    Trouble Installing AMD Kernel

Hello, so since the last time I posted I've had a bit of luck and happened to find an old iMac in the dumpster at my job. I took it home, repaired it and now I have a legitimate means of getting a fresh copy of OS X! With that in mind, I've ditched the Niresh distro because no matter how many different things I tried I could NEVER get my graphics card to work properly. So I'm back at it trying to make a clean installer with the bare minimum to get me through, so far it's been going pretty good except one thing...the kernel. I honestly don't know where or how to install it onto the boot drive. I've looked around on these forums, on other forums(including Reddit >.>), etc. and I can't seem to find the answer that I'm looking for. My first attempt I just dragged/dropped into the USB drive after installing Clover, that obviously didn't work. I also renamed it to "mach_kernel" which didn't do anything either, lastly I tried installing it in a few places that I thought might be more likely such as the EFI drive. Am I missing something? Overthinking it? I'm at a loss. I'll break down my steps for creating the installer, hopefully someone can help me push through to the next step. ---------------------------------------------------------- My Specs: AMD FX 8350 Asus M5A97 R2.0 Motherboard MSI R9 290 Twin Frozr 4X4GB AMD R9 Gaming RAM @ 2133Mhz Corsair 850W Gold Cert. PSU Installing on a 2.5" spare laptop drive ----------------------------------------------------------- Here's my method of creating the installer: Step 1: Download the Install OS X Yosemite.app installer Step 2: Run Terminal, type in this command: "sudo /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ El\ Capitan.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Untitled --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ El\ Capitan.app --nointeraction" Step 3: Once it finishes installing, I restart the iMac to complete any necessary changes Step 4: Open and install the latest revision of Clover to the drive Step 5: Restart the iMac again Step 6: Place FakeSMC and NullCPUPowerManagement kexts into the 10.10 folder inside the USB installer Step 7: Place the AMD kernel for 10.10.5 in the USB installer Step 8: Create a config.plist file with Clover configurator on the iMac to match what I've needed to boot previously and place inside the EFI partition of the USB installer Step 9: Remove the drive, attempt install on PC. ----------------------------------------------------------- Some additional notes: - The kernel I'm using is an AMD 10.10.5 kernel by Deepak, not sure if the OS X version I have is 10.10.5 since it won't tell me in the App Store when I load it, not sure if this is an issue or not - The kexts were also provided by Deepak on his website on getting El Capitan to work - I have installed Clover for UEFI boot, which my system is perfectly capable of, however I'm wondering if it might be a part of the problem - When I actually boot the USB drive, it starts up for several seconds in verbose mode and then powers down my computer completely, restoring power a couple of seconds later. I've been at this since April trying to get a working install of Mavericks and Yosemite, both unsuccessfully, so thanks in advance for any and all help, it's definitely appreciated!
  3. Hello !. I was following http://www.insanelym...-for-beginners/ to install osx with Windows 7, OS X bootable usb created on VM. When I'm trying to boot from usb screen becomes gray with notiffication which tells me to restart. After restart used -v and that is resoult: https://www.dropbox.com/s/4li62yn6hk7tbe9/2013-03-03%2000.51.00.jpg?m Another restart and command -f. I saw apple logo but freezed after few seconds. Another restart then UseKernelCache=NO and again logo + freeze. Did that tutorial 2 times. 1st time with ,,files for dual boot", 2nd without. The same resoult. My config: Intel Core i3 - 2310m 4gb RAM http://img96.imagesh...<!--NoParse3--> I know that WiFi card is not supported. Have already bought USB. I'm totally green in that.
  4. Hi guys! I'm having problem with my install. I cannot boot to the install since i'm getting KP ( Unable to find driver ACPI ). I'm not really sure will i need to patch my bios for to get it work or what? I'm using Clover and i've tried to boot with nv_disable=1 since i have GTX 970. So i think it's not my graphics card which is causing this problem. Specs: - Intel i7 4770k - Gigabyte Z97X-Gaming 5 - Asus Strix GTX 970 - Kingston HyperX 1600MHz 2x 4GB If more info needed just ask! Thanks in advance!

