  1. For those wanting to try Windows 10, I thought I would create a short guide on how to create a Clover/UEFI Windows 10 installer with Rufus and clean install. This guide is tailored for legacy BIOS machines but should also work in systems with native UEFI firmware. Prerequisites 1. Access to OSX and Windows to run Rufus and install Clover 2. Install Rufus: Download from here 3. Download the Windows 10 insider preview ISO (build 10074) from here. Edit 29/7/15 RTM build 10240 available!: Download MediaCreationTool. Making the UEFI Windows Installer 1. In Windows, Insert a 4GB or larger USB and start Rufus with the following settings Partition scheme and target system device = MBR for UEFI computer File System FAT32 2. Click the “Create a bootable disk using ISO image” checkbox and the CDROM icon to browse/choose your downloaded ISO 3. Click Start & OK to burn the image to the USB. Notice the USB takes on the name of the original ISO. 4. After the image has been burned to the USB, copy bootx64.efi from the /efi/boot folder of the Windows ISO/DVD into /efi/microsoft/boot. Rename the file to "bootmgfw.efi" and also rename cdboot.efi to cdboot.bak. For Windows 7, you need to extract bootmgfw.efi from "install.wim" eg using 7-Zip, open the iso and navigate to \sources\install.wim\1\Windows\Boot\EFI\bootmgfw.efi and copy to efi\microsoft\boot on the USB. Installing Legacy Clover (for legacy BIOS machines to boot the installer in UEFI mode) 1. Install Clover onto the USB drive (in OSX) with the “use alternative booting PBR” option ticked as shown below. Note - you can also install legacy Clover onto the USB in Windows using the Bootice program - see post#23 2. Copy the config.plist, DSDT/SSDT.aml file(s) which are specific to your system into the Clover folder - Put config.plist in /EFI/CLOVER directory
 - Put DSDT.aml in /EFI/CLOVER/ACPI/patched - Put FakeSMC.kext and other kexts required in EFI/CLOVER/kexts/10.x (where x is your version of OSX) Installation of Windows 10 1. Create free space on the target hard drive for Windows 10. This can be done in OSX using Disk Utility or in Windows with Disk Management/Diskpart.exe. 2. It is recommended to temporarily disconnect all hard drives except the target hard drive when installing or updating Windows 10. 3. Boot the computer with the Installer USB, pressing <F12> (or whatever your system’s BIOS boot selection key is) to choose the USB and then pressing the number <6> key when you see Clover’s flashing underscore 4. At the Clover Main Menu, choose “Boot Microsoft EFI boot menu from your_USB_name” ---> start the Windows 10 installer GUI 5. Follow the rest of the steps in this guide - http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/1950-windows-10-clean-install.html Notes Choose the “Custom: Install Windows only (advanced)” option and just select the Unallocated Space for the installation —> the correct partitions will be automatically set up At the first reboot, boot to the USB again but at the Clover Main Menu, select “Boot Microsoft EFI boot menu from EFI” As the final step, don’t forget to install Clover on the hard drive . Major version upgrades through Windows Update (as opposed to a clean install) may overwrite the bootsector so legacy Clover might need to be re-installed. I recommend clean installing instead of letting Windows update perform an upgrade. If you run Windows 10 or 8 with Windows 7, you should turn off "Windows Hybrid Boot" to avoid chkdsk running every time you change from booting Windows 8/10 to Windows 7. Chameleon/Clover Emergency Boot Disk As an added bonus, by adding the attached Chameleon boot file to the root of the USB, you can use the installer as an emergency boot disk for Clover or Chameleon: Set your BIOS to boot first from USB ---> when you see the flashing underscore, press <1> to boot with Chameleon or <6> to boot with Clover . Chameleon v2737_boot1.zip Chameleon v2795_boot1.zip
  2. Several months ago I built a hackintosh using iAtkos-ML2. Since then I have successfully upgraded the system to 10.9.1 without issues; everything works correctly. This hackintosh also dual-boots Windows 7 on a separate HDD. My problem isn't really a problem, but an annoyance. The iAtkos boot manager screen displays four partitions of which only two are bootable. Is there a configuration file that can be modified to display only the bootable partitions? P.S. I'm posting here because InsanelyMac is generally a much friendly environment than the official iAtkos forum.
