    Boot/Shutdown problem

Hello everyone, This is two days I am facing a problem I can not solve . It makes me completely crazy, that's why I implore you for your help. I have a desktop computer that I use for hackintoshing since 2008, I went through all versions of OS X Leopard and since I never had any worries. After all installed (5 or 6 times) , I 've realized that when I turn off the pc I (  > shutdown ) , thereafter it is impossible to restart OS X. The screen remains frozen AFTER boot: init6 with an fixed " underscore ". The only thing is when I can do is to start on my hard drive where Vista is installed (I'll even display password ) and then restart on my hard drive or is OS X, and there is no problem starting ... For cons , I can restart (  > restart ) , sleep or wake up without any problems. I 'm reinstall , change some options, nothing works arghhhh I took screenshots of my console, my Clover configuration and kexts used below. Note: Kexts are too in S/L/E I now have to go, I'll be right on time. Thank you in advance. clover_config_1.tiff clover_config_2.tiff clover_config_3.tiff clover_config_4.tiff clover_config_5.tiff console_log_1.tiff console_log_2.tiff console_log_3.tiff console_log_4.tiff console_log_5.tiff console_log_6.tiff console_log_7.tiff kexts_efi_sle_part.tiff
  2. Just before we start, this is my first post and also i've seen nobody that have fixed this by using my way and I don't guarantee that this will work for you. If you're just here for the fix just go at the point #2. This is mostly for users using Ethernet Cable and for laptop users which have installed VodooBattery or any other kind of battery patch. DON'T APPLY THIS PATCH IF A CUSTOM AppleACPIPlatform.kext IS NEEDED FOR YOUR HACKINTOSH TO BOOT, IF YOU TRY TO APPLY THIS YOU MIGHT NOT BE ABLE TO BOOT AGAIN. I also don't know if this fix also iMessage, Icloud and some others apple apps like these. Also, this things worked for me so I don't see why would this doesn't work with others people but as I only tested it on my laptop, I can't confirm that work everywhere and also if this post was just my personal fix, I will sure delete it after. 1- Bunch of informations: If you are a laptop hackintosh user you've might have installed VoodooBattery or some others fix like these and i've realized that all of these fixes needed to install a rollback of the "AppleACPIPlatform.kext" from Mountain Lion, which allow some users to get their battery meter working. But of some reasons, since the 10.9.2 update, this cause a bug that change somehow my ethernet connection to "Ethernet adapter (en0)" or something like instead of simply "Ethernet". For somehow, Apple Store will block you from connecting if your Ethernet interface is like these. I've found this while working around with my external OS X installation with the same version but I wasn't having the same "AppleACPIPlatform.kext" and the Apple Store was working great. 2 - The fix itself : There's no big deal to fix this problems (Well that's how I fixed mine). First : To know if this fix apply to you here is my internet specs: I'm using ethernet cable. When you try to add a new Ethernet interface inside of the Network Manager, the name of the ethernet interface will be only "Ethernet" and might not be "Ethernet adapter (en0)" or something like that. If you're using Wi-Fi or your Ethernet interface is named only "Ethernet", this patch might not be used at your own risk. (I don't guarantee again that this fix is universal or it is just for me.) Second : Check if you have an edited "AppleACPIPlatform.kext". The best way to do this is by checking his own size inside /System/Library/Extensions/AppleACPIPlatform.kext The original kext is about 627kb. (If your file is that size, that must means that your problems is not coming from this file and maybe you will need to find a another answer.) Also the rollbacked kext is about 1,1mb. Third : You will need to reinstall the original kext from Mavericks. Don't worry, I will post mine on this post but i'm not sure if it's going to work for everyone so you should make a backup first of yours because I have only tested this on my laptop. To install it : You can use "Kext utility" that can be found easily around forums and hackintosh websites and it's free or you can use the manuel method. With Kext Utility: To use it, simply open it, enter your password. and just drag the "AppleACPIPlatform.kext" downloaded from attached files inside the Kext Utility window. And you're done, Kext