3. I got my system full working right now except Usb3.0 and Wireless. Caldigit kext's in ml beast giving me KP. 4. Maybe this isn't a topic for the New Users Lounge, but the thing is that I am a new user to this matter and I also CAN'T create a new topic in the developer section. So here it goes. I am trying to build a driver for my USB Wireless Card (TP-Link TL-WN722N) which isn't supported in Mac. I also found it very commented around some other websites, mainly asking for a supporting kext, then I made my mind. The 1srt question should be simple: What kind of project should I build in Xcode? One using IOKit framework (user space) or one using Kernel framework (kernel space)? I have been having troubles to get the basics fully working maybe because I am using the wrong start.
5. Edit: Updated to Beta 4 just fine, BTW I love this board! It takes a bit of work to get going, but the GA-Z97MX Gaming 5 is a wonderful board for your own, bulkier version of the iMac. Indeed, I just taped mine to the back of my Cinema Display and I can't see the difference. From the front, at least. It's not perfect, at least not yet. I have issues with kernel panics at boot (related to kernel cache and/or patching—I welcome any thoughts or suggestions). I'm not sure if I can fully utilize Apple's online services. And perhaps most importantly for the novice, Yosemite throws in some instability issues and graphical glitches (I didn't experience them in Mavericks). It's not the easiest or most welcoming build and will require patience. But if you can stomach those things it's a superb choice of quality and features. Let's just hope we get full support and stability when Yosemite is released, and that OS X will see official 9-series chipset support before Apple switches everything to ARM or some craziness. The Specs Haswell Core i5 3.5 Ghz CPU 16 GB Corsair 1866 Mhz RAM GeForce 760 MSI ITX Gaming GPU The Features Z97 chipset (As of writing, not used in any Mac but seems to work like a Z87) ALC1150 audio with swappable op-amp Atheros Killer E2201 (I think) gigabit networking 6 SATA III ports, a SATA Express port and I think an M.2 port as well My UEFI BIOS Settings Load optimized defaults (unless you really know what you're doing) XMP #1 Enabled (enabling my 1866 RAM) All boot options set to UEFI or UEFI Only Optional: Enable ErP, ASPM and other features if desired, but only after you've successfully installed and booted (save yourself the headache ) None of what follows is my original work, so I'll be sure to credit the source and provide relevant links. Preparation Obtain the latest version of Clover, the wonderful UEFI boot loader that makes the rest possible. Follow the directions in any Yosemite guide to prepare a USB drive for installation. Install Clover to that drive, following the "For UEFI Motherboards" instructions. Use my config.plist.zip, or take care creating or modifying your own. Store Mieze's superb AtherosE2200Ethernet.kext, toleda's clever CloverALC script, rampagedev's SSDT and of course FakeSMC.kext from HWSensors on your drive. You'll recall the last from the Yosemite guide, no doubt! Build and boot your machine to UEFI/BIOS, and configure your settings (note mine above). Boot your USB drive to the OS X Installer. Refer to Clover's documentation on fixes and kernel boot options if you're having trouble. Post-Installation Installation should run without issue. I recommend partitioning your drive with Disk Utility first, using GPT. After installation, feel free to reboot. Keeping your installer USB attached should allow you to boot your newly installed OS, but... ... You'll need to install Clover on the system drive, so be sure to do so and remember to include your FakeSMC and netwokring kexts for injection. toleda's script should take care of everything for you regarding audio, except he currently requires a manual patch for this particular CODEC. It isn't hard, and the necessary patch is in my config.plist.zip. And you're done! Or at least you're as far as I am . Enjoy.! Troubleshooting I still get kernel panics that I cannot attribute to any particular source (likely audio—it was a pain to get working in Yosemite for me). Sometimes networking doesn't come up. Don't even ask me about Messages, "Convection" or whatever new Apple services are coming out. No guarantees that this build will be easy or worth your time, but I sure enjoyed getting it running. That said, a few considerations for troubleshooting: I start by trying to Safe Boot (hit spacebar in Clover with proper OS selected). Does that work? If not, where are you getting stuck? Check your kernel boot options and other Clover settings, and make sure your kexts are present and in the appropriate directory on your boot drive. Can't get audio to work? I often have to rebuild the kernel cache then reboot. sudo touch /System/Library/Extensions sudo kextcache -Boot -U / Networking is pretty solid thanks to Mieze's kext. But I do sometimes have issues that a reboot or reloading of the kext seems to resolve. Go figure.