  3. sorry didnt know where to post this when i woke up today before work, i noticed my desktop had absolutely no power. none of the flashing lights that are usually on when it's on stand by or sleep. i know its not the power outlet because the screen and couple other things are connected to the same power strip and it gets power. what's the problem? did my computer short circuit? if so how hard is it to replace the power supply? it's and acer desktop from like 05 or somewhere around that time. would it be tedious to find a power supply that is compatible with it? if i can't fix it or get it to work, would the short circuit damage the hard drive? all in all its kind of a good thing, because i've been wanting a new gaming desktop (either custom built or alienware/genisis). but thats a good deal of money, i rather just have a quick fix and get a new desktop later, because i need my desktop, i can't stand just using a note book all day, although i love my 13" macbook pro.
  4. I did not find any guide for triple booting Samsung SF511, hope this may help... If there is any mistake in the guide please tell me... ThnQ... http://anwesh023.blogspot.in/2012/05/triple-booting-with-iatkos-l2-windows-7.html

    Decompiled MS IrDA drivers

I started some work on porting the National Semiconductor IrDA port to Mac OS X. In order to do this right I decompiled some of Microsoft's drivers related to IrDA. The work is available here: https://github.com/andyvand/msirda The driver sources are also attached below... Have fun EDIT: I have sent the ReactOS guys a link to this part of my Github repo... msirda_src.zip
  6. Hello everyone, I currently have Windows 7 running on my PC. I wanted to install Mac OSX Lion on it alongside windows 7 (Dual Boot) So I got a Bootable Lion USB made using Kakewalk 4.1.1 Now I wanted to know, how to install Mac OSX with windows 7, I have a 150 GB partition which is allocated as such: I accidently posted this topic, incomplete! Sorry, my Bad!! How do I delete this topic.? The complete topic here -> http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=272930
  7. After trying to run my OS X virtual machine while unknowingly having a problem on my host Windows OS (Windows couldn't detect my DVD/CD drive), I now have problems during OS X's boot process in VMWare. The Windows problem has been fixed, but I now get suspicious OS X boot messsages like: FusionMPT: Notification = 10 (Event Change) for SCSI Domain = 0 FusionMPT: Resetting SCSI Domain 0 disk0s0: I/O error. ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin::pushCPU_CSTData - _CST evaluation failed BootCacheControl: Unable to open /var/db/BootCache.playlist: 2 No such file or directory SMC::smcReadKeyAction ERROR: smcReadData8 failed for key $Num (kSMCKeyNotFound) SMC::smcReadKeyAction ERROR $Num kSMCKeyNotFound(0x84) fKeyHashTable=0x0 Previous Shutdown Cause: 0 SMC::smcInitHelper ERROR: MMIO regMap == NULL — fall back to old SMC mode SMC::smcGetKeyFromIndexAction ERROR: failed on index 0 SMC::smcGetKeyFromIndexAction ERROR 0 kSMCTlmeoutError(0xb7) fKeyHashTable=0x0xffffff8006ed0000 SMC::smcInitHelper ERROR smcGetKeyFromIndex(0) kSMCTlmeoutError(0xb7) SMC::smcGetKeyInfoAction ERROR DPLM kSMCTimeoutError(0xb7) fKeyHashTable=0x0 SMC::smcGetKeyInfoAction ERROR WKTP kSMCTimeoutError(0xb7) fKeyHashTable=0x0 SMC::smcWriteKeyAction ERROR CLKH kSMCKeyNotFound(0x84) fKeyHashTable=0x0 Might anyone have any suggestions? I don't know which messages are typical and which are significant for diagnosing and fixing my problem, but maybe one of you does. I'm not sure what artifacts would be most helpful, but if you need some sort of VMWare log or excerpts from my preference or vmx files, let me know. Speaking of which, my vmx file does have the entry scsi0:0.deviceType = "cdrom-raw", so the above disk0s0: I/O error message, along with the above messages that contain the terms SMC, Index, and 0, seem to be consistent with my theory that the problem lies the CD-ROM drive. You can read the following for some background, context, and more detailed boot screen transcripts. Thanks! **BACKGROUND** A little over a year ago, I installed Snow Leopard on my 64 bit Toshiba Satellite L740 machine running Windows 7 and VMWare Player using these instructions. It worked fine, and I used it problem-free for several months to develop iOS apps with XCode. I eventually updated the OS to