  1. Hey All, I'm new here so please go easy on me A little background: I need to run 10.6 as I still need to use older OSX apps (I make music and a few of my apps will only run <10.6) My specs are: ASUS P8P67 PRO (2103) 8Gb Kingston Hyper-X DDR3 @ 1833 i7 2600K O/C to 4.7 Barracuda 500Gb Ok, so I have done the following: Used a combination of the "other" boot cd called "Legacy" and the Andyboot cd found on this board to install base 10.6. Updated to 10.6.7 using combo update. Installed the "other" bootloader, then the P8P67PRO driver package from the same place as the Andyboot cd. Played around with the chameleon.org.boot.plist file until my grahics came back (from 10.6.4 to 10.6.7 my 8800GT 1Gb was only being recognised as a 16Mb Nvidia card). Tried to get sound and firewire recognised to no avail. So, I am now at 10.6.7 with my CPU being correctly ID'd (only the i7 bit, not the speed) and being able to boot with no CD (this took weeks of pain ) I have tried re-applying the Andy drivers but it doesn't make a difference. I have a couple of questions still: 1. Can I have an idiot-proof guide to geting my sond working please I know it's an ALC 892 . I've tried both the Andy drivers and the he "other" site but to no avail. It still says no sound device (not a game stopper as I am going to stick a PCI-E MOTU FW audio card in (anyone used this is a Hackintosh yet?) 2. How do I get the FW port seen by System Profiler? It shows up as a network device so I know the system sees it (again, not a huge biggie but I'd like it to work) Also, I'd like to update to 10.6.8 but seem to remember reading it breaks some stuff (like APCI kexts etc)..I have run the "update helper" from the "other" Hackintosh site and rebooted, but wouldn't mind some advice before I pull the update trigger Should I install the official NVIDIA drivers for this graphics card? Lastly, does anyone know if I will be able to get a NVIDIA GTX480 working in 10.6? I read somewhere that it will work in >10.7 but you need the CUDA drivers..as I say above, I don't want 10.7 (already runnig it on a MacPro hence my need to "downgrade" to 10.6 Thanks in advance and happy to screendump any logs etc All the best jake
  2. Got OSX Mavericks installed using Clover and pretty much everything working except for the graphics. I can boot fine using: (i know the string is flipped but this is my point) <key>FakeID</key> <dict> <key>IntelGFX</key> <string>0x80860416</string> </dict> And <key>Graphics</key> <dict> <key>Inject</key> <dict> <key>Intel</key> <true/> </dict> <key>ig-platform-id</key> <string>0D220003</string> </dict> You can see here that the vendor id and device id are swapped: But if I change it to 0x04168086 (the correct one) from 0x80860416 (flipped ven. and dev.) then I get a black screen when trying to load the login screen. I pretty much have a fully working system except for the graphics not loading properly. I've tried to force load the frame buffer and intel kexts and still no luck. String with 0x0 also yields the same result. It is very strange that it will only boot using the incorrect string for the graphics. I've tried 0416 and 0412 for device but no luck. Any ideas? I am using a 4790K on ASUS Sabertooth Z87 using the HDMI port. config.plist.zip
  3. Hello, guys. I’m writing to You as a more experienced and knowledgeable. And I ask for Your help in solving the following question: It’s need to build a efficient hackintosh mod to work with graphics (2D, 3D, graphic renders and so on). Budgets: 6000$ Specs: Motherboard - ASUS Z9PE-D8 WS CPUs – 2xXeon E5-2630 or 2xXeon E5-2670 GPUs – 2 way SLI Nvidia GTX Titan (In the future it’s planned to expand to 3 way SLI) Questions: Is this motherboard good for hackintosh? Or there are a better motherboards? What can you advise to buy? There is a official CUDA GTX Titan drivers for Mac OS. How do you think if 2 way SLI or 3 way SLI works at hakintosh? Is it better to buy the native Nvidia GPU for best compatibility with Mac OS? Or no difference? For example, can I buy the overlock GPU Titan other manufacturers (ASUS, EVGA and so on)? Should I buy RAM more than 1600 Mhz bacause the motherboard supports up to 2133 Mhz (non-registered memory) and up to 1866 Mhz (registered memory)? Whether does Mac OS support 16 Gb one module RAM? (the motherboard supports up to 256 Gb registered memory). Please, help me. Thanks for your time and attention!
