLOVER folder, attached as "v5_591g_55tu_updated_CLOVER.zip" (uploaded to OSXLatitude forum, can't upload here). I'm using High Sierra in Dual-boot with Windows 8.1. To do this in a clean install or with Windows installed first try my little minimal guide: Dual-boot clean install (on one drive): 1. Boot into your Mac installer, Create 2 partitions in GUID table (1 for Win (I used FAT32 but I think it's no matter what), 1 for Mac), 2. Install Mac, boot with your USB, *mount your EFI partition (use terminal or an EFI mounter app), create an EFI folder, copy the CLOVER folder I attached to the EFI folder, restart, 3. Boot into your Win installer, Format the partition you created for Win, install. 4. Now, it's automatically booting into Windows. To use Clover open cmd in administrator, type: bcdedit /set {bootmgr} path \EFI\CLOVER\CLOVERX64.efi 5. You're done! It will booting into Clover when you start the system, and you can select Win or Mac (or another OS if installed on a 3rd partition). Dual-boot with Windows installed first (on one drive): If you already have Windows and you don't want to lose all your data there is a hope: You need bootable Mac Installer and a full system restore image (you can search for it). (You may see errors if your EFI partition is not 200 MB) 1. Boot into your Windows, resize your partition or create one for Mac. 2. Boot into your Mac installer and in Disk Utility format the partition you created. 3. Restore from image: select your full system restore image. 4. When it's finished restoring you just need to restart, then boot to the system with your usb. 5. Do Step 2. from "*" from clean install dual-boot above. but KEEP "Microsoft" FOLDER IN IT! 6. Do Step 4. from clean install dual-boot above. 7. You're done! You can select your old Windows and your new macOS! (I only tried with Windows 8/8.1/10. I don't know Windows 7,etc.) IF YOU GETTING ERRORS DURING MAC RESTORE: Make sure you have partitions in GPT The best version for restore method is Windows 8.1. It's using 200 MB EFI. Windows 10 using 100 MB EFI and will annoy the Mac restore. You can use with Windows 10, just ignore the errors IF YOU GETTING ERRORS DURING WINDOWS INSTALLATION (could not be formatted, etc): Make sure you have GPT partitions, and GPT installer IF YOU USED RESTORE METHOD THEN CAN'T MOUNT YOUR EFI PARTITION (No EFI partition found) It's because your EFI is not 200 MB or not an "Apple" original EFI, but do not worry, try another EFI mounter, or mount from terminal (I used EFI mounter v3: Getting errors, but you can mount and use without problem) You also could "mount" the EFI from windows, for that open cmd and type: diskpart list vol (Now select the "System" volume,(FAT 32) For example I select 4) sel vol 4 list part (Select System type partition, for example 2) sel part 2 assign letter=b (This will "mount" your EFI partition, to manage files download totalcmd or explorer++ (run as admin)) remove letter=b (This will "unmount" your EFI) Here is a video from dual-boot with Windows installed first (on one drive): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_Q8uPkwcWQ Here some pictures:

Audio too. - VGA -> Not work. - Audio -> Work. - WiFi -> Not work. Need to be replaced. - Ethernet-> Work. - Keyboard and touchpad -> Work. - FN keyboards keys -> Work. - Brightness control -> Work. - Touchscreen -> Work. - Sleep -> Work. - Battery -> Work. - Card Reader -> Not tested yet. (TODO) - Integrated Camera -> Work. - Bluetooth -> Not work. - 2nd stage boot logo -> Not work. What you need to install - Running install of macOS on VMware -> Downloaded version 10.13 via torrent (search by "10.13 vmware" torrent). You can use a real Mac of an friend. My method only tested on Mavericks (10.9) and above. - One USB flash drive of 8GB or bigger. - macOS High Sierra install app -> Downloaded via App Store inside the virtual machine. Downloaded version 10.13.2. - CloverEFI -> Also download inside the virtual machine. I used build 4334. - DSDT patch skills -> Needed to battery works. How to patch DSDT. Or you can download mine DSDT below, but would not recommend. How create