6. So I had my computer set up for iAtkos L2, pretty common specs, Q9550, ASUS P5QL PRO, nVidia GTX275, nothing too fancy to find compatible kexts for. In fact, I have had perfect installations of Leopard (iDeneb 10.5.8), Snow Leopard (using tonymac's method) and Lion (by upgrading from SL, also using tonymac's method) before, in between those periods I deleted the hackintosh partitions and switched back to Windows for a while. Things started complicating when I got bored with Windows again and downloaded iAtkos L2 10.7.2. Installation was perfect, even smoother than all my previous hackintosh experiences, but my ethernet just won't work. Note that on my previous installation of Lion (albeit it being upgraded from SL, everything was working perfectly). I have tried every kext I could find (AtherosL1Ethernet, AttansicL1Ethernet, AttansicL1cEthernet, AttansicL1eEthernet, ... you name it), I tried using MB 4.6, I even reinstalled the whole OS for no reason several times but to no avail. I was wondering if I did the installation of kext wrong? I remember quite clearly when I was messing with SL, ethernet didn't work at first, but as soon I used Kext Helper on this one particular kext (which conviniently I forget where I got it), my ethernet configuration in Network Preferences light up like a Christmas tree and I was enjoying my Internet right after that. No need for reboot or anything. Was I supposed to delete the wrong kext before installing a new one (I did)? Was deleting a wrong kext just by moving it to Trash enough (I did just that)? Excuse me for any newb questions, I appreciate all your help if there is any additional info you might need, please list them and I will try to reply asap.

1001HA Atheros Wi-Fi

Hi I am trying to get the Wi-Fi to work on my 1001HA, 10.6.0. I have the Atheros card, and installed the IO80211.kext, but the wifi doesn't work. In System Profiler i do not see the kext loaded, neither in kextstat. I tried to load the kext using kextload, but I get the following error: bash-3.2# kextload /System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext /System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext failed to load - (libkern/kext) dependency resolution failure; check the system/kernel logs for errors or try kextutil(8). I wanted to chech the kextutil, and I got the following message: bash-3.2# kextutil /System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext /System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext - no compatible dependency found for com.apple.iokit.IONetworkingFamily. /System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext - no compatible dependency found for com.apple.iokit.IONetworkingFamily. /System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext - no compatible dependency found for com.apple.iokit.IONetworkingFamily. /System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext has problems: Warnings: The booter does not recognize symbolic links; confirm these files/directories aren't needed for startup: /System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext/Contents/CodeDirectory /System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext/Contents/CodeRequirements /System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext/Contents/CodeResources /System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext/Contents/CodeSignature Dependency Resolution Failures: Only incompatible kexts found for these libraries: com.apple.iokit.IONetworkingFamily Thanks in advance for any help. 8.
