  1. mirrored display and primary GPU

So I disabled the audio devices that is directly attached to the vm; used my Apple TV as audio device to play the audio over airplay. That turned out to be a solution. It looks like USB audio device for VM just simply not supported.
  2. mirrored display and primary GPU

Ferebee, thanks for the tips. My system is DQ45CB with Q9400 on a ESXi 5.1U2, ATI 4350 passthrough, and a PCOIP host card passthrough. Initially I thought it was the PCOIP card (for the sound issue) but when I connect directly to the vm, it had the same issue. My issue is the video playback is not smooth, the audio playback is even worse, cannot play continuously at all and even when it played, it was very bad.
  3. mirrored display and primary GPU

Removed the mirroring, made sure the GPU is the primary, the QE/CI is working on that GPU. So by enabling the mirroring, the QE/CI is gone. Anyone knows why? Logically I would think it inherits the primary GPU feature. I am also surprised that the video play back / audio playback is horrible even with the QE/CI on the passthrough GPU. I saw couple of posts talking about it. But anyone knows why this is bad even with passthrough GPU?
  4. Hi, I installed 10.9.2 into ESXi 5.1U2, I passed through a GPU to the Mac OS VM and did necessary modification to the device ID for it to recognize my ATI 4350. Obviously I am not able to disable the VM's default virtual display driver. So I moved the primary display to the GPU connected display and then mirrored it. My question is, with this setup, is the GPU primary display and providing the QE/CI function? Or is it something else? Thank you.
  5. I have a FX 8320 based ESXi 5.5. For Mavericks. I installed the BSA_kernel and got it working. However I have to have all 8 cores assigned to this virtual machine otherwise it will throw a kernel panic. I also have a Lion VM and it was fine with 4 cores. Does anyone have the same experience or has solution to use only four cores on Mavericks in VM?
  6. Mac OS X on ESXI Server

    Subcan, Please see my log below. I am still getting the kernel panic. Subcan, when I went back to the configuration, I found that all the code I put in got changed by the system, this is what I have after I powered on and powered off the VM after getting the kernel panic: hostCPUID.0 = "0000000d68747541444d416369746e65" hostCPUID.1 = "00600f20000808003698320b178bfbff" hostCPUID.80000001 = "00600f201000000001ebbfff2fd3fbff" guestCPUID.0 = "0000000d756e65476c65746e49656e69" guestCPUID.1 = "000006f1000208009698320b178bfbff" guestCPUID.80000001 = "00600f201000000000010be92bd3fbff" userCPUID.0 = "0000000d68747541444d416369746e65" userCPUID.1 = "00600f20000808009698320b178bfbff" userCPUID.80000001 = "00600f201000000000010be92bd3fbff" I did it twice just to confirm I didn't mis-type. Is there anything I missed? vmware.log.txt
  7. Hi, I originally posted this in the Virtualization forum, then I was suggested to post in this forum. If I broke any rule in terms of posting, please by all means let me know. My motherboard is GA-FX990-UD5 Rev1.0, my CPU is the FX-8320. I managed to install Mavericks 10.9.1 and upgraded to 10.9.2, used the latest BSA_Kernel from download area, installed vmware tools, had to replace the sandbox.kext and system.kext with the original 10.9.1 version due to the opemu ud2 error, installed the SVGA II, installed the ps2 kext to get mouse and keyboard input working in the vmware console. I currently have two issues: 1) I have to assign all 8 cores to the VM otherwise I have kernel panic, where in fact from what I observe, only one core is really being used, is it due to the modified kernel I am using? 2) I get nothing displayed in Safari, no error message in Safari, just blank, like nothing happened; my network connection is good, DNS is working, no firewall, so very strange. I looked at the console, the exact error message is: com.apple.WebKit.WebContent: com.apple.WebKit.WebContent: Couldn't enable sandbox style file quarantine: -2 com.apple.launchd: (com.apple.WebKit.WebContent.99871EEB-2502-4E68-B914-92B0173C54DB[301]) Exited with code: 77 When I open up App Store, nothing get displayed either. Any input is appreciated. On the same machine, I also have a 10.7.2 Lion, with corresponding AMD kernel, I only have to assign 4 cores and I can see all four cores are working. No Safari issue; but of course I didn't have to replace thesandbox.kext or system.kext either.
  8. Mac OS X on ESXI Server

Donk, attached is my vmware.log. I created a new VM, put in all the code suggested by Subcan, took one of my Lion virtual disk attached to the VM which I know it worked on Intel CPU ESXi. Powered on the machine, it could gave kernel panic if I chose Guest system being Mac OS X; it will go into reboot loop if I chose FreeBSD 64bit. Let me know if you need more information. vmware.log.txt
  9. Thanks. I will do that tonight. Any suggestion on my two points there?
  10. Donk, you are right I am participating in that topic as well. However the only reason I started a new one is that in this case I am not using the unlocker and I am not using the code suggested there. With the approach I am taking now it is totally different scenario in my opinion as I am now using a patched AMD kernel as I described. I didn't want to hijack that thread, hence I started a new one. Let me know if my understanding is correct. Whatever works better for everyone I will follow. To provide the information (the vmware log file) for the other thread, I need to re-install the unlock file where I just encountered a bit of issue and I am looking for bit of guidance in this thread: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/296483-esxi-55-unlocker-120/
  11. Thanks for letting me know. I had thought this falls into the virtualization category. I guess I would have to make a new post there? I hope I won't be accused for double posting?

  13. ESXi 5.5 Unlocker 1.20

Donk, I made a new file called install-new.sh base on the thread input, I did chmod +x per the instruction, when I tried ./install-new.sh, the system says: -sh: ./install-new.sh: not found I am not familiar with linux environment, could you give an advice here? I guess it is probably permission related? Thanks.
