JaS 10.4.9 Intel SSE3 Only Combo Update

I got a Presario C500 (c502us to be exact). After installing the Combo Update my audio started to stutter. Everything else seems to work except the built-in Broadcom4311 WiFi.
  2. Thank you for keeping me posted.

By the way, where can I find your new thread?

    Cheers,

  3. Cloudy, I hope we can get our Presario laptop fully working soon. I started a new thread on the drivers sub-forum for this. Good luck.

  4. Hi everyone (a big HI! especially those of you who are driver gurus), There are a bunch of us who are stuck when it comes to our Presario laptop (C300 and C500). So far, installing JaS Mac OS X 10.4.8 AMD Intel SSE2 SSE3 PPF1 works great. Everything is working great except the following: The audio: Conexant High Definition Audio needs SkippyRetard's driver. The modem: HDAUDIO Soft Data Fax Modem with SmartCP is not working. The wireless NIC: Broadcom 4311 802.11b/g is not working. This is the biggest headache of them all because not having networking makes the computer almost useless these days. The computer won't sleep - sleep will reboot computer The computer won't shutdown correctly - will go to the press and hold power button screen, but I believe that's related to the wireless not working because of the following panic: Kernel loadable modules in backtrace (with dependencies): com.apple.driver.AirPortBrcm43xx(203.2)@01fb37000 dependency: com.apple.iokit.IONetworkingFamily(1.51)@0x1ea5e000 dependency: com.apple.iokit.IOPCIFamily(2.1)@0x1b360000 dependency: com.apple.iokit.IO80211Family(140.4)@0x1eb68000 com.apple.iokit.IO80211Family(140.4)@0x1eb68000 dependency: com.apple.iokit.IONetworkingFamily(1.51)@0x1ea5e000 dependency: com.apple.iokit.IOPCIFamily(2.1)@0x1b360000 Kernel version: Darwin Kernel Version 8.8.1: Sat Dec 9 22:18:27 AZOT 2006; semthex:/nebukadnezar/BUILD/obj/RELEASE_I386 Many of us have been following the simple Broadcom tutorial, but it's not applicable because our 14e4, 4311 dev ID is already correctly entered in the AppleAirPortBrcm4311.kext driver. I would personally pay $25 to the first person that gets the wireless working for me via PayPal or send you an Apple $25 iTunes card. I am sure the other Presario laptop owners who are frustrated like me will probably chip in too because we all just want that wireless to work so much. Thanks!

    Simple Broadcom Wirless Tutorial

The only BIOS control I have for my Presario C500 (c502us to be exact) is either enable or disable for the wireless card. I wish there was more or if the button to the top of the keyboard will work like a hardware switch, but no. That's all I have.

    Broadcom 4311

A lot of us are having the same issue with the Wireless not working, but check out what I wrote about the sound card in the link below to get it to work: http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.ph...00_.28C502US.29.

where to buy a fake macbook

I can confirm that. I saw the case like the Mac Pro/PowerMac G5 on NewEgg. It's an ATX case, so you can get that case and fill it with compatible parts for a cheap Mac Pro.

Thanks for confirming that Cloudy. My blue WiFi light doesn't come on, but my BIOS is set to enable the WiFi. Here is something that might shed some light for someone out there. When I click to shutdown my computer, the wireless will cause a panic. Following is the read out: Kernel loadable modules in backtrace (with dependencies): com.apple.driver.AirPortBrcm43xx(203.2)@01fb37000 dependency: com.apple.iokit.IONetworkingFamily(1.51)@0x1ea5e000 dependency: com.apple.iokit.IOPCIFamily(2.1)@0x1b360000 dependency: com.apple.iokit.IO80211Family(140.4)@0x1eb68000 com.apple.iokit.IO80211Family(140.4)@0x1eb68000 dependency: com.apple.iokit.IONetworkingFamily(1.51)@0x1ea5e000 dependency: com.apple.iokit.IOPCIFamily(2.1)@0x1b360000 Kernel version: Darwin Kernel Version 8.8.1: Sat Dec 9 22:18:27 AZOT 2006; semthex:/nebukadnezar/BUILD/obj/RELEASE_I386 If this makes sense to anyone please help. Thanks a lot! Many of us will sure appreciate completing this Broadcom guide, so we can use our WiFi.

    Simple Broadcom Wirless Tutorial

I have the Presario C500, which is basically the same. I have the same exact problem and I think I know why. It's because the wireless is not turned on (therefore the wifi light which lights up blue under Windows XP or Vista is not on). If there is a way to turn that thing on (I already tried pushing the button, but I think it's just a keyboard hot-key, so not workiing) then I am sure it will work with the built-in driver which already has the device id 4311. One of you super hackers, could you please help us turn the wifi on? Thanks very much! :censored2:

    ALC88x 10.4.8 Kext

Just wanna let you guys know that SkippyRetard's driver works great for my Presario 500 laptop. Thanks Skippy.
  11. Hi barchetta, How are you? I am glad to see that you have your Inspiron 8600 working. I am envious. I have the Inspiron 8200 and am having a hard time getting the graphics to work properly. I have installed both the MacVidia 1.0.8 and 1.0.81, but they both just gave me the press the power button and try again screen (like you said ...kinda like BSOD). I am using the JaS 10.4.8 SSE2 SSE3 ISO. Could you please tell me what video driver you are using and how I can find it? I would appreciate any help! WiseByte
  12. Hi Arie the Kid, First, thanks for your willingness to help. I need some help with getting my Dell Inspiron 8200 to work right. I am using the JaS 10.4.8 SSE2 SSE3 ISO. I am having trouble with the video driver. The laptop has the vNidia GeForce4 440 Go with 64MB, but the computer will not boot into Aqua. I tried installing MacVidia 1.0.8 and 1.0.81, but they don't work. All I get is the press the power button and try again screen. Any solutions? Thanks, WiseByte
