  2. Hello. My AMD Radeon HD 6870 graphics card just died today. I'm currently running Mac OS X 10.7.4 on an Asus P8P67 Pro motherboard. I'm now debating whether I should replace my card with another one of the same model and keep my system as is, or if I should just update my OS X to Mavericks and upgrade my graphics card along with it. I'm having a really hard time deciding because I can't find a list of Mavericks' natively supported graphics cards. I'm confused as to whether all AMD 7000 series cards are supported, or if I should consider an NVIDIA card for Mavericks. I'm a total noob and I would prefer to avoid messing with kexts and such, so if I decide to upgrade to Mavericks, I would like a graphics card that's natively supported. If I do upgrade, I would do so using Andy's method (found here). Can you guys help me decide for a good graphics card for Mavericks? I do a lot of video and photo editing, so I would like a robust card. However, I'm kind of in tight budget since I did spend some money over the holidays. Any Input would really be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  3. for use with the Apple 27" LED Cinema Display (A1316 MC007LL/A) 2560 x 1440 which only has ONE cable with a mini DisplayPort plug, in now Mountain Lion and later Mavericks. $250 for Apple's ATI Radeon HD 5770 Graphics Upgrade Kit for Mac Pro MC742ZMA is too much for me. Usage: heavy Adobe graphics/ video mix (Photoshop/ InDesign/ Illustrator/ Premiere/ Dreamweaver), all open at the same time .. Final Cut Pro will follow later. Apart from that, here's what the card also needs to be able to deliver in 10.8.5 (and best 10.9): dual-monitor: connect a 2nd one via DVI or HDMI live resolution switching on both monitors w/o black or blue screens fully working wake from monitor sleep AND wake from MacOS sleep on BOTH monitors w/o black or blue screens cooling fan(s) not too loud if possible Sharing of best your personal experience or otherwise links or pointers would be very welcomed Thank you, Bugs
  4. Hi Everyone, I'm finally coming back to OSX86. I've endured Windows 7's bugs and shortcomings for too long and I beleive OSX is the way forward for me. But I still want to enjoy my windows games at near native performance without having to dual boot. So I'm rebuilding my rig with this new spec: i5 3570 3.4Ghz (Not the K version, so Vt-d is available) Gigabyte GA-Z77-DS3H (I checked is fully working with 10.8.2) 12gb RAM Vertex 4 120gb for OSX install, HDDs for VMs. So I gather the Intel HD 4000 should be working well enough for the standard OSX experience, I won't need it for anything too graphics intensive. I've just been looking at graphics cards for PC gaming and want to get the Radeon HD 7770. I know that card isn't currently supported in Mountain Lion but that shouldn't be a problem for Vt-d. I could go for the 6870 with higher power requirements and compatibility with OSX if needed, but it wouldn't be ideal. A side question - how likely is it looking that the 7770 will be supported in the future? I've read some conflicting past speculation. I plan on trying both Parallels and Vmware for my Windows 7 VMs. Does anyone here have experience in assigning a graphics card to a VM for near native 3D gaming? I read on TomsHardware someone got this working very well on Linux (I will link if you'd like to see). If I'm not mistaken it doesn't matter whether the graphics card is compatible with the host OS or not, the Vt-d will assign the IO direct to the VM. Am I also correct in assuming no monitor needs to be attached to the graphics card directly? Thanks for your expert advice! I can't wait to get started. Alex
  5. Please help me. I want to enable geforce 610m optimus. My laptop is samsung NP300 E5x S01IN. I can boot into it but there is no graphics support.
  6. I recently acquired a Mac Pro 1,1 and got OS X El Capitan running on it. Only issue I have run into, and could not fix with hours a googling is getting my Sapphire HD 5450 to work. As you can see in the picture it says no kext installed, Just trying to figure out what I am doing wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I an a noobie to Mac(for the most part). I have tried following guides for adding device ID and cannot get it working for me.

    Recommended GPU for SR-2 board?

Hey guys, I am new to the hackintosh world and am looking for some GPU advice. I currently have a EVGA SR-2 board with dual x5680s. I am trying to pair up a decent GPU for the board but am having a little trouble. I own a GTX 970 in another PC that works well for my design applications and the bit of gaming I do. Hoping to make this machine my new main machine so I need the equivalent. The SR-2 board only has PCI Express x16 ports. The EVGA GeForce GTX 750Ti SC 2GB seems to be popular on amazon but only has 2GB of RAM I'm looking for a 4GB card or I can run SLI across multiple cards. Thanks, Kevin
  8. After installing Intel HD3000 on OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.2, My Laptop Toshiba Satellite L840 stuck on "DSMOS Has Arrived", how to fix that?