the install disk Prepare flash drive: Format the disk with GUID partition mapping and name it "Install". - Open Disk Utility. - Click in View, then "Show All Devices". - Select the destination flash drive, then Erase. - Name: Install, Format: Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and Scheme: GUID Partition Map If the Erase popup in Disk Utility don't work. Close it and run this in terminal: diskutil eraseDisk JHFS+ Install /dev/diskX X is the number of the destination disk. Use "diskutil list" to discover. Create install files in flash drive: Open terminal and run this command: sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ High\ Sierra.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Install --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ macOS\ High\ Sierra.app --nointeraction This will take about 30 minutes. Install bootloader: You need to format the EFI partition of the install flash drive to FAT32: sudo newfs_msdos -v EFI /dev/diskXs1 X is the number of the disk. Use "diskutil list" to discover. Download the CloverEFI (used 4334) and install with this options on "Install macOS High Sierra": Options: - Install for UEFI booting only - Install Clover in the ESP - Drivers64UEFI - CsmVideoDxe-64 - Drivers64UEFI - OsxAptioFixDrv-64 Adjust the config.plist genereated: Will be created a partition named EFI. Edit the /EFI/CLOVER/config.plist inside this new partition and change those values: - Alter value: GUI - ScreenResolution to 1366x768 - Rename key: Graphics - #Inject -> Inject - Alter value: Graphics - Inject - ATI - FALSE - Alter value: Graphics - Inject - Intel - TRUE - Rename key: Graphics - #ig-platform-id -> ig-platform-id - Alter value: Graphics - ig-platform-id to 0x01660003 - Alter value: KernelAndKextPatches - AppleIntelCPUPM to TRUE - Rename key: #KextsToPatch -> KextsToPatch - Remove all <dict>...</dict> in <array> inside KextsToPatch - Add <dict/> bellow in <array> inside KextsToPatch: <dict> <key>Comment</key> <string>HD 4000 brightness fix</string> <key>Disabled</key> <false/> <key>Find</key> <data> EAcAABAHAAA= </data> <key>Name</key> <string>AppleIntelFramebufferCapri</string> <key>Replace</key> <data> EhMAABITAAA= </data> </dict> P.s.: I will provide below my config.plist as attachment. Add essentials Kexts: Download those Kexts and put in /EFI/CLOVER/kexts/10.13/ - Download the Smart Touchpad kext from here. I used the version 4.7 beta 5. - Download the HWSensors dmg and use the FakeSMC.kext from inside. I used the version 6.26.1440. This is very important. Can't boot without it. Put the Clover installer on the flash drive too. Now you can start the instalation without problem (I guess). BIOS Setup Configuration and Installation Bios configuration: - Shutdown the ultrabook and insert the flash drive on the left side on upper port (on the side Keystone hole). - Power on with F2 pressed to enter BIOS setup. - Go to "Save & Exit" and press "Restore Defaults". - Go to "Advanced" tab and change VT-d to Disabled. - Go to "Save & Exit" again and select "Save Changes and Exit". - When ASUS logo appear, press and hold ESC to enter Boot Menu. - Select the flash drive named with UEFI prefix. In my case "UEFI: KingstonDataTraveler 2.0PMAP". - The clover menu will show. Use the arrow keys to mark the flash drive. The option name is "Boot OS X Install from Install macOS High Sierra", then press Enter. - If you did everything correctly, you will see the installation screen. BUG Note: I delete all entries from the list. With that, I could not add anything else. It just didn't work. I had to put some USB device so the list is not empty, so I can add a new entry. Strange thing... Format destination disk: Format the disk with GUID partition mapping and name it "HD". - Select Disk Utility in the list, then press Continue. - Click in View, then "Show All Devices". - Select the destination Disk, then Erase. - Name: HD, Format: Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and Scheme: GUID Partition Map If the Erase popup in Disk Utility don't work. Close it and run this in terminal: diskutil eraseDisk JHFS+ HD /dev/diskX