    AMD Kernel

    Version 10.8.x

This is the result of months of development in this topic: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/top...esting-on-amd/. The kernel, which i'm posting here as amd_kernel, was built by Andy Vandjick, but that wouldn't be possible without the amazing work by Sinetek (who made the first SSSE3 emulator ever, enabling non FX-series CPUs to run OSX in 64-bit kernel mode), R:A:W:x86, Bronzovka (who made Lion on AMD possible) and the Voodoo Team. Many thanks to them all! The correct boot flags to run the kernel are amd_kernel arch=x86_64. FX-series users must also add the correct busratio. The kernel is not working properly with nVidia graphics (and some ATI ones), so their users must also either add -x (safe mode) boot flag or disable GeforceGA.plugin and GLDriver.bundle in System/Library/Extensions. This kernel will also work with 64-bit Intel CPUs that are not capable of running the vanilla kernel. Good luck to all and please post feedback. The sources are also included for anyone wanting to build the kernel from the sources, or help improve it - there's still a lot of work to do.

    AMD Lion Kernel

I know that Nawcom is probably the only person developing a kernel for AMD , and now he has medical issues and is taking some time off . So I was wondering If it is possible for someone else to create a kernel . Mountain Lion will be released soon enough and so far , no one has taken up the initiative . And so I though maybe i could look into the issue , trust me I am not really experience at the time of writing , but I am an amateur either . I have sufficient experience in OS X and I have a working OS X Snow Leopard on AMD . SO I started learning Xcode and cocoa . I Went through dozens of resources on how the kernel works and how the mach kernel works . And recently I just got this idea . Nawcom patches the open source XNU kernel right ? And it works for AMD . So what I did was I opened up a couple of Nawcom's patches . I came to the conclusion that he used patches which were discovered quite a while back . So from this I came to the conclusion that the main thing he is doing is patching the XNU kernel with patches perviously made by mercury squad and a few others . I know that they put in a lot of effort in finding how AMD can be included in the kernel . So What I was thinking was , what if someone used the same .diff file for nawcom's previous legacy kernels for the 10.6 and combine them with the new legacy atom kernel for lion . I tried doing that , and now the combining is almost complete . I really do hope this works . I am looking for testers . Also , anyone who has experience with the mach_kernel or at least on the patches , please correct me if I am wrong . People don't give up hope , Hackintosh has been there for quite sometime and It will be there for quite sometime , no matter who stops working for the project .
  12. After two days without a hickup, i had to reboot 3 times to get into my OS. After the 1st attempt it shut down when booting into El Cap, then rebooted again and after Clover it gave me the "Your Computer shut down because of a problem" msg. After two more attempts i managed to get into El Cap and it gave me a msg: You shut down your computer, would you like to reopen he prg. you used last?" I also got a crashreport, but i'm not knowing where to look for the error/problem, so i hope maybe someone is so kind and able to tell me what i have to look for. CrashReport.txt config.txt

  14. Hello, i'm a new member and a week ago i managed to install Mavericks on my HP Pavilion. I did a new clean install, installed the bootloader, managed to install some kexts for the Power Management ecc.. but i don't understand why i've got problems booting without the usb always. With the usb boot everything seems to work fine, but when i reboot without there's always something wrong. Now i get the following kernel panic and can't boot without stick. (picture) (i read that maybe it has to do with the intelHD3000, but what should I do in order to fix this??) Thanks in advance. specs: 2,2 GHz Intel Core i7 2760QM chip HM65 RAM 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 Intel Graphics HD3000
  15. [AMD] 10.7.3 Guide - Experimental Only Guide Revision 003 - 20042012 Written by Devout CHANGES are in Green. Introduction Welcome to the tutorial to get your 10.7.3 running. Before we start, I'd like to make it clear that this tutorial is based on a kernel that is still being developed, and future changes to the tutorial will occur. Additionally, not everything works right now so you'll just have to see if your machine is supported and that you want to see if it's capable of running Lion. Please do not install this if you're planning to use the machine a lot, as there are still problems with applications crashing, and I don't want you to be frustrated. Use my Snow Leopard Guide if you need a reliable machine (link in FAQ). It's currently impossible to install Lion using your AMD machine, unless if it's a distribution. Please use Methods 1 to 3, depending on what access of hardware you have. Additionally, these range from being easy (1) to hard (3). The Retail Lion installation requires an Intel processor, and you won't be able to bypass this on an AMD machine, hence you might need to use Methods 2 or 3. Installation - Setup Method 1 - Easy Required: 10.7.3 DMG from Mac App Store + Existing Intel Hackintosh or Mac Hardware Using your exisiting Intel hackintosh machine running Snow Leopard 10.6.6 + or real Macintosh hardware, Install 10.7.3 Retail DMG to an external harddrive OR take your your exisiting hard drive and connect it to your machine using an external exclosure if needed. Once it's installed successfully move on to STEP 1. (Follow directly, don't restart, reboot). Method 2 - Moderate Required: iATKOS L2, ShowAllFiles, Existing Snow Leopard Using your existing AMD Machine running Snow Leopard. Mount iATKOS L2 DMG, and let it verify. Once verified, you'll need to ShowAllFiles, before you can see the contents of the DMG. Once ShowAllFiles has been enabled, open the DMG. Locate: System/Installation/Packages/OSInstall.mkpg and open the file. This is the Lion Installer, continue till you can customize the install. Make sure you select the correct Installation Harddrive, as you need to be careful you're not reinstalling over Snow Leopard or other important partitions. Customize the installation, however you like. Not much of this will matter, leave the default selected items. Additionally you can untick Bootloader, if you want it to be a bootable USB (Scroll down for this). Install any network/sound drivers you need. Let the installation continue and install, let it finish, and you'll have Lion installed. Once it's successfully installed move on to STEP 1. (Follow directly, don't restart, reboot). Method 3 - Hard Required: iATKOS L2, iHazard 10.6.2, ShowAllFiles, Existing Snow Leopard Download VirtualBox https://www.virtualbox.org/, and install. Download iHazard 10.6.2 ISO. Create a VirtualBox Profile and configure profile, making sure you untick Special EFI, and then load iHazard 10 6 2 ISO. Run the Virtual Profile you created and install 10.6.2. Once successfully Installed, restart. Try and run Snow Leopard with the following Bootflags: -v arch=i386 If it works, proceed. (If not, reply to topic). Remove iHazard 10.6.2 ISO from the Virtual Profile. Attach iATKOS L2 DMG to the Virtual Profile, and open it up from within Snow Leopard. iATKOS should come up. You'll need to ShowAllFiles, before you can see the contents of the iATKOS. Once ShowAllFiles has been enabled, open iATKOS. Additionally you can untick Bootloader, if you want it to be a bootable USB (Click here for that). Install any network/sound drivers you need. Let the installation continue and install, let it finish, and you'll have Lion installed. Once it's successfully installed move on to STEP 1. (Follow directly, don't restart, reboot). STEP 1: If you've enabled ShowAllFiles yet, do so now. Open the root of the freshly Installed Lion. Replace the hidden (but shown