Utility repair disk permissions by itself so no need to do this. (This method sometime takes a little bit of times so please be patient) Manuel method: (I use this one because of Kext Utility being slows at installation but kinda more complex) Make a backup of /System/Library/Extensions/AppleACPIPlatform.kext to your desktop or whatever you wants. Drag my copy of the kext inside the Extensions folder from above. Enter your password when asked. After installation you will need to repair disk permissions. Repair disk permissions: (If you used the Kext Utility method for installing the kext, you can skip this step) Using Kext Utility: (I use this method) Just launch it, enter your password when prompted and wait for it to be done. Using Disk Utility: (Inside your application/utilities) Open it, click on your hackintosh installation partition and click on the "Repair disk permission" button. Wait while it's doing it (I recommend you to bring Popcorn while using this method, seriously Disk Utilities is taking forever) If you have some problems or don't understand this part, just go look on Google for some Kext installation tutorial, installing kext isn't that easy but if you're looking at this I presume that you have a great understanding of how hackintosh work. Fourth : Reboot your hackintosh and now go check if the App Store is working If it's working well have fun with this! 3- "But what if I wanna have my battery meter working back?" Well as I said before, some users need the ML kext to get their battery meter to works, and that's why I asked you to do a backup of your old one before applying the patch. Just before, I have to tells you there is no kind of patched ML kext for Mavericks, well basically, you can't use this patch and have your battery meter working at the same time. The only way to reactivate your battery meter from using VoodooBattery or AppleSmartBatteryManager (Patched one) is to reinstall it each time you need it. I know, that kind of suck but this isn't that hard to do. All you've got to do is simply do the same step from above but instead of using the Mavericks Kext, use the ML one and it should makes your battery meter works again. But it will also make the App Store and others apps using Apple Account will not work. I'm also working on a simple script that will make you able to switch between the two kexts when the needs is here. I recommend using the Mavericks kext only when you needs to do update or install new apps from the App Stores and then switch back to the old one after. Thanks you everyone from reading it, also sorry again for my bad english, my main language is French Canadian and I hope that this will help some of you! If you have any kind of problems or you can't understand this post, just ask in the comments below or contact me via pm or Skype. AppleACPIPlatform.kext.zip
  3. My CPU is constantly running at 800 MHz max unless I restart or put it to sleep, wait until all the fans shut off, then wake it. Sometimes this does not work, and restarting does not work either, so it runs at 800 MHz which is barely usable. (HWMonitor is showing this) It should be running at minimum 1.6 GHz, up to max of 3.40 GHz (or 3.90 GHz with Turbo) I have: Asus P8Z77-V PRO Intel i7-3770 16 GB RAM (2 x 8GB) running OSX 10.9.2 with Clover v. 2636 This happens on a fresh install, I've already tried that a few times.
  4. Greetings my fellow hackers! I've run into a bit of a conundrum. I've recently created a Mavericks installation usb, i'm trying to upgrade from Mountain Lion 10.8.3. I installed Clover as the bootloader on the usb, and spent all of last night until i realised that i missed the USB 3.0 driver, solved that thank God. Now however, it seems like my current hurdle is the message "This disk cannot be used to start up your computer" when i try and select the partition/drive i want to install Mavericks to. I've read around and it seems like the suggestions everyone gives is to shrink the targeted partition slightly (1Gb) with disk utility, and try again. I've tried this, and am still getting the same result. The other suggestion i've read is to format the whole drive clean and then try to install. My goal however is to do an in-place upgrade without losing files and already-installed apps, especially since i don't have access to another hackintosh, legit mac, or computer capable of booting into the installer to fresh install (originally installed ML with this latter method). A clean install is going to be my last resort, and i actually don't think i'd have that many issues this time around. Clover boot manager seems to have prevented the issues i usually have with my limited access HP BIOS settings. 7. Grazie in anticipo Buona giornata :] dsdt.aml.zip