  4. Hey guys, So, right now I've got a Gigabyte GA-B85-HD3 motherboard. And...recently I've got a new monitor (a Dell 25" 2560x1440) and I have some compatibility issues between the UEFI on this motherboard and CSM. Basically when it's disabled, I can't boot into BIOS or select another drive to boot from. The monitor just throws an error saying that I should select resolution 2560x1440, 60Hz. And after about 30 seconds it automatically boots into Windows 10. Yeah, I've got Windows, as well. Not sure why is it booting into Windows and not Clover/OS X. Anyway, so I contacted Gigabyte and they said they redirected my request to the appropriate department and if an update tot eh BIOS will be released, they'll let me know. Which can very well mean that this will never happen. So, I start looking for other options. And, someone recommended me the Asus Z97-K (although I would prefer the Z97-C, if I had to go with a Z97 chipset in the first place, due to the 7.1 audio, compared to 5.1 on the -K variant). I also found an MSI board I really like: https://www.msi.com/product/motherboard/Z97S-SLI-Krait-Edition.html#hero-overview. What do you guys think about this one? Anyway, question is: would you recommend this board for a hackintosh? Are there any known issues with Asus boards in general or with this one in particular? I checked the audio codec and that should be ok, and also the LAN chipset should be fine in terms of compatibility. But I don't know what else to look for. Any ideas? What about the MSi board? And also, would you recommend a Z97 chipset in the first place, considering my CPU is non overclockable and there are no chances in the near future for me to buy an unlocked CPU? Not because I wouldn't want it, but because I don't really need it. Also, to take an unlocked CPU and not overclock it (while also getting some proper cooling), looks like a waste to me. And for a non-gamer like myself, I'm not sure I'll ever need an overclockable CPU. So what do you guys think? Looking forward to your reply. Thank you very much. Update: For anyone wondering, I bought the MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition motherboard. And everything works fine, hackintosh-wise. The only thing I had to check in my config was KernelPM. Otherwise the system would just reboot. @Mods, you can close this thread, if you want. Thank you!
  5. After several attempts, I have successfully installed Mavericks on ASUS Z87-K, with everything working, in order, with a GPT partition. Configuration: ASUS Z87-K motherboard Core i7 (4770) nVidia 650 Ti Steps: 1. Prepare the installation flash drive, using myHack - (using an existing Mac or Hackintosh, with Mavericks app [or] installESD.dmg); choose default options for most myHack prompts. Choose No for MBR Patch prompt. 2. Get the mach_kernel file from this thread: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/293503-haswell-early-reboot-mavericks-locked-msrs-and-hp-envy-15-j063cl-i7-4700mq/ 3. Overwrite the mach_kernel on the installation flash drive using the mach_kernel downloaded. 4. Boot with the USB flash drive. At the Chameleon prompt, select the USB flash drive and type GraphicsEnabler=No -v 5. After landing in the Mavericks installation screen, select the language and select Utilities->Disk Utility. Create a GPT partition in the target drive and erase the partition using Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format. Make sure this is the primary partition and Boot is enabled for the partition. 6. Exit the Disk Utility. Install Maverics. 7. Once the installation is complete, dont press restart. Click Utilities->Terminal. cd to /Volumes/<your_flash_drive_name> 8. Execute this from terminal: cp mach_kernel /Volumes/<your_target_drive_name>/ 9. Exit terminal. Allow restart (or restart from menu). 10. Boot using the flash drive again. At the Chameleon prompt, select your target drive and type GraphicsEnabler=No -v 11. Complete name, password and other start-up formalities. 12. Once in OSX home screen, double click on myHack app (in the Application folder, in Finder). Choose - Install Chameleon Boot Loader and select your target drive. (myHack would have done this already, during installation - but it is a bit hit and miss!). 13. Download Realtek 8111 kext from here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/files/file/88-realtekrtl8111-binaryzip/ 14. Use Kext Utility/Kext Wizard to install Realtek 8111 kext 15. Use Chameleon Wizard to install MacPro 5.1 profile (SMBIOS) 16. To get the audio working, use this: (or) use Mul___st. 17. Edit /Extra/Org.chameleon.Boot.plist using TextEdit and change GraphicsEnabler=No (default is Yes) Thats all. You can remove the flash drive and boot to your new OSX drive. Everything should be working. Good Luck!
