  1. Auto Detect Display/HDMI/8500GT

Tried to switch the two ports but got a black screen. I guess I'll have to change the NVCAP also. I'm going to be a bit busy the couple of coming days but when I have the time I'll try to figure this one out.
  2. Auto Detect Display/HDMI/8500GT

I'm not a god at this but I think I have a clue: The HDMI-connector is the Secondary port on the Graphics card and when OSX notices that it doesn't have a screen plugged in, the system sort of hangs. I have sort of the same problem with my 8500GT HDMI, when I try to change the resolution on the HDMI-port and thats the only screen connected it does the same thing. Without having to reboot I connect another screen to the DVI-port to get OSX to jump over to that screen instead and then it goes back to normal but with two screens in extended mode. I will try to edit the NVinject.kext to switch the primary and secondary port and I'll try to come back to you. Don't really know if it's possible but I'll give it a try.
  3. How to get 8600gt to work?

Okej! now I need some help from the gods here! I found this thread and I can say that it has been to much help. Now I've got Dual displays working and on full res but I can't get QE/CI to work. The funny thing is that I've tried a bunch of NVCAP strings (and change the display A and B ) and all of them have made the same result: dual displays and full res and the VGA always the primary (I think). the card has one DVI-connector (with VGA-adapter) and one VGA-connector wich is closest to the mobo. so, is it supposed to be like this? shouldn't this affect what screens work and don't work? Ofcourse I have deleted the Extensions.mkext before every reboot. Or is there some more Caches I should delete or what? (have search but couldn't really find it. (yet) Would be thankfull for the help because now I wan't the sucker to not work so I can know what I'm doing wrong (or right) Asus P5K E8400 4GB ram XFX 8600GT
  4. [How to] Asus P5K-VM guide

A question for you P5K-VM users: When you say your sound works, do you mean that SPDIF digital surround works or just stereo? Thanks!
  5. Sorry but what I can find is that there isn't any SPDIF ports on that board. (?)
  6. Found the P5E-VM HDMI Someone with any opinions on this board? Probably going for a 8500GT with that board if someone doesn't disagree?
  7. [How to] Asus P5E-VM HDMI [VMODS & LEO]

Has anyone tested the SPDIF so it works with 5.1 sound? The HDMI doesn't hace QE and CI?
  8. Does the S/PDIF connector work with OSX? Because thats not on the backpanel and I'd guess id need a special cable to get S/PDIF? I also found the Asus P5K-VM. Haven't really found if someone have had succes with 5.1 sound, but if someone have please post it.
  9. Okey lets start with the basics. I'm probably going to buy a new computer (Hacintosh) and have already decided on which case to buy. I need a mATX mobo that has digital surround sound (Onboard of course), thats almost the biggest must have. Onboard grafics could be okey but not a must. Onboard LAN doesn't have to work, probably going for a Wifi card. If there is Hardware RAID I would probably use it but if not, it's okey. Front USB would also be nice if that worked. If there is problems with sleep I don't care. Haven't used it before so I'm probably not going to use it in the future. The performance is quite of an importance. I'm probably going for a Intel core2Duo or Quad Processor but I feel that the mobo must be up for the task. Can you be so kind to direct me in the right direction to which mobo to buy I would be gratefull! Also say what pros and cons you can come up with would be great! Thanks!
  10. hmm... sorry but I have given up on this system. too sluggish. I had a IDE HDD. the SATA disk wasn't recognized (spelling?) Did the installs on a formatted disk. Think a had some succesful installs with Tiger already installed also. Zephyroths disk wasn't any problems with besides performance. took about 10min just to start and about 3h to install. When I got to install on a ASUS P5K where it was like 10 times faster to install then I got quite tired of that HP computer. Anything more I might be able to help you with?
  11. Kalyway & TimeMachine...

Try opening the install disk with Pacifist and install that single pkg of TimeMachineFix. Think there also is a pkg somewhere out here. It's all about how you search. But I would go with Pacifist. Hope it helps!
  12. Leo4allv3 Welcome Loop

I had that problem too. Got really frustrated when this happened after a perfect install and messed that one up so I had to do it all over again and your problem happened. You can test the different solutions from here http://osx86.wikidot.com/known-issues#toc9 Also check that your firewire is enabled in BIOS. had mine disabled but after i got it enabled it got through the loop perfectly. Hope it helps! EDIT: forgot to mention "in BIOS"
  13. ATI Radeon HD pkg installers 10.5.x & 10.6

Great work! I got this working but not dual display. There is one DVI connection and one VGA. the DVI connector doesn't work with a VGA adapter but the VGA connection works. Somebody that managed to get dual display working with this card? Chipset Model: ATI Radeon HD 2400 PRO Type: Display Bus: PCIe PCIe Lane Width: x16 VRAM (Total): 256 MB Vendor: ATI (0x1002) Device ID: 0x94c3 Revision ID: 0x0000 Depth: 32-bit Color Core Image: Hardware Accelerated Quartz Extreme: Supported Rotation: Supported I guess a big Thanks to LastExile is in order for getting one of my screens working great!!
  14. Wohoo! just woke up to a working Leopard installation! (writing from it now) Thats been a frustrating week with my computer. Installed a 10.4.4 version with a combo update to 10.4.6. With a few AMD patches. Don't know who made that disc. Then I took Zephyroths 10.5.2 disc and choosed just the Toh 9.1.0 kernel in the installation options. Nothing else. Now over to the parts that don't work. sound doesn't work and no kexts are installed for the graphics card. I'll look this upp and come back to you guys if I get stuck with that.
  15. Hi. First post so please don't shoot me. Don't know if this might be better placed in the "Post-installation" forum? I have come to a dead end with my install on my computer.(I've searched and learned alot of the different terminal commands from the forum so thanks to you all) I had this projekt on ice for a while but started to try a Leopard install. At first I think I had a JaS tiger installation on it (very sluggish and no sound) and got a hold on Zephyroths 10.5.2. It installed great and booted upp the first time but stupid as I were I did a apple software update. You all can guess how that ended. After getting that "hold down the power button to reboot" I started with a fresh install. After that I haven't manage to get the installation to boot on the HDD. I always get kernel panics or "still waiting for root device". One odd thing is that I tried the Leo4allv3 disc and it would say "still waiting for root device" upon boot but when i patched it, it started and I thought I was out of the woods. but no. Depending on what I select in the installation it will always panic or get the still waiting for root device error when booting the HDD. Is that something anyone else have been in contact with? The usual panic I get now ends with "backtrace terminated invalid frame pointer 0". Or is that maybe not the real panic it's saying there? If there is anyone with a similar computer please post what disc and what installation-options you selected.