X is the number of the destination disk. Use "diskutil list" to discover. Close Disk Utility. If the destination is SSD: Start installation without APFS conversion: Open Terminal and run: /Volumes/Image\ Volume/Install\ macOS\ High\ Sierra.app/Contents/Resources/startosinstall --volume /Volumes/HD --converttoapfs NO --agreetolicense This will take about 20 minutes. If the destination is HDD: Start installation normally: Select "Install macOS", then Continue. Follow instructions in screen. After install: After first part install the system will reboot. In Clover main menu, press enter in "Boot macOS Install from Install macOS High Sierra" once again The second part of the installation will begin. This will take 16 minutes. Post installation Install bootloader: When the second part of install finish, the system will reboot again. After performing the user initial setup and go to the desktop, you need to install Clover on internal disk. Open the Clover installer inside flash drive that you copied before. Use same options above but choose the system partition this time. Now you need to replace the EFI folder inside your internal disk EFI parittion with EFI folder inside flash card EFI partition. The flash drive EFI partition is unmounted. Mount with "diskutil mount /dev/rdiskXs1". To know what X is, use "diskutil list", most likely is 1. Add Clover entry to UEFI: Now remove flash drive and restart the system. With F2 pressed to enter UEFI BIOS. - Go to "Boot" and press "Add New Boot Option". - Select "Add boot option", write CLOVER and press Enter. - In "Select Filesystem", choose the option that contains "HD". Like "PCI(1F|2)\DevicePath(Type 3, SubType 12)HD(Part1,Sig2a0127c1-ea5d-44d3-8967-57e59c1f0e3b)". - Select "Path for boot option", write EFI\BOOT\BOOTX64.efi and press Enter. - Select "Create" and press enter. - Go to "Save & Exit" and select "Save Changes and Exit". Others Kexts: I strongly recommend always use newest versions. If you are too lazy, I attach on end of the post. Ethernet: AtherosE2200Ethernet 2.2.2 Sound: VoodooHDA 2.9.0d10 (.kext only) You need to select the output there in System Preferences after reboot. Battery: ACPIBatteryManager by RehabMan (version 2017-1001). You need to path DSDT (below). Integrated Camera: AnyiSightCam USB 3.0 + Touchscreen: Attached USBs.kext below All kexts will placed inside /EFI/CLOVER/kexts/10.13/, mount again this partition (diskutil mount rdiskXs1) for it. Fine Adjustiment Enable FN keys Open "ApplePS2SmartTouchPad.kext/Contents/Plugins/ApplePS2Keyboard.kext/Contents/Info.plist": - Alter value: Fn keys Layout to ASUS - Alter value: Fn keys Mode to 3 - Alter value: Preferences - Swap alt and windows key to false Sleep work, but Hibernate not. 13. I recently installed High Sierra on my Ryzen system, just to find out how crappy the USB situation really is on AMD systems. The only choice is basically most of your ports flat out not working or GenericUSBXHCI crashing every time you pull out a thumbdrive. So after some trial and error here are my findings. The USB ports controlled by the XHCI controller on the SoC worked fine, but the ones attached to the chipset XHCI controller didn't. That's when I looked at the log and saw these lines: PTXH@00000000: AppleUSBXHCIPCI::createPorts: port 1 unsupported protocol USB 03.10 PTXH@00000000: AppleUSBXHCIPCI::createPorts: failed to allocate port 1 It turns out that for some reason the AppleXHCIPCI driver doesn't support the first two ports on the B350 chipset (made by ASMedia) USB controller. And after the driver fails to allocate port 1 it just stops and doesn't even look at the rest of the ports. So I first tried commenting out the first two ports from the DSDT and that worked and made all the other ports show app in the IOService tree. Than I quickly tested all the USB ports and it turns out that the 2 problematic ports aren't even wired to anything. But instead of editing the DSDT I wanted a cleaner solution, because I don't want to re-edit my DSDT every time I update the BIOS or change some BIOS settings. So here is my small SSDT that disables the stock PTXH