  1. Hi guys, I'm having problems getting my Mavericks 10.9.4 installation to run without safemode. My system starts perfectly in safemode with 4K resolution and sees the graphics card as ATI Radeon HD 7*** 6144MB But when i try to boot without safemode it hangs right before the launch of the GUI. Is there something I'm missing here? (and just a side question, does somebody know if the radeon HD 7970 runs on Yosemite otherwise ill go to that one on launch.) My system setup: MB: Intel Desktopboard DX79TO Memory: G-Skill Ripjaws 32GB 1600Mhz (4x8GB) Graphicscard: Sapphire Radeon HD 7970 Vapor-X 6GB edition. Wireless Network card: D-Link DWA-556 Xtreme-N (in OS X recorgnised OoB as Non-Apple Airport Extreme) One small thing relevant of noticing, I've had Mountain Lion 10.8.4 fully opperational on this machine. (except for the fact that osx didnt see my full 6GB graphics card but i had Qe/Ci. With Kind Regards, Sven
  2. Input with any experience regarding this would be really appreciated guys! I've already posted this topic on "Mac forum" but had no response whatsoever. So, I have bought Sapphire HD6850 for my Mac. I gotta make few music videos in FCPX and treat myself from time to tim with Arkham City and Borderland 2. I didn't plan on flashing bios with mac EFI but after seeing few "bugs" with GPU as is, maybe that is the way to go. That's where i need your input, is this related to being PC card or not? - Card being recognized as HD6xxx is EFI problem, and thats one thing i know for sure. Yosemite is loading: AMD6000Controller, AMDFramebuffer and AMDRadeonX3000 kexts. Next, few benchmarks are working OK, but i don't know if the results are as they should be? But GFXBench and CompuBench are not working at all. In CompuBench i can mark benchmarks i want to run, but it just goes through load process, as you can see in this video. Also, i had twice the experience of bad pixelation in OS X and red, yellow and green dots on black screens in all videos (Youtube, FCPX, VLC...). The clock, icons on dock, all was suffering from strange graphics artifacts. It goes back to normal after reboot, and doesn't occur if i prevent OS X from going to sleep. then its all good. But if i keep it on with few sleep/wake cycles it happens. As far as i can tell. So my question, again, is - Does this occurs because my GPU has PC BIOS and will it change with flashing, or is this problem with this particular model of the card? Thank you all, in advance, for participating! P.S. Here is the link to the original topic, if i forgot to mention anything.
  3. Hi everybody, I am currently working on getting a 2 Screen setup to work with my system. I have a recent 27" Shimian QH270 (DVI) with 2560x1440 max. and a pretty old MEDION MD7218AR (VGA) with 1280x1024 max. The very first step was to make my ports work. For this I edited my Duckweed Personality after reading Alexander Martinez' Guide, and bcc9's Thread. My first problem was I had no Windows Partition and no HDD lying around. Tried for days to get almost every Windows working on externals without luck. Then stumbled upon this Guide from rampagedev which is basically a round-up of all the others and went for the DOS way. When I was already set up to work my way through all personalities I found fffeee's Post who has exactly my card. So I thought I'd give it a try and just edit my Duckweed as he did. This is the as-is for now. My DVI Ports both work, which is what I needed. (Can't even test HDMI and DP) [ DVI-I(DL) ]✔ [ HDMI ] [ DP ] [ DVI-D(DL) ]✔ My Problem: When I connect the DVI-D Cable of the 27" to the DVI-D Port I don't get support for no-VESA resolutions (which is 2560x1440). When I connect it to the DVI-I Port, the Screen gets full resolution support. This is troublesome, since I have no chance to connect the VGA Adapter to any other port than the DVI-D. I came across this thread about VESA modes but it actually refers to the boot screen only. I did try to edit my ROM and load it with AtiROM=Yes but failed in editing I suppose since system didn't even load. My Boot.plist Custom DSDT GraphicsEnabler=Yes AtiConfig=Duckweed AtiPorts=4 GraphicsMode=2560x1440x32 My Question(s): 1) Is there anybody out there with a) experiences with similar cards + edited framebuffers + screen sizes or even with similar working setups? 2) Do you have any ideas/tips for me on what to work on to get support for the desired resolution on that port? (VESA/Framebuffer/Other?) My System: Mainboard: GA-H77-D3H (EFI F10) CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1230V2 GPU: Sapphire HD6870 1024MB (Barts XT RV940) GPU VenID: 1002 GPU DevID: 6738 GPU SubSysID: 174b OS: 10.8.3 (12D78) For further input I can post more details if necessary. Hope anybody has some ideas floating in their head. Greetings Deri~

    Radeon R9 270x Framebuffer/ID problem?