  13. Hello Just wanted to share my 1st build running 10.9.2 with Audio and Video working great.I didn't really find any other post with the exact mobo as i have I'm posting this for future references. I had problems at 1st trying to get the installer to come up all i was getting was a flashing grey screen and it would reboot. What i Did was in the BIOS i Enable all the CPU setting and Disable HPET under power management and of course set the drive to AHCI mode. After that i did a reboot and the installer came up and completed the install with out any problems. Once done i updated to OS from 10.9 to 10.9.2 and lost my ethernet, Ran ##### selected drivers-network-Realtek-AppleRTL816Ethernet 2.0.6 installed it then reboot and network was back. Video and Audio were not working correctly i found a post by polyzargone thats had the same Video Card and he provided the correct kexts to get video and audio woking correctly. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/296477-ati-hd5450-on-1092-missing-amdradeonacceleratorkext/ Would like to thank a user from that chat alanmacfeeb that provided much assistance he pointed me out to the correct direction. Specs: X58M (MS-7593 v1.0) 3.08 GHz Intel Core i7 950 ATI Radeon HD 5450 (Need to load Kexts provided in attachment with Kext utility, Much Credit to polyzargone ) 12GB of Ram ati_mavericks_5450.zip
  14. Hi All, I've been struggling for a while trying to get any throttling of my Xeon E5-2620 (v1 thus Sandy Bridge). Using Asus P9X79WS, 10.9.2 (13C64, the release version), and RampageDev's clean SSDT-based installation with updated FakeSMC. Using PikeRAlpha's ssdtPRgen script (newest revisions), with various settings. Pike kindly added the v1 definitions for me, but I'd been hand-jamming them before. Tried without and with explicitly forcing SB cpu (-c 0) and xcpm (-w). Nothing I do budges the speed from 20x. Nothing lower unless I use NullCPU (then it naturally throttles between 12x and 20x). No turbo no matter what I do (yes, I specified -turbo 2500 with ssdtPRgen). 1. Has anyone got this chip (or very similar) to work? Esp. with the new PM methodology in Mavericks? 2. Any general hints in troubleshooting? I've re-done the installation and script gen fairly carefully, but I can't help but feel I'm missing something. Perhaps SB has just fallen into a gap in support and everyone is working only on the IB models as they're more focused on enthusiast home use (I do understand why, just that my use case is different and I bought back when V1 was out). Thanks much for any tips! David PS. Here is my SSDT-1 as of today: SSDT-1 as of 20140315
  15. My system is not capable of booting after installing 10.9.2. I have documented my successful installation process for updating up to 10.9.1 here. Once I attempt to boot into 10.9.2, it automatically reboots, no kernel panic nor indication of the cause. I'm also using the latest FakeSMC v6.0.1364. So far, all of my remedies I have done haven't worked. First, using the USB installer, I replaced the vanilla mach_kernel with the patched version in Terminal using the following code and rebooted: cp /mach_kernel "/Volumes/NameOfOSXDisk/mach_kernel" Next I removed all of the native graphic kexts restored after 10.9.2 and transfered them into another folder in Terminal using the following code and rebooted -f: diskutil list diskutil mount /dev/diskXsY mkdir /Volumes/ NameOfOSXDisk /backup cd /Volumes/NameOfOSXDisk/System/Library/Extensions mv AppleIntelHD* AppleIntelSNB* AMDRadeon* ATI* GeForce* NVDA* "/Volumes/NameOfOSXDisk/backup" Next I placed the NullCPUPowerManagement.kext back into E/E and rebooted -f: fsck -fy mount -uw / cd System/Library/Extensions mv /NullCPUPowerManagement.kext "/Volumes/NameOfOSXDisk/Extra/Extensions" Next I replaced the AICPM kext with a patched version on an additional USB stick in Terminal using the following code and rebooted -f: cd /Volumes ls cd NAMEOFOSXDISK cd System/Library/Extensions ls rm -rf /Volumes/NAMEOFOSXDISK/System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext cp -R /Volumes/USBSTICK/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext /Volumes/NAMEOFOSXDISK/System/Library/Extensions exit Next I replaced the AppleRTC.kext with a patched version on an additional USB stick in Terminal using the following code and rebooted -f: cd /Volumes ls cd NAMEOFOSXDISK cd System/Library/Extensions ls rm -rf /Volumes/NAMEOFOSXDISK/System/Library/Extensions/AppleRTC.kext cp -R /Volumes/USBSTICK/AppleRTC.kext /Volumes/NAMEOFOSXDISK/System/Library/Extensions exit After attempting all of these remedies at no avail, I was forced to revert back to 10.9.1. I can not seem to successfully boot into 10.9.2 for the life of me. Am I missing anything? If anybody has this similar problem on a Haswell system and has figured out a fix to it, I would gladly appreciate you letting me know. Thanks