  6. I recently received an HP Pavilion A6400f with the ASUS IPIBL-LB mobo. My brother keeps telling me to get a Mac so I thought I'd try to make a hackintosh using OSx Lion since both are from the same era. So far, all I've found are tutorials that all say "first get such and such from a previous install of OSx". If I had a previous install or access to a Mac I wouldn't need to try making a hackintosh. So, any suggestions or guidance? Hopefully, once I get OSx on, I'll be able to install Linux Mint and multiboot. Clover EFI on ASUS K61IC

    Hi guys i have a working OSX 10.9 on my ASUS K61IC. All work fine but i need to update my iLife and iWork suite. I actually use Chameleon and i need to install Clover EFI. I tried Clover v.2236 on a USB stick but there was some problem: After the bootloader load it didn't see the partition on my internal HD. (if i connect the drive as external with an usb cable it work) When i tried to boot Mavericks it show an error "0x07" for loading mach_kernel. I attach my clover configuration. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>Boot</key> <dict> <key>Timeout</key> <integer>5</integer> <key>Arguments</key> <string>npci=0x2000 -v slide=0</string> <key>DefaultVolume</key> <string>MacHDD</string> <key>Log</key> <false/> <key>Fast</key> <false/> <key>XMPDetection</key> <string>-1</string> <key>Legacy</key> <string>PBR</string> </dict> <key>KernelAndKextPatches</key> <dict> <key>Debug</key> <false/> <key>KernelCpu</key> <false/> <key>AsusAICPUPM</key> <true/> <key>AppleRTC</key> <true/> <key>KextsToPatch</key> <array> <dict> <key>Name</key> <string>AppleAHCIPort</string> <key>Comment</key> <string>External icons patch</string> <key>Find</key> <data>RXh0ZXJuYWw=</data> <key>Replace</key> <data>SW50ZXJuYWw=</data> </dict> </array> </dict> <key>ACPI</key> <dict> <key>HaltEnabler</key> <false/> <key>DSDT</key> <dict> <key>Debug</key> <false/> <key>Name</key> <string>DSDT.aml</string> <key>Fixes</key> <dict> <key>AddDTGP_0001</key> <true/> <key>FixDarwin_0002</key> <true/> <key>FixShutdown_0004</key> <true/> <key>AddMCFG_0008</key> <false/> <key>FixHPET_0010</key> <true/> <key>FakeLPC_0020</key> <false/> <key>FixIPIC_0040</key> <true/> <key>FixSBUS_0080</key> <true/> <key>FixDisplay_0100</key> <true/> <key>FixIDE_0200</key> <false/> <key>FixSATA_0400</key> <false/> <key>FixFirewire_0800</key> <true/> <key>FixUSB_1000</key> <true/> <key>FixLAN_2000</key> <true/> <key>FixAirport_4000</key> <true/> <key>FixHDA_8000</key> <true/> </dict> </dict> <key>DropTables</key