9. Hi again, im having a new issue that i think is causing repetitive kernel panics. The machine: OSX Lion 10.7.4 updated from a clean installation of a iATKOS L2 distro. No additional softw. installed. Intel i7 930 / FCLGA1366 (8M Cache, 2.80 GHz, 4.80 GT/s) Intel® Desktop Board DX58SO AMD (Sapphire) Radeon HD5670 512Mb GDDR5 "Redwood" (using Uakari fb. and GE=Yes w/o any additional kext) This damn TP-Link Card [TPLINK TL-WN751ND PCI Atheros AR9287 168C-002D rev. 01] 3Gb ECC DDR3 Ram in tri-channel config. Two SATA HDD Non raid (one for wind and the tux and the other one just for mac and an exchange partition formatted with FAt32) PS: 600w No temperature issues at the moment, and no power drops. Just in case. Ok here is the deal: When i disable the WIFI card using the icon at the side of the clock, the machine goes perfectly fine. When i enable the Wifi, and try to surf the internet or use anything, OSX hangs after a minute with a KP without output data and no console logs. The last thing in the console is ATHR: Unknown locale: 809c and there is a lot of them, not just one. Im about to explode. Tryed everything in my hands, im some kind of noob in mac, but no in linux and windows. Please, i need help with this one. Just for remember: I THINK THIS MAY BE THE CAUSE of the KPs because im having a lot of them when im connected using this wifi adapter. When im not, everything goes flawless. This means that may be it isn't the cause. Thanks people!
10. So after searching around on & off for 2 days with hardly any results, I thought it would be really convenient to have a list of laptop PCIe half mini cards that would be Lion-compatible. I currently have a thinkpad W520 and looking to swap the one in there (I think it's a realtek). From the looks of this: http://www.notebookreview.com/shared/picture.asp?f=58155 it doesn't look like it would take any other style of card. Any suggestions or successful attempts, please leave em here!
Obrigado.
12. My Dell Inspiron Mini 1012 is running on 10.6.6 and all the devices that were reported to work with this netbook do work...except Wi-Fi . I am at least able to see networks, but after I connect I get the Alert: No Internet Connection Message . I thought it might be just my connection so I tried to connect to another open connection without a wpa2 password (i heard those were iffy) and same thing . My router is giving off an N connection speed I'm sure (I have Fios Internet) . I have an Atheros AR9285 card . dev id 168c x 002b . I've been searching for solutions but I still cannot get this wifi card to be fully functional . I'll note that in system preferences it says Airport Self-Assigned IP and then the yellow ball right beside it. When I manually assign an IP it turns green but then the Airport doesn't seem to like the iP or doesn't accept changes and goes back to it's default IP.
13. Hi Everybody!! After messing around with many linux Distros, i've recently been attracted from the OS X, and wanted to get it working on my notebook. After many tries, following lot of different guides (non3 of them completely working to say the truth), I finally managed to install Lion 1.7.2 on my fresh Acer M3. The point of this Thread is help someone elsa with my hardware to accomplish this goal and, hopefully, get some help to make things works better (well, in some cases, just make them work would be enaugh :wink2:) see signature for complete hardware specs, anyway these are the main characteristics: Acer Mother board model MA50_HX (Bios: Insyde corp v1.08) Core i3-2377M Built-in HD3000 + nVidia Optimus discreete card nVidia GT640M Atheros AR9462 + NetLink BCM57780 Gigabit Ethernet PCIe Standard PS\2 built-in Keyboard + Elan PS\2 Port Smart Pad I've to say that I'm quite good at linux, but completely new to OSX so I'm just starting to understand Kext, smbios and so on... What i've used: 8gb USB stick iAtkos L2 dmg Chimera BootLoader (without this, touchpad isn't recognized during installation) Now that's what I've done: Downloaded iAtkos L2 dmg Installed it on VMWare (just to have a functional OSX for partitioning, restoring images etc), followed that guide that works really stright forward http://ilpico.it/wordpress/?p=2642 (It's in Italian, anyway if someone needs it I can traduce it) From Lion VMWare (or another working Mac OS), mounted the 8gb usb stick Entered Disk Utility, select the USB Stick, in "Partition" tab, selected 2 partition from the dropdown menu (i've used GUID partition table) Selected the first partition and changed