  1. I've never posted in a forum like this before, but I have total faith in the people on here. There will be UNENDING appreciation for anyone that can help me out at all. So I have a huge issue going on right now. Basically I cannot get my external hard drive working, which is a huge problem seeing as I cannot apply to graduate school for architecture without the documents on there. I would GREATLY appreciate any help. (Note - I'm not hugely knowledgeable about a lot of the backend tech stuff on computers but am a very fast learner and have a VERY solid grip on how to use macs). Here's the story: I have a 1TB WD external hard drive. I gave it a FAT32 partition so I could transfer documents between my MAC and my PC in my architecture studio. The hard drive was working fine for a while and then last week, I noticed that it gave me an error message saying that I could read documents on the hard drive but I would not be able to copy new documents to the hard drive. Then, the next time I plugged the hard drive into my computer, I got an error message telling me that "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer." And I haven't been able to get it to work since. I opened disk utility and the partition's name has changed to disk2s1 from it's original name. Also, disk utility is unable to repair the disk. I downloaded and paid for Stellar Phoenix. It ran for a week and was able to recover some of the files (so I KNOW the files are still there) but I know it didn't even BEGIN to scan the depths of my hard drive because it appeared to freeze at about 5% of the way through the scan (at least I think it was frozen because it was monitoring the same sector for 2 days) and I stopped the scan and recovered some of the files it had detected. These files were recovered to the 2 TB G-Technology hard drive that I have since purchased at the apple store. I then purchased DiskWarrior. DiskWarrior gave me an error message that read: Directory cannot be rebuilt, the file system is unsupported. This disk is not a Macintosh disk. This disk does not appear on the desktop. This disk is 1 TB in size. Disk ID: disk2s1 Sectors: 1,953,458,174 (512 Bytes each) Drive Format: FDisk Partition Scheme File System: MS-DOS/PC Model: WD I cannot for the life of me figure out what this FDisk Partition Scheme means. I used a mac to partition the drive and to prove it, the hard drive was working on the Mac. It's almost as if suddenly, something changed the drive format. After doing extensive searches online, it appears my problem is SIMILAR to this post ->http://forum.voodoop...hp?topic=1593.0 The poster was able to solve the issue, but I don't have the technical understanding to figure out what he did. I attached an image of what the terminal says when I list the drives. If there is ANYONE out there that is willing to help me out, I would truly be endlessly appreciative. This is really an incredibly serious problem for me, and I'm really just ready for this issue to be done with, but I don't want to spend any more money on it, especially if it's something that can be fixed without spending money and I just don't know how to do it.

    Microphone

Hello hackintosh community. There is only one step dividing me from having fully functional hackintosh. The only problem is my external microphone. (In-build microphone doesn't work for quite a while now (it is broken and stopped working over night), so I've managed to find the external one which is working great on Windows.) The problem with Mountain Lion is that i have to speak directly in my mic, almost touching it with my mouth. Even that way I can only hear myself through speakers, but when I open up Skype, microphone doesn't record at all, and I can't hear myself in test call, even if I speak directly to it. My Skype settings are fine, I've triple check it Is there anyone who had some similar problem, and solved this issue? Cheers I'm trying to get this mic working (Feinier FE-269)
  3. Hi, I hope I'm posting this in the right forum. (I'm a noob when it comes to things like this) I'm a bit new when it comes to Hackintosh, but I'm really stumped about this. I recently got Kalyway 10.5.2 to run on my old Asus M6800n notebook as that was the only version of Leopard I could get working. The setup didn't include the right kexts for my graphics card (ATI Mobility Radeon 9600) so I left them uncheck. Rest of the setup went fine, just had to install some missing Network and Sound kexts. When that was all done I edited the com.Boot.Apple.plist so that it wouldn't be stuck in 1024x768, which worked. But now I'm having this problem. The screen that is actuall on the notebook shows everything fine. However, the external Acer VGA monitor I have hooked up to the notebook has it's edges cut off. You can see these in the pictures attached. This is the screen of the Asus M6800n. As you can see every thing is on screen. This is the Acer VGA Monitor. As you can see the top and sides are cut off and not visible. I've looked through many forum posts, done tons of searches and all of the methods I found don't seem to work. One that involves modifying a Callisto kext seemed like it might work, and I would have tried it but it seems that the Callisto website is dead. I'd really like to use this monitor as the hinges on the notebook screen are partially broken. So, in short the apple menu bar and sides of the screen are being cut off on my external monitor but not my notebook's screen. If anyone knows why this is happening or what I can do to fix it please let me know. Thanks
  4. Does the DVI port work for anyone running Snow Leopard or Lion on Dell D630 laptop in a dock? I can use the VGA port just fine but I cannot use the DVI port for another monitor. I have tried both - 10.6.8 as well as 10.7.5. Is there a fix for this?
