  1. I'm trying to upgrade to El Capitan directly from Yosemite (It's a distro but I'm trying to leave the distro environment to El Capitan, or at least find a way to fix the installer that I have downloaded to work with my laptop) and when I boot "install Mac OS X Install" it goes straight to a kernel panic right when the loading bar shows up. I appear to have issues with kexts, but I'm not sure, I have supplied an image of the panic. Please tell me how to fix this.
  2. Hi all, First time poster so please excuse my general lack of knowledge I purchased a 'pre-built' Hackintosh around a year ago. It's been pretty smooth sailing, even given my lack of technical skills. I'm now looking at installing a larger SSD and, whilst I'm at it, upgrading to 10.9 Mavericks. Found a great guide on this here forum which looks relatively straightforward (even for me!) Only thing is, I'm not sure how I go about 'extracting' the customisations that were put in place by my kindly supplier to get the system running on 10.8. In other words, how do I extract the stuff in the 'Extra' folder (and elsewhere) to make the process of installing 10.9 as simple as possible? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, andy
  3. I got a couple of used XServes for super cheap on eBay. I am going to use one as a VMWare Server for remote employees. The other will be a simple file server since I can do both SMB and AFP as opposed to our Win SBS 2011 server which can only do SMB. The one that will be for virtual machines I felt that I would need a little more power to handle the out of office employees. I bought a pair of Xeon e5345 CPUs for $40.00 on eBay and they certainly did the trick. Here are the before and after Geekbench results Before - http://browser.primatelabs.com/geekbench2/1814845 After - http://browser.primatelabs.com/geekbench2/1533559 Quite an improvement in my opinion. Went from four total cores to eight. As temps go; idle temps are around 35-42c. I also used Arctic Silver 5. OSX System Profiler does not recognize the CPU name. It gets the number of cores and speed right but it lists "Unknown" as the name. However, Geekbench and the virtual machines both see the CPU speed and name correctly. For $40 this was a great upgrade.
  4. Hey everybody. I know im pretty far behind in development but....i was wondering if there were any guru's that could help me out. My Netbook: Compaq 110c-1100CA intel N270 @1.6 2GB ram 300GbHDD Intel 945g graphics broadcom wifi I have installed the iDeneb v1.3 10.5.5 and a couple of kext's that i found to work nicely with my machine. everything is set up but the ethernet (don't really care about that). Long story short i tried to install this and that app/program, nothing worked, told me i had to update... so i clicked on the apple at the top left, clicked software update hoping for the best. things downloaded, it said it was installing, about 2/3 done it crashes with alot of text in the background and i think with a semi grayed out circle, telling me i have to restart my computer. My question is... 1. Can i just buy a intel copy of osx, put it in my ext-dvd and install, then load in the kexts? 2. what happened with the grey circle telling me to restart, kernal panic? 2b. if it wasn't a kernal panic, what is a kernal panic? 3. if i can update my current config, what would be my best plan of action, removing kexts, and updating? or fresh install + update then install kexts. Tl:dr i feel like im using a windows 98 machine help! Also, if there is anyone out there that needs help with this specific laptop model ill be sure to try and help you out as much as i can. hopefully i can create a guide for this specific model.
  5. Hello! I am trying to upgrade Yosemite 10.10.4 to El Capitan 10.11.1 with no luck. I've been using hackintosh for quite a while now. I've never experienced any difficulties with upgrading to newer version until recently. The installation process goes all well with no problems as well as the first boot. I'm able to run all post-installation procedures (install clover bootloader, run unib... etc.). The problem begins when I install the latest Nvidia Web drivers. The Hackintosh just won't boot up and it keeps auto-restarting just before it shows the login screen (screen goes black for a few seconds and then the pc restarts). There is no kernel panic also booting in verbose mode does not show anything unusual (the web drivers seem to start up correctly). Sometimes what I am able to read out is: "previous shutdown cause: 5" but I'm not sure if this is related to a boot failure or to a previous "normal" shutdown. I've tried all sorts of things to resolve this issue from trying different combination of boot flags to deleting and reinstalling the nvidia drivers, booting into safe-mode / without kernel cache. I tried to inject Nvidia Gfx via clover bootloader but this resulted in kernel panic. The only thing that partly helped was booting with nv_disable=1 flag but then the resolution is really bad and hackintosh is practically unusable (the screen blinks to every frame when animation is being shown). Could you please help me with some suggestions how to fix this issue. My Hardware: Cpu: i7 Motherboard: dx58so2 Gpu: Nvidia GeForce 285 GTX Custom DSDT: Yes Flags that I've used: nv_disable=1/0, nvda_drv=1/0, GraphicsEnabler=Yes/no, x, npci=0x2000/0x3000, cpus=1/2/3/4, IGPEnabler=Yes, dart=0 kext-dev-mode=1, PCIRootUID=1 PS: Maybe I should also mention that I was previous using the Chimera bootloader instead of clover. Unfortunately I cannot post any boot logs because there is no log in /var/logs or /L/Logs, /S/L/Logs