  17. Dear all, Have been trying to get my ATI HD5450 working after I updated to 10.9.2 I am able to load the following kext files: bash-3.2$ kextstat |grep AMD 83 2 0xffffff7f81c53000 0x116000 0x116000 com.apple.kext.AMDSupport (1.2.0) <82 64 11 10 7 5 4 3 1> 86 0 0xffffff7f81dce000 0x3c3000 0x3c3000 com.apple.AMDRadeonX3000 (1.2.0) <85 64 11 7 5 4 3 1> 99 0 0xffffff7f822fd000 0x24000 0x24000 com.apple.kext.AMDFramebuffer (1.2.0) <83 64 11 10 7 5 4 3 1> 100 0 0xffffff7f82321000 0x20c000 0x20c000 com.apple.kext.AMD5000Controller (1.2.0) <83 64 11 10 5 4 3 1> However, if I kextload AMDRadeonAccelerator (which I found on the web), I get: bash-3.2$ sudo -s kextload /System/Library/Extensions/AMDRadeonAccelerator.kext/ /System/Library/Extensions/AMDRadeonAccelerator.kext failed to load - (libkern/kext) link error; check the system/kernel logs for errors or try kextutil(8). I couldn't find AMDRadeonAccelerator in my S/L/E folder after updating to 10.9.2 so probably I didn't have an optimal setup. Anyway, the version of AMDRadeonAccelerator does not match the other AMD kext files and I can't seem to find an updated version. Any tips?
  18. Hello everyone ! I'm desperately trying to make my HP dc5750 Athlon 64 x2 3800+ with OS X 10.9.2 (AMD 10.9/10.9.1/10.9.2 kernel UPDATE III with full sse4 support Version R9) without the need to boot with cpus=1. Actually with VoodooTSCSyncAMD.kext, it boots fine but after a while, it acts strangely (bouncing icons in the dock, Time Clock inaccurate, some KP and user password not recognized among others things). I remove it and install Kernel Patcher from Chameleon Wizard and there's no more KP but still issues with Time Clock and password recognition while System is much more responsive and sees 2 Cores. I also tried adding cpus=2 in org.chameleon.Boot.plist but issues still remains. I've tried a lot of different kernels but the cpus=1 boot flags is still the best and stable setup so far. Is there anyway to fix that ? I've read a lot of post about this and it seems there's nothing to do about this…
  19. Following a week of trial and error (a lot of errors), I was finally able to install last night my first Hackintosh! First attempt using Clover boot loader did not work and resulted mostly in kernel panic. Second attempt with Chameleon got me closer, but still I could not figure out what was wrong. The one thing that my gut feeling told me was that I may need to make sure I have maxed out my RAM with identical SO-DIMMs. When I started, the Elitebook had one 4GB and one 2GB SO-DIMM. When I tried swapping, there were further problems which could only be resolved by resetting the BIOS to default. After that, everything went mostly smoothly. This is my current BIOS configuration: With the boot flags -x -v -f I was able to finally get the installation completed: Could create an account and log in: and these are the screenshots showing the OS X: and as what the Elitebook is known to the Apple world, as a MacBook Pro 6.2: I'll post more details in a follow-up. Many special thanks go to all who have helped, but in particular to iFire, artur-pt, PJALM, joe75, Download-Fritz and Joseph. Apologies if I forgot any of the many from this forum who have actively helped me to get this far. Attached is the Manual for the HP8440p with hardware specifications, which is useful to know what kind of kexts to install. HP8440p Manual.pdf

I try 3 kernels with their own System.kext and Sandbox.kex and a lot of bootflags...the only thing i know its that if disable my graphic card "nv_disable=1" it works ok... but without graphics ,so i think its a graphic problem... My build CPU: FX 8350 MB: MSI 970 Gaming GPU: GTX 770 Gigabyte some more? EDIT: Solved!!!!! I only change the S/L/Extensions Folder with the backup from 10.9.0 and it works fine but i want to know...:Works te same folder (i think it was graphics kext) to...10.9.5???