device and adds a new device XHCI, that has all the ports needed for my board (ASUS PRIME B350-PLUS). DefinitionBlock ("SSDT-PRIME-B350-PLUS.aml", "SSDT", 1, "APPLE", "tinySSDT", 0x00000006) { External (\_SB_.PCI0.GPP2, DeviceObj) External (\_SB_.PCI0.GPP2.PTXH, DeviceObj) Scope (\_SB_.PCI0.GPP2.PTXH) { Name (_STA, Zero) } Scope (\_SB_.PCI0.GPP2) { Device (XHCI) { Name (_ADR, Zero) Device (RHUB) { Name (_ADR, Zero) // USB3.1 back panel Device (PRT1) { Name (_ADR, 0x5) Name (_UPC, Package (0x04) { 0xFF, 0x03, Zero, Zero }) } Device (PRT2) { Name (_ADR, 0x6) Name (_UPC, Package (0x04) { 0xFF, 0x03, Zero, Zero }) } // USB3.0 front panel Device (PRT3) { Name (_ADR, 0x7) Name (_UPC, Package (0x04) { 0xFF, 0x03, Zero, Zero }) } Device (PRT4) { Name (_ADR, 0x8) Name (_UPC, Package (0x04) { 0xFF, 0x03, Zero, Zero }) } // USB2.0 Device (PRT5) { Name (_ADR, 0x9) Name (_UPC, Package (0x04) { 0xFF, Zero, Zero, Zero }) } Device (PRT6) { Name (_ADR, 0xa) Name (_UPC, Package (0x04) { 0xFF, Zero, Zero, Zero }) } Device (PRT7) { Name (_ADR, 0xb) Name (_UPC, Package (0x04) { 0xFF, Zero, Zero, Zero }) } Device (PRT8) { Name (_ADR, 0xc) Name (_UPC, Package (0x04) { 0xFF, Zero, Zero, Zero }) } Device (PRT9) { Name (_ADR, 0xd) Name (_UPC, Package (0x04) { 0xFF, Zero, Zero, Zero }) } Device (PRTA) { Name (_ADR, 0xe) Name (_UPC, Package (0x04) { 0xFF, Zero, Zero, Zero }) } } } } } Please note that this is just an example and it most likely needs to be changed for your board.

Patched OSInstaller.framework to allow macOS 10.13 installation on MBR partition. To use those patched files you must follow HowTo to create an USB installer. You can't just run the app downloaded from Mac App Store. The patch is made base on 落下爱@pcbeta 10.10.x MBR patch method, and more patch for 10.13 Firmware check by crazybirdy. What is this patched OSInstaller doing? 1. Patch the MBR check, allow macOS 10.13 installation on MBR partition. 2. Patch the Firmware check, bypass the error of "An error occurred while verifying firmware". 3. This patched MBR OSInstaller method works with both MBR and GPT partition (GPT+recovery). No longer need to set new SMbiosversion, FirmwareFeatures, and FirmwareFeaturesMask with this MBR-patch. What's the difference between createinstallmedia method, MBR-Manual-Method, and MBR-Automatic-Method? As the following.... 1. createinstallmedia method, needs stage 1, stage 2 installation process, which is worked with GUID partition only. 2. MBR-Manual-Method (same as 10.12), install via stage 2 manually, which is worked with both MBR and GUID, HFS+ and APFS. We can manually format as MBR or GPT, HFS+ or APFS on installation screen like as 10.12. We can manually select MBR HFS+ partition to install 10.13 and 10.14 on installation screen now. Needn't to update the MBR-Manual-Method files, it will still work on 10.13, and 10.14 future versions, I think so. It can be installed as Fresh installation on formated blank partition only, but can't be installed as update from previous version. 3. MBR-Automatic-Method (new for 10.13+), install via stage 2 automatically, which is worked with both MBR and GUID, HFS+ and APFS. It can be installed as Fresh installation on formated blank partition, and can be installed as update from previous version. How to make 10.13 installer for MBR (MBR-Manual-Method)? Just use EasyMBR-InstallerMaker to make installer, it works with both MBR and GPT. Read HowTo inside the dmg first, same as 10.12. Read HowTo Q/A Q6. How to download the full installer app via swscan.apple.com, instead of App Store? Read HowTo Q/A Q7. How to update 10.13.x combo-update to MBR and GPT with installScript directly? How to make 10.13 installer for MBR (MBR-Automatic-Method)? Just use 13MBRinstallerMaker to make installer, it works with both MBR and GPT. Read HowTo inside the dmg first, new for 10.13+. Read HowTo Q/A Q6. How to download the full installer app via swscan.apple.com, instead of App Store? Read HowTo Q/A Q7. How to update 10.13.x combo-update to MBR and GPT with installScript directly? And, need a SMBIOS supported with /System/Library/CoreServices/PlatformSupport.plist.
