XFX Radeon HD 6870 2GB GDDR5 low score at Cinebench

Well, I upgraded due to the flash player problems I have with my 8800gtx. Using dp4 GeForce drivers however solves this problem. I agree that the cinebench score is not that serious, but after downloading all the patched ATI6000controller kexts I could find and combining them with the various framebuffers without gaining dual DVI, I just got fed up. Further, both duckweed and gibba gave mouse movement artifcts ( single display). The 8800gtx solution is way more stable and easy, and I'm willing to give another Nvidia product a chance. I want stuff to work properly, not just partially.

XFX Radeon HD 6870 2GB GDDR5 low score at Cinebench

I just gave up the ATI story. The card is being returned and will be replaced by a NVIDIA product. I cant understand why people state that HD6870 cards are 100% supported as there are major problems with performance (AGPM not working) and a lot of hazzle with Framebuffers and personalities in order to get dual DVI output. One downside with a Nvidia 5xx card is (as far as I understand) that I have to give up my 10.6.8 installation.

XFX Radeon HD 6870 2GB GDDR5 low score at Cinebench

It is hard to understand why NVIDIA parameters found within the graphicspowermanagement.kext´s Info.plist should activate proper power management for ATI cards as the parameters are substatially different. I´ll give it a shot though! I have no clue what the various "integer" settings mean, but could it be possible to extract the correct settings from a Linux or Windows system? If anyone has deciphered the various ATI parameters in any way, I would appreciate some hints. The LegacyAGPM.kext posted above locates to CPU0@0 in IORegistryExplorer. Correct?? Greetings!

XFX Radeon HD 6870 2GB GDDR5 low score at Cinebench

Hi I'm also struggling with the performance of my newly acquired HD 6870 (1GB PowerColor). No matter what I do the score stays at 32-33. I've tried the above mentioned LegacyAGPMs with SMBIOS identifier set to MacPro5,1 and Id set to 17 or 18 as well as SMBIOS set to iMac12,2 after editing the LegacyAGPM.kextst correspondingly. Further these variables have been combined with Chimera 1.10.0 and Chameleon r1493 as well as various frame buffers (Bulrushes, Duckweed, Gibba). There are just to many combinations of parameters to test everything. I would appreciate some help if anyone has succeeded in overcoming this performance issue. Windows XP 32-bit gives me a score of ~55. CPU: Q6600@3.2GHz GB RAM:GA-EP35-DS4 VGA: PowerColor HD6870 1GB Edit: BTW, the LegacyAGPM.kexts loads at writes G-state set from 0 to 0 (or similar) at boot up
  5. Unfortunately 10.7.3 kexts are not better, flash player shows missing plugin in safari and I get random kernel panics (screen saver?)... back to DF4 kexts Kulos
  6. Hi Using the 10.7.2 kexts/plugins, Adobe Flash player reports "missing plugin" in Safari. I tried kexts/plugins (NVDAResman.kext, NVDANV50Hal.kext, GeForceVADriver.bundle, GeForceGLDriver.bundle, GeForceGA.plugin, GeForce.kext) from MacBookProVideoUpdate1.0.dmg (Oct. 24) but the problem still remains. Problem is solved however using the DP4 driver (NVDAResman.kext, NVDANV50Hal.kext, GeForceVADriver.bundle, GeForceGLDriver.bundle, GeForceGA.plugin, GeForce.kext) Has anyone a more specific solution to the problem? Does anyone know what the status of the 10.7.3 kexsts/plugins will be? (Same as MacBookProVideoUpdate1.0.dmg?) My system is: EP35-DS4 Q6600 DSDT EFI string for Nvidia 8800GTX Latest (I think) Chameleon boot loader Regards Kulos
  7. It did work! The Pioneer solved it! The problem was that this was "hidden" due to the fact that I had Temperature Monitor Light running on Login. Disabling Temp Mon. after changing to the Pioneer restored the automatic sleep on idle functionality!! (I had of course tried this with the old drives a well. Just forgot about it)
  8. Well, didn't work. Cant find out what the problem is.
  9. Found one! A DVR-216. Already ordered! Crossing my fingers!
  10. Hi and thanks for the answer I would buy a Pioneer drive if only I knew where to get one in Norway. The only Pioneer drive I could find so far, is a single, very expensive Bluray drive. Ordered stuff from EU usually stops in customs which leads to extra expenses. Do you know if these drives are sold under other brand-names as well?? I guess I might have to pick one up the next time I go abroad. kulos
  11. Hi Any progress on this?? I have the "auto sleep" failing issue after upgrading to 10.5.7 myself. DVD burner makes funny noises from time to time (presumably when the machine tries to sleep). "Normal sleep" works perfectly. Tried two different SATA DVD burners: Sony NEC Optiarc DVD±RW burner AD-7200S and Samsung TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-S203N. Leaving a DVD in the drives doesn't help either! Annoying!! kulos

  13. Actually, my fan does respond to temperature. Realized this after a test where I blocked the air inlet (fan speed/noise went up). Stopping the fan speed variation should be easy: power the fan(s) directly from PSU (and rheostat to lower voltage, haven't tested this, might give errors at boot due to "bios surveillance"??) This solution might lead to overheating though! I guess your problem is noise, right?? Fan-noise might be due to faulty fan or high temperature (dust, old/dry thermal paste on cpu, blocked ventilation,.....) kulos
  14. Hi Tried your method on my GA-EP35-DS4. It didn't solve my problem, which is failure to enter automatic sleep ("manual sleep" works fine even without your DSDT fix) I reinstalled OSX before upgrading to 10.5.7. The old 10.5.6 install went into automatic sleep without issues. After installation of 10.5.7 it never worked again. Any clue?? I get these messages when starting up: USBF: 0.348 AppleUSBOHCI[0x61d5000]::CheckSleepCapability - controller will be unloaded across sleep USBF: 0.348 AppleUSBOHCI[0x61e0800]::CheckSleepCapability - controller will be unloaded across sleep Only USB devices are a Logitech G5 laser mouse and a cheap USB logitech keyboard (both same as before 10.5.7) Setup: Install by boot-132 from retail DVD.
