  2. Hi guys, Today, I tried to switch the SMBIOS to the MBA5,2 from MBP9,2 to try the PowerNap. When I online, Apple Locked my iCloud password and I have to reset it. But, the thing is that a years ago, I start Hackintosh with 10.11.5 and use the MBA5,2 SMBIOS like from the tutorial by Jake Lo from OSXLatitude. I have to reset the password many times, almost after every minor/major update. But when I switch to the MBP9,2 like Herve, Everything went well, Apple seem to accept it. So, I thought maybe Apple have a list of SMBIOS model that shouldn't be fake and a list that contain fake-acceptable? I'm not sure about it because it may caused by the Fake serial number? Anyway, Have a good day!
  3. Hi there, This guide will enable your Intel addon NIC (EXPI9301CT) to fully support the Apple drivers and behave like a native Apple NIC. I wanted a solution for my trusted Intel NIC without having to use any third party kexts to get it working and also wanted it to be fully UEFI compatible. So I researched a little and would like to share my results in this short guide. Caution: This guide will only work for Intel Desktop CT NICs with PCI device ID 10D3. Also I only used OSX Yosemite to verify the results, but it should work in Mavericks, too. 1) Optional: Remove third party kext for the NIC Please remove any other third party kext you may have installed for your Intel NIC. We do not want any conflicts here later on. 2) Create a bootable DOS USB drive I used Rufus Boot USB Disk with an Image of Win98 DOS bootfiles to create it under Windows. The original ISO for the Win98 DOS Boot files can be found here http://goo.gl/WOaQi (Windows 98 DOS Boot). Any other DOS compatible Boot environment should work, too. 3) Download Intel Preboot files PREBOOT.EXE from http://goo.gl/ppSRzo 4) Copy the necessary files to the USB drive Extract the the download and copy the following files the bootable DOS USB drive Copy BOOTIMG.FLB from PREBOOT\APPS\BootUtil Copy BootUtil.EXE from PREBOOT\APPS\BootUtil\DOS 5) Restart and boot from the USB-Stick You will temporarily have to change the UEFI-BIOS settings to be able to boot from a DOS environment. I had to set the following options: Legacy USB = Enable SecureBoot = Other FastBoot = Off 6) Flash the NIC with EFI-ROM After Booting from the DOS USB drive please use the following commands in the given order. Backup the original ROM BootUtil -SAVEIMAGE -FILE=Backup.FLB Enable flash write capability on NIC BootUtil -FE -ALL Update NIC with EFI-ROM BootUtil -UP=EFI -ALL -FILE=BOOTIMG.FLB 7) Change PCI device ID with ethtool Congratulations, your Intel NIC is now UEFI compatible and should already show up in your UEFI BIOS. We now will have to change the device ID from the NIC, so that OSX can use the native driver. Boot from a Linux Live Boot environment (e.g. Ubuntu) and change the PCI device ID from 10D3 to 10F6 with ethtool. Please ensure your Intel NIC is eth0. We do not want to patch any other NICs by mistake. sudo -s apt-get install ethtool ethtool -E eth0 magic 0x10D38086 offset 0x16 value 0x00 ethtool -E eth0 magic 0x10D38086 offset 0x17 value 0x00 ethtool -E eth0 magic 0x10D38086 offset 0x1A value 0xF6 8) Start OSX and enjoy your native Apple Intel NIC Reboot and don't forget to change the UEFI-Settings back from step 4 to their original values. After this you can start OSX and the NIC should be recognized. Windows will pick up the NIC without any problems, so no worries if you want to switch back to Windows sometime later on. Disclaimer: Please note, this procedure solved a very specific problem for me and the guide is certainly not perfect. I do not take any responsibility for anything that may go wrong if you follow it. I hope this guide may be useful for someone and please feel free to give any suggestions that may improve it. Cheers, Maroder

    Nuovi MacBook Air

  9. Hello Guys, Been wondering around a lot, tried loads of OSx86 projects but either I get the files damaged everytime or my Sony is not happy about it. Intel T7100 dual core Mobile Intel PM965 Express chipset 3GB ram NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GT Storage controller type: Serial ATA Wireless NIC: Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN For more info: http://reviews.cnet....7-32473931.html That's what I have, Which OSx86 project do you think it can work? Also if there is one that can work, can I install it from a USB Flash drive, because I have feeling my DVD Drive is the issue.
  10. I got a couple of used XServes for super cheap on eBay. I am going to use one as a VMWare Server for remote employees. The other will be a simple file server since I can do both SMB and AFP as opposed to our Win SBS 2011 server which can only do SMB. The one that will be for virtual machines I felt that I would need a little more power to handle the out of office employees. I bought a pair of Xeon e5345 CPUs for $40.00 on eBay and they certainly did the trick. Here are the before and after Geekbench results Before - http://browser.primatelabs.com/geekbench2/1814845 After - http://browser.primatelabs.com/geekbench2/1533559 Quite an improvement in my opinion. Went from four total cores to eight. As temps go; idle temps are around 35-42c. I also used Arctic Silver 5. OSX System Profiler does not recognize the CPU name. It gets the number of cores and speed right but it lists "Unknown" as the name. However, Geekbench and the virtual machines both see the CPU speed and name correctly. For $40 this was a great upgrade.

