1. Help me Insanelymac you're my only hope! (7 days and counting!) So let me start out by admitting yes, I am running on a rather old build. That being said, everything runs 100% without issue, except the Ethernet...until I restart. My build is as follows Motherboard: EVGA P55V with BIOS 02.64 Processor: Intel i7 860 Graphics Card: XFX ATI Radeon HD 4890 Ram: 4GB DDR3 1600 Mhz (will be 16 by the end of the week) Network: 82578DC Intel The system has been running like a champ since 2009 on Snow Leopard. I have used it without issue since then, but decided it was time to get the rig up to date and decided to install Yosemite. I installed it using methods not to favorable on this site (I read up before posting), but it has worked for me in the past so I did it again. Everything worked as expected without kernel panic or other common issues found on these forums. That all being said, on initial start up I have no NIC. I am talking unrecognized hardware. Computer says there is no cable plugged in like it's an unrecognized card. As soon as I restart, BAM. Everything works perfect and the internet works without issue. Both AppleIntelE1000e.kext and IntelMausiEthernet.kext work, but I decided to go with Mausi (it appears to be faster). I have tried a multitude of things over the past several nights. DSDT edits, different FakeSMCs, Different boot flags, different kexts, changes to different plists including deleting the Network preference files. Everything I do has zero effect on fixing the ethernet. Enclosed are 4 pictures. Pre-Restart and Post-Restart show my IORegistry with the en0 magically showing up after restart. Fail is the console log when Ethernet fails to initialize on startup, Success is on the restart when it works. ANY assistance would be greatly appreciated. I am bashing my head in trying to solve this issue. I know the easiest solution would probably be just to buy a pcie card, but as I said, this works perfectly on restart AND worked without issue on Snow Leopard for years. Thanks in advance. 2. Hello everyone. I have updated my GTX 560 DC with a brand new EVGA GTX 660 Ti SC. Even though I try to set up my system, as I used to, I have a problem with the startup. As soon as the computer starts up to Mountain Lion, the screen turns black and it restarts. I tried to set "GraphicsEnabler=No" to boot.plist and I still have the same results. What do you think are the optimal settings on ###### for the GTX 660 Ti, in order to solve this problem? Is there any connection with the motherboard [Asus P8P67 Pro B3 ] I'm using? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot for your time, guys!
3. Ciao a tutti sto facendo una nuova installazione sulla macchina in firma, con M.L. 10.8.3 (dmg) usando Pandora 1.12 su USB l'opzione desktop 2 SMBIOS iMac12,2 e in seguito durante l'installazione del sistema: 1. FakeSMC.kext (tutti i plug in meno quello sulla GPU) 2. NullCPUPowerManagement.kext 3. VoodooHDA.kext 4. AtherosL1cEthernet.kext 5.
4. Greetings all! I am in need of some instructions on how you all have installed your 660 Ti, EVGA GTX 660 Ti SC in specific. I am no dummy when it comes to installation and troubleshooting, yet can not get my card working stable. I am seriously thinking of doing an RMA on the card. I don't want to, so before I do I will give it one last try. What I am looking for is: 1) Which AGPM GPU device plist do I use, and what edits (if any, besides adding my device ID) are needed? - I use Macmini6,2 SMBIOS with IGPU renamed to GFX0, and 680M plist from iMac13,2 renamed with device1183 2) Does Finder QuickLook work with your mp4 videos, and do HD videos in YouTube work alight? - This only works if I have IGPU enabled in BIOS, otherwise the image is all pink and blocky followed by a System freeze 3) I would also like to know if your games are working ok and not crashing/freezing - I am not looking for fps, just stability. I play only Diablo III, StarCraft 2, and WoW in OS X so your experience with any or all of them is appreciated. So far Finder and Safari freezes are rare; they usually happen when I have a GPU crash aka NVDA(OpenGL): Channel exception! exception type = 0xd = GR: SW Notify Error IOVendorGLContext::ReportGPURestart. Last year at this exact time, shortly after I upgraded to a 6870HD, I had, if I recall correctly, almost the same exact problems. I RMAd the card and all was working perfect after the replacement. This is why I don't want to RMA yet another card, and desperately need help.
5. well i successfully installed Mavericks using both ##### and lion disk maker but after it boots and gets to the desktop it just gives me the no signal. both ##### and lion disk maker results in no signal. i got the Mavericks as an update from a previous working version of 10.8 on the same desktop. i tried graphics enabler=no and cpus=1 but no luck. anyone with a gtx 760 got it working? im using triple screen and on 10.8 they all work perfectly. 6. I'm interested in building a Hack Pro with an SR-2 + dual 5649s. I'm pretty sure one can, with a lot of work, properly fit the gigantic SR-2 with GPUs, HDDs, SSDs, PSU, cooling etc. inside a G5 case. Pretty sure I've even seen modded G5s with SR-2s inside somewhere on the net. But what about the Mac Pro case. It seems a bit tighter: http://i45.tinypic.com/6tnzeu.jpg compared to the G5: http://i50.tinypic.com/72r8sk.jpg What do you think?