size to something like 300-500MB, named it "boot" Selected the second partition and named it "iatkos" Partitioned the usb stick with this partition scheme. mounted iAtkosL2.dmg image in disk utility clicked on the mounted iatkosL2 image, and the in the expanded image Selected restore tab, dragged the expanded iatkosL2 image from the left inside the "source" field, dragged the "iatkos" partition inside the destination field. Proceeded to restore During the restore process, downloaded latest chimera bootloader pkg (i've used Version 1.9.2) When Restore process was complete (about 15-25min), opened the chimera pkg and then doble clicked the installer Proceeded througt the installation and changed the install destination to "boot" partition on my USB Stick When installation finishes, unmount partitions and rebooted At start up, selected the usb stick from boot menu In chimera boot loader, booted the iatkos image with -v GraphicsEnabler=No (otherwise the system tries to use the nVidia Card and cannot boot) Using chimera, when install screen arrives, touch pad was working, so proceeded trought the installation, initialized the partition i've wanted to use (i've used the whole 20GB SSD), selected only PS/2 Kext for making also the kayboard working. Also selected both Atheros driver but didnt' make my wifi card work. After install, booted in arch linux to remove every AppleIntelHD* and AppleIntelSNB* kext, otherwise boot hangs, even with GraphicsEnabler=No rebooted installation processes only for fixing permission trought disk utility Powered off and booted from SSD with GraphicsEnabler=No, this time i was able to reach the mail screen!! entered sytem setting -> chimera bootloader (or maybe it's called chameleon inside the system setting menu', dont remember right now), changed resolution to 1366x768x32, checked the "GraphicsEnabler=No" as boot option That's all, right now didnt apply any extra kext or smbios or dsdt. Now, that's wht's not workig, hoping some one can give me some good tips! - NETWORK: nor Atheros AR9462 nor NetLink BCM57780 Gigabit Ethernet PCIe get detected. Simply no network interface. (En0 not present). Any suggestion here?? I think for the atheros there isnt much we can do, but i think should be possibile to make the ethernet work! - GRAPHICS: Intel HD3000 is recognized as "built in graphics", with only 64MB of memory and no specific Kext used for it. How can I use the intel HD3000 kext and graphicsenabler=yes without having the system tryng to use the nVidia card??? Maybe romoving nVidia Kext and placing back intel HD and Intel SNB??? - INPUT: Keyboard it's ok, touch pad works with basic function (no gesture at all). anyway if I go in system settings -> touchpad, there's no device listed Anyone can suggest some fix for those problems? Should I fix my dsdt (if yes.... HOW??), should I use a smbios different from the stok one inside iAtkos (MacPro3,1)??? Hope this post will be usefull to anyone with this hardware configuration, and hope some good soul will help me fix these issues! Thank you in advance! PES
14. I just updated to 10.7.3 (Build 11D46) and get the following message upon boot: Jan 23 05:31:14 localhost kernel[0]: start [/sourceCache/AirPortDriverAtheros9380/AirPortDriverAtheros9380-430.14.9/src/common/lmac/ath_dev/darwin/AtherosController.cpp:962] load failed I can't access Wi-fi now (no hardware found). Anyone got this message and fixed it? (I've seen it's not a specifc message to this version). I also got a kext error message after installation, I think it was related to not being able to load Apple16X50 IIRC (but I think this shouldn't be related to this error message).
15. Hi, I have an Atheros AR5B195 wifi card that actually works pretty good on Yosemite after a proper DSDT patch. The problem now is that the card can't seem to discover any network when the computer wakes from sleep. I have to restart the computer before the card can discover networks again. I used a DSDT patch to make it work. I have also tried some injectors found here on this forum and OSXLatitude but they did not fix this issue. Can someone please help? Thanks!
16. Hello, I've brought Atheros AR5B95 lately and I tried to configure the wifi to work but with no hope! Ive installed many kexts and with no luck ! so far I got the Card to be shown but when I hit Turn on Wi-Fi nothing happens! tried to remove the card , the configure for the wifi disappeared Guides shown on the internet shows that the wifi will work after installing the required kexts only any help?!