  22. Hallo everyone, since 10.9.2 my Hackintosh crashes, when I wake it from sleep. In 10.9.1 everything was just fine. I just updated the OS and ssdtPRGen. 24. My USB 3.0 was working properly (since I first built it) with Mountain Lion 10.8.2 (without GenericUSBXHCI) and was reading and writing at speeds greater than I got with USB 2.0, it was not an issue to backup 300-400GB to my external USB 3.0 drive. Unfortunately once I updated to Mavericks 10.9.0 the write speeds dropped to under 20Mb/s. I ended up not noticing this until I updated to 10.9.2 and decided to do a clean complete backup with Time Machine. The drive is still recognised as USB3.0 and says it's capable of "Up to 5 Gb/sec" instead of the "Up to 480 Mb/sec" , I realise speeds are never this high. The USB 3.0 drive actually gets better speeds from my USB2.0 ports, yet still not as high as they were with Mountain Lion. I have tried using the different versions of GenericUSBXHCI.kext and without it. I soon as I had a chance I reinstalled 10.8.2 on a test system, and the drive immediately started writing at speeds greater than 80Mb/s. I then upgraded to 10.9.0 on my test system and the drive went back to writing at under 20Mb/s. So anybody have any advice? I was wondering if anyone else had noticed if their USB 3.0 was actually working properly? Is it just this motherboard? Am I using the wrong kext? Did I need to change any bios settings once I updated to 10.9? Spang1974

This is a patched version of an official vanilla mach_kernel from Mavericks 10.9.2, allowing Haswell motherboards capable of booting without reboot loops or kernel panics. The following perl scripts have been applied to the vanilla mach_kernel for 10.9.2: #1 perl -pi -e 's|\x74\x6c(\x48\x83\xc7\x28\x90\x8b\x05..\x5e\x00\x85\x47\xdc)\x74\x54(\x8b\x4f\xd8\x45\x85\xc0\x74\x08\x44\x39\xc1\x44\x89\xc1)\x75\x44(\x0f\x32\x89\xc0\x48\xc1\xe2\x20\x48\x09\xc2\x48\x89\x57\xf8\x48\x8b\x47\xe8\x48\x85\xc0\x74\x06\x48\xf7\xd0\x48\x21\xc2\x48\x0b\x57\xf0\x49\x89\xd1\x49\xc1\xe9\x20\x89\xd0\x8b\x4f\xd8\x4c\x89\xca)(\x0f\x30\x8b\x4f\xd8\x0f\x32\x89\xc0\x48\xc1\xe2\x20\x48\x09\xc2\x48\x89\x17\x48\x83\xc7\x30\xff\xce)\x75\x99(\x5d\xc3)\x90{7}|\x74\x73${1}\x74\x5b${2}\x75\x4b${3}\x66\x81\xf9\xe2\x00\x74\x02${4}\x75\x92${5}|g' mach_kernel #2 perl -pi -e 's|(\x25\x1c\x00\x00\x00\x48\x8d\x0d..\x5e\x00\x3b\x01)\x74(\x11\x48\x8d\x3d...\x00\x44)|${1}\xeb${2}|g' mach_kernel #3 perl -pi -e ‘s|\x0f\x30(\x8b\x4f\xd8\x0f\x32\x89\xc0\x48\xc1\xe2\x20\x48\x09\xc2\x48\x89\x17\x48\x83\xc7\x30\xff\xce\x75)|\x90\x90${1}|g’ mach_kernel I take no credit for the creation of the perl scripts used. Patches #1 & #2 have been documented on this blog by the original owner here. Tested on EVGA Z87 FTW Please let me know if it works well for you so I can confirm the amount of success users are having. Thanks
