    Can't empty Trash

Yes, on separate SSDs. I have tried the above commands before and nothing works. Crazy!

    Can't empty Trash

As I thought, it didn't work. Just reset the settings for finder. Thanks anyway

    Can't empty Trash

Thanks @BNZfive - I will give that a try later. Will post back with the outcome.

    Can't empty Trash

I've tried that previously (a number of times actually). It doesn't delete the file. I think I might recreate the original file that the alias links to on the drive that it originally existed on, and then try to empty the trash. I really do not think it will work though.

    Can't empty Trash

Unfortunately, I cannot help, but I too have the same problem. I can only empty my trash by using a 3rd party app (Onyx in my case), the problem arose a while back (ML install) when I could not fully empty the trash. There is a shortcut (alias) to a file which was on an external drive. The file was deleted from the drive, which I assume (after lots of reading) is why this alias file will not delete. However, sometimes I can empty my trash and skip the file which will not delete, and empty the rest of the trash. But the last few weeks, I cannot empty it at all, and have to use Onyx. I have read many different threads on different forums, and nothing suggested works. What was strange, is that my 10.10 install was fresh, and I did not do a restore from a backup, as I wanted a full clean new install (and get rid of this trash issue). The first time I emptied my trash, everything was normal. Then somehow, the old file which cannot be removed from the trash, reappeared. So I am back to square one. If anyone knows how to get rid of these items, please let me know. Just hope it's not one of the methods which I have already tried (which I cannot fully remember as I type this). Thanks

Thanks apianti; I Will try this later also. My gut feeling was the same, that the issue is before the GUI. Thanks again.

    Clover General discussion

Thanks Slice. I read that somewhere, and I unchecked the box in configurator, in the BOOT tab, which I assumed was this option. I will check the config.plist later to check that it is giving the correct option (false). If that is already correct with the log=false set in the config, any ideas on what else it could be?

    Clover General discussion

Okies, after a long term Chimera user (don't shoot me!), I moved to Clover a bit ago. For whatever ever reason, I cannot boot from UEFI of my osX 10.10 SSD. This is not why I am posting, but, I can (easily) and did install Clover over Chimera (yay!). I have the latest v.2999 installed. However, the time taken to get from the bios screen (ROG) to Clover, is rather long. With Chimera, my system would be at my osX desktop, fully booted within 10 seconds, including the bios boot time. Now, with Clover. it takes an age to appear, with an underscore character at the top left of the screen, then I hear the PC kick into action, then a black screen, then the Clover screen. All in all, probably over a minute. Once there, if I select my osX drive, it boots as quick as it did as if I booted my osX from Chimera (around 2-3 seconds). Is there anything I can do to make this bios to Clover time quicker? Also, I noticed the resolution in Clover is terrible. I am using a 39" LG TV (1920x1080) as my monitor. Any tips? Thanks in advance, if anyone replies.

    [UEFIPatch] UEFI patching utility

OK; that's a new one on me. I'm going to buy a new GPU soon (GTX 760). I don't know what to do then..... thanks for the reply though.

    [UEFIPatch] UEFI patching utility

Hi all; I think this is where I need to post this. I have been using osX for a while now, 10.7 to 10.10, and my build consists of a Asus Maximus V Gene mobo (Z77), with 3770K CPU and 32GB of RAM, SSD's. I moved to clover a while back, but never could never get it to boot UEFI. After numerous attempts, I saw an error which sometimes appeared 'VGA card not supported by UEFI' or something similar. I am using an older modded bios, so I am led to believe I probably need a new modded bios to allow this UEFI to work properly for booting clover from the ESP of the Yosemite drive. Do I patch it myself with these tools? Sorry for the noobish type post, but I am not one for messing with bioses (everything else is fine!). Thanks

    Permanently Banned From Tonymacx86

Wow; I stumbled across this, mainly due to the 10.10 DP installation guides and feedback. I never knew about any of this, and I have been using his site for a while. I think I may take my build (Haximus Pro) down. I've been thinking about making the move to Clover (or another alternative bootloader) for sometime now, this thread has helped sway my decision. In addition there are many benefits of using other bootloaders too. I have also noticed this behaviour there, and never knew where it stemmed from, and I am also shocked at how much income he generates for essentially doing something that Apple would be massively against. It's kind of ironic that they don't like the other methods of installing osX, when there are all doing the same thing. Thanks guys. It was an interesting read!! :-)

    Sapphire HD5670 & Leopard - No QE/CI

BUMP. Surely somebody must have some kind of advice? Or am I trying to do something that is just totally out of reach? Thanks

    Sapphire HD5670 & Leopard - No QE/CI

Hi guys (hope this gets read) System spec: Asus P5QL-E Intel Pentium 4 631 Cedar Mill 6GB DDR2 666MHz RAM Asus SATA DRW-2014L1T 4 x WD SATA HDD Sapphire HD5670 512mb GDDR5 3 ports (VGA, DVI, HDMI) Samsung 2233BW 22" monitor I have tried many times, with various setups to boot Snow Leo, I can install it using various distros, and the retail 10.6.3 image. They will not boot, using different boot commands, results in different non booting scenarios (KP, Black screen, spinning wheel, etc). Hence, why I am settling for Leopard, until I get a new mobo & i7 combo (not soon enough). I have Leopard running very very well, all except the graphics. I have looked on the web, countless times, and tried I think every which way possible. Which brings me here....... Currently, the setup I am running consists of an iAtkos_v7 distro installation, followed by the 10.5.8 update from Apple. All I have done to this installation is update Chameleon to RC5 r700 (kabyl branch). With this bootloader, I get a default resolution of 1400x1050. Which isn't bad really, tbh. However, I know this card can do more, as I use Windows 7 and it runs at 1680x1050. I have tried many 'aticonfig' and nothing changes. I have tried putting my graphics rom into the Extra folders, and used 'UseAtiROM' (yes, renamed rom to 1002_68D8 too), again nothing. I used to use the kexts method, again, mostly nothing, but usually end up with same resolution. Basically, I am sick of going round and round, to get nowhere. There must be something I am missing. Regardless of any of the hacks above to get my card working, I do not get any additional card information in System Profiler, and it always says the card has 256mb RAM, and the main things QE is not supported. I know that in 10.6.7+, Apple added support for my card, however, I cannot install to Snow, on my current hardware (for some strange reason). Looks like I am stuck with half assed graphics. I can render small windowed movies/youtube/etc but full screen is a joke, my CPU will be feeling it!! If anyone has any tips, advice (apart from install SL), please reply. If you need any further info, just ask, and I will be respond immediately! Thanks