17. i need to know where pin 20 on a wifi card is. Any help will be greatly appreciated. P.S.- I did google it, but i didn't get any solid answers. UPDATE! I FOUND WHERE PIN 20 IS! PICTURE IS BELOW!
18. I saw the TP-Link TL-WDN4800 was supported for OS X so I bought it but couldn't get 5GHz to work (it's my only 5GHz client right now and in an apartment, 5GHz is awesome...for the time being). I checked the console and noticed that the off-channel scans only do 1-13, 36-60. So it misses if your router defaults to one of the higher channels. Any idea why that is? Does the AR93x driver not support those channels (on a real Mac)? Does the scan just have a bug? It's also curious that the scan does 12/13, which aren't supposed to be used in North America. It almost seems like the country configuration is just off: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_WLAN_channels Israel? Singapore? China? Anyone know if there is some locale setting that the wlan driver is getting? I'm interested in diving into this issue a bit more because I'm a developer for some of the WiFi components in Windows and look at similar issues to this every day at work.

23. Hi guys, I have attached my screenshot of my Wifi Whitelist here. I can only these wifi cards. I am currently using CLOVER efi as my boot loader. I was wondering that, lets say, I use one of the cards mentioned in the title of this thread as a replacement to my current intel centrino 1030n, can I get it to work using the fake-id within clover? I managed to even spoof my intel card into being recognised as a broadcom card but of course it won't work because there are no drivers for intel cards. However in case of broadcom tthere is support. Can I spoof a 4727 to work as a 4233 or other working bcm cards using clover? anyone with any insight on this, please help me out.
24. Hello, This is a relatively new issue I have encountered in the past 24 hours and has proven to be persistent. It first presented itself under ALXEthernet.kext packaged with Rampage Dev's Haswell DMG. It was working fine for the past two weeks, full gigabit duplex mode etc. but yesterday I came across some troubling issues regarding local filesharing and Mac App Store downloads. My board is a Gigabyte Z97MX-Gaming 5 using an Atheros E2201 NIC and GTX 770 4GB OC fully enabled under Yosem 10.10.1. Appropriate DSDT patches have been applied as well as Rampage Dev's SSDT and Piker's PM SSDT. UUID and serial are all cleared and unique. Whenever I tried to write to my local AFP share (hosted by netatalk on a Linux box), it would crash the computer without any error codes or shutdown causes. Strangely I could read from the share and delete files on it without issue. This happened more often, almost always, with large transfer sizes than with smaller files. The second problem is with updating apps from the MAS. When I click "Update" it instantly crashes my computer, again without any error codes. Sometimes it lasts long enough to show the user verification login window before it crashes. As a fix I tried to work with Mieze's AtherosE2200Ethernet.kext instead of ALXEthernet. The version on the forums here did not work with my board; I had to recompile it under Yosemite build environments and then it worked. I have this copy of the kext for anyone who requests me for it, and it's completely Mieze's work as all I did was switch SDK from 10.8 to 10.10. This kext solved the AFP issues; I was able to copy a full 8GB file from local storage to AFP share. However, the MAS update crash issue remains. What's even more baffling is the fact that there is no coherent error code associated with the crash. I'm not sure if this is caused by Atheros ethernet, but I do remember encountering a similar issue with the AppleIntelE1000e.kext with my old build, especially with the AFP shares, and that's why I'm posting under here. System Information and IOReg both show the E2201 as fully recognized and enabled under both ALXEthernet and AtherosE2200Ethernet. Can anyone here help me out? Thanks.
25. Hello everybody! I just finished installing Lion on my laptop Acer Aspire 5750 with 3GB Ram and Core i3. I'm trying to put Wi-Fi to work in Lion but I guess that I'm doing something wrong. First, I downloaded a kext for my device and installed it with Kext Utility. Reboot and nothing happens, it stays without any Internet connection My Wi-Fi chipset is Atheros AR9287. If someone knows how to put it working, tell me please! Thanks and sorry for my bad english. I already edited the kext with my Device ID and Vendor ID...