> <array> <dict> <key>Signature</key> <string>DMAR</string> </dict> <dict> <key>Signature</key> <string>SSDT</string> <key>TableId</key> <string>CpuPm</string> </dict> </array> <key>SSDT</key> <dict> <key>Generate</key> <dict> <key>PStates</key> <true/> <key>CStates</key> <true/> </dict> <key>PLimitDict</key> <integer>0</integer> <key>UnderVoltStep</key> <integer>0</integer> <key>MinMultiplier</key> <integer>8</integer> </dict> </dict> <key>DisableDrivers</key> <array> <string>Nothing</string> </array> <key>RtVariables</key> <dict> <key>MountEFI</key> <true/> <key>LogLineCount</key> <integer>3000</integer> <key>LogEveryBoot</key> <string>10</string> </dict> <key>GUI</key> <dict> <key>TextOnly</key> <false/> <key>Language</key> <string>en:0</string> <key>Theme</key> <string>applestyle</string> <key>Mouse</key> <dict> <key>Enabled</key> <false/> <key>Speed</key> <integer>0</integer> </dict> <key>Hide</key> <array> <string>Windows</string> <string>\EFI\BOOT\BOOTX64.EFI</string> </array> <key>Scan</key> <dict> <key>Entries</key> <true/> <key>Tool</key> <true/> <key>Legacy</key> <true/> </dict> </dict> <key>Devices</key> <dict> <key>Inject</key> <false/> <key>Audio</key> <dict> <key>Inject</key> <string>No</string> </dict> <key>FakeID</key> <dict> <key>ATI</key> <string>0x0</string> <key>IntelGFX</key> <string>0x0</string> <key>NVidia</key> <string>0x0</string> <key>SATA</key> <string>0x0</string> <key>WIFI</key> <string>0x0</string> <key>LAN</key> <string>0x0</string> <key>XHCI</key> <string>0x0</string> </dict> <key>USB</key> <dict> <key>Inject</key> <true/> <key>FixOwnership</key> <true/> <key>AddClockID</key> <true/> </dict> </dict> <key>SystemParameters</key> <dict> <key>InjectSystemID</key> <true/> </dict> <key>Graphics</key> <dict> <key>Inject</key> <dict> <key>Intel</key> <false/> <key>ATI</key> <false/> <key>NVidia</key> <false/> </dict> <key>PatchVBios</key> <false/> </dict> </dict> </plist> I need to know how to fix the 0x07 error but if someone know how to fix the HD error i'm more happy .
  8. I installed VMware Workstation 8 on my ASUS N71JQ laptop and emulate MAC OSX Lion. Everything is working fine. However, when I try and use gestures (three finger upswipes or left and right) there is no response. I can use the trackpad for normal movement and two finger scrolling but when I go to Preferences it says there is no trackpad found. My ASUS has the ability to detect multiple fingers (three at least) and so I was wondering if there was anyway to carry this ability into my emulated OS X.