Hi all! My first post here First of all, I want to say a warm hello & thank you to everyone on here! InsanelyMac has pulled me out of the s**t many a time before now! On the topic of this graphics card - I have followed Vlada's InsanelyMac post (Here) regarding this GPU & I haven't had much luck! Basically, I have the Sapphire Radeon R9 270x running on (Niresh) Mavericks 10.9.2 - it's displaying as 'Radeon HD 7xxx 2048 MB'.. I am getting full resolution, and I assume QE/CI is working as I can make a move in Chess. However, running a LuxMark benchmark I am getting a "clBuildProgram -11" error, and in Unigine Heaven I am barely scraping 10fps with the settings on Extreme I have tried installing Vlada's driver package and it just gives me nothing (Black screen on DVI, screen goes off completely on HDMI). I have tried the Terminal method too, still no luck. The only section I could not follow properly was the DSDT section - I couldn't find the "PEGP" device in MaciASL, my Graphics Card is on PC02 according to IORegistryExplorer. So I guess my question is, has my n00b level reached a new extreme & I'm missing something completely obvious? Or should everything be working? BTW, I have another Mac installation on my second HDD, so copying/restoring {censored}-ups is easy enough for me! Thanks in advance! Conor

Sapphire HD4850 1GB und OSX Lion

Hallo liebe Community, Ich habe folgendes Problem.
  8. I've always used Nvidia Graphic Cards ... but recently I got tired of not being able to make my 9800GT work with HDMI on my SandyBridge. So I'm thinking of buying a Sapphire ATI Radeon HD5770 1GB DDR5 ( Not the Vapor-X )and would like to know if it is fully working with HDMI .. Can anyone confirm for me!? It's hard to make this HD5770 to work or it is OOB? Thank you!
  9. Fellow Hackintoshers, I used to have a two monitor setup under 10.8.x / Clover which was a bit of a hassle to get to work because of the video ports not working. So I searched all over the place and where else but here on insanelymac did I find people kind enough to explain step by step how to change framebuffers manually. Back then I did like Alexander Martinez did (After following his tutorial, working on my files, I realized my card had the exact same setup, and copied it really) and it worked out quite well! Instead of choosing a framebuffer somewhere in Clover I wrote a patch into my DSDT and everything worked just fine. Now we moved on to 10.9.x and Ozmosis 'came out' (i.e. found it's way into the community). I'm glad to have moved to this bootloader, makes lots of things easier imho. But. After installing Mavericks (clean, complete Re-Install with Ozmosis) and re-editing a new DSDT with my patches, I once again had no video ports. So I edited the new AMD6000Controller's Duckweed frame buffer again, but dang...this time...it...didn't work. I did it again these days realizing that back then I used a Kext Utility not officially compatible with Mavericks, but still...nothing. When I still had no framebuffer forced with the DSDT, OSX decided to use Bulrushes for my card, which gave me wrong resolutions and mouse lags. Apparently this is a problem with 10.9 not with Ozmosis, so I'd love to see if somebody can give me some tips/hints on what to do, on what I did wrong maybe, or what I should try. To make this easier I'm gonna sum up again what I've done: (People take care: This is no solution to anything. It does not work. It's what I have done so far, to make debugging easier!) 1) Patch DSDT with the following: Device (PEGP) { Name (_ADR, 0x00010000) // _ADR: Address Method (_PRT, 0, NotSerialized) // _PRT: PCI Routing Table { If (PICM) { Return (AR02 ()) } Return (PR02 ()) } Device (GFX0) { Name (_ADR, Zero) // _ADR: Address Name (_SUN, One) // _SUN: Slot User Number Method (_DSM, 4, NotSerialized) // _DSM: Device-Specific Method { Store (Package (0x0C) { "@0,name", Buffer (0x0D) { "ATY,Duckweed" }, "@1,name", Buffer (0x0D) { "ATY,Duckweed" }, "@2,name", Buffer (0x0D) { "ATY,Duckweed" }, "@3,name", Buffer (0x0D) { "ATY,Duckweed" }, "model", Buffer (0x13) { "AMD Radeon HD 6870" }, "hda-gfx", Buffer (0x0A) { "onboard-1" } }, Local0) DTGP (Arg0, Arg1, Arg2, Arg3, RefOf (Local0)) Return (Local0) } } Device (HDAU) { Name (_ADR, One) // _ADR: Address Method (_DSM, 4, NotSerialized) // _DSM: Device-Specific Method { Store (Package (0x02) { "hda-gfx", Buffer (0x0A) { "onboard-1" } }, Local0) DTGP (Arg0, Arg1, Arg2, Arg3, RefOf (Local0)) Return (Local0) } } } 2) Change the original framebuffer "Duckweed" in 10.9.1 AMD6000Controller from: 00 04 00 00 04 03 00 00 00 01 00 00 12 04 04 01 00 04 00 00 04 03 00 00 00 01 00 00 22 05 05 02 00 08 00 00 04 02 00 00 00 01 00 00 11 02 03 04 00 02 00 00 14 02 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 00 06 05 3) Into the adapted version fitting for my Sapphire HD6870 04 00 00 00 14 02 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 00 06 05 00 08 00 00 04 02 00 00 00 01 00 00 22 05 02 04 00 02 00 00 04 00 00 00 00 01 00 00 11 02 03 06 00 04 00 00 04 03 00 00 00 01 00 00 12 04 04 01 . Hopefully somebody has time and inner peace to help me on this. I know some of you guys are badass smart! Would really appreciate it. Thank you for reading. Kudos Marian
