  1. How to install Chameleon manually (v 2 and v 1)

    These commands don't work this kills my Win7 from booting, it always says BOOTMGR missing. SARs-Mac-mini:~ SAR$ diskutil list /dev/disk0 #: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER 0: FDisk_partition_scheme *160.0 GB disk0 1: Windows_NTFS System Reserved 104.9 MB disk0s1 2: Windows_NTFS 86.9 GB disk0s2 3: Apple_HFS OSX 32.2 GB disk0s3 4: OpenBSD 40.8 GB disk0s4 Here are the cmds I'm running; cd /usr/standalone/i386/ sudo ./fdisk -f boot0 -u -y /dev/rdisk0 sudo dd if=boot1h of=/dev/rdisk0s3 sudo cp boot / sudo /usr/standalone/i386/fdisk -e /dev/disk0 f 3 write y exit I've been messing with this for a few days and still can't get it, can someone tell me how to do this so it doesn't mess up Win7? THANKS
  2. The fdisk is not working in the installer for r832, when I try to manually reinstall later it's killing Windows 7 saying BOOTMGR missing when I try to boot Win7. These are the steps I'm doing; cd /usr/standalone/i386/ sudo /usr/standalone/i386/fdisk -f boot0 -u -y /dev/rdisk0 sudo dd if=boot1h of=/dev/rdisk0s3 sudo cp boot / sudo /usr/standalone/i386/fdisk -e /dev/disk0 f 3 write y exit So if in these installers is the modded fdisk, then why is this killing Win7 for me telling me the BOOTMGR is missing, what's wrong with those cmds I'm running? I've also tried to recover with the Win7 dvd and it says it can't repair it and running the bootsec cmds /fixmbr /fixboot /rebuildbcd don't do anything either, I can't get it to reboot after running the cmds above. Can someone please change the fdisk if it's the one that is suppose to work in /usr/standalone/i386 and rename it to fdisk440 so we'll know? THANKS P.S. I read somewhere that I should instead do sudo /usr/standalone/i386/fdisk -f boot0hfs -u -y /dev/rdisk0 Use the boot0hfs and keep the Win partition active?
  3. THANKS these installers are really great! One thing, I boot OpenBSD 4.9 with Chameleon_2.0_RC5_r832.zip and when I use the keyboard arrow to highlight the partition it just stays red, the light does not turn green for OpenBSD, but when I hit enter it boots it... Hopefully someone can fix this light issue for OpenBSD? THANKS
  4. Vmware has really turned into a pig and I use to really love it. Now everything about it is more bloated and slower then VB. So yeah I've done it on VB, here's my post; http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=236342 NOW if I can only change my resolution...
  5. I'm running in full screen mode so I need to be able to change the resolution. Taking away the menu bar and status bar is only giving about a 1/2 inch more... I don't mind using '1280x1024x32' But then the virtual window won't resize to fit this how running a Windows guest does, so if I could at least do that I'd be happy. I wonder if I'll have better luck running this in VMWare? THANKS P.S. If Windows users want to do this, then in the path of C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox\ type; VBoxManage.exe setextradata global GUI/Customizations noMenuBar,noStatusBar If you want to put it back; VBoxManage.exe” setextradata global GUI/Customizations MenuBar,StatusBar
  6. My System specs; (Laptop) - Running Win7 Home Premium x64 Host I didn't install the server, I'm running the desktop under VirtualBox 3.2.10 'OSX Server x64' Hazards Snow Leopard 10.6.2 SSE2/SSE3 Intel AMD AMD TF-20 ATI HD3200 I have Snow running on VirtualBox 3.2.10 and I have a few problems, trying to figure out. The 'About' when I click the screen goes blank for a few seconds then the desktop pops back. Next I'm trying to get my resolution from 1024x768 to 1366x768 if possible. From what I've read online there are only 5 supported resolutions and I was able to change it to 1280x1024, but then the VB doesn't adjust window size so the resolution is to big. I've tried all these with no success. 1. Changed com.apple.Boot.plist and tried both these options; <key>Graphics Mode</key> <string>1366x768x32</string> <key>Timeout</key> <string>5</string> <key>device-properties</key <string></string> Then I also changed the second line to this; <string>"Graphics Mode"="1366x768x32"</string> 2. I tried rebooting with just those two changes two times leaving the com.apple.Boot.plist in; /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/ 3. Then I tried the two changes again, this time editing the .xml file on the host as such; <ExtraDataItem name="CustomVideoMode1" value="1366x768x32" /> and <ExtraDataItem name="CustomVideoMode1" "Graphics Mode"="1366x768x32" /> 4. Then I tried all these over again and besides leaving com.apple.Boot.plist in the /Library/ path I copied it also to /Volume/hdd/Extra still with no success. I did read online some people had success getting their resolution to boot to 1366x768 but I'm not figuring it out. I'm also using Hazard's latest Snow iso but in case no one around here is happy about that, I do have a copy of Snow I purchased. I remember when I was installing Hazard's Snow that it has a patch for the About menu I installed, but do I need to do anything with it now to make it work? THANKS P.S. After posting I realized I didn't try editing the xml file under the 'Machines' directory, so I did everything above over, this time editing this xml file but still no luck. This is how the xml file top looks like with; <ExtraDataItem name="CustomVideoMode1" "value"="1366x768x32" /> .xml file; <?xml version="1.0"?> <VirtualBox xmlns="http://www.innotek.de/VirtualBox-settings" version="1.10-windows"> <Machine uuid="{3e25da30-4050-4a36-8e1a-08ce90c03eae}" name="Snow Leopard" OSType="MacOS_64" currentSnapshot="{cdf883eb-6bed-45d3-9409-6fe5fddbaa79}" lastStateChange="2010-11-06T01:16:38Z"> <ExtraData> <ExtraDataItem name="CustomVideoMode1" value="1366x768x32"/> <ExtraDataItem name="GUI/InfoDlgState" value="400,450,normal"/> Does the placement look ok above? Even if it is, still not working...
  7. Is PearPC Dead?

