Why do you want to run ppc apps? You could just use universal binaries instead... OS X works fine with only SSE 2...
  2. DVD playback

I'm using Mac OS X 10.4.8 on my HP nx6125 laptop computer. It has a ATI Radeon Xpress 200M Video card (no QE/CI possible with this {censored}*y video card). Is there a way to get DVD playback working without QE? I've already tried VLC but it does not work either (I can hear the sound of the DVD though)... Any ideas?
  3. I managed to get my laptop keyboard to work using: "kextload /System/Library/Extensions/ApplePS2Controller.kext/Contents/Plugins/ApplePS2Keyboard.kext" The German keyboard layout is working as well, but I cannot really get those special keys to work. The most annoying thing is the "@"-symbol, you usually get it by pressing "AltGR" and "Q" (on a German keybord). But what also bugs me is that the "PageUP", "PageDN", "End" and "Home" do not work I would them expect to work. After 4 years of using Linux I am used to those keys, so I would like that "Pos 1" brings me to the beginning of a line and so on... I have already tried to create a "Library/KeyBindings/DefaultKeyBinding.dict"-file, but it does not have any effect. Does anybody know, how to change the bahaviour of these keys and how to switch the strg, alt, and "win***s"-key?
  4. Wow, it works... I just removed the PCI ID from the Radeon9700.kext file and added it to the CallistoHAL.kext file... That is so awesome... BTW: I was using Callisto 003, sorry about that wrong statement. Thanks
  5. I'm using OS X 10.4.8 (JaS.10.4.8.AMD.Intel.SSE2.SSE3) and the system installed just fine. I am also able to boot the system, but it cannot start the loginwindow.app, I guess this is because of my GPU. I've already added the PCIID of my Radeon Xpress 200M to the ATIRadeon9700.kext and deleted the kextcache, but it still does not work. In ATIRadeon9700GA.plugin I have tried to switch between "IONDRVFramebuffer" and "CallistoFB", neither of them worked. I have Callisto 006 installed and can boot into singe user mode to make modifications to the system. That is pretty much it, can anybody help me? Is Callisto the right thing for me? How do I configure it correctly? I know that I cannot QE and CI to work, but that does not matter. I simply wanna see a GUI; VESA would be fine too, but not even VESA works... Thanks in advance...
  6. I had the same problem: my keyboard was not detected properly... If you're using a laptop (maybe it also works with a normal PC) try using a USB keybord. And don't forget to mount the volume with read/write access, before you start patching... It toook me a while to figure that out . Directely after booting in single user mode it tells you how to mount the volume with r/w access!
  7. OK, I replaced the entire loginwindow.app, and tried several files - all with the same result: it still does not work. It keeps saying "Login Window Application Started", but nothing happens... What else could be wrong?
  8. After booting into single-user mode I want to mount my FAT32-formatted usb-flash drive. USB seems to work, a new device appears (/dev/disk1). I'm trying to do the following thing: mkdir /Volumes/usb mount /dev/disk1s1 /Volumes/usb It says it can't find the file, or specify filesystem type or whatever... Is it even possible to access FAT32-Volumes under Mac OS X (10.4.8)?
  9. OK, i'm working on it. I've downloaded the old Login WIndow App, but how can I transfer it to the Mac install? I can't mount the partition under Linux (hfs+ support enabled, says: "no valid superblock") and i can't mount my usb flash drive(s) in mac os. "mount /dev/disk1s1" always gives me errors, even with a hfs-formatted flash-drive... Ethernet does not work as well...
  10. No, I don't think so... Why would/should I do that?
  11. After installing JaS 10.4.8 I rebooted my system in single user mode and successfully applied the AMD CPUID patch. Then I rebooted the system again (verbose) and it seemed to load just fine. It said "/System//Library/CoreServices/loginwindow.app/Contents/MacOS/loginwindow: Login Window Application Started" but nothing happened. The odd thing was that I could hear sound in the background and when I randomly clicked with the mouse somewhere or pressed enter I could hear sound again.... But i was still in text mode, nothing happened any more. It just said that the Login Window had started, which seemed strange.. I'm sort of new to Mac, I've used Linux all the years before. Do I have to switch a vt to see anything??? Whats wrong? Sorry, I forgot: HP nx6125 laptop ATI Radeon Xpress 200M 128MB (X200) 1,2 GB RAM
