  1. I have: Intel Core i7 7700K 4.2 Ghz Gigabyte GA-Z270MX/Gaming 5 Samsung CF791 Series 34-Inch Curved Widescreen Monitor (C34F791) 3440x1440 4K Samsung U28E590D 28-Inch UHD LED-Lit Monitor with Freesync support 3840x2160 4K XFX AMD Radeon™ RX 580 8GB 256 Bit GDDR5 Graphics Card Both monitors are hooked up through Display Port Sierra works fine and I get full 4K off both monitors and everything works. However.... With High Sierra I can only boot into High Sierra with 1 of the monitors turned on. Whenever I turn on the 2 monitor everything freezes within High Sierra and screen goes gray. I can still see the desktop but can't click on anything. Anybody know what I can do to get both monitors working fully in 4K? Some Success ------------- After 2 days of constant testing with no luck. I think the problem has something to do with the AMD .kexts in S/L/E. When I copied the AMD .kexts from Sierra to High Sierra I got weird colors (red & blues flipped) and the 2nd monitor will go on and not lock up the computer Even though the method of copying kexts somewhat worked... It made the graphics choppy and everything was running slow (open windows and programs). Is there a FakeID (FB Name, NVCAP, VRAM, Video Ports, Display-cfg, ig-platform-id, BootDisplay) of some sort I can use in Clover to fix this? Kext? My clover config is attached if that helps anybody! Also... The 2 pictures attached are what happens. Boots with 1 monitor on. As soon as the 2nd monitor is turned on or plugged in... The working monitor goes black and everything stops responding. config.plist.zip
  2. Hi guys, managed it to Install Mountain Lion 10.8.3 on my PC. Just had to use the flags npci=0x2000 and PCIRootUID=1. But it does not boot after the installation (same flags as above) - it gets stuck at ACPI_SMC_Platformplugin and DSMOS does not arrive (look at screenshot). I've even tried -x etc, but it didn't work out. I've also tried to wait a bit longer, but the only thing that comes up is resettingIOCatalogue. MY Config is: Asus P6T SE Nvdia GTX 660 (non Ti) i7 920 i've used ermacs Mountain Lionizer http://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c?depth=1&hl=en&ie=UTF8&nv=1&prev=_t&rurl=translate.google.com&sl=it&tl=en&u=http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/276216-guida-usb-mountain-lion-automatizzata/&usg=ALkJrhhCHFFr6q62fAeiRvtgKGGlEyOLAg and i've chosen the smbios macPro 4,1 (because of nehalem etc etc) Maybe someone know how to help here?

    Need help figuring out hotkeys

I'm not able to get hotkeys working correctly in Clover. Running r4003, booting macOS Sierra and Windows 10. What I'm trying to do is have Clover boot automatically into macOS Sierra if the boot process is undisturbed or boot into Windows 10 if I hold the predetermined hotkey, say 'w'. So far, it's been iffy at best. I created a custom entry for Windows 10, and I can see it at boot, so I know at least that part is correct. However, I can no longer get the hotkey to actually boot Windows. All it does is cancel the timeout if one is set. If none is set, then hitting the hotkey does nothing. It worked once, and I have not been able to reproduce it. Ideally, I wouldn't even have to invoke the GUI. I have a RX 480 coming in tomorrow, and I'm trying to figure out a solution to a blind boot, aka not using anything requiring a screen, to change OSes. The only other workaround I have done is to use rEFInd's blind boot ability to choose between booting Clover->macOS and Windows. I don't like this solution, though, because it is clunky and requires checking 2 boot loaders should some issue arise. I have attached my config.plist so anyone can see if I just have something wrong in there. I use Clover Configurator for most things, but I use a traditional plist editor for some others. SMBIOS is iMac 17,1 - redacted for UUID reasons. For some reason, I can't upload the plist, so I converted it to text. Renaming it to '.plist' will allow you to view it, should you need, in a plist editor. Thanks for looking! config.txt