up) mach_kernel with the one from here. (http://www.osx86.net...md!!!!!!!!.html) (Use V4). STEP 2: Install Chameleon using Chameleon Wizard on the harddrive. Additionally, you can choose to install this on a USB stick so you have a bootable USB. STEP 3: Reboot and configure your BIOS and make sure the drive that the partition is on is set as AHCI. Reboot to save your BIOS settings and you should be in Chameleon. (If you created a bootable USB with Chameleon, make sure you use Boot Priorty for your USB to load before Hard drive or press F8 (button varies), to boot the USB directly first). Type in the bootflags -legacy -v arch=i386 npci=0x3000 Step 4: It should load, and you'll be greeted with the Welcome Screen. You've now got a running machine of Lion! Proceed to install graphical, wireless and sound drivers if they're not already working. (If you used iATKOS L2, upgrade to 10.7.3 through combo updater and then replace mach_kernel and finder again, or you'll need to use another Mac or MacDrive to replace these files). Confirm your motherboard processor! BY REPLYING! CONFIRMED motherboards + processors list Motherboards Asus M2N32-SLI Asus M2N68 AM-SE2 Asus M4785TD-M EVO Asus M5A78L-M LX v2 AsRock N68-S3 MSI 870A-G46 Processors AMD Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition AMD Phenom II X3 450 Black Edition AMD Phenom II X4 955 AMD Athlon II X2 250 AMD Athlon II X2 5400+ BE AMD Athlon II X2 7550 AMD Athlon II x4 640 FAQ. Q. Do I need to replace mach_kernel if I update Lion? Yes, you'll need to do this if you're coming from iATKOS 10.7.2 to 10.7.3. You'll need to do it for future updates as well as 10.7.3. Q. Is it possible to replace mach_kernel and finder in Windows? Yes, with MacDrive. Q. I get stuck at "AppleUSBOHCI::CheckSleepCapability - OHCI Controller will be unloaded across sleep" in verbose mode. Make sure your hard drive is set to AHCI mode in BIOS. Q. I get stuck on [PCI Configuration Begin]? Make sure your use either npci=0x2000 or npci=0x3000. Q. I get stuck after [PCI Configuration Begin] or RTC: Only Single Ram Bank (128 bytes) or FakeSMC? Your motherboard has problems with USB Legacy so unplug the keyboard and mouse and see if you can boot, unplug them after you press enter after inserting your boot flags in Chameleon, you can also try by adding the bootflag: USBLegacyOff=Yes Q. Finder doesn't work? The kernel is only capable of 32 bit mode, meaning you'll need to use the Lion DP2 Finder which can be downloaded here. Replace System/Core Services/Finder.app. You'll need to replace this everytime you update Lion to a newer version. Q. -v Sometimes it doesn't load? Stuck after DMOS has arrived. It freezes sometimes, you'll need to use -x bootflag to run safe mode. Q. Does iCloud work? My Ethernet is en0, deleted Network Interfaces.plist, but still doesn't work? iCloud/Facetime doesn't work with self-compiled kernels. Appstore will work with EthernetBuiltIn=Yes bootflag. Q. Why do applications stop opening after X minutes? (Typically 10). Kernel bug, should be fixed in the future. READ BELOW FOR TIPS! The reason why applications are not functioning after 10 minutes is because Xpchelper has a bug and it's sending a lot of information to ReportCrash and it's basically nuking the system, hence system core services applications don't work after a while. You can remove ReportCrash in (sys/lib/coreserv/reportcrash) Force Quit XPCHELPER everytime you launch a system core service application like Safari, App Store, Calender, FaceTime etc. It won't fix it, and it will still stop working, but this prolongs the availability of opening applications and using your system for more varied tasks. Q. Do you have a Snow Leopard Guide? Yes!, you can find it here (AMD): http://www.insanelym...howtopic=253767 Bootable USB Open Charmeleon Wizard Install Charmeleon latest build to your USB stick Once completed it's ready to be used. IMPORTANT!=(When using this to boot you will need to press enter so it loads mach_kernel into the userframe before it can load futher, it'll tell you to press any key to continue because mach_kernel is not found, but once you type bootflags and try to load again, it'll work.)

    Kernel Panic in Safe Mode

Hey guys! I somehow received this kernel panic upon boot. It happened after I removed NullCPUPowerManagement because I wanted to enable Native CPU power management. I was using a .aml file and it was in the /Extra folder. Unfortunately, I cannot even boot into safe mode to delete the file and put the NullCPUPowerManagement.kext file back. I get this kernel panic. Any ideas? Thanks. Larger Image:
