  5. Hi guys, crazy problem. so, i can boot from NVME. but not if Thunderbolt card is plugged in. screen just goes black when apple logo would normally show up, then desktop. it just stops. I can boot from normal SSD, and be able to mount the NVME (non-booting), and use Thunderbolt, but i want to be able to boot from the NVME and use Thunderbolt. I've tried putting the Thunderbolt card in different slots, and that hasn't been helping so far. Might there be any Clover flags perhaps, that could fix this? or any other solution? Donation for working solution! my config: 5960X X99-A Yosemite Clover ThunderboltEX II Samsung 950 Pro NVME SSD
  6. Hello everyone, I have a new build and really want to install OS X Yosemite on it. Build is as follows Asrock x99 OC Forumla mobo Intel i7 5960x (OC'd to 4.4) 64gb Dominator platinum DDR4 Asus GTX 980ti strix I am using my MacPro to create the boot USB with a competing installer (5.2.0). Everything copys fine then I add the Kernal extensions for the 8 core processor. Then I boot from USB on the PC and I get into the competing boot screen but I only have Windows reserved and NTFS options available from my other hard drive. I am not given an option to boot into OS X. I have checked pretty much every guide online for the X99 install and 5960x and followed all steps to the tee but to no avail. I hope someone has an answer for this. Thank you all for your time and expertise. Brock
  7. Hi guys, So I just installed Yosemite on my 5960X/X99 Deluxe combo, booting with Clover. I'm getting no video through monitors. Right now i'm accessing the desktop through Apple Remote Desktop. GPU is GTX 650 Ti. It has 2 DVIs & i think a mini HDMI. whatever that port is, i don't have a cable for it. This card worked perfectly fine with Mavericks & Chameleon. But i'm trying to get it to work in Yosemite with Clover. I've tried it both with and without the nVidia web drivers, & with nv_disable=1 as well as nvda_drv=1, to no avail. Any suggestions? Is it a BIOS setting? a kext i need? a Clover setting? I've attached my config.plist. For the solution that works I will donate to this site and to the cause of helper's choice. config.plist.zip
  8. Over the past month I've come across multiple postings about this, but really wanted to begin to dig deep to try and understand what the next steps, if any, could be in solving this scenario: Getting El Capitan running semi-stable on X99 with a 5960X 8-core Processor. I think that there are plenty of us out there based on passed posts/responses by Stinga11 (respect), Rampage Dev (respect), and even heavy hitters getting involved such as Pike R. Alpha, Toleda (respect respect) etc... So I myself am NOT a coder, programmer or UNIX guru BY ANY MEANS, but can follow directions well and am open to helping in any way I can. I'm hoping this thread will attract those than can actually do some good for 5960X users. From what I understand it's the fact that the rollback AppleACPIPlatform.kext from 10.9.5 is causing the issue and cannot be prelinked with the current El Capitan kernel. Does this mean we have to wait for Apple to add support for X99/C612 chipsets? Anyone with insight on this issue from a technical perspective would be greatly appreciated by any/all 5960X owners.
  9. Hello after days of work, i want to install Yosemite on a MSI x99s Gaming 9 ACK with i7 5960X and 980ti. 10. Hello everyone, for a few days now I have been trying to install Yosemite on my PC. My build. Motherboard: Asus X99-A CPU: Intel 5960X Memory: Crucial 32GB DDR4 Graphics: MSI GTX 760 2GB I have tried all the install methods, read countless different forums and youtube videos but still no luck. I have tried X99 DMG method with Clover, no luck. I have tried Beast method, nothing works. I cannot get passed the installer, either it gets stuck on PCI configuration or with Clover it restarts. I don't understand whats wrong. I have tried several guides on here too. Another problem I am having is I can't disable CSM in my bios, when I restart it says my graphics card isn't supported and automatically enables CSM again. Can someone please help me with proper steps for my system. Thank You