    Elan Touchpad Driver

Latest There is another work on the same topic in tonymacx86, http://www.tonymacx8...er-mac-osx.html I will have a try tonight or later. Note: they released kexts for Lion and Mountain Lion, source code in https://github.com/EMlyDinEsHMG/ElanTouchpad-Driver/ Status Just started, very beginning(yes, I mean not much functions work by now). For V3, single finger movement and taptoclick should work. It's a development thread for now, not for final end users! If you want to help this topic, please join! Target This thread is focused on Elan touchpad(at least for ASUS laptops), not for others. Code Code Base: https://github.com/AppleLife/VoodooPS2 (Thanks Slice, THe KiNG, AndyV and all people who contributed to VoodooPS2) Relative talk: http://www.projectos...?showtopic=1937 My repo: https://github.com/liangqi/VoodooPS2/ My change: https://github.com/l...21f16bd0dd3e1a5 Note: this change will allow people to build code on 10.7 + Xcode 4.4 and 10.8 + Xcode 4.4, but I only tested the VoodooPS2ElanTrackpad.kext on 10.8. Need someone to verify whether it works on 10.7 or not. Reference Elan linux driver: Documentation: elantech.txt http://git.kernel.or...ech.txt;hb=HEAD event-codes.txt http://git.kernel.or...des.txt;hb=HEAD Source code: elantech.h http://git.kernel.or...ntech.h;hb=HEAD elantech.c http://git.kernel.or...ntech.c;hb=HEAD input.h http://git.kernel.or...input.h;hb=HEAD Elan freebsd driver: freebsd.zip, got from akbar102 check attachment now, will update as links when I found By now, I think linux driver is better than freebsd one. Environment My work env: 10.8.1 + Xcode 4.4.1 / 10.7.4 + Xcode 4.4 My test env: 10.8.1 + Xcode 4.4.1 Laptop: ASUS A43SV/K43SV Finished please check the commit msg in above link of "My change". Todo 1. at least by now, we found Apple hasn't released any api for multitouch device, you could find this, /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MultitouchSupport.framework/ 2. then what we could do for now, only provide functions which are in IOHIPointing, you can consider it is a mouse device. I will try 2 fingers taptoclick for right button click, and 2 fingers scroll for h/v scroll 3. we should use the settings in System Preferences/TrackPad, at least the "Tracking Speed" 4. 11. Hey, I want to use 7 drives on my ASUS X Hero MB. The MB supports up to 6 SATA drives, and also has 2 M.2 slots, so I thought it was possible to run at least 7 drives. Apparently, it isn´t that easy. I have a Samsung 850 EVO MZ-N5E500BW M.2 drive that I use as boot drive. It´s a SATA drive, and from what I can read, using a SATA drive in the M.2 slot will either disable one or two of the other SATA slots, depending on which type of M.2 setup you choose. So now I can only use a total of SIX slots in the machine for storage, which is a huge bummer, since I need the extra SSD drive. I can of course connect the extra SSD drive via an adapter and use an external USB port, but that´s a very impractical solution. QUESTION: Can anyone tell me if it´s possible to somehow connect 7 drives to my ASUS X Hero MB? (Buying a new PCIE M.2 drive is not an option, since the M.2 drive I have is the boot drive, and I don´t wanna F around with cloning, replacing etc) Thanks in advance!

    Mountain Lion ASUS EAH6670/DIS/1GD5

Hello everyone, I need a wee bit of help getting this card to function completely. It is a ASUS HD6670 1GB DDR5 with 1 DVI-D, 1HDMI, and 1 DVI-D. Currently it is detected as a AMD Radeon HD6xxx 1024MB. As far as I can tell I do not have a framebuffer loaded. I have tried using AtiConfig= Pithecia, Lotus, Ipomoea, and Pondweed. As from the best i can figure they are from the 6000 kext and have 3 connectors. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Questo è sicuramente il file più importante per questa macchina (Asus F550CC) poiché abilita tutta una serie di specifiche altrimenti fatali all'avvio e al funzionamento corretto dell'Hackintosh.