    Making Windows partition bootable

Hi The problem is the following: I have a mid 2012 27" iMac with no SuperDrive, and would like to install Windows using dual boot. I have an ISO image of Win7. I see there's an option in Boot Camp Assistant to install it via a USB Flash Drive, but I don't have one. Since I am sick I would have to order it online, and it would take maybe a week, and I'm a little impatient. I see there is an often recommended trick of installing Windows via VMWare to the physical disk, then switch the virtual machine off before it restarts, then restart the mac and boot into the new windows Volume. I don't have VMWare Fusion, but I tried it with VirtualBox instead. I then tried to set the startup volume to the new Windows partition, in System Preferences, and restarted, and got the following message: No Bootable Device --- press any key to continue... The message is taken from memory. So, I reckon there might be three ways from here: 1) Install rEFIt. I see almost all tutorials include this. I'm very squeamish about installing software that has low-level access and makes low-level changes to the system that might have consequences like the machine not booting at all. I'm not sure how much it changes the firmware etc., the stuff that I'm squeamish about. I also couldn't quite determine from the rEFIt/rEFInd websites whether it would solve my problem, and whether it would be necessary. 2) Try installing windows again via VirtualBox, but this time give VirtualBox access to the entire disk. Gulp! I'm squeamish about that too. Until now, I have only given it access to the partition where I want Windows installed, I suspect the Windows installer actually needs to put some boot code into the MBR records too. I suspect I would have to give it access to the entire physical disk for it to work. But, as I understand it, there is a trick that Mac OS X employs to make two partition map types work together. Perhaps there might be incompatibilities that won't be handled by installing Windows via VirtualBox, so that the entire disk could be ruined (or at least the partition tables). Therefore, I thought I'd ask here first. Here is the command I used to create the raw vmdk file for VirtualBox: sudo vboxmanage internalcommands createrawvmdk -filename ./raw_hd.vmdk -rawdisk /dev/disk0 -partitions 4 By removing the last bit "-partitions 4", I'd give it access to the entire disk. 3) Get VMWare Fusion, and install Windows via it instead, like the tutorials say? Perhaps VirtualBox just ain't up to the task? Or..... maybe I should just accept that squeamishness and hackishness don't go together, and order a USB flash drive online.... Partition Inspector from the rEFIt package (which I didn't install), says: *** Report for internal hard disk *** Current GPT partition table: # Start LBA End LBA Type 1 40 409639 EFI System (FAT) 2 409640 1815536839 Mac OS X HFS+ 3 1815536840 1816806375 Mac OS X Boot 4 1816807424 1953523711 Basic Data Current MBR partition table: # A Start LBA End LBA Type 1 1 409639 ee EFI Protective 2 409640 1815536839 af Mac OS X HFS+ 3 1815536840 1816806375 ab Mac OS X Boot 4 1816807424 1953523711 87 NTFS volume set MBR contents: Boot Code: None Partition at LBA 40: Boot Code: None (Non-system disk message) File System: FAT32 Listed in GPT as partition 1, type EFI System (FAT) Partition at LBA 409640: Boot Code: None File System: HFS Extended (HFS+) Listed in GPT as partition 2, type Mac OS X HFS+ Listed in MBR as partition 2, type af Mac OS X HFS+ Partition at LBA 1815536840: Boot Code: None File System: HFS Extended (HFS+) Listed in GPT as partition 3, type Mac OS X Boot Listed in MBR as partition 3, type ab Mac OS X Boot Partition at LBA 1816807424: Boot Code: Windows BOOTMGR (Vista) File System: NTFS Listed in GPT as partition 4, type Basic Data Listed in MBR as partition 4, type 87 NTFS volume set
  5. HI friends this is my first post here. I have read many guides about getting osx installed in a PC. But i have a very bizarre issue. My PC ( very old one ) System Manufacturer: HP-Pavilion System Model: GS166AA-ACJ a6230in BIOS: Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG Processor: Intel® Pentium® Dual CPU E2140 @ 1.60GHz (2 CPUs), ~1.6GHz Memory: 2560MB RAM MOBO : asus p5lp-le. The updates i made on my pc were - 1) RAM - increased from 1 GB to 2.5 GB. 2) GPU - Asus ENGTS450/DI/1GDDR5 ( earlier it was onboard intel 945G ) I have earlier installed Snow Leopard, but couldnt figure out Ethernet, audio etc ( some basic ), I used without internet for sometime again went to windows. My problem--- Before upgrading the GPU to ENGTS 450 i was able to do installation with distros and SL org copy. But now i again i wanted to install LIon, so i wanted to check iatkos l2, If installation was a failure- i would have been satisfied but i can't even get to the installation screen, i downloaded iatkos l2 and i changed the bios setting to SATA controller to AHCI , that is the only change i can do with my stupid MOBO. What i am getting is that cd boot init Cd..sectors verifying ( sorry i couldn't even note it down, it goes very fast 2 or 3 seconds ) ......... ......... again pc restarts and the same process is looping over and over, I have tried Niresh lion too , but with same result.......the cd boot thing is looping again and again. I have tried 4 different DVD brands, various Burn speed x2,x4......20-25 DVD's but no use i couldn't get past the looping sequence. . Dont consider me a troll, its just a kind request if anybody could help me ( not to install osx) atleast i could learn what the problem is ?
  6. So I was looking at my Macs (The real kind) and noticed something I hadn't paid attention to before and that being that using Clover on my Hackintosh with 10.10 or higher (I am using 10.11.4) we in Hackintosh land see a black background in the boot screen (Apple logo, progress bar) as opposed to the more Vanilla kind you get on a native Mac EFI (grey/white background) in the real deal. Is there any way to get that? And a little side note if there's a fix for native resolution within clover when it comes to my setup that'd be pretty nice to know (Samsung UD series 28" 4K/UHD monitor, Gigabyte Z97X-SLI mobo and GTX 970) Everyone loves a non stretched apple