  15. Hi guys, My current build is working flawlessly under High Sierra except for one thing : my Roccat Kone EMP mouse won't work after waking up from sleep. I have to disconnect/reconnect it to get it to work again. Other mice (less sophisticated) do work upon wake. However , the Roccat mouse doesn't have any issue under Windows 10 or on an iMac running SL 10.6.3 . I wish I could try under Sierra ... 17. Hi all guys I need your help and I hope you can help me I took the road to install High Sierra on my new build and now I have some doubt / difficulty I do not know how to solve. My configuration: 8700K Asrock Z370 Professional Gaming i7 AMD RX580 Nitro+ 8GB First I created the usb pendrive and I used Clover with the following configurations: Bootflag: dart=0 -v Kext: Bios Setting: VT-d = Disabled Share Memory = 128MB IGPU Multi-Monitor = Enabled XHCI Hand-off = Enabled SMBIOS: iMac18,3 So far no problem, it started successfully, I initialized the hdd in APFS and I ran the installation. Once finished, it started and I made the first configuration successfully. At this point I configured Clover the same way as the installation: Bootflag: dart=0 disablegfxfirmware shikigva=4 -rad4200 darkwake=8 Devices: Graphics: Kernel and Kext Patches: SMBIOS: iMac18,3 Kext: I reboot and start without problems, but I know there is some problem to solve ... for example, the video card seems to recognize it but if I run a benchmark with "Novabench" I noticed that the GPU is recognized as 1GB: With "WhateverGreen.kext" and "RadeonDeInit=Disabled": || || || I tried to delete "WhateverGreen.kext" and "RadeonDeInit=Enabled" and I recognize the card differently but the same problem presents itself: || || || Why is it recognized by 1GB instead of 8GB? While on System Profiler is recognized by 8GB .... I'm doing something wrong? I tried to enable also "Hardware Encoding & HEVC Support" but I noticed a detail that I do not know if it's right or not (Hardware Info "MacX Video Converter Pro"): Without "WhateverGreen.kext" and "RadeonDeInit=Enabled": With "WhateverGreen.kext" and "RadeonDeInit=Disabled": [COMING SOON SCREENSHOT] Is it normal that this occurs? Which one is correct? I'm going completely in confusion I'm trying to figure out if I need to make any other changes to the system, if I add some other patches to make it work properly but I do not know where to check. I'm trying to configure the DSDT but DSDT Editor and MaciASL do not work, they do not open the DSDT.aml file generated by AIDA64. Do you know how to give me a hand? I'm banging my head for 2 days I thank you in advance for the help and I apologize for my english I hope I was clear
  18. I have what's been said to be a natively supported wifi card, but for the life of me I cannot get it working properly with High Sierra. It is detected in DPCIManager but the wifi symbol at the top is hollowed and I can't turn it on. Here's some basic info about my hackintosh. It's running an i7 9700k with an MSI Z390-A PRO, a GTX 1070, and it's SMBIOS is running as an iMac 18.1 Someone else has posted here about this with an ac66, which I think is very similar and uses the same device number 43A0. But he didn't get his problem solved in the end. And I have looked up this problem in a million different ways, I haven't found a solution that works from any yet. I've tried a large amount of different kext patches, kexts (fakepciid, airportbrcmfixup, etc), changing fake ID, modifying kext info.plist files, and every combination of those, none have gotten it to properly work. I have gotten it to work in one way but it's so unstable that it's unusable. Using the IO80211family.kext from yosemite works, but then it will randomly freeze about 10-15 minutes in, and then it'll not boot 9/10 times, and when it will it'll freeze on the login or right after. It gives errors about out of date kext, only way get back in is by reinstalling. So I figure this method is unusable. I'm just stumped on why a supposed confirmed working out of box card doesn't just just work, even with every amount of tweaking and adding kexts. I'm in my 4th day of almost nonstop testing and researching on how to fix this, and I'm too stubborn and determined to just buy a different card. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

High Sierra 10.13.6 Asus Maximus Hero VIII RX 480 Nitrous + 8GB Trident Z 16GB DDR4 3200MHZ