  11. Hi All, I have a problem with getting Thunderbolt 2 PCI-Card working on this board. Here is what I have and have done so for. I build a rig with these combination in Januari this year also with the same mobo but with different GPU en CPU. At that time a had the i7-5930K 6-core with a GTX 970. It was pretty easy to get that build running using Clover, Kernel-patch an Nvidia drivers. Al I did was install OSX on a real Mac (10.10.2 at that time) and installed the necessary kext for this 6core with help of Rampagedev's X99.dmg Stinga's way and so on. Even with Clover I never had the OsxAptiodrv memory error so I was pretty happy with that. I sold it so I don't have it anymore. Now I have X99-UD4 with i7-5960X the 8-core with a GTX780 and setting it up with Clover was pretty easy again. But then when I placed the TB-card I get the OsxAptiodrv memory allocation error. So I struggled for week to get this fixed within Clover as I don't want to use Chameleon. But no matter what I try or do I never got past the errors. So finally I decided to use chameleon and used the same kexts and patches and got it also easily running. But now I can't get TB working. In windows it is working fine with my TB-to-ethernet adapter but OSX will not see it or use it. I have GPU in PCI-slot-1 and have TB in slot-3, I have tried it in slot-2 as well as Gigabyte recommends these two slots. I have CMS disabled, I have security settings to legacy, no other changes. With these settings windows won't see my TB-ethernet adapter. If I set security to Unique ID it shows my adapter again in windows. But no matter what I try in OSX it is never shown or seen. I'm getting these errors in console: Jun 27 03:55:46 localhost kernel[0]: kxld[com.apple.driver.AppleThunderboltNHI]: The following symbols are unresolved for this kext: Jun 27 03:55:46 localhost kernel[0]: kxld[com.apple.driver.AppleThunderboltNHI]: __ZN11IOPCIDevice17setTunnelL1EnableEP9IOServiceb Jun 27 03:55:46 localhost kernel[0]: Can't load kext com.apple.driver.AppleThunderboltNHI - link failed. So it looks like a software issue but I just don't know how to solve this. My question is: Does anyone have a working TB card on this board with the same CPU? If so could you share bios setting and maybe used kext sambas and so on? I running F10 or F11 or F12 or F13b it does not matter. MP 5.1, iMac 14.2 or MP 3.1 does not make any different. So please If anyone can point me in the right direction? It would make me very happy!
  12. I have finally purchased my components for my new audio production rig: Mobo: Asus x99 Deluxe - I have just updated the bios to latest version - 1601 CPU: 5960x Ram: Corsair Vengeance 16 Gb 4x4Gb 2666 Mhz PSU: Corsair Ax1200i Case: Corsair Obsidian 750D CPU cooler: Fractal Design S36 SSD Samsung 850 EVO 250 Gb Graphics: either an old Nvidia 9600 Gt or an even older 8600 Gt - they work perfectly on my x58a build in Mountain Lion and Yosemite. Installed windows on the ssd drive just to make sure that everything works fine. I had an older clean Hdd with a beasted Yosemite install on it - inserted it, used all the flags that I have found around with no succes - stuck on the PCI ROOT error. Created several Yosemite USB stick installers, using Rampage Dev Method. In bios, when I disable CSM, I got a warning and when I try to boot I get this error, with both Nvidia 8600 GTS and 9600 GT in slot pci 1 (even though they both work on my x58a build): "The Vga card is not supported by UEFI driver" CSM have been changed for better compatibility. - it re-enables itself at the next reboot. The "Other Os" remains selected, though. - see Pic 1 If i continue with booting from the usb stick, I got the graphics from pic2 & pic3. Pressing enter or spacebar on any of the verbose or boot without cache variants give me the "Error loading kernel cache error. Boot Failed sleeping for 10 seconds before exiting" error, as seen in pic 4. Trying to boot from the ##### Yosemite installation done on my x58a rig just hangs at the apple logo. Please help, I can't figure out what should I do next. Thank you so much for your time!