  10. My specs are: ASRock Z77 Extreme4 Intel Core i5 3570 @ 3400 MHz Intel® HD 2500 Graphics ASUS DRW-24B5ST Western Digital WD10EARS-003BB1 (1000GB) 8192 MB Corsair (2 x 4096 DDR3-SDRAM ) I tried to make HD 2500 work with 10.8.3 but I couldn't. So I need to buy the cheapest separate card as my needs are very basic, I'm not a gamer. Most importantly, I need it to work out of the box without or with minimal adjustments as this is my first time hackintoshing and I don't know most of what I'm doing. I need both DVI and HDMI to work. So, any recommendations for me?
  11. My processor configuration is: 3.19 GHz Intel Core i5 My Ram: 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 Onboard graphics: Display 64 MB of Shared System Memory And my motherboard configuration is: Asus P8B75-M LX Currently I am running Mountain Lion. I need to upgrade to Mavericks 10.9, but having issues with the Graphics card compatibility. I need some advice On which would be the Supported graphics card for my system. I'm an Indian resident. The site to search for would be http://www.flipkart.com/gaming-components/graphic-cards/pr?p%5B%5D=sort%3Dprice_asc&sid=4rr%2Ctin%2C6zn&q=graphics+card I would really appreciate some help. Basically I am looking for cheap(cost wise) graphics card.

  14. When I use 2 screens with FBRotate with a HD7850 Graphics card i get 2 white screens with just the cursor. When I use 1 screen it works but when I plug in the other both go white. 15. I have an ASUS Radeon HD7850 with 2GB of VRAM. I'm on Yosemite 10.10.2, using Clover. Yosemite only reports the GPU as a Radeon HD 7xxx 2048 MB, and I don't think it's being fully accelerated. I've been looking all over but I have no clue what to do. I've used tai-personality.pl, used radeon_bios_decoder, redsock_bios_decoder, and I've set Clover to inject ATI and use the Aji frame buffer. This made my computer screen go black after the boot bar, and sleeping and waking the computer did nothing - same with the Futomaki frame buffer. I downloaded a modded AMD7000Controller kext for an HD7850 and used inject ATI + Aji frame buffer, but when i restarted, my screen was not the right resolution, colors were off, everything was laggy. OS X reported the GPU as an HD 7850, but with only 7mb of VRAM, so obviously that kext was incompatible. What do I do for full acceleration? I've attached my DSDT, my radeon_bios_decoder output, and my redsock_bios_decoder output. EDIT: Turns out I wasn't in sleep mode. When the computer actually went to sleep and I used the Aji profile, and waked up the computer, the screen turned on and Yosemite reported it as an HD7850 2048 MB. So now I just need a solution on how to keep it this way, without having to always restart. Archive.zip

    GPU runs at 100%

hey guys i just got done installing 10.8.2 on my custm pc and everything works after i install drivers and programs but my gpu seems to not be affected after i install the nvidia cuda or the webrelease drivers. i have a pny 9800gtx+ on my desktop and my laptop has the 9800m gs but my laptop works perfectly except the intel 5100 wifi card which will never work. on my laptop i've upgraded to 10.8.3 and before that i had installed the cuda drivers to make it work otherwise it'll get a no signal screen before it gets to the desktop. i tried the same method with my desktop but no matter what i always get the no signal, so im stuck on 10.8.2. the main problem is my gpu runs at 100% all the time and i can hear the noise which dont sound healthy. anyone with the same card or similar have got it working perfectly? ive tried searching "gpu runs at 100%" in search but no results. if anyone got a link to anything please let me know. thanks in advance:P EDIT- its not a gpu problem but a cpu problem. my fan spins at 100% well at least the noise makes it seem like it. and idles around 99%, take a look at the picture below. anyone with the same problem please gimme some tips.

  20. hi there, i am new to the forum but have been lurking for a while... i have a nvidia geforce 8500 gt (512mb) graphics card that i cannot seem to get working fully with mountain lion. ideally i would like to run two monitors, one from the vga port and one from the dvi port using a dvi-hdmi adapter. if i run a dvi cable directly to the monitor it works flawlessly (full resolution with qe/ci enabled) but i get nothing if i use the dvi-hdmi adapter and nothing from the vga port. note: it does work from the vga port and dvi-hdmi adapter when booting, but the screen goes black and i get 'no input' as soon as osx starts. graphicsenabler is set to yes no other graphics kexts have been installed it was a clean install of mountain lion my dsdt is attached system specs are as follows: motherboard: ga-p35-ds3l processor: intel q6600 core2 quad 2.4ghz memory: 4gb ddr2 sdram graphics card: nvidia geforce 8500 gt (512mb) 80gb ide hdd (osx 10.8) any help would be greatly appreciated :-) DSDT.aml.zip