Yeah me too... I just posted a screenshot of my desktop with CPU-Z showing my CPU...
  8. Is the PearPC project dead? It certainly doesn't look like anything is going on, and I'm sure this has been discussed before, so please forgive me for not finding any info here on this... I've been a Unix/Linux geek since the 90s, never been into Macs until they started becoming OS X, so I have now jumped into PearPC since I only have a AMD XP 3000+ box. I have Tiger 10.4 running really nice and OpenVPN Tap installed with the network working, but their is no sound. It really runs quite fast and smooth at 1024x768 I hope someone awakens the project, I'm certain there must be people around the world that still don't have SSE2/SSE3 CPUs... All I want to see is just plain ole AC97 sound support coming next... My Desk:
  9. PearPC 0.5pre Released!

This doesn't work, OK I know I'm LATE to the show! LOL... I hope pearpc is not dead. I just got it running under XP SP2 with a AMD XP 300+ running Tiger 10.4 really NICE! Has there been any new .exe since this one? THANKS
  10. Mac OS X 10.4.8 - JaS Kernel Panics

Well I got it to boot on my GameBox, but I don't think I want to put it on that, since it's an expensive high gaming SLI system: http://www.anandtech.com/mysystemrig.aspx?rigid=31760
  11. Mac OS X 10.4.8 - JaS Kernel Panics

Oh I thought they supported SEE2... Hmm
  12. Mac OS X 10.4.8 - JaS Kernel Panics

What a pain in the ass and a waste of time, hell installing FreeBSD is simpler then this. Will Jas OSX 10.4.7 possibly work any better? I'm about to turn my DVD disk into a frisbee, damm I really thought install this wasn't going to be a problem.
  13. Mac OS X 10.4.8 - JaS Kernel Panics

Someone told me on the irc channel that they have via sata, and it works without anything special. I'll take a screen shot of this. My camera sucks I can't get a clean shot. This is what it says just before the panic: "Apple ACPI Thermal has no kernel dependency" Then below another panic is listed and looking for dependencies showing a list of a few devices. So all I can think is possibly this is the issue not the SATA. THANKS
  14. This is my box specs: http://www.anandtech.com/mysystemrig.aspx?rigid=32333 When the Darwin boot loader boots ups I get kernel panics, it stops saying the VIA Chip /SATA & USB, so I disabled USB support in my BIOS and I didn't get the panic on this, but of course with my drives running SATA I can't disable this. I can take a screenshot of the bootup screen if needed, but I thought the, "Mac OS X 10.4.8 - JaS AMD Intel SSE2 SSE3 incl. PPF1" image supports SATA? Aren't my box specs fine? Also I'm doing this dual boot with XP. I have C & D partition on XP as the first two primary partitions and OSX as the 3rd partition listed as FAT32 Primary. THANKS
