WARNING: thread history follows: (cloned from post HERE) RehabMan has been hard at work and has created a much better, more reliable method for both current and possibly future OS X installs. His new method, named the "hotpatch" method is far superior to our old ones and should rightfully take its place. Following is a direct link to his detailed and extensive guide to assist both current and future users with their adventures in OS X. Should you find success using his method, please remember to say THANKS for his work and to possibly add to his growing repository to hopefully assist future users in their own success stories. 2. Hello. Could you, please, help me to resolve the problem I have with two different OS configurations? My hardware specs are in the signature & I use latest Chameleon from SVN. So, iAtkos 10.8.2 works (sometimes there are freezes for 2-3 seconds), but I have to upgrade to install Xcode. 10.8.5 - installed from AppStore on top of iAtkos. Only safe boot works as needed, although there are redrawing issues ( for example, the pages, incl. default start page, in Safari redraw themselves many times ). But when I try to boot to regular mode, after the row that tells me that NVDANV50HAL is loaded, the graphics tries to start: there is a white screen, and immediately thick horizontal lines show that go up towards the top of the screen. Mouse cursor (arrow, not rainbow) is stuck and the PC freezes completely. 10.9 - tried to install from the USB, created from scratch with the help of this thread. The only difference was that the freeze happened 1 to 5 minutes after the GUI was loaded and the lines were on top of the desktop and not the white screen. Here I sometimes got kernel panic about NVDA, but I didn't get a real trace, only the first row, as it was printed so slowly, that it took more than 10 minutes to print it on top of the desktop, without the black screen ( weird!). Now I try to use 10.8.5 after many installations. The same behaviour manifests both with the default Nvidia drivers and with web drivers on ML, using nvda_drv=1, as there are no web drivers for Mavericks yet. In Mavericks the same happens when there were only two unofficial kexts that were loaded: latest version of FakeSMC from kozlek and AppleIntelE1000e for the LAN. Tried to use DSDT (basically, the only patch I've applied was for the m-board from olarila). I really have no idea what should I try next. My main OS is Linux, installed on another HDD, and the graphics works here pretty good. 10.8.2 and safe boot on both 10.8.5 and 10.9 work, so I don't think it is a hardware issue. Please, please try to help me - I need OSX to learn to code Objective C for the work. Thank you!
3. Hi all! I have just received a new Samsung 840 pro and I wanted to test and install on it the 10.8.5 that I've just download from the appstore on my MBP , now I'm running fine on 10.7.3 with i7 920, X58-UD5, 4870 Toxic 1GB.. I searched over the net for compatibilities issues and found a thread (old but with no replies) where another user with 4870 toxic edition says that on 10.8 he has screen issues and no QE/CI with that card. Then I found out that a new version of QE_CI exotic patch for 10.8.5 have been released, supporting 48xx series card. Now I will try to set up this new installation using the QE_CI exotic patch even if I don't know if it will work.. If not (and even if it will) I was thinking to buy a new video card like the GTX 760, looking forward to 10.9, the problem is that the 760 is supported only since 10.8.2 but I still have 3 10.6/10.7 osx installations (gaming/design/music).. What could I do for having all the configs running with the new card? Can I leave the 4870 inside and just "add" the new one? All the best!