Mountain Lion last fall. Last December, my OS X installation stopped booting and never got past the gray Apple logo with the spinning gear. I turns out I had a minor issue on my Windows host OS where Windows couldn't detect my CD drive. I think it was the Device Manager that gave the error message, "Your CD drive or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs." I promptly fixed that issue by running the Microsoft Fix It tool on this page. But because I ran the OSX virtual machine in VMWare Player before I fixed the corrupted CD/DVD drive device issue, I'm guessing that initially caused the OS X boot hanging. I took this screenshot when starting up the virtual machine sometime after fixing the Windows device issue. It says, "Failed to get the state of the lock on the CD-ROM. When the VM is powered off, the host operating system can misinterpret the state of the drive." This further suggests that the CD-ROM drive issue in Windows and the boot hanging in OSX are related, but I can't really figure how to fix the latter. During startup, I've tried booting in Safe, Verbose, and Single-User Modes to see what was going on behind the scenes. Here is some of the output during the boot process. 8. Hello! I am struggling to install Windows 7 64 bit on a new computer. The storage is M2 and it has 8 GB RAM. The system is assembled by a company and not much information about the mobo is available. I simply want to install windows 7, preferably only... but I could leave an untouched Mac version on a partition if needed. Is this something Clover will be able to help me do? I have read many guides but a lot of them talk about dual-booting with macOS. Thanks!
  9. Hello, good people! I just successfully installed 10.8.3 on a i7-2600k/Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3 (BIOS v. 10, "Touch BIOS") using a USB 3 external HDD and everything works just fine, except for one annoying thing: this computer have also Windows 7, installed on a RAID array using two SSD disks, and when i try to boot it from Chameleon, i get a "no bootmngr" message. I have to resort to hit F12 and change the boot order to access Windows. How do i solve this? RAID is not a realm where i really feel comfortable. Another question, albeit related to the first: if i clone the OSX installation from the external HDD to an internal one, will it be able to boot, despite SATA mode being set as RAID? Or OSX and Windows RAID arrays cannot share the same space? t! All the besr
  10. OK, I just built a system with Windows 7 as my primary OS (because I know it and most of my work is 7) and used a separate hard drive and installed OS X (iAtkos L2 because I need to learn OS X). If you use the boot menu or set either drive to boot first both work fine. If you use F8 and choose Win 7 it too boots fine. All I want is for Chameleon to come up with a menu instead of going directly to OS X. Ideally I'd like a slight delay, and then boot to Windows 7 by default if OS X is not selected in that few second delay period. As it is, it just goes to OS X and never shows a menu if you aren't there to his F8 at exactly the right time, or do so before Chameleon with the BIOS option. You'd think this would be ultra easy but I have Googled, searched read and read tons of useless and/or over complicated info, and unfortunately most info is for multiple partitioned single drives, or involving some other arcane stuff I don't understand as a Mac OS X dummy. This is my org.chameleon.Boot.plist (I'm guessing a simple edit there will fix it?) <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple Computer//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>Kernel</key> <string>mach_kernel</string> <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string></string> <key>Boot Graphics</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>Quiet Boot</key> <string>No</string> <key>Timeout</key> <string>5</string> <key>npci</key> <string>0x2000</string> <key>GraphicsEnabler</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>EthernetBuiltIn</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>UseKernelCache</key> <string>No</string> </dict> </plist> So this would be great, or if it's for some reason no possible, then I know it can be done with EasyBCD on the Windows 7 side, trouble is, the ONLY info I can find on that is for single hard drive systems. Any help is greatly appreciated!
  11. Hey Everyone, I just wanted to ask if I can use a AMD Radeon HD 7570 in a hackintosh. People are saying it's just renamed it is actually the HD 6570's. I just wanted to know this I want to build a hackintosh in a few months/days. ~Stransform
  12. Hello, I've got a problem, which I couldn't find on google, nor here, or I did wrong search. I installed ML on new hard disk on SATA3, in GUID partition table, and I've reinstalled windows 7 on my old hd on SATA2 in MBR partition table. I get Missing BOOTMGR error while trying to boot into windows 7. I tried bootrec fixmbr, fixboot, rebuildbcd, none worked. Is there a conflict between those two hard drives, because one is GUID n one MBR, but every time i try to boot into windows from bios boot menu (F12) i choose to boot from (WD320) hd for windows or (WD500) hd for Mac. My specs are: GA-Z77-DS3H i5 2150 (Sandy Bridge) 4Gb transcend ddr3 ram nVidia GTS 450 EDIT: I've set AHCI in bios. Also its UEFI mobo, but windows is 32bit. EDIT: Used: bcdboot X:\Windows /l en-us /s Z: /v bootsect /nt60 Z: /force then got /BOOT/BCD/ 0x0000c34 error aslo bcdboot... command gave me error: failed Nvm, unpluged mac os hd, installed windows, plugged mac os hd back, working excellent now.
  13. Hi, I have an ASUS netbook (1001PXD) running Windows 7 Starter and would like to install OS X onto it. I have found the following guide which seems fairly straight forward. However, the only thing I am unsure about is if I can retain my existing Windows 7 installation as I dont want to lose this. Will installing OS X using the above method damage the Windows bootloader? My HDD is currently partitioned into: C Drive with Windows 7 install (NTFS) D Drive empty (NTFS). I plan to reformat this to FAT32 so that I can then use Disk Utility to reformat as HFS and install OS X here. hidden partition with system recovery. I dont want to damage any of the other partitions when installing to D drive. Is this possible?
  14. Hello All, I would first like to say that the community has been a life-saver as I have been working on this project however I am also in need of assistance and will appreciate any help. I believe my first problem is Im am suffering from information overload. Heres my situation I am currently trying to Quad boot my Dell 630m Laptop with the following OSes in this Order Windows 7 Mac OSX Snow Leopard 10.5.8 using ideneb 10.5.6 updated to 10.5.8 and Ubuntu 12.10 on a single 160GB hard drive divide into 4 partitions. I have been successful in installing all the OSes in their respective partitions, from the terminal results of diskutil list the indentifer is: Win7: disk0s1 Snow Leopard: disk0s2 WinXP: disk0s3 Linux_Swap: disk0s5 Linux: disk0s6 The problems I dealing with currently consist no sound, Chameleon troubles and Windows XP not booting. The Sound is an issue I will investigate later in another thread Chameleon Part 1 This has been an interesting problem for me first trying to install the Chameleon 2.2 package from here http://www.insanelym...aller-binaries/ however each time following the directions I receive this error Install Failed The installer could not install some files in "/". After reading countless threads on trying to make this work I gave up and started following the directions here http://www.insanelym...ly-v-2-and-v-1/ and was able to successfully install Chameleon. Part 2 After I was able to install Chameleon it broke all of the booting for the OSes I was no longer able to boot anything but heres where I am a bit lost if I used the Chameleon boot cd I am able to boot to Ubuntu and Snow Leopard without the use of any flags but not the Win7 or XP partitions. I know for those two the problem is because the MBR has been overridden by Chameleon so I have to repair this in order for them to work, I have at this point been able to fix the Windows 7 partition however it says that its Recovered. When I use the Boot CD and click on Ubuntu it bring up the GRUB bootloader it