  1. If you have the retail SL disk and install using any of the install methods available SL will automatically detect your card and install the appropriate settings to enable all graphics features. Yes everything is supported. Nobody will respond telling you how to do it. That is what the search function is for. All the info you need is here in the forum for you to find. You can also check out this web page for a lot of useful info. http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2010/02/ton...f-contents.html One other thing. Once u have your card working you will know if you do if you have opaque drop down menu. The info in System Profiler does not mention QE/CI or other things Leopard use to mention.
  2. AMD and Retail Snow Leopard 10.6.5 --> 10.6.8 Final[GUIDE]

    I managed to get SL on my computer but now I am stuck at a point where I cannot boot into the hard drive it is installed on. When I try to boot to the USB HD from the USB install HD it wont go any further than "NVDANV40HAL loaded and registered". Just sits there to this point. Upon first boot after setup I was able to boot but had no internet or Lan. I then added Skge.kext to enable Lan port but now I can no longer boot. I still need to update to 10.6.4 but cannot bc I have no Lan in SL. I still need to go back to "boot after setup" to continue you tutorial but cant unless problem is solved. Thanks
  3. AMD and Retail Snow Leopard 10.6.5 --> 10.6.8 Final[GUIDE]

    Ok, I tried your second method but with an external USB hardrive instead of USB memory. I restored the DVD to the external hd and copied all the necessary files and deleted the kernel to. I booted the USB hd in the old computer and got as far as the spinning rainbow icon but thats it. Will not make it to the setup screen. Is there something wrong or is my old computer just to old to try SL on? Thanks
  4. AMD and Retail Snow Leopard 10.6.5 --> 10.6.8 Final[GUIDE]

    Hi Mohamed I am trying your 1st method of installing Snow leopard on my older PC but can't get by "still waiting for root device" before getting to setup screen. My motherboard is a DFI LanParty Nforce 4 Ultra D which doesn't have any settings for ACHI in bios. The Nforce 4 chipset doesn't support ACHI so I guess that is why I'm getting the above error. Is there a way around not having this ACHI setting to make this setup work on my computer? I know many people were having this same problem when installing Leopard 10.5 also. There was a work around figured out for that at the time. I am using a Sata DVD drive but also have a IDE to if needed. Hope you can help with this one. I guess if 1st method doesn't work I can probably try your 2nd method. Right?
  5. AMD and Retail Snow Leopard 10.6.5 --> 10.6.8 Final[GUIDE]

    Thanks I'll give it a try soon when i can.
  6. AMD and Retail Snow Leopard 10.6.5 --> 10.6.8 Final[GUIDE]

    I have a second older PC with AMD X2 in it running 10.5.6 and would like to try to install SL instead. I have Retail Snow Leopard 10.6.0 disk. Do I need to get the 10.6.3 retail disk in order to follow your guide or can I use 10.6.0? thanks
  7. pderb 1st option for your system below Go to this web site below. It has great info for your system and for getting SL to recognize your video card properly. http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2010/01/adv...a-graphics.html 2nd option below if option #1 fails If you dont have QE/CI working for your card then try downloading "osx86 tools" and select add EFI Strings/Boot Flags. then, go under the "GFX" tab and select your card from the drop down list. Then add the string to your com.apple.boot.plist For this to work you should get rid of any injector or strings already added to your extentions folder and com.apple.boot.plist that you were using before.
  8. I had the same problem a while back. I solved it by locating the Essentials package on the SL install disk and re-installing it from there. Here is the link to my prior post here http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...p;#entry1435738
  9. screen capture not working

    Thanks for the reply's. I figured it out. Somehow my Essentials package portion of SL got damaged. I found the Essentials install on the retail disk and ran it to reinstall Essentials. All is well now.
  10. I have been trying to capture a screen shot in Snow Leopard 10.6.2 but am unable to do so. Using Grab, I just get an empty capture (nothing captured). In Preview, it just crashes unexpectedly when I try to capture. I tried the CMD+shift+4 (and others) takes a capture (I hear the camera shot sound) but am unable to find any captured file anywhere. Very strange. Anyone have any ideas?
  11. Thanks again. I have not yet upgraded my DVD burner to SATA (still ATA) which probably would have caused issues with installing from DVD/CD. Thus the reason for using USB method. Plus I already had the image of my 10.6.0 on the USB drive so I decided to use it.
  12. Thanks for the reply. I used tonymacx86's version for installing SL. I am up and running now. I used the image created from the Kakewalk USB version and then used the rest of Tony's stuff to install thru USB. Worked fine. Almost as easy as Kakewalk should be with the P55M-UD2. The thing that makes it work is the modified kernal for 10.6.0 among other things. Thanks for the info. I think this info + Tony's info from his web page tonymacx86 should be made a sticky at the front of this posting or at least be added to the front page as important info pertaining to the P55-UD2 motherboard. I spent a few hours looking through every page (169 of them) of this posting for info on the P55. Could have saved me that time if it was already there at the beginning. It will definitely help the rest of those newcomers who find themselves looking for the same info on the P55 mb. Btw thanks for all the effort in making the install of SL as easy as it is. We couldn't do it with out the help of the people making it happen.
  13. Hi, I am unable to get SL to install using the USB method. My system is: Gigabyte GA-P55M-UD2 Intel Core i5 750 4 Gb DDR3 Nvidia 9800GTX+ I have SL imaged to a 20 Gb USB HD with the proper install fix for my mb. When it tries to boot from the install drive I get past the starting Darwin then the computer just restarts and keeps doing this over and over. I have followed all the instructions written except I used a USB HD instead of a thumb drive. What could be the problem? I tried the -v method to see any errors but can't see the results. The computer restarts to quick. I am using 10.5.6 on an older machine presently. I have also tried to use the CD method but have not been able to get that running either. Very frustrating. Any ideas? Do I need to provide you more info? Thanks
  14. NVIDIA 9 Series Driver Installer v2

    I finally found a solution to unsupporting QE/CI after reading other posts in other sections. Took me about 5 days to figure out this problem after having not using OSx86 for nearly a year or less. Like I said before I am a nooby again. My solution was to edit the NIVinject.kext/Info.plist to change IOProbeScore from 60,000 to 0 as somebody else already figured out. As soon as I did this, repaired permissions and rebooted I now have QE/CI and Rotation all enabled. If anyone else is having the same trouble even after following most of the Injecter solutions and Graphic strings then try the above solution before resorting to reinstall OSx86. Oh yes, thanks Aqua-mac for all the help u provided to everyone here. Keep up the great work.
  15. NVIDIA 9 Series Driver Installer v2

    Sorry, the issue is not being able to get QE/CI working even after trying different solutions. I was wondering if you could help me sort out why I can't get QE/CI working.