  6. Hey guys! This is my first post after having registered a while back. I usually tend to do my research, browse through forums to find answers to my questions and figure things out on my own, but I'm stumped and need some help here. I have a 2006 Mac Mini that I upgraded to a 2 GHz Core 2 Duo (T7200, I believe.) and I also upgraded the firmware from the 1,1 (MM11.0055.08B) to the 2,1 boot ROM (MM21.009A.B00). I have reset PRAM and SMC, but I still have kernel panic for different reasons. Sorry, that I don't have the reports available to post some examples right now, but I've had several issues since upgrading the EFI such as fan issues, freezing up, not being able to install an app or update (Installer failures) and sudden need to press and hold the power button to shut down just to name a few. If someone can guide me as to rolling back the firmware that would be awesome. I have included the stock firmware and the 1,1 to 2,1 files (with Terminal script used to install it.) in case any of that is needed. I pulled the stock boot ROM with unpkg. As far as which OS X version I'm using, these errors/failures have occurred under Snow Leopard, Lion and Mountain Lion through MLPostFactor 0.3. I have even had difficulty performing a clean install using the 10.6.3 retail disk because it would fail. Installing Lion failed a few times as has the MLPostFactor install. At this point, I'd like to rollback and then try reinstalling the 2,1 firmware. Maybe that can help? I tried reinstalling the 2,1 files and didn't work (I couldn't get it to work.). I'm guessing it's because of the boot ROM version incompatibility, my ignorance, or both.. I've tried downgrading by using the Firmware Restore CD 1.7 by booting with it and MacminiFirmwareUpdate.dmg stated that it is incompatible (boot ROM incompatibility being that it is lower than what is installed), so naturally, neither option i attempted worked. Maybe I need some terminal script and/or stock boot ROM mod to downgrade much in the same vein that I upgraded to 2,1 in the first place? Or maybe some script to help me out in forcing the installer to restore or something? Any methods you come up with are fine with me as I'm able to follow instructions to the letter. I'm not savvy with Terminal, so I apologize for not knowing my way around! I should pick up a book or two soon and learn it. Any help would be appreciated and if I confused anyone, ask and I'll clarify as best I can. Thank you in advance! Mac Mini 1,1 Stock MM11_0055_08B.zip Mac Mini 1,1 to 2,1.zip
  7. I have modded the Gigabyte upgrade ROM for the ATI HD6450 to be compatible with an Asus EAH6450. The tool to use must be run under windows (ATIWinFlash.exe). This will give you full UEFI GOP support for the Asus EAH6450 (ATI HD6450 from Asus). This is for the 1GB version of the card. I tested this on my own PC and it works excellent. I disable CSM support after flashing this ROM and it works perfectly. I even have the VFCT table. Not bad for a card which was supposed to not have any UEFI support... Enjoy EDIT: I managed to extract the UEFI GOP binary itself. It seems it works for many video cards... Some info on the EFI binary is also inside the folder See the .html file to look up supported modules. You can use the EfiRom tool to create a new video bios for your card Asus_EAH6450_GOP_Upgrade.zip HD6450_GOP_EFI.zip

Is there a 10.9.5 for AMD processors?

Just a question guys, I currently have Niresh 10.9.0 installed on my hackintosh and I'm wanting to upgrade to 10.9.5 but I'm not sure how? I'm using an AMD FX-4100 processor and can't seem to find anywhere with a download link for 10.9.5 that works with AMD CPUs? Any help would be great!
  10. I have a nvidia G92-761-B1 based 1Gig MXM HE card (maybe a GTX280M?) that I'd like to put in my early 2008 24" A1225 (EMC 2211) iMac. (This is part of an upgrade to sata ssd, OWC's 6gig of ram, and a new 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 DUO Mobile E8435 SLAQD 6MB 1066MHz processor. Might as well do it all at once) From my research all the items except the video card should be 'plug & play'. I expect I'll need to re-flash my video card with an apple rom. I think I can use the 8800GS rom that was an option for this iMac, but I know there are better choices to be able to utilize more of this video card. maybe a 9800 GTX+ rom? Can someone point me to an existing rom that would be best for this card or do I need to try and stitch one together? My rom chip is a SST25VF512A-33-4C-SAE (512k), but I can replace it if needed. I found a GTX 285 EFI64 rom from http://forum.netkas.org/index.php/topic,2187.0.html(http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4133784/OrigRom/evga285m.rom) which might work? I'm worried because most of the roms I find are for PCI cards in mac pros. This is a MXM HE card (PCI ish), so is the rom different?
  11. Hey, I tried the standard upgrade route directly from the latest Yosemite to El Capitan. The kext (FakeSMC only in my case) is in the Clover 10.11 directory, I also edited the config.plist. The install went smoothly as far as I can tell, but I can't boot into the system. I tried the -x -s -v flags, but no avail. It seems to crash after the CPUSensors/PCI. Additional information: Nvidia GTX770 Intel Xeon E3-1240V2 Asus P8Z77-M PRO Installed the Nvidia web driver in Yosemite. I can boot into the Repair disk. Any thoughts?