alows me to get in Ubuntu so it at least works. Im still working on the XP partition. This now means that Chameleon is gone and I have to use the Boot CD in order to access any of the other OSes and will either have to figure out the SVN or go thru the steps again to manually install Chameleon however if I do I'll be backin the same istuation as before right? Part 3 As the creation of this thread Im currently using the Chameleon boot CD in order to boot into the OSes which isnt pretty as a normal Chameleon bootloader but honestly I dont know what else to do at this point I cant figure this piece out. If anyone can help me get over this hump I would appreciate it if you need any additional information please ask Im willing to try anything at this point to make this work. Thanks for looking and any help
  15. Hello everyone, I currently have Windows 7 running on my PC. I wanted to install Mac OSX Lion on it alongside windows 7 (Dual Boot) So I got a Bootable Lion USB made using Kakewalk 4.1.1 Now I wanted to know, how to install Mac OSX with windows 7, I have a 500GB HDD out of which a 150 GB partition (divided to two 75GB partitions) is allocated as such: 1. 75GB NTFS Windows 2. 75GB Unformatted clean partition. and the rest 315GB is allocated as NTFS, for some data! I want to install Mac OSX Lion on this 2nd 75 GB partition, so how do I do that so that I can dual boot with Windows. (Also, I read this one post for Snow leopard which said to install Mac OSX Snow Leopard in this empty partition, then repair the boot using Windows 7 CD, and add a Mac OSX entry to the bootloader using EasyBCD. Can this same approach be used for Lion) Thanks!!
  16. I just installed Windows 8 on a new, separate SSD drive. I thought I was being smart by un-plugging every HDD except for the destination volume. Installation went fine, and surprisingly fast for Windows. I plugged my other drives back in and restarted back into OS X. Here is the problem; I can not boot into Windows 7 (also on a separate HDD) from the Chameleon OS select screen. No matter which Windows volume I select, it will always boot into Windows 8. I find this behaviour rather odd, as Windows 8 was installed essentially on a lone volume. From what I read after researching on Google, Windows 8 will present a choice of which Windows you would like to boot in. However, this only happens if at the time of installation the Windows 7 drive/partition was present. As well, I could care less if I am able to select the Windows 7/8 drive from the BIOS and boot with desired results; It defeats the purpose of using Chameleon... Questions? Comments? Suggestions?
  17. Hi guys, i'm new here, if this thread isn't in the right section please move it. Well, i'm not new to hackintosh but i'm facing a new problem and i don't wanna ruin things. Basicly Windows 7 installation delete Chamaleon boot loader at pc start, now i can access to Yosemite only using the USB (wich contain yosemite installation), I wanna install Chameleon bootloader back. this was the configuration before ruin things. Dual boot with Yosemite 10.10.0 and Windows 7 HP x64 actually like this Now with the USB boot it loads like this, with the USB being "Yosemite Zone" I ruined thing when for other reason I had to install Win7 again, so at installation part i didn't touched System partition (100 MB), delete only the partion with old Win and installed the new one while leaving OSX partition untouched. At the boot the PC just load directly Windows 7 without showing Chamaleon. The first time i tried to boot OSX with the USB the boot failed with screen errors, so next usb boot i insert "-x -f -v" and then the OSX booted fine. Turn off the pc tried the USB boot this time without any arguments just select OSX partition and it actually worked fine. How can I install back Chamaleon bootloader back without messing up thing while keeping both OSX and Windows partition selection at boot?? Tried with EasyBCD but it didn't work. Thanks!