  13. Hello, I am trying to install Lion on this system: Asus P8Z68-V (not Pro) Intel i5-2400 Corsair 4GB 1333MHz RAM XFX Radeon HD6870 Black Edition 1GB Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB (Windows 7, Windows 8 Dev Preview and Ubuntu) Samsung 80GB (the HDD I want to install Lion on) (please ask if you need any more information and detail) So far I tried to install iATKOS L2 on my system. To do this I set up a Mac VM and then downloaded L2, restored the "sub-thing of the dmg" in Disk Utility to an 8GB USB stick that I formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Then I installed Chameleon RC5 onto the iATKOS L2 USB which made it bootable. I restarted my system and told it to boot from my USB. It went to the bootloader (I white Apple-ish screen with all my partitions and a place to write commands such as -v, -x etc......). I selected my USB and pressed Enter without typing any boot commands in. It stayed stuck on the Apple logo with the revolving thing under it and nothing happened. Back in the day when I had installed 10.5 this bit had taken a LONG time so I left it running for about 30 minutes thinking something will happen. Nothing did. So I tried again in Verbose mode and it got stuck here: (http://www.box.com/s...1yttlusep31eso3). I have also tried booting with Safe Mode and Safe Mode + Verbose and some other commands, but no luck. Then someone told me to use ####### so I am wondering if the installation will boot using ###### on the "Install Mac OS X Lion.app". I haven't tried it yet because its still downloading. Till then I wanted to understand what I am doing wrong because I did the iATKOS L2 process described above at least four times. Also, I want to know if there are any other methods for installing Lion on the system described above and also if the ###### method I am trying will work or not on the system specs described above. Thank You in advance, Whoosh PS: (please ask if you need any more information and detail)

iOS7 to be out in the next hours

The biggest change perhaps began when Apple senior industrial designer, Jonathan Ive, also took over iOS design, after former iOS chief designer Scott Forstall. This is big deal: it's the first time ever this happens in the Cupertino giant's realm. Never a designer had so much power in the company. Not coincidentally, iOS7 will be a departure from much we know about iOS. Expect a less skeuomorphic, more flat design. Ironically, something in the lines Microsoft has been doing for a while with its Windows Phone user interface. (http://news.cnet.com/8301-13579_3-57603350-37/behold-jonathan-ives-apple/) Developers will have to adapt, and this adaptation period could lead to some trouble and this is a thing Apple should be a lot concerned with: since Android consolidated itself as serious competition - and market-share leader after that - one of the most heralded advantages of iOS devices to their usually cheaper Android alternatives was the solid rock stability of iOS, at the expense of user and developer's control of the environment. iOS has been up to now a safe and joyful garden with huge walls. Will costumers be willing to be inside this walls if it becomes not so safe and joyful? I don't think so, and neither do Apple, so they released tight rules for the App Store concerning the new iOS: in a few words, the apps which cannot adapt will be left out. I'm sure most developers had plenty of time to make the necessary changes with the various iOS7 betas, but it won't be surprising if a significant number of apps seem to be a little rushed out. (http://gigaom.com/2013/09/14/why-ios-7-forced-developers-to-redesign-their-apps-for-experienced-smartphone-users/) So, we're all waiting. It will be exciting? It will be frustrating? Today we'll know.
  17. Apple has sent letters to resellers across Europe informing them to place their final orders for Mac Pro machines by February 18th as Apple will no longer be selling the professional towers from March 1st onwards in Europe. The reason behind the unusual move by Apple is due to the aging Mac Pro failing to meet an un-specified criteria from Amendment 1 of Regulation IEC 60950-1; an international safety standard for electrical equipment. This could be taken as either good or bad news for the fate of the relatively neglected Mac Pro: naysayers could argue that this is the beginning of the end of the Mac Pro as Apple prepares to wind up production, and other territories may follow in ceasing sales of the high-end Mac. However, far more likely it's a simple case of Apple having something else up its sleeve later this year as already promised by Tim Cook in an e-mail, coupled with the fact that it doesn't really affect Apple given the Mac Pro is such a niche product in its line-up these days and we're only talking about the European market, not the whole world. Check out the letter from Apple to its European resellers:
