1. Soundtrack Pro 3 won't start properly. The menu bar loads fine, but no workspace windows pop up. When I try to create a new audio file or a new multitrack, a window pops up that says: NSInternalConsistencyException Occasionally, the workspace does start, and when I try to drag-and-drop a file into it, I get this pop-up: NSInternalConsistencyException Bad fractional part The software doesn't crash (the menu bar stays up there until I quit), so there's no crash log. Final Cut Pro 7 and Compressor from the same suite start and run fine. Would appreciate your help. System: P4 3GHz, P4C800E-Deluxe, 4Gb RAM, XFX GeForce 6600GT OS: iDeneb 10.5.8 v.1.6 Lite + VooDoo 9.5
2. Pentium 4, 3Ghz P4C800E-Deluxe (no AHCI in BiOS) RAM Adata 2GB nVidia XFX GeForce 6600GT ethernet VIA 6307 (hottest build of 2004) OSx86: iDeneb 10.5.8 v.1.6 Lite Edition Everything works, except for Sleep mode, have to shut it down every time. I installed with default customization, installation was a success, but didn't boot. Started adding, one by one: - kernel: 9.5.0 kernel Voodoo - boot HD: Drivers/Chipset/ICHx fix (no AHCI in mobo BiOS (only IDE and RAID - set to IDE); without AHCI it will forever be "Still waiting for root device" or the grey crossed Apple logo). If still doesn't work, try adding Drivers/Chipset/AHCI SATA-IDE The rest, deal with it after system installs and boots OK: - graphics card - NVDarwin 128MB <instead of 128 type your graphic card RAM size> (by default, it's 1024x768). Best use nVidia, as Apple has some feud with ATI drivers. ATI All-In-Wonder 9600 was leaving trails and artefacts after the cursor. - audio - AppleAC97Audio.kext - not included in the build, look for it online - DVD, USB, FireWire - worked out of the box - ethernet - should work by itself; if not, unplug the cord and plug it back in. Either that, or it starts working on its own a couple of minutes after the boot, hard to say. I tried AppleIntel8255x.kext for ethernet - caused kernel panic. To remove a bad kext manually, enter -s at the loader prompt to enter single mode. Once in text console, enter: mount -uw / sudo rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/<Bad Kext Name>.kext and reboot. Good luck!

Thanks so much deciti, you saved me a sleepless night!
4. Turns out I had to install the Chipset -> ICH Fix for non-AHCI driver during the customization. Thanks for your help!
5. Yes! My system finally boots! Thanks so much - you saved me lots of frustration!
6. My system: (yes, I know it's as ancient as dinosaur dung, but it can work according to HCL): P4C800E-Deluxe Pentium 4 3.0 GHz RAM 2 Gb XFX 6600GT (AGP) Seagate 120Gb (connected to Southbridge ICH5) There's no AHCI in BiOS, so I config'd SATA as IDE (it can be config'd as RAID0, for which I'd have to buy a second ancient HDD somewhere). But first, a question: How does "no AHCI" setting manifest itself if one tries to install MacOSX? So far, I had the following progress: - Darwin 10.6.0 by director A.K. - installs fine; first attempt to boot leads to grey Apple screen forever (black screen if -v) - Hazard 10.6.6; iAtkos 10.6.3 - stall forever during "Unmounting disk" during partition (undertermined "Christmas candy" progress bar) - ##### by tonymac + retail OS - grey Apple screen forever once the retail DVD is inserted after ##### If AHCI is not set, can the system still install fine, like in the case of my first build? How does "no AHCI" setting manifest itself? Is there a way to know a problem is caused by "no AHCI" as opposed to by something else? Thanks!