  13. After further review, I'm convinced the test2.efi method is the best way to go no matter what system you are using. If it doesn't work for some reason, put your boot drive in sata port 1, boot another system, mount the efi on sata1 drive. Delete the efi folder. do a clean install of latest clover..drop in your appropriate files. (see below for full history....) 5/23/16 ---- Edit: So, I've discovered, after much forum hunting and seeing other user's experiences, my original issue turns out to be an issue with having additional PCI cards installed. I'm sure my MOTU audio pci & thunderbolt PCI are the causes.... By adding the the test2.efi file from the below link to clover, I can boot from any menu! Credit to Nick Woodhams. https://nickwoodhams.com/x99-hackintosh-solving-osxaptiofixdrv-allocaterelocblock-can-not-allocate-relocation-block/ This is an X99 firmware problem known by the developers, and they have yet to make a good solution. Talked about extensively here: https://sourceforge.net/p/cloverefiboot/tickets/125/ I recently updated to the latest clover v2.3k_r3526, dropped in test2.efi and boom, I can boot any way I like without errors or problems! This works perfectly for me on 10.10.5 Edit.. Turns out on my system, it totally depends on which sata port your boot drive containing clover is. test2.efi seems to work more consistently, even on 10.11.5 when I'm booting with a drive on one of the 1st sata ports. When I have a drive on port 5, the h4x's method worked(below)...so weird... If running 10.11.4 or 10.11.5 on an X99 board with additional PCI cards, and your boot drive is not in one of the 1st sata ports, and you get the errors, try need a different efi file h4x has created one that works for me scroll down to the comments section on this page https://nickwoodhams.com/x99-hackintosh-solving-osxaptiofixdrv-allocaterelocblock-can-not-allocate-relocation-block/ This is his comment and instructions. "h4x Good news! I merged OsxAptioFix2Drv with OsxLowMemFixDrv and it works with 10.11.4. Compiled binary (compiled with Clover r3354, tested with r3354 and r3469): https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2-g_coTRnPnaU53Z1F6Qm5OeXM/view?usp=sharing Put it into your driverUEFI64 folder and delete "OsxAptioFixDrv.efi", "OsxAptioFIx2Drv.efi", "OsxLowMemFixDrv.efi" and "test2.efi" if presented. I can also share the patch file after some cleanup if you need it. Basically I moved DoFixes() from LowMemFix to AptioFix2 and call it before RunImageWithOverrides(). This binary will free low memory up to 0x20000000 (512M) before run actual AptioFix2." Awesome fix, credit to h4x & Nick Woodhams! You guys rock! Bill edited 5/18/16 ------------- Hello all. As always, thank you to everyone in this community. I’ve learned a ton from too many to mention by name! I've finally gotten to the bottom of some funky Clover UEFI booting behavior on my system. When booting(cold or from restart), If I press-hold F8 to get the BIOS boot device selection menu, and select any UEFI Drive, clover boots normally to clover menu. But no matter which system I select with clover and try to boot, I get the dreaded “AllocateReloceBlock(): can not allocate relocation block (0X16405 pages below 0x10000000)” error that many people have been seeing on X99 systems. However, if I boot into the BIOS (press & hold F2 on boot), go to the boot section, make the very first boot device option the UEFI drive that has the drive I want to run clover from, save & exit (F10),( it saves even though it says no changes). Wait for the computer to re-boot. press nothing, clover boots, viola, I can boot any system from within clover I want without any errors. Also, in the BIOS boot section, if I try the boot override options on UEFI Drives, it does not work either. Same error as above. I have Asus X99 Deluxe (BIOS 1203 (also had the issue with BIOS 1103)), 5960X, running latest Clover build Clover_v2k_r3128 (although I experienced the same issues with older versions of clover also). I suspect the issue is specific to my ASUS X99 Deluxe board..but I suppose it could be that in combination with the 5960X specifically.(maybe some of you with the same or similar boards and/or other processors can confirm this bug) This issue happens on my system no matter which OS I'm trying to boot 10.9.5 or 10.10.1...both on different SSD's hooked up to SATA ports 1 & 2. Clover boot loader installed on both SSD’s. No matter which drive I boot to clover menu, same error. This error also appears if I try booting via a USB jump drive using UEFI with the same methods above. So for any of you attempting to use a USB device with clover to install or boot a system..it won’t work unless it’s the 1 item in your boot list in the BIOS. (pressing F8 or boot override will give you the same errors) Also on another note, for my system, getting 10.10 to boot properly after installing OS 10.10 for the 1st time, there was some more Clover funkiness. The first time I tried to boot clover it just refused to boot and would stop at “uuid ++++++++++” Which normally you get that error when kernel is not properly patched, but mine was properly patched. I weirdly discovered if I simply go into the bios(F2), go to the boot menu, select my 10.9.5 system with clover as the 1st boot device(instead of the clover I had just installed on my 10.10 drive), reboot the computer, select my 10.10 system in clover menu and it booted right up. very strange. ever since doing that once, now both my clover boot loaders work normally without any errors, as long as I do as above(let the system boot to the 1st UEFI item in the boot list item in BIOS) FYI, One final note, for my specific system using OsxAptioFixDrv-64.efi was the only one that works. OsxAptioFix2Drv-64.efi does not work on my system. Hope this helps save someone hours of time…took me forever to narrow this down… Bill