  20. Hello, so for the past month and a half or so, I've been attempting to get OSX Mavericks/Yosemite to work on my laptop and desktop. I've since moved on to just my desktop and using OSX Yosemite since it seems they both have the most suppot between one another, especially given my laptop is also an AMD system with "Dual Graphics"(yeah I know, it was a bad decision in retrospect). Moving on, I know I'm new here, but I have been a PC enthusiast for 2 years now, so I have extensive knowledge on software and hardware. So I'll go ahead and get started with listing my system specs and then move onto my issues. My Specs: AMD FX 8350 4.0Ghz CPU MSI Radeon R9 290 4GB 512-bit GPU ASUS M5A97 R2.0 Motherboard Radeon R9 4X4GB 2133Mhz Gaming RAM Corsair HX850 Gold Rated PSU Samsung 840 EVO 250GB SSD(Windows OS), WD Black 3TB Performance Drive(Games & Personal Files), WD Caviar Blue 320GB laptop drive(OSX Yosemite), LG Blu-Ray Drive(currently unused while attempting to get OSX to work) Logitech 5.1 surround sound speakers Alright, so now that's out of the way, let me explain what has happened thus far. Since I've started attempting this, I've moved on to OSX Yosemite using the Niresh distro because it's the only thing I know that supports AMD chips(if there's a better method let me know, especially with a legal copy, I'm all for it since OSX is only like $30). I can boot Yosemite with just the flags "/amd" and "-v" no problem, go through the install and get Yosemite up and running using either Chameleon OR Clover. However, as many others have these same issues, I cannot get my graphics card or audio to work properly. With an all-in-one network driver from the Niresh site, I can get internet access no problem, but it's pretty much impossible to navigate Safari thanks to all the graphics artifacts and extremely slow rendering from the "3MB" of video memory that I can extract lol. I have a set of graphics kexts that have been designed by Deepak(a member which I believe I saw is also a part of this forum) specifically for my graphics card, but whenever I install them and then repair the permissions and cache, nothing seems to change. This goes for both Chameleon and Clover configurations, I even tried the FakeID configuration with Clover using the original kexts and the modified kexts, still nothing. I will say this though, when I do use Clover, my graphics card is recognized in the Clover configuration before booting into OSX, however the card is not utilized, at least to its potential. The reason I say this is because after messing around with a few things(of which I can't remember currently) I noticed the graphics rendering quicker and the mouse would move a bit smoother, meaning I was getting more graphics power through to the system. However, I've since bricked the system after about the 15th attempt to fix this issue, so I'm pretty much at a loss here. As for the audio, I have installed a similar all-in-one package for audio drivers from the Niresh site, but none of them seem to work as I still get plenty of feedback from my speakers. I doubt anyone can give me exact step by step instructions on what I need to do here, but perhaps I'm missing something? I've noticed that there's some kexts for something called QE/CI but I've yet to try and install them to see if that changes anything, I read up on what they are and what issues that might cause but it seems that's probably not the answer in my opinion. Any help/insight is definitely appreciated, hopefully somebody can help me with this.
  21. Hey guys, I recently installed SL on my AMD machine (specs below) using the ModCD+Retail method. Everything went without a hitch and I was even able to get dual monitors working (eventually) on 5830 without QE/CI. However, I have a weird problem that when i restart the system the same display is shown on both screens, even though it's in extended and not mirrored mode. The only way I can get around this is by modifying behaviour on boot (Graphics strings, change cable, etc). If I boot using Chameleon and a single monitor it crashes and reboots just before the desktop comes up. Just wondering if anyone else has encountered this and if there is a simple fix? Thanks. 22. Hi Guys, i need your help. I just cant find the right ethernet drivers for my Mainboard. Can someone help me please to find them. PS: i am a noob
  23. Hi InsanelyMac's community ! I hope your going well ! I send this message to request your help ^^. Indeed, I installed OSX Mountain Lion on my ASUS X53SV. And it works pretty well ! I was all the more astonished since all the components were recognized by kexts in this site ! (If you put a little investment of yourself, you will get there ! All it takes to make this manipulation is in this site It's worth it !) Well, almost of these components worked well … The only issue is my wireless, my webcam and my USB 3.0. I tried to install these kexts corresponding but in vain. Futhermore, I recieved a kernel panic one time in two when I want to boot up my "Hybrid" computer, and I don't know why :/ Also, I have a freeze who they tell me to reboot my computer without knowing why. Like, I'm playing the Russian roulette in going on my PC ! So if anybody who have a solution of these issues, I would take it cheerfully ! Thanking you in advance, Sincerely yours, RyuujiX P.S : I attached the kernel panic that I see when I boot my PC :
Grazie in anticipo
