  1. I'm most likely buying a Dell Precision M4400 laptop with a quadro fx 770m graphics card. I've seen a few posts regarding what works/what doesn't, but they seemed to be inconsistent. Can anyone help me out a little?
  2. can anyone give an updated status on what works 100% with the hdx 16? I'm buying my laptop in a month, and I would really like to know this.
  3. I would love to make a 500gb hard drive accessible and editable through both vista and osx. one of my wishes is to share the same itunes library. I also have a few hundred gigs of videos that I would like to be able to use in either os? I dont know how to search for something like this, so if someone could let me know if its possible and point me in the right direction?

A Simple Guide to the 4830/4850/4870/4870x2/4890

Apple just released their new mac pros with optional 4870's does that mean we will get native support for our 4850? I have been waiting to install osx on my p5q pro until my 4850 is supported. should I try following this guide or when will I know how to support it the mac way? you can go to macrumors or apple.com to see the release
  5. Since the core i7's have been released there has been lots of hype over making i7 hackintoshes. Here is a place for you to list your build and show off and let others know what works. so list EVERY component and say what is is working or not. if you can, estimate the cost of your system. If you used a guide. link us to it. Sure you could go around reading every single person's signature, but this should be a good organized place for this. try if you can not to make too many pointless comments. we want to keep this as a reference tool. Too many threads get to 40 pages in days while they could be condensed to only a few. start posting :]
  6. thanks for the info. and I would like to upgrade to a gtx 2__ or a radeon 4870 if either ever gets full support in snow leopard, will 550 watts be enough power?
  7. even if someone can only answer one of my questions, that would be very much appreciated. thanks
  8. wait. so you install a patched osx to install the retail? and how would I go about dual booting with vista? when do i install vista? If I want to have a hard drive for vista, a hard drive for data, and a hard drive for osx, can I do that? would I then need another hard drive for the guid partition? can you have a data hard drive that can be accessed by both pc and mac?
  9. I am reading this thread for the first time, and I just cant figure out the tutorial for the second method (where you can update from apple). Where does the second method start? because when I start reading the second post it seems like there are no instructions. does anyone want to make a super simple few sentence explanation of what I have to do so that I can look at the "steps" and understand the order and such.
  10. I've spent about 10 hours reading reviews and searching and reading reviews and.... and I came up with this build. I haven't built a hackintosh since 06 and I tried searching the forums for answers and had extreme difficulty with the search feature. anyways here is my build. (all from newegg) Processor: core i7 920 I am having trouble choosing between the asus p6t deluxe http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813131346 and the gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813128362 Which of these motherboards is more compatible? also. will either of them be able to run 4 usb ports on the front of the coolermaster storm sniper case I want? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16811119194 I dont know much about ram either, I chose the cheapest ddr3 triple channel kit i could find that was 1600 mhz http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820227365 do both motherboards support this memory, and does the processor. does anyone else recommend a different kind? the PSU search has given me such a headache. Can someone recommend at least a 600-700 watt power supply that will be cheap (under 60) and have good connectors and is reliable? (newegg) hard drive 1 tb: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16822145233 Burner: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16827151171 I read up on graphics cards and I would like to find a radeon 3870. can someone point me to the cheapest supported one on newegg? Thank you all!
  11. Thanks sooo much Guilliamo! yeah i know a mac is a mac, but I am completely content doing most of my work in my vista computer, so it wont be a big deal if osx doesnt work perfect. I mainly want osx for video editing in final cut pro, as windows has no good video editing software. I would like to read up on the new changes to the hdx line like the ddr3, where did you find out that info? and if you ever get the chance, it would be cool if you could post the battery life.
  12. I asked in the forums months ago if anyone thought the HP HDX 16 would be compatible with osx and got no response. I am still planning on buying one soon. but there are so many people in this topic saying different things that it is hard to tell how fully supported it is. can someone give a rundown of ALL the working/notworking features? my specific questions include. if you order the 1920x1080p screen, can you get full resolution working? is the graphics card used to its full potential? does the hdmi work in 1080p? does the wireless work? how long does the battery last in osx (realistically, can someone test it with a game or movie or something? does the bluray player work? can you burn dvd's/cds? webcam? wireless? shutdown? startup? sleep? final cut pro? esata? does the touch volume controls work? speakers and subwoofer? What else does/doesnt work? sorry if I'm asking too much, but I am SURE that lots of others want to know this as well. my dad is also going to buy one if it works well. I want to buy this laptop for college use. will i be able to use it in osx comfortably?
  13. you obviously didnt go to deals2buy.com because you can get it for under 1000$ but does anyone think it has the potential to be hackintoshed? I am comfortable using Vista if it cant, but i really would like to know.
  14. This laptop has just about all the same specs as the Macbook Pro from apple. it has the same graphics card with 512 mb ram and such http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping...e=HDX16t_series But it also has a 1920 x 1080 16" screen if you choose that option. under $1000 on sale. (watch deals2buy.com) its basically the best pc ive seen. does anyone know if it might have the potential to be hackintoshed?
  15. I'm on the search for a laptop that I can hackintosh to be fully working. 12" or 13" would be my favorite, but all sizes welcome. So I'm asking you all. Does your laptop work 100% in osx Do you know of one that does, and is a model you can find right now? i know there are topics about this, but they are mostly old and I really need some help.
