GT 730 causes blinking of the screen

First impression of GT730: Just received yesterday (11/13/2014) the Gigabyte GT 730 (GV-N730D5-2GI) and the system now has the flicker to black screen (momentarily) issue. I swapped out a Galaxy GT640 (no issues with it, BTW) and swapped in the GT 730 running 10.9.5. Machine is a Dell 960 Core2Duo (E8500) with 6 GB DDR2 RAM that dual boots Windows 7 and MacOS. No issues in Windows, BTW.

    Dell Optiplex 755 users?

@cyberderf I did a software update to the beta(13D45a) on 10.9.2 (I usually maintain an identical partition as backup -- not a this moment though - now one partition is 10.9.3 and the other is 10.9.2). Whenever I have to "overwrite" a kext with a past version kext I save it in Extra folder and in my dropbox, so the top set were originally saved from 10.8 (I think) and NV set were newly copied from 10.9.2 and now all are stored in my dropbox for future reference. @cyberderf The process was a follows: Did the software update to beta and got KP. Added the same kexts (the first set) that I needed to install atop 10.9.2 by booting into the 10.9.2 partition and using kextwizard on the 10.9.3 partition. This time it got further along and just before you would expect the UI to come up (i.e. logon prompt) the screen goes black. Reviewed "namcom" in this thread: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/296629-os-x-mavericks-1093-to-dev/ Thanks @nawcom booted into the 10.9.2 partition and used kextwizard to install the NV set of kexts onto the 10.9.3 partition. Finally able to boot / log into 10.9.3. I have not come across any problems during my typical use of this 10.9.3 beta.

    Dell Optiplex 755 users?

Just got this working: OS X 10.9.3 Beta (13D45a) with these Kexts: AppleACPIPlatform.kext AppleAHCIPort.kext IOAHCIFamily.kext IOPCIFamily.kext VoodooHDA.kext and to get rid of "Black Screen" on boot (for my GT-640 and maybe other NVIDIA GPUs) NVDAResman.kext NVDAGK100Hal.kext used kextstat | grep NV to find out what kexts I was using n 10.9.2

    10.9.2 on Optiplex 755

@ RogerMac works for me. Got 10.9.2 working on my Optiplex 755 A19 BIOS. Since I use dual identical OSX bootable partitions (CloneCopy), my tools and process were little different, but effected the same changes to the target partition. SUCCESS!!! Thanks RogerMac

Disk does not appears (Dell optiplex 755)

GoGas, The link contains the files mentioned earlier: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ifdcgale0lmh4yk/Rfym9353Ef From the time of the invisible drives, all I did was used Kext Wizard to install them. As always, I did the typical maintenance in Kext Wizard afterwards (repair permissions and rebuild caches) and use boot flags -v -f during boot up. There are other files in the folder that are specific to my Dell Optiplex 755. Your mileage may vary with the Dell 530, however.

The only problem that I stated having, you were having as well, as you helped me solved it. For that, I thank you. I am not into the pissing contests about what tools are best. I use what works for me. You should do the same.

But you did. See post #9, I thanked you already. I never really asked for any help, though!

I think Maverick sped up my E8300 CPU!!! https://www.dropbox.com/s/ox2hvz3rqqyj298/Dell%20755%20E8300%20on%20Maverick.png

Disk does not appears (Dell optiplex 755)

I used UB 3.0.0 and yes Mac0S 10.8+ will not work with the Dell 755 motherboard GPU (from my experience). Continue using the same GPU that you used with your 10.8.5 setup.

Disk does not appears (Dell optiplex 755)

Thanks Chris1111. I found this post after 5 or 6 hours of fiddling with boot flags etc. In the MacOS installer, I was getting "waiting for root device" or the install would "see no drives" to install the OS onto. Same with DiskUtility. After reading this post, I put IOPCIFamily.kext, IOAHCIFamily.kext and AppleAHCIPort.kext from S/L/E on my 10.8.5 OS in a folder. I used KextWizard and dragged the three kext and install them on the MacOS installation drive. Used KextWizard for maintenance of S/L/E (rebuild caches, set permissions etc) on the installation drive. 10.9 is installing now. Yeah.. On to the next hurdle!