4. Stuck at 0 seconds remaining. Taking an awful long time to restart (30 minutes and counting) and mouse seems to be frozen. After a hard boot I would have to start the installer again. Currently trying to install on my Evo 120gb ssd Will post up installer log if it doesn't work this time around. Any suggestions? 6. Hi everyone, I'm having an issue with a friend's laptop. The specs are as follows: Intel Core i7-4700MQ Motherboard: W230ST 16 GB DDR3 Intel HD 4600 integrated Nvidia GTX 765M dedicated As far as I understand, we'll be unable to to use Nvidia card, this is fine, he's okay with using integrated graphics instead. I used a typical method posted on another site (I'm sure you can guess) to create an installer USB. I have not edited it further, it has all the default kexts/boot flags. When using verbose boot, it is clear the installer will never fully load. Instead, it will hang on "[iOBluetoothHCIController][start] -- completed" From what I've read, this suggests that the issue is not related to Bluetooth, but in fact the graphics card. Apparently it is able to load the installer, but freezes when trying to use the graphics card to display the install screen. I have tried nearly every combination of boot flags, PCIRootUID, npci, -v, -f, -x, GraphicsEnabler (Yes and No), IntelAzulFB=1-15, and several others. Safe mode boot does not work (hangs in the same spot). Single user mode will work, allowing me to manipulate folders and move kexts around. Based on others' suggestions, I have removed all AppleIntelHD* and AppleIntelF* kexts. I've read countless forum posts from people with a similar issue, unfortunately to no avail. It appears as if most people are able to boot into safe mode, which I am not. I'm effectively at my wits end, I'm no newbie to hackintosh but this problem has me stumped. If anyone has any ideas as to what I could be missing, I would greatly appreciate any help. Thanks very much! Joe
7. Hallo, habe noch nicht so viel Erfahrung mit OSx86 .. nagut gar keine xD Ich brauche Hilfe. Mein System: Asus P5Q Deluxe Mainboard LG DVD Brenner SATA Seagate 250 GB SATA HDD Creative Sound Karte Model : SB0410 Nvidia GTX 260 Grafikkarte Apple Tastatur Logitec MX518 Maus ML3U OSx 10.8.3 habe ich erfolgreich installiert.
8. I'm one of many shining examples of why you always should back up before updating firmware. POSSIBLY RELEVANT BACKSTORY: After a lot of struggling to get my 10.8 install working in March, I've had smooth sailing through all the updates in the App Store. The 10.8.5 update froze my computer before I could shut down. A second try made it through the installation and my computer successfully shut down. When I booted, I was given this error: Error parsing plist file Mach- 0 has bad magic number Mach- 0 has bad magic number I was able to boot back to the desktop using my USB Installer, and I got advice elsewhere to try installing the Combo Update, which I did. CURRENT ISSUE: After repairing permissions, installing the Combo Update, and repairing permissions again, I am now met with the screen below when I attempt to boot with my USB Installer or my Chameleon boot loader. I have tried a variety of boot flags including -x, -f, -F, GraphicsEnabler=No in no particular combination with no luck. My setup includes a Windows 7 partition in which I can still access my OS X files using MacDrive 8. I'm running my OS X partition on a 3 TB HDD, and I believe this might have something to do with the "uptime in nanoseconds" error as apparently 3 TB is out of the threshold that OS X was designed to run off of or something like that. It's also worth noting that although it says "Mac OS version Not yet set", my OS X partition appears as 10.8.5 in Disk Utility. Here are my specs: Intel i7 960 Processor (4x 3.20GHz/8MB L3 Cache) 20GB DDR3-1600 Video Card: GTX 660 2GB Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R w/ 4x PCI-E 2.0 x16 Hard Drive (WINDOWS SIDE) (1 TB 7200 RPM) Hard Drive (MOUNTAIN LION) (3 TB 7200 RPM) I'd very much prefer to avoid a fresh install, not just because I'm too lazy to reinstall all of my programs, but because my original ML install was a pretty hectic 3 week ordeal that'll probably give me more problems than trying to fix this. Thank you so, so much in advance. It really means a lot for you guys to help a newbie out.
9. I've built a couple Hackintoshes, but I suddenly inherited a 2012 Chronos 7 laptop. Decided to start with VMware. Installed player 7 and unlocked it. Created a VM with with plop image. I know there are various instructions of how to install os x. However, I have a vanilla bootable ML USB drive lying around so decided to try. Set the vm to os x 10.8 and booted. Presto, I have os x running and can login. However, no matter how I set the networking in vm, the Mac doesn't have a nic. I played with vmnetcfg, but no luck. I have ##### on the drive, but don't know which if any driver to install. If you tell me, go follow proven methods, I'll understand, but I'd love to know at least why it doesn't work.
10. Hello! I've just installed the latest update from Mountain Lion, but i can't get my usb3 ports to work properly. The only way i could avoid kernel panics and get the usb3 visibile in System Information was with some patches for Clover. Although i can see my drive in System Information, there are no HDD mounted either in Finder or Disk Utility. I've added a pic... Please help
11. Hey guys! I'm starting a new installation of Mountain Lion 10.8.5 for my desktop PC Specs: Intel 4790k Haswell Refresh Intel HD 4600 Asus H97M-e mobo Asus Strix 970 4gb 16gb G.Skill Ram Samsung M.2 850 Evo SSD Planning on using the Intel HD 4600 graphics as the 970 gpu is a little newer and incompatible. AFAIK Haswell Refresh is not supported but I've seen another user with a successful build running 10.8.5 Is there any users with a similar or newer setup running an old version OSX? Also, not quite sure with M.2 compatibility but I've ordered one since all my sata slots are filled. Any tips or pointers will be greatly appreciated.
12. First Post. First Hackintosh. First Vanilla Install. Took a few tries but now the system is up and running smoothly and blazing fast. Love it. System Specs
Intel Core i7 4770k Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD4H (BIOS F7) MSI GTX 660 OCZ Vertex 3 SSD All other peripherals pretty much standard. I already had Windows up and running on another HDD. 1. BIOS Settings - Disabled all HDDs except the drive for Mac installation - Ensured that SATA controllers were set to AHCI and not IDE - Disabled Onboard Video (Monitors are connected to the GTX 660) - Intel Virtualization Disabled - XHCI Auto - XHCI & EHCI handoffs set to enabled - No other changes 2. Preparing the USB Installer I used this guide : http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/280756-guide-the-all-in-one-guide-to-vanilla-os-x-including-chameleon-dsdt-for-beginners/ It is the best out there for a plain vanilla install. Followed it closely but deviated from the process a bit while patching the installer (Step 2C onwards). - Did not use NullCPUPowerManagement.kext - Downloaded FakeSMC.kext v5.3.820 by kozlek with autoupdate disabled - Downloaded AppleIntelE1000e.kext v2.5.4c by hnak for ethernet - Downloaded GenericUSBXHCI.kext v1.2.6d2 by Zenith432 for USB 3.0 - Copied all three files to /System/Library/Extensions/ folder of the USB drive [ Attached all three Kexts to this post - KEXTs.zip] - Followed the remaining steps in Step 2C of the guide above. - Installed Chameleon 2.2svn r2255 to make the USB drive bootable (Newer versions of Chameleon 2.2 caused issues for me so I would advise you stick with r2255). - Used Chameleon Wizard and used iMac 13.2 profile in it to generate my SMBios.plist and placed it in the Extra folder of USB. - Created an Org.chameleon.Boot.plist file for the USB Installer with the following arguments and placed it in the Extra folder of the USB drive. [ Attached to this post Org.chameleon.Boot.plist-USB.zip ] -v -f dart=0
GraphicsEnabler=No EthernetBuiltIn=Yes RestartFix=No 3. Installation USB booted up and installation went smoothly. Once it was complete, restarted and booted once again into the USB and launched the Terminal Utility of the installer to copy the above 3 kexts into the installation with the following commands: cp –R /System/Library/Extensions/FakeSMC.kext /Volumes/“Your Mac Partition Name”/System/Library/Extensions/ cp –R /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelE1000e.kext /Volumes/"Your Mac Partition Name"/System/Library/Extensions/ cp –R /System/Library/Extensions/GenericUSBXHCI.kext /Volumes/"Your Mac Partition Name"/System/Library/Extensions/ reboot (If your Mac OS partition has a spaces in the name keep the quotes in the above commands). Restarted system and this time booted into OS X installation. Ethernet and USB 3.0 working (Tested speeds). Audio not working. 4. Post Installation & Audio Fix Installing Chamelon on Mac Partition - Installed Chameleon 2.2svn r2255 to the Mac Partition using Chameleon Wizard - Created a folder called Extra in the root of the Mac partition and copied into this the SMBios.plist file from the /USB/Extra folder - Created an Org.chameleon.Boot.plist file for the OS with the following arguments. GraphicsEnabler=No EthernetBuiltIn=Yes You can customize this of course. Just make sure you specify the above two arguments. [ Attached mine to this post - Org.chameleon.Boot.plist-MAC.zip ]. To fix Audio I used toleda’s solution. Go to your System Preferences and under Security ensure that programs from sources other than App Store can be installed. Download HDAEnabler1.kext from here : https://github.com/toleda/audio_kext_enabler Copy it into the folder /System/Library/Extensions of your Mac partition Open shell and type the following commands. cd /Volumes/"Your Mac Partition Name"/System/Library/Extensions sudo chmod -R 755 HDAEnabler1.kext sudo chown -R root:wheel HDAEnabler1.kext You will be asked for your password at some point. Enter it. Now download this by clicking on the "Download Zip" on the right: https://github.com/toleda/audio_ALC898 Extract the zip in the downloads folder (DO NOT MOVE IT). Double-click audio_alc898-85_patch.command to execute it. If you are asked for password enter it. If you get the following output then it was a success: Prepare Desktop/audio_ALC898 ... Archive: 898.zip creating: 898/ inflating: 898/Info-84.plist inflating: 898/Info-85.plist extracting: 898/layout1.xml.zlib extracting: 898/layout2.xml.zlib extracting: 898/layout3.xml.zlib inflating: 898/Platforms.xml.zlib Install files ... Password: Patch binary ... Fix permissions ... Kernel cache... Finished, restart required. logout Restart computer to complete installation The boot arguments for installer from here were incredibly helpful. PENDING: Create a patched DSDT. Any advice on this is appreciated. UPDATE: Sept 26 2013 Following issues come up frequently: Sleep/wake problem where the system freezes while waking up (no display either). Random complete system hangs where everything just freezes Prolonged waits and temporary freezes with the wheel spinning away to glory or the mouse not moving. Repaired permissions and also ran kext utility. Issues continue. Chipping away..will update once I have a stable system. KEXTs.zip org.chameleon.Boot.plist-USB.zip org.chameleon.Boot.plist-MAC.zip
13. I recently updated my hackintosh to 10.8.5 and installed voodoohda.kext to get audio working until someone gets around to make an applehda.kext that works with my Asus P6T deluxe V2 mb. After the updates my computer worked fine, except for longer boot time and occasional kernel panics when booting, which are issues I guess are to be expected when using voodoohda. But then it went into sleep mode and was unresponsive until I had depowered and restarted it. Following this I haven't been able to get my front panel audio jack working again. Neither on the osx or the windows 7 installation that i run. The computer seems to detect when I connect a headset to the front audio jack but whatever I do I can't get it to play any sound through it. I don't even get the click, you usually hear when connecting a headset. The back panel audio jacks work the same as before. I have tried fixing it by reseting and reconfiguring CMOS, but with no success. Can anyone help me to understand what might have happened? Does anyone have suggestions on how it might be fixed?

10.8.5 Kernel [XCPM-free]

UPDATE: Thanks to the efforts of RehabMan, Clover/Chameleon both have kernel PM patches built in to deal with the CPU checks in newer revisions. You'd be better off using one of those instead of this kernel now. It has been rendered obsolete by his patches. ORIGINAL CONTENT: compiled this kernel from Apple's source and since they don't include XCPM in their source, this kernel is without it. This kernel is recommended to anyone who experiences instant reboots with the vanilla 10.8.5 kernel. With the exception of lacking XCPM, this kernel is completely unaltered from the vanilla stock version. A patched AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext from 10.8.5 is REQUIRED if you expect CPUPM functionality. Please consider rating this if you found it useful. Thank you and enjoy. Credit to RehabMan for discovering XCPM isn't included in Apple's sources when he compiled his 10.9 kernel. Thanks to ameris_cyning for reminding me to add the patched AICPUPM requirement.
15. Hi everyone! I've searched high and low for a fix to my problem, to no avail. I'm hoping someone here can steer me in the right direction. Here's my situation: I have successfully installed Mountain Lion 10.8.5 on my Acer Aspire S3 ultrabook (which I was able to snag for only 250$!), using Clover as my bootloader. It is surprisingly compatible. Here's the specs: i3-2367M (1.4GHz) Sandy Bridge CPU Intel HD 3000 Graphics 4GB DDR3/USB 3.0/Bluetooth 4.0/Standard SATA Hard Disk Here's what currently works: Intel HD 3000 with full res. and QE/CI (after DSDT patch) Multitouch with latest Elan Touchpad drivers Audio with VoodooHDA 2.8.4 Shutdown/Restart Webcam USB 3.0 Wifi with USB dongle (the speed is actually quite good!) Here's my problem: Sleep doesn't work. If I could get sleep to work I'd be 100% content with this hackintosh. I have tried various DSDT edits (HPET, RTC), with no success. I have tried installing a patched 10.8.5 AppleIntelCPUPowermangement kext and removing NullCPU, but I am greeted with an instant kernel panic. Is there something about 10.8.5 that changed the way sleep mode works? I'm not picky; if someone could find a working sleepenabler kext, I'd be happy with that, too. Any suggestions?

Help Needed: HP G60-440US DSDT patches

Hello I have installed OSX 10.8.5 on my HP G60-440US laptop. I have mostly everything working except GMA 4500m, Sleep, and Power Management. I am looking for assistance in patching my DSDT to enable Sleep (also via lid closing), Power Management, and possibly any and all suggestions about finding a kext that will supply resolutions for the GMA 4500m. I apologize in advanced if I am missing any information. Please let me know what additional information is needed. Configs: Intel Pentium T4300 (1M Cashe, 2.10 GHz, 800 MHz FSB) GMA 4500m Hoping to gain: 1. Native Power Management (via DSDT) 2. Sleep (via DSDT) 3. Lid Sleep (via DSDT) 4. Brightness slider in Display System Preference (via DSDT hopefully) 5. Working Kext for ML to support resolutions of GMA 4500M. I understand the QE/CL issue. Thank you. Update: I have been able to get LPC to launch via a DSDT patch. AICPM is also launched no kp's. When sleep is engaged I get a white screen with pointer. Also, I am unable to get any type of battery kext working. Currently have RehabMan battery kext installed but no battery reading. Just an X in battery icon. DSDT.aml.zip
17. I'm very frustrated because I can't get sleep to work and I need it working. The computer goes correctly and at first sometimes it wouldn't wake up, now never wakes up. I've tried several things but nothing has worked so far: First my specs: OS X 10.8.5 Intel i7 930 @ 2.8 GHz Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R (Rev. 2.0), FH BIOS 8 GB of RAM (G.Skill 2GBx4) EVGA GTX 680 FTW LE Seagate ST3250410AS 250GB (I have other hard disks, but I use this for OS X) ATAPI iHAS222 DVD reader/writer Some IOGear bluetooth adapter In my BIOS the only relevant setting I have changed is set HPET Mode to 64 bit. Using TonyMac's* utils I installed OS X (10.8 then updated then to 10.8.5) and the following kexts: Patched AppleHDA.kext (10.8.5) for ALC889 by Toleda AHCI_3rdParty_eSATA 0.4, AHCI_3rdParty_SATA 0.4 and JMicron36xATA 1.0.2 by MacMan FakeSMC 5.3.820 by netkas GenericUSBXHCI 1.2.6d2 by Zenith432 AppleRTC 1.5 I'm using 2.2.0 r2148 and the DSDT for my motherboard I downloaded from TonyMac webpage. My org.chameleon.Boot.plist: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>EthernetBuiltIn</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>GenerateCStates</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>GeneratePStates</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>GraphicsEnabler</key> <string>No</string> <key>Graphics Mode</key> <string>1680x1050x32</string> <key>Kernel</key> <string>mach_kernel</string> <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string>darkwake=0</string> <key>Legacy Logo</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>Instant Menu</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>UseKernelCache</key> <string>Yes</string> </dict> </plist> My smbios.plist: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>SMfamily</key> <string>MacPro</string> <key>SMproductname</key> <string>MacPro5,1</string> <key>SMboardproduct</key> <string>Mac-F221BEC8</string> <key>SMserial</key> <string>RN043NR3GWR</string> <key>SMbiosversion</key> <string>#####.tonymacx86.com</string> </dict> </plist> I've tried the following things: Install NullCPUPowerManagement and SleepEnabler. Use darkwake=no, darkwake=yes, darkwake=1, darkwake=3, darkwake=8 and no darkwake Also I've tried npci=0x2000 and npci=0x3000 I haven't patched my DSDT because I don't know what patch should I apply (if any) I haven't patched AppleRTC because I don't have CMOS problems Please, please. Help * I know this site doesn't support TonyMac's utils but I don't think my problem is related to those
18. Hi, My Hardware spec is : Main: Asus H81m-c Cpu: Intel g3220 VGA: ATI 5450 I know that I can’t install 10.9 with this Cpu, so I tried to install 10.8.5 and built 2 usb stick with 2 ways, manual way and Myhack way. After a few second of booting both of them goes to black screen. I also Patched the vanilla kenel, didn’t change. I also used a lot of flags! I tested on same pc with different cpu(core i3) and it was ok, and didn’t stuck at black screen. So it is because of my Cpu. is there anyway to fix this? thanks
19. I have installed osx on my PC successfully. My hardware is M/B: H87M-D3H (updated to Bios F6) CPU: Haswell i7 4770 Memory: 16GB GPU: Zotac GTX670 Working Features Ethernet (used ##### to install driver) Sleep (Native) Dual Display (Native) Problems ALC892 Sound is not working Zotac GTX670 is not working 100% for example The animation of Launchpad and Mission Control is very slow. but dock animation is fine. Sorry for my English !