7. I've been working on getting a hackintosh installation going, but I've currently run into a snag with getting Yosemite 10.10.3 installed. (No Pictures, because I'm posting this right before class starts) What has been done Obtained a vanilla copy of OSX 10.10.3 via the AppStore with OSX Mavericks Created the installation media with "Something that isn't supported here"; Clover wouldn't work at all. Patched the kernel on the installation media to support the X99 platform (from the tonymac forum) Added VoodooTSCSync.kext to "Something that isn't supported here" in "/extra/extensions" Used Bootflags -v npci=0x2000 (Gets past verbose text; locks up on white screen w/ beachball; before the start of the installer is active.) Using nv_disable= 1 or 0 breaks loading. GraphicsEnabler=Yes / No doesn't seem to have any effect either. System Information Motherboard: MSI X99S SLI Plus CPU: Intel i7 5820k (not overclocked) RAM: 16GB DDR4 2133 Corsair Vengeance LPX GPU: EVGA GTX 780 3GB (ACX) (STOCK) 03G-P4-2782-KR Target Install Drive: OCZ Vertex 450 - 256GB SSD Other Drives: HGST 4TB 7200RPM Crucial MX100 - 256GB SSD (Windows 8.1 X64) WD 1TB Caviar Green - 5400RPM Seagate Momentus 250GB - 5400RPM (Ubuntu 14.10) Notes Each OS has their own bootloader, and is installed with all other drives not connected during installation. If anyone knows what needs to be done to get the system to get to the point of installation, feel free to reply.
8. Ever since DP4 and beyond my system would show me the boot logo and then once the system had started my dual monitors would lose signal and go to sleep. All the while the rest of the system continued to run. To get the system to boot completely I would take the NVDA*.kexts from DP1 and insert them into DP4 onto 10.10 GM Than came 10.10.1 and this no longer worked. BTW- I am using Chameleon as my bootloader What does work? This is what works for me: (FIRST- Backup your NVDA*.kexts AND geforce*.kexts from 10.10 GM) 1) Install 10.10.1 (from /Library/Updates/031-12265/OSXUpd10.10.1.pkg) -Software update will download the install pkg to here. I prefer not to update through SWUpdate. Installing via the pkg directly seems to go a little smoother. 2)DON'T REBOOT 3a)Use Kext Utility of your choice to install NVDA.Kexts (from DP1 found here: DP1 NVDA.zip ) AND geforce*.kexts (from 10.10 found here geforce 10.10.zip ) 3b)Use Kext Utility of your choice to install FakeSMC.kext AND any other system specific kexts you may need (audio, ethernet, trim, etc) 4. Rebuild Kext Cache ( sudo kextcache -m /System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kext.caches/Startup/Extensions.mkext /System/Library/Extensions ) 5.Reboot 6.Enjoy My system specs are as follows: GA-H61N-USB3 Rev.1 i5 2500k EVGA GT 640 2GB DDR3 Toshiba 256GB SSD Seagate 500GB HDD Western Digital 320 HDD ASUS 23" HDMI connected acer 20" DVI-D connected
9. Greetings, everyone, and thank you for taking the time to read my thread. I have a MSI H67A-G43 motherboard. I can install OS X and patch to 10.7.4 just fine, and using kexts I can get everything running. I suspect that by patching my DSDT I will be able to more cleanly utilize everything I have, and thus my adventure into DSDT patching. I've never patched a DSDT before, though through Google and browsing the forums here I've gathered an idea of how it works and why it is the preferred method of handling things. My question concerns the model of my motherboard, the MSI H67A-G43. My first question concerns my motherboard in particular and the differences between the MSI H67A-G43 and the P67A-643. They seem identical to me at first glance, save for the model number. Are they identical? Is there a difference? Google searching has netted no useful information. Secondly, I was unable to find any DSDT patches for either the H-series or P-series 67A-G43. How are DSDT patches made, and is this something I am able to do myself and upload to the community? What kind of tribulations are involved? Lastly, I am using a GeForce GTX 560 Superclocked from EVGA. I've noticed that my graphics are usually fluid until I open up Mission Control or go to look at my apps, opening a drawer thusly causing a lot of lag. I would suspect that my graphics card is very much powerful enough to handle these things, and the drop in FPS surprises me. Is there something else I can be doing to improve this situation? My FPS in games such as EVE Online is also astoundingly low, from 300+ FPS in Windows to ~20 in OS X. Other than that, everything runs amazingly well. If I can get around these two topics of interest I think I'll be set for some time to come. Thank you all in advance! EDIT: Also, of note, I'm reading http://www.tonymacx8...p?f=168&t=34494 and I see here he uses the GeForce DP4 driver bundle. I don't know what that is, but according to him his FPS issues were resolved through that. He uses an 8800 series card, where as I use the GTX 560 SC. Does anyone know if that may have an affect on my FPS issue? Again, I don't really know what the DP4 bundle is. EDIT 2: I did happen across this as well, http://www.tonymacx86.com/viewtopic.php?f=168&t=34494 -- I'll have to try that out to see how it goes. Will the DP4 bundle still be important? I'm still unsure what the DP4 bundle IS. Some more research (amazing how posting a thread makes you research things more deeply in the mean time) thew up this: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/285747-30-choosing-chipset-2600k Evidently they are the same exact board, but the H series doesn't support overclocking and the P series doesn't support integrated graphics. So ultimately I'm guessing they're the same?