  5. Hello my configuration is this: Asus P8z77-M 8GB DDR3 (Corsair 1600) Nvidia 560SE 1536MB RAM Seagate 250GB SATA3 (ST3250318AS) I had a problem with USB not working inside installer but i solved it with this: Now remain the other problem with my disks. i have internal sata disk seagate 250GB but it appear as external in disk utility at el capitans installer. i tryed this: but with this, no longer start the installer. it stuck at some point. When i remove this code from config.plist, i can go to installer but again the drive appear as external. I tryed also other disks but all internal drives appear as external. Any solution? Im reffering ofcourse for El Capitan installation
  6. Hi everyone, I got a very odd problem after updating to 10.12.5 and I'll try explaining it to the best I can along all troubleshooting I did... I have a Macbook Pro retina 13" (early 2015) that I've always used with two Samsung external monitors (both are the same model). One of them is connected directly through the HDMI port located on the right side of the Macbook Pro, the other one connected through a thunderbolt-to-HDMI cable. It has always worked until last week when I updated to 10.12.5. After the update, I quickly noticed that my Macbook Pro wouldn’t detect any external display via thunderbolt-to-HDMI. Thus, I started a long process of troubleshooting, and here’s all I’ve tried: Assuming it could have been a defective cable, I’ve tried 3 different ones, still no luck I’ve tried both thunderbolt entry, still no luck I’ve tried thunderbolt-to-VGA, it WORKS, yes, I know this is insane. I’ve tried to connect thunderbolt-to-HDMI (still with all 3 cables) on older Samsung monitors (again two older monitors were the same model, it was my old setup)… it worked Then, I assumed it was the Samsung monitors that were broken (the two of them at the same time…? Odd, isn’t it?). Thus, I tried to connect them on my mac mini, the same way I always did on my Macbook pro… And it works… Then I tried to reproduce the problem on my mom’s Macbook Pro retina 13” (exact same model I have the problem with and same update)... It works Then I assumed the problem must be coming from my Macbook Pro. Thus, I booted on Windows 8 (bootcamp), it works. Starting to lose my mind… I booted from an external hard drive I have (running an early sierra version), it didn’t work either (I had used this external hard drive in the past and it was WORKING) I've done a factory reset, still not working EDIT (forgot to mention): SMC, no luck NVRAM, no luck So in a nutshell, the problem seems to appear only via thunderbolt-to-HDMI, only on this specific Macbook Pro, and specifically on macOS. I’m no expert and I don’t know what else I can do. Of course I've tried contacting Apple many times but they keep blaming me for updating my mac and/or Samsung for making the environment not compatible, which I believe is a total nonsense. Has anyone encounter any similar problem? Does anyone know what it could be? I’m desperate so I’d like to thank y’all in advance for your help. Cheers
  7. I have recently installed the iDeneb 10.5.5 x86 on my laptop. The laptop has a broken LCD screen, and you can only see the top left corner of it, but i figured this would be fine because i have an external monitor hooked up to it. the installation went fine. when i try to boot up the first time, the white screen with the gray apple and loading circle shows up on the external monitor for minute, then the screen turns light blue, then it turns off and switches to the broken LCD. But if i look at the LCD, all i can see is a black pointer because i only have that top left corner. I cant figure out how to get the display back to the external monitor. I have tried options at the boot up such as -x, -v, cpus=1, arch=x86, platform=X86PC...none help or change the outcome. If it helps, the laptop is an Acer Aspire 5315 with 1gb of RAM and 8MB of video memory. I appreciate any help possible and thank anyone who can help in advance -Matt
  8. This project is actually two years old, but despite the aging SATA standard, still current as an idea. And of course - conforming hackintosh different thinking. I invite you to my shop for a short film of the "Do it yourself" series.