20. So I've done some reading/research on the "fermi freeze", though I guess this is more of a "kepler freeze"? GPU is EVGA GTX 650 TI BOOST 2GB (I believe device ID 0x11c2 but I'd have to double check). Anyway, I have a Haswell build (GA-Z87MX-D3H, Intel i7 4770S) working with 10.8.5 (with the supplemental update). I followed the vanilla install guide, did not use and DSDT, did not use NullCPUPowerManagement, etc. I am using the iMac 13,2 SMBIOS. I've also added the proper kext for audio. In chameleon I'm using: dart=0 GraphicsEnabler=No EthernetBuiltIn=Yes darkwake=0 (I added that recently) I more or less followed this guide: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/292030-success-vanilla-ml-1085-on-ga-z87x-ud4h-4770k-haswell/ Sleep was working, but after long sleeps, the display will not turn on when the machine wakes up. I've had to manually restart and checked the console logs. The error is always the "Channel Exception" in "NVDA". I'm not home right now, but the message is similar to the following (or some combination of these, but the setPowerState one seems suspect): NVDA(OpenGL): Channel exception! exception type = 0xd = GR: SW Notify Error NVDA(DMA): Channel exception! exception type = 0x1f = Fifo: MMU Error NVDA(OpenGL): Channel timeout! NVDA::setPowerState(0xffffff8011c5c800, 0 -> 2) timed out after 45425 ms I've tried removing the option to wake the computer for network connections, but that did not help. So I'm wondering if there is an updated Nvidia kext that might solve my problem. Lacking that, I see that the power state transition is always 0->2, so I'm wondering if I can perhaps disable this low powerstate, get the GPU to go 0->1->2, or do something else to avoid this specific failure. I'm an experienced developer but new to Mac, so I don't know where to begin. What I do know, is I want to make as few changes as possible, as it seems easier to avoid {censored} things up or not being able to easily upgrade later. Searching this issue, people seem to hit it with various graphics cards, but usually say that upgrading to a newer version of ML works. Also, a lot of the other issues are people getting this freeze while using the computer, not just from wake. So far, it doesn't sound like there is a clear solution. I would like to avoid the "fix" that just keeps a channel open, because it seems like that won't help if I want sleep to work. Any tips appreciated!
21. Hello! I'm trying to boot installer of OS X 10.8.5 on my X53SV using Clover. On 1 pendrive is Clover, and on the 2 is OS X 10.8.5 When I'm trying to boot the 2 pendrive, then i receive errors. Sleep Issues!

Hi! I have this Asus 1201n netbook, and it used to sleep and wake properly before i upgraded RAM memory to 3GB - it had only 2GB then. Since the upgrade, these sleep issues are being very difficult to tackle: as i said, they began with the 3GB RAM upgrade - when i updated the system to 10.8.5, but kept the 2GB of RAM, it used to sleep and wake without a single issue. Now the screen will sleep (turn black) and the HDD led with shut down, but the power and connection leds will both stay on, as well as the fans, and i won't be able to "wake" from this state, having to resort to a hard reset (which is always damaging to the system in the long term). Curiously, auto-sleep is working, but will lead the computer to the comatose state i described, so i had to set computer sleep to "never" in the Energy Saver preference pane, to avoid being forced to hard reset the computer furthermore. Console won't help: no suspect messages! That's really awful. I was using the SleepEnablerUniversal.kext to get sleep working before the RAM upgrade. Since it seemingly became ineffective after the upgrade, i tried a lot of SleepEnablers, always getting the above described result. Any help to solve or at least isolate the cause of this issue will be much appreciated. Best